Thank you to everyone that reviewed. It really makes me smile to hear everyone's thoughts. Responses to reviews are posted below as always. There is a lot of plot in Draco's part of this chapter. Just a heads up, things get a little more steamy in the next chapter.
Hermione bolted up in bed. Get a grip. It wasn’t real. Neville killed her. This time her dream had been about Nagini chasing her through the castle. She wasn’t real. It was just a dream.
After her heart rate had gone back to normal, she got out of bed and went to her desk. She immediately saw that Draco had written again, telling her that he was back, to sleep well, and that he would see her in the morning. Hermione’s wand said 3:53. It was way too early for anyone else to be awake.
She put her sweats back on, grabbed her letter to the Weasley’s, and made her way downstairs. The common room was still dark, except for the fire. Hermione made herself some tea and walked over to the couch by the fire.
“Another bad dream?” Luckily Hermione had just put down her tea.
“Merlin, Harry” Hermione gasped. “Are you trying to give me a heart attack?”
Harry chuckled. “I said hey when you were getting your tea, but I guess you were deep in thought. What was it about this time?”
“Nagini chasing us through the castle.” Hermione sat down and closed her eyes. “What about you?”
“Walking through the forest to him.” She heard Harry sigh. “Do you think these nightmares will ever go away?”
“Hmm…maybe. It will just take some time.” She took a sip of her tea and pulled the letter towards her.
“Is that you letters to the Weasley’s?”
“Yes. Would you like to read it?”
“Sure.” Hermione handed it to him.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Weasley,
I hope all is well. Things are going okay here at Hogwarts. Ginny is doing really good in her studies, and believe it or not Harry is actually keeping his nose clean.
The true reason as to why I am writing this is a little hard for me to explain, but I am going to try anyway.
As I’m sure you know, Fred’s death has been extremely difficult for Ron, more than anyone else. He has been heavily drinking since.
Ron seems to have found a new outlet here at school. It has been confirmed that Ron was not and not as invested in our relationship. Upon realizing this, I decided to end whatever it was that we may have had.
As it turns out, there is another guy among the eighth years that has an interest in being with me. He has been nothing but nice and caring, and I honestly want to see how it will go. He has spent more time with me in one week that Ron has all summer.
I know that you will not like who it is and probably never want to hear from me again when you find out who it is. I am willing to take that chance because, as Headmistress McGonagall keeps reminding us, everyone has changed during the way and it is time to let go of the past so we can move forward.
He is not his father and he is doing whatever he can to let people know that. Ginny is even giving him a chance.
His name is Draco Malfoy.
Like I stated before, I understand if you never want to talk to me again. Ron has already reminded me that I am not actually part of your family.
Thank you for everything you have done for me.
Sincerely,
Hermione Granger
P.S. Headmistress McGonagall has already tested me for spells or potions and the results were negative.
Harry handed it back to her. “It sounds pretty good. I knew you wouldn’t say what Ron was doing. You’re better than that.” Hermione smiled. Harry sighed and leaned forward to put his elbows on his knees. “Ginny told me about what Ron said to you. He’s wrong, you know.”
“I know.” Hermione took another sip before continuing. “It’s the way he said it. I know I’m not really one of their own.”
“I want you to know,” Harry said, putting a hand on her leg, “that I support you. You seem happy and I want to keep it that way. It is going to be an adjustment hanging out with snakes, though.”
Hermione chuckled. “I know. Pansy came to my room last night. She said that she was sorry for everything that she did these last eight years. She also said that she is glad that I’m giving Draco a chance. She’s never seen him this happy before.”
“She’s definitely going to take some time to get use to” Ginny said, sitting down next to Harry. “Morning” she added giving Harry a kiss.
“Morning. How did you sleep?” Harry asked.
“Fine. Until you got up at least.” Hermione smiled as she looked at two of her best friends. They were so in love with each other. “What are you guys talking about.”
“Draco. I’m pretty sure Harry was about to say that he’s happy for me, but that if Draco messes up he’ll have Harry to answer to.” Hermione and Ginny laughed.
“Oh, you two know me so well.” Harry chuckled and shook his head. “You really have been smiling more lately.”
They chatted away until almost seven, before getting dressed and heading down for breakfast. Once they reached the Great Hall, they ran into Neville, Seamus, Luna, Hannah, Daphne, and…Ron.
“Morning everyone.” Seamus said.
“Morning” Harry replied. “How are you feeling Ron?”
Ron was about to respond, but then closed his mouth and went into the Great Hall. In the same moment, Hermione felt arms snake around her stomach. She smiled just for a second before she remembered that she was suppose to be mad at him.
“I’m happy for you guys” Luna said, smiling before she pulled Neville into the Hall, followed by Seamus and Hannah.
“See you later, Mione, Draco.” Ginny pulled Harry into the Hall.
“Good day M’Lady” said Blaise bowing and kissing Hermione’s hand.
“Get out of here” Draco said. Theo, Pansy, and Daphne followed Blaise into the Hall, as well.
“Hi” Draco said.
“Hi.” Hermione looked up at him.
“Do you want to go for a walk?” Draco asked.
“Sure.”

An hour later, they were walking by the lake, finishing the last of their breakfast.
“So about last night…” Draco started.
“It was completely rude.” Hermione butted in. “If you must know, I was in sweats. And asking to come and see me to make sure I wasn’t naked was just rude! Asking to see me naked was even more uncalled for!”
“I can ex-“
“What would make them think I was lying, for one, for two that I would get naked for them, and three that they would think I wouldn’t notice the difference between your handwriting and theirs?”
“Blaise and Theo got a quill from – wait, what? You knew it wasn’t me?”
Hermione giggled. “Of course I knew it wasn’t you. Pansy and Ginny convinced me to act as though it was you. See for yourself.” Hermione gave him the parchment.
“Wow,” he said when he was done reading it. “Well, now you see what Blaise and Theo are like when they are drunk and have a way to communicate with someone.” Draco rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m really sorry about all this. I didn’t think they would ask for a quill.”
“It’s alright.” Hermione replied, linking her arm through his. “You have nothing to apologize for. They, on the other hand, do.”
“I will make sure that they do.” Draco smiled.
They continued their walk in a comfortable silence.
“Question four” Hermione said suddenly. “Rumor has it that Professor Snape was your godfather. Is that true?”
Draco looked over the lake. “Yes it is. I knew after the incident with Dumbledore that he was on your side. He told me that he had been a spy for Dumbledore since Voldemort fell the first time, but he never told me why.”
“I know why.” Hermione said quietly.
Draco turned to her. “You do?” She nodded. “Okay. Question four to you. Why?”
Hermione sighed. “Serverus grew up in the muggle world. His parents hated each other. One day when he was about nine, he was spying on a couple of, what he thought were, muggle girls.
“One was older and had dark brown hair. The other was his age and had red hair with green eyes. He heard them arguing and decided to take a closer look.
“That’s when he saw the girl with red hair do magic, which was scarring the older girl. He soon became friends with the red haired girl, even though she was muggleborn. When they got to Hogwarts, though, he was sorted into Slytherin and she, into Gryffindor.
“They tried to remain friends, but there was a group of boys from Gryffindor that always teased him. One day, when she stood up for him, he called her a…mudblood…and they stopped talking to each other.
“Serverus had fallen in love with her, but after that day, she wanted nothing to do with him. She eventually started dating one of the boys that had always teased him. They got married and had a little boy. They were happy, but when Voldemort rose to power the first time, they went into hiding. Voldemort found them though, and killed the red haired women and her husband.”
“What about the baby?” Draco asked.
Hermione looked him in the eyes. “Voldemort tried to kill him too, but he survived.”
“Wait. You mean to tell me that Serverus fell in love with Potter’s mother?” Hermione nodded. “I didn’t see that coming.”
“When Voldemort marked that Potter’s, Serverus begged Dumbledore to send them into hiding. He did, but instead of making Dumbledore their secret keeper, they made Pettigrew. That’s how Voldemort found the.”
“That explains why Serverus hated the Potter’s so much.”
“Yes it does. Harry looks like his father, and most of the time acts like it, but he has his mothers eyes and her kind heart.”
Draco stood silently and absorbed all the information he had just been given. Is wasn’t until he heard movement behind him that he came back to himself.
“Hey ‘Mione, this came for you at breakfast.” Ginny handed her an envelope, but Draco couldn’t see who it was from. When he looked up, he noticed that Weasley wasn’t alone.
“You two” he said to Blaise and Theo, “owe Hermione an apology for what you said last night.”
“You told her it was us?” Theo asked.
“She is standing right here,” said Hermione, “and your handwriting is not near as nice as Draco’s.”
Both Theo and Blaise turned bright red. Pansy and Ginny fought hard to control their laughter.
“Sorry” said Blaise and Theo in unison.
“Apology accepted.” Hermione said smiling. “But do not ever take his parchment again. What is said between Draco and I stays between Draco and I.” She turned to Ginny. “We should probably go to the library.”
“Umm…well…you see…I kinda told everyone that you said we could study out here since it’s so nice.”
Draco laughed. “That actually sounds like a good idea Weas-Ginny.”
Everyone ‘accio’ed their stuff to them and started working while they waited for the other seventh years. They worked easily together until lunch was almost over.
D-elloit: Good I'm glad that you will still be invested in my story. I am interest to hear your thoughts on this chapter.
Thunderbird: Hermione is such a strong person. And she knew that Ron wasn't going to listen.
Of course he would cause more crap. That's always been Ron whenever Draco is in the picture. I felt it was best to have McGonagall set him straight because he would be more likely to listen to her than anyone else. I hope you like what they wrote. And I'm curious to see what your thoughts are on the letter she wrote to Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.
I only just saw that you updated ASE. I am super excited to read it, and will as soon as I am done posting this. I ment to comment on the last two chapters but life got crazy as always. I will definitly review this next chapter. :D
