Hermione awoke to a crash. Looking around briefly, she realized Malfoy nowhere to be seen. A headache was already assaulting her and all of her senses--the lights were too bright, the chair arm too hard, and the continuous noise streaming from Malfoy's room was far too loud. She groggily wiped at her eyes, trying to recount the events of last night.
She had started drinking after Malfoy conjured a glass in front of her, but eventually, after however many drinks, things had become hazy. Thinking so hard was intensifying her headache, and as much as she hated to admit it, she simply could not remember what had happened after she lost count of her drinks.
For a brief moment she wondered if Malfoy had put something in one of her drinks once she was intoxicated.
What if he intended to rape me? What if he did rape me?
Panicking, Hermione slipped her hand beneath her knickers. What she was looking for, she wasn't sure. Evidence? She meticulously explored her nether region, looking for any clues that would indicate that she had been violated. The rational part of her mind told her that even if something had occurred, there would be no clues. Malfoy was not an oaf, though she found herself wishing he were.
"Bloody hell, Granger. Don't tell me you think I would soil myself with the likes of you!", barked Malfoy from his doorway where he had been watching her.
"You do one nice thing for the little mudblood, and she thinks you fancy her."
Malfoy issued her his trademark smirk as she turned a deep shade of red and adjusted herself. Hermione was not sure if she was angry, embarrassed, or offended.
Offended, she chastised herself, why would I be offended? It's Malfoy, of all people.
Perhaps a little of all three, she decided.
While she had grown familiar with remarks about her blood status, especially from Malfoy, his jibe had caught her off guard. The mere idea the she thought that he would want her in that regard left her feeling almost silly. And the fact that he knew what her thoughts were made it all that much worse.
"Perhaps I shouldn't offer you this, or you'll think I want to marry you next.", he coldly stated, interrupting her thoughts.
Hermione refused to look at him, choosing a spot on the floor to focus her attention.
Malfoy scoffed, placing a small vial on the table.
"Drink this. It is time for breakfast and we have work to do.", and, with that, he strode out of the room.
Hermione finally released the breath she had been holding when he was gone. She picked up the small vial and carefully examined it. It looked very much like a type of healing potion. Surely it must be something she would be grateful for, otherwise he would not have scolded that she might want to marry him.
She uncorked the vial and drank its contents. A warm feeling washed over her, and her headache was gone almost immediately, as was the sick feeling that had settled in her stomach when she awoke earlier. Hermione surmised that she should hurry, since Draco had already left. She decided that she did not have time to bathe herself, so she simply washed her face and tamed her hair before throwing on fresh robes and rushing out the door.
By the time she entered the Great Hall, breakfast was almost at an end. There were only a handful of students milling about, including Malfoy. Not wanting to be in the same room with him at the current moment, especially considering the lack of people, Hermione grabbed two cold blueberry scones and rushed to her section of castle repairs.
Once she had reached her destination she sat on the cold stone floor and began to eat her scones and recount the events of last night and this morning. At first glance, Draco's contempt for Hermione had not diminished in the slightest over the years, yet the offer of firewhiskey was a kindness that confused her deeply. And only to add to her confusion, he had obviously considered her well-being when we brought her that potion.
Draco Malfoy was no angel, of that she was certain. Much closer to a devil, if you asked her. She had no doubts that he had played a part in horrendous events during the war. She knew full well that he probably had played a part in the deaths of countless friends and classmates, even if he had not cast the killing curses himself. She could not find it in her heart for forgive him, or anyone else for their part in the war.

Hermione had just finished accounting for a rather lengthy list of repairs in her section when Professor Leefick arrived.
"Miss Granger", he said, nodding his head in her direction.
"Hello, Professor."
"It seems you have made quite a bit of progress here. I was hoping you had, because the spells we must weave into the walls will take a lot of time and concentration"
"Does that mean you have learned something, Professor?"
"Indeed, it does. I discussed the matter with Professor McGonagall, and we did some researching of our own. I know precisely what we must do. Are you about ready?"
"Yes, I just finished all of the smaller repairs and took note of them."
"Very well"
Professor Leefick gave Hermione a brief description of what needed to be done and what spells were to be cast. Being the fast learner that she was, and a strong witch, Hermione had no issue keeping up with the professor. They worked in unison, casting repair after repair and performing incantation after incantation. Hours had passed by the time they finished, and they both stood back to admire their work.
"I must say, Miss Granger, I am quite impressed. Would you like to come to my office for a drink to celebrate our first big accomplishment?"
"Oh, I--"
"Humor me, Miss Granger. Besides, we wont be able to begin a new section of the castle until tomorrow, with McGonagall's approval"
"I suppose I don't see the harm."
"Excellent!", exclaimed the professor as he led Hermione to his office, chatting all the while.

A special thanks for the reviews I've recieved. I have taken the criticism and made the necessary changes, and I am glad that some of you are enjoying the story! More to come! I have given myself the challenge of writing a chapter a day, so we will see how that goes.
