"Uncle, what in the bloody hell was that about?" Draco said as soon as Severus closed the door behind Hermione. Instead of answering right away he went to his liquor cabin and pour them both a tumbler of Fire Whiskey.
"Don't be dense Draco. You're not the only one with deductive reasoning skills." He said, back to his usual gruff tones, "however, I have little more wisdom in the subject and was just playing my part."
Malfoy was still having a hard time grasping what had happened. "Okay, I understand you know about her rape too. We should recognize it better than most. But to what end was that little scene necessary?" Snape shook his head. Draco could be smart and slippery like a snake but sometimes...sometimes his hair was brighter than he was.
"I really must get you a dunce cap," the older wizard retorted, "we have a name now, Draco. The little Weasel is going to wish he never laid hands on Hermione Granger." Draco could see the gleam of fury in his Godfather's eye. He watched as the former headmaster grabbed his wand, cloak and most surprisingly two masks reminiscent of their Death Eater days. "It won't do for the brat to know who we are," Snape murmured as he handed Draco the spare. A sense of dread filled both men as they donned their cloaks. The whole situation felt much too familiar, even if it was for a "good" reason this time. With a sense of disgust, Draco pocketed the mask and followed Snape.
Severus led the way to his floo and threw in a handful of the green powder; he yelled "The Three Broomsticks" as he was engulfed in green flames. Al thought slightly confused, Draco diligently followed. As soon as he stepped out of the grate, the elder Slytherin stomped out of the pub and only paused momentarily by the door before grabbing Draco by the arm and apparating away.
The two stood in front of a leaning house, where room upon room had been stacked one on top of the other. Malfoy couldn't help shudder when he saw the rickety dwelling. He wasn't sure he could call it a house. A shack was a more accurate description.
With a puff of smoke, Malfoy saw Snape send out a messenger spell. "Put your mask on, boy" the elder wizard roughly said. The spell went up the building and into a window at the very top, presumably the Weasel's room. As soon as the spell had found its target Snape spoke, "Ronald Weasley we, the two gentlemen standing outside, request a duel. This duel will take place now and will be in honor of Hermione Granger. You may request a second, but retreating is not an option." Draco knew full well only he and Ron could hear Snape, as the spell was tailored specifically to the Weasel. He was very glad to not be on the receive end of this summon.
He had seen Lucius use it before on errands for the Dark Lord. The spell was impossible to ignore, you had to do what it said or suffer the consequences. Unlike the Imperious, this was not an Unforgivable Curse, one did have the mental ability to disagree but felt pain if they decided not to follow orders. A slight scream could be heard from where they were standing, it seemed Weasley had tried to go against the spell.
As the two former Death Eaters patiently waited for Weasel to figure out that he couldn't avoid the duel, Draco went over offensive and defensive spells. He was obviously meant to be Severus' second. Snape would make short work of the redhead but having both men there posed an imposing sight. Between the black cloaks and the masks, any wizard would have been petrified. The list of spells he came up with was never ending, yet he hoped he wouldn't need a single one. Getting his hands dirty had never been his cup of tea and now...well, the war had only made that habit more important.
It seemed like forever later when a frantic and disheveled Ronald Weasley walked out of the house. He was still tugging on his, now too big, trousers as he stumbled out of the house. Ron gripped his wand in one hand and his trousers in his other. "Who are you?" He shouted at the two Slytherins. Neither one answered. Patiently, they waited for Ron to take up a dueling position.
That moment never came. Molly Weasley stormed out after him, raised her wand and yelled, "levicorpus! Ronald Billius Weasley! Where do you think you are going?! We told you, you were not to leave the house. How did you get your wand? Oh no, you don't mister!" Seemingly oblivious to the two wizards standing only a couple yards away, Molly grabbed Ron's wand and snapped it in half. If it weren't for the blood flowing to his head, all the color would have drained from his face. There was no way to defend himself now. He hadn't even managed to get a second for crying out loud.
After she'd snapped his wand in half, Molly had left him hanging there and went back towards the house. "Well, well, well, this has become much easier for us. You see, we're here to defend Hermione Granger's virtue." Snape growled at the boy.
"Virtue, my arse. I can assure you there wasn't any virtue to be had. The little cunt hadn't saved herself for marriage. No, she just didn't want me!" Ron seemed to have lost all common sense, firing off what came into his enraged mind. He could hear the blood rushing in his ears and feel his heart beat faster as the anger brewed inside him. "Silencio," Draco said, "I have heard enough of your bile! Virgin or not, you stole something from Hermione that you had no right to!" Slowly, he circled the bastard. If only the Unforgivable Curses didn't have a trace on them now. He'd know exactly which curse to use. For every increment of anger Ron felt, Draco felt disgust. The world saw him as evil incarnate for his misdeeds before changing sides. But never, never would he have touched a female in the way Weasley had. It was one of the vilest things any human being could inflict upon another.
It seemed Snape had a similar idea and threw a "ruptura" at Ron. Suddenly, every bone in his body started snapping and directing itself at odd angles. Draco mentally cringed and tried his very best not to vomit. It really was a horrific sight. It was a quick and clean pain, unlike the Cruciatus, but it was still extremely dark magic. It took pure hatred and raw power to make it work.
"It seems we have completed what we came to do, with or without the duel. You are scum and deserve much worse than this. But I believe I'll leave you to your mother's devices now." Snape said as he bowed towards the front door of The Burrow, where Molly Weasley patiently stood. She inclined her head to the two and looked back at her son. Apparently she was going to let them go because she knew full well that they could do worse in an attempt to avenge the young brunette.
She mercilessly dropped her son to the ground with a flick of the wrist and levitated him into the house. In a way, she'd saved him from a worse fate by avoiding a duel. Yet she'd appeased the two cloaked figures by giving them what they wanted. It had been the only way she could protect her boy and punish him at the same time. She was just glad they'd been so merciful.
Draco and Severus both apparated away to Hogsmeade with a pop and made their way back to school without anybody realizing what had transpired. Well, nobody except Ron, Molly, Draco and Severus.
