Hermione and Luna Apparated to the location that Ron gave them. It was the same cottage that they were at for the date. Luna knocked on the door.
“I didn't think it would take the two of you this long to figure me out,” Charlie said as he opened the door all the way to the cottage.
“You didn't make it easy. How were we supposed to know that you were back in England?” Luna asked.
“As far as we knew you were in Romania. It's not like we talk on a regular basis,” Hermione said.
“Maybe if you didn't ignore your friends you would have known that I was moving back,” Charlie said to Hermione and he invited them in.
“I was not ignoring my friends!” Hermione protested.
Luna coughed. “Yes you were. I hadn't talked to you in weeks before the Malfoy's ball. I think that if I didn't hound you about a night out, you might have skipped it this year because of your work.”
“My work is...” Hermione began.
“Yes, it's important. I'm not arguing that. But because of Malcolm, you were doing double the work and not taking any time for yourself,” Luna said.
“Okay, I admit it, I am a workaholic,” Hermione said in defeat.
“If you talked to Ginny, Harry or Ron you would have know that I arrived in town the day before the Ball and that I was staying in this cottage,” Charlie said as he poured them a drink.
“That is why you still had your mask on when we arrived for the date; you knew that we didn't talk to anyone before hand,” Hermione said.
“Yes, although I am very surprised at you, Luna, for not doing anything,” Charlie said, handing her a drink.
“Hey, I also work, and well, I didn't think about it, because I wanted it to be a surprise,” Luna said sheepishly. “If I had known you were going to make us guess, I would have started the search early.”
“Are you at the ball every year?” Hermione asked.
“Yes, we have danced together, many times. To be fair though, I have always worn a glamour. It would easy to tell who I am with my red hair, tattoos and burns,” Charlie explained.
“Everything that makes you, you,” Luna said with a smile.
Charlie smirked. “Exactly.”
“Why did you volunteer for the auction?” Hermione asked curiously.
“For charity!” Charlie exclaimed. “Also to meet someone. I've been in Romania half of my adult life; I wanted to meet someone local, especially since I am moving back here. It's better than letting my mum finding someone for me to date.”
Luna and Hermione laughed.
“Imagine my surprise when both of you bid on me.”
“That wasn't easy, we almost lost the bid to the whore in the back row,” Hermione said bitterly.
Luna chuckled. “We almost had a duel on our hands.”
“I could have taken her,” Hermione joked.
“Oh I'm sure you could have,” Charlie said.
“Wait, did you say you're moving back?” Hermione said, setting down her drink.
Charlie smiled. “Yes I did. I wondered if you two caught that.”
“Why? Not that I am complaining, though something tells me I'm going to like you here,” Luna said, smiling.
“The Ministry wants to open a smaller dragon reserve, and I have been selected to scout out areas away from Muggles,” Charlie explained, finishing his drink.
“Interesting, I didn't think it would be possible for a dragon reserve here,” Hermione said, thinking about where dragon could be hidden from muggles.
“There are some areas, but I need to do more research on them,”
“So are we going to talk all night or are we going...” Luna said eyeing Charlie seductively.
“It's not Friday yet, you two have work tomorrow, and I am going to be helping Ginny tomorrow. We need to get our sleep,” Charlie said with a smile.
“Are you serious?” Hermione and Luna both asked at the same time.
“I think it's really cute they way you two speak at the same time and finish each others sentences. It's almost like the two of you are married,” Charlie said, raising an eyebrow. “Now I will see you both in two days,” he said as he opened the door and shooed them outside into the cold night and shut the door.
“That is the second time he kicked us out! He will be lucky if we come back at all!” Hermione shouted at the door.
Luna gave her a look. “Yeah right,” she whispered.
Suddenly the door opened and Charlie stepped out again. He grabbed Luna around the waist and pulled her close, giving her a very passionate kiss. He kissed her neck, tracing his tongue down her throat. Luna moaned.
“Charlie...,” Hermione said. But before she could finish her sentence, Charlie let go of Luna, grabbed her, and gave her body the same treatment.
He abruptly let her go, went back to in the cottage, and shut the door.
“How does he manage to do that every time?” Luna shouted.
“I don't know, but I'm not sure I can last till Friday!” Hermione exclaimed.
Charlie was leaning against the door when he heard Luna and Hermione Apparate away. “Those girls are going to be the death of me!” he said as he poured himself a glass of firewhisky.
“I'm not sure I am going to last till Friday!” he said to himself.
“I can't believe it was Charlie all along. Why didn't I think of him before,” Hermione said as they arrived back at her flat.
“Why would we? We barely know him, and he lives in Romania!” Luna said. “It doesn’t matter; we know who he is now. The question is how do we make him suffer for making us guess and wait?”
“He is a big tease, isn't he? Yes, he must be punished for this!” Hermione decided.
“Another shopping trip?” Luna suggested.
“Oh, yes I think so,” Hermione said with a sly smile. “Tomorrow after work, we will go to a special store.”
“Can't wait!” Luna said.

Hermione had a hectic day at work. Severus had informed her that, not only did he not have any of her weekly reports from Robert Durdrum, but also all paperwork on the project had vanished. The Ministry at first thought that he threw away the reports, but now they think the paperwork for the project had been stolen from the Ministry.
By the end of the day, Hermione had a headache and nobody had any answers for her, but when she saw, Luna waiting for her in the lobby area her mood brightened a bit.
“Are you ready to go?” Luna asked.
“Please!” Hermione exclaimed.
Luna gave her a sad face. “Bad day?”
“Yes, I will tell you all about it later,” Hermione said as they left. “Right now, I just want to go shopping and have a little bit of fun.”
“Shopping always makes everything better!” Luna said.
“Especially where we are going!” Hermione said excitedly
“And where might that be,” a voice said behind her.
“Draco, why are you eavesdropping on a private conversation,” Hermione said, raising an eyebrow.
“You two are talking in the lobby of the Ministry, nothing is really private here. So where are you going?” he asked again.
“In what universe would I tell you?” Hermione laughed.
“Fine, don't tell me. But I will find out,” Draco laughed as he left.
“He's so sure of himself,” Hermione said.
“Just like his father,” Luna laughed as they left for Diagon Alley.
“I can't believe there is a shop like this in the middle of Diagon Alley,” Luna said in disbelief.
Hermione shrugged, “Well, there is an age line on front of the store. If you are under the age of seventeen you can't enter.”
“Convenient,” Luna shrugged as she and Hermione went into, “Aphrodite's Treasures.”
“Afternoon ladies. Are you looking for anything special?” the store clerk asked. He was a middle-aged wizard that wore wire-rimmed glasses. He was reading, “How to Date a Muggle in the Wizarding World.”
Hermione chuckled to herself. “We are just going to browse for right now. Thank you.”
“Have fun. Let me know if you need help,” he said, going back to his book.
“So, what did we want to get?” Luna asked.
“Oh, I'm thinking we need to step out of our comfort zone a bit and get a little daring,” Hermione said, pointing to an item on the wall.
Luna looked at the item and chuckled, “Are you punishing him or us?” she whispered.
“Maybe a little of both,” Hermione winked.
“Ooh I like this!” Luna said, pointing to another item.
“Ah, we wouldn't need Charlie with that,” Hermione said with a laugh.
“Luna look at this,” Hermione called as she walked down another aisle.
“I think we should get a new one of these,” Luna pointed to another item as she found Hermione. “Don't know what happened to our last one.”
Hermione and Luna spent an hour in the store selecting a few items for Friday night.
“So, are you going to tell me what happened at work?” Luna asked when they came back to Hermione's flat.
“Apparently all the paperwork that Mr. Durdrum had on my project has vanished. So now, this is no longer an internal investigation. Severus believes that the paperwork was stolen, so that someone could create the potion themselves, using my research, and claim the potion as their own,” Hermione explained.
“That's horrible. Do they think it was Mr. Durdrum?”
“They wouldn't tell me, but I believe that is their primary suspect,” Hermione said as she sat on the couch. “I just can't believe someone would be so brazen to steal paperwork? It's not like it was a secret project, everyone knows that I am the one working on it.”
“Some people just don't have brains in their heads,” Luna said as she sat down next to Hermione and kissed her cheek. “I don't think you have anything to worry about, nobody would be dumb enough to try and steal anything from you.”
“Unless they are desperate,” Hermione said.
They sat in silence for a few moments. “So, what are you going to feed me for dinner?” Luna asked, breaking the tension that had formed.
Hermione laughed, “It is dinner time, isn't it. I think I have some pumpkin soup left over. Could pick up some bread at the corner market.”
“Sounds delicious. Go get some bread and I will see what else we can have with the soup,” Luna said.
“When did you become the bossy one?” Hermione chuckled.
“When I get hungry, now go!” Luna said, shoving Hermione out the door, and laughing at her stunned face.
~*~*~
Hermione and Remus had a very productive day at work on Friday. They were ready to start making sample potions for testing. Hermione was going to take sample of Remus' blood to start testing the effects of the potion. It would be a while before they would find the right formula to start testing on a living being.
Hermione wrote up her weekly report and had it sent to Mr. Snape for review. He had to approve the formula before they could start brewing them.
Robert Durdrum had disappeared; the Ministry had sent an Auror to track him down. Malcolm had also disappeared. Hermione was convinced that the two were planning to create the potion on their own. Remus convinced her that there would be no way that Robert or Malcolm, if they were involved, were as far as they were in creating the potion and not to worry about it. Just to concentrate on the task at hand.
Draco came down and talked to Hermione before she left work for the day. He assured her that the best Auror was sent to retrieve Robert.
He tried to lighten the mood. “See I told you, all you had to do was talk to the right people,” said Draco. Word got around to Draco that Hermione and Luna had figured out the identity of their mystery date.
“Yes, you are very smart, Draco. Thank you for your cryptic advice,” Hermione said sarcastically.
“Oh, you’re very welcome. Now what kind of sexy outfit are you going to wear tomorrow?” Draco asked, leaning closer to Hermione.
“Oh, well that would be my none-of-your-damn-business dress,” she said with a bright smile.
Remus chuckled in the background.
“Fine don't tell me,” Draco said as he sat up.
“Okay,” Hermione laughed.
“I will just get all the details from you on Monday,” Draco winked.
“You can try,” Hermione said.
“I like a challenge,” Draco said.
Hermione shook her head as Draco left. “He might not be an arse to me anymore, but he is still a Slytherin!” she said to Remus.
“Did you expect him to change completely?” Remus asked her.
“No, and I don't think I would want him to. Then he wouldn't be Draco,” Hermione said, getting back to work.
Hermione nearly ran out of her office when it was time to leave. Remus laughed at her out of character moment. “Don't do anything I wouldn't do,” he yelled after her.
When Hermione arrived home, Luna was already there with her bags from the shopping trip the day before. Hermione peeked into the bags. “I see you bought more stuff today.”
“Oh yes, I just couldn't resist. I bought you a new outfit.”
Hermione picked up the leather skirt. “This is very short!”
“Silly, that one is mine, the other one is yours.”
Hermione pulled out the other skirt, “It the same thing!”
Luna gave her a bright smile. “We are definitely going to make him suffer tonight!”
“Let’s get ready!” Hermione said excitedly.
