It was a nice morning when Harry woke. He didn't hear any stirring in the room yet and his curtains were closed. He checked the time, it was a bit early but Severus, as Harry now thought of him, was an early bird. Harry pulled out his journal.
Good morning Sev, I hope you slept well. I feel rested myself.
JL
It was immediately followed by a good morning back.
You're up, good. I'd like to ask if you would like to have lunch with me on Saturday?
JL
Severus widens his eyes at this, he supposed it was time, he knew he liked the man.
Yes, I'd like that very much. When and where should I meet you?
Sev.
There are some things. I will wear a glamour. Will that suit you so that we can have lunch and talk?
JL
Severus frowns
For now, I suppose I'll have to deal with it. I do want to meet you, however.
Sev
Can we see how this goes? I'm getting more comfortable; I just need your patience.
JL
Yes, I still don't understand why we can't meet as yourself. I'd prefer a relationship based in honesty, but I will give you the time. Though know that if we see this courtship to its conclusion, I will expect it to be with you, not a glamorized version.
Sev.
It's something you know I can't explain. I have been as honest as I promised, and I will never let you see a glamour on me again once you know who I am. For now, I would like to hold your hand.

Alright, for now. Again, when and where?
Sev
Three Broomsticks at noon?
JL
Sounds like a plan, I'll see, well kinda you, then.
Sev
I'm sorry Sev.
JL
I know, but I'll only accept this hiding for so long. I already like you, I already know I wouldn't toss you out regardless what you look like, so it only you to get over the issue.
Sev
I understand. I have to get ready for work, I'll write later

Severus spends the few days until Saturday in an odd mood he was fifty/ fifty on this date, if you could call it that, he was really starting to not like the secrets, but he'd give the man a while longer. But God he was going to do everything he could to find out who the bugger was. Saturday arrives and he arrives at the Three Broomsticks at noon sharp.
Harry spent his morning with Hermione, perfecting the charms they had worked on. It was basically a blanket glamour. Everything about him would be at least a little off, hands shoes, ears. He was a dark headed boy with freckles and no glasses, and blue eyes. Even his wand didn't look like his. He had gotten to the Three Broomsticks over a half hour early and Barney at the bar kept trying to get him to drink a butterbeer or order some food. "I will Barney, you know I always do, but I'm meeting someone for lunch today" he said, and the man gave him a look. "Looks like our Jace might just have some love on his mind after all" He said patting him on the shoulder. "Just wave when you need me" He said as he walked back behind the bar. Harrys hands were sweating, and he watched the clock and seconds before noon, he saw the shadow pass in front of the pub and the door opened as the clock ticked twelve. There he was. His Severus standing there waiting for him. Harry swallowed and stood up from the booth.
Severus looks around and sees a youngish man stand looking straight at him, he walks over and nods " I'm assuming you must be JL?" He asks.
"Jace Landon" Harry said. "I'm glad you came" he said sitting so he didn't fall over.
Severus nods, " I'll stick with JL if you don't mind until I know your real one." He says and sits.
Harry nodded. "Um, so how was your day?" Harry said not knowing what to say. He blushed a bit feeling slightly awkward
Severus shrugs," slow, I did some brewing for the hospital wing today, that was about the extent of it. Yourself?" He asks
"Honestly? I paced around all morning waiting for this" He said looking into those dark eyes
Severus chuckles, "nervous? For me? I'm flattered." He says. " So, you've never exactly said what you do for work. " He says
"I help people. Basically, anyone who needs me." Harry said knowing that wasn't what he wanted to hear. "The only thing I will say is that it has something to do with the Ministry." He said, giving him something. It was kinda true. True enough for now.
Severus shrugs department of mysteries then he assumed, "all right, for now," he says " well then tell me about yourself, did you attend Hogwarts, what was your favorite class? Where did you grow up? You have to give me something."
"That's why I asked you to lunch" he said smiling "But I have a gift for you first" He said reaching in his coat and pulling out a single rose, charmed black with green rounding each petal.
Severus smiles taking the rose, "Thank you, you spoil me. " He says.
"As I intend to do forever." He smiled and waved Barney over. They both ordered and he brought over two butterbeers. "I did go to Hogwarts yes. That's why I know how beautiful she is." he said and sipped his drink. "I tended to have a proclivity towards the dark arts, but not so much anymore. I grew up muggle. I found out I was a wizard when I was 11 and boy was that a mess" he said taking another drink.
Severus nods, " I grew up more muggle then not, my Mother rarely used the magic when I was growing up, except for potions. " He says. " But to not know what you were, that must have been quite the shock. "He says and take a sip of butterbeer.
"For me yes, for my family, not so much. They hid it from me." he said, and lunch arrived. "So, your mother was a witch and your dad was a muggle?" He asked
Severus nods, " Yes, my Mother was from an old pure blood family and when she chose my father, they disowned her. They were fine until they had me, he got jealous of me, started drinking heavily and regularly, and then couldn't hold a job. Things went downhill from there. " He says and shrugs " it's old history and they are both dead now." He replies. " So, you are muggleborn?" He asks "Then how did your family know?" He asks.
"I'm not really muggle born, just some of my family are muggles by marriage. I think they were jealous of me too, and a little afraid I suspect. Until I was 11, I had never had a proper meal to myself. I was pretty much a house elf." He said trying to hide the pain that was still fresh. "Both my parents are dead now too so." Harry said and took a bite of his sandwich
Severus nods ah an orphan and an abused orphan at that well that was a clue. He'd have to add it his list. " Ah understood, if unfortunate that family can be that way at times. I never went unfed, and my mother loved me as best she could, my father terrorized both of us, her to the point that she took her own life. " He says and shakes his head. " Again, old history. So really, why me? Out of everyone, why me?" He asks.
"I've admired you; I've dreamt of you, I respect you," He said, "It's like my heart called out and it was you that answered" He said blushing a bit
Severus flushes, he hadn't expected that and doesn't know how to answer so he simply nods. " Well you've proved that you're honest in your intentions, and I have to admit that I have found myself liking the person you are. Whoever that is." He says with a slight glare, but then shrugs. " So, hobbies, other than flying?"
"I've found I like writing a lot more now that I'm enjoying it" he smiled. "I haven't really had much time for hobbies, but I do like to play chess." He said taking another bite of his lunch. "You seem to be all potions, how about you?" Harry asked
Severus chuckles " Well it's not the only one, though it is the main one I'll admit. I also like to write at times and reading as I've said, I'm also pretty well versed in the piano." He shrugs "otherwise I haven't really done much either. " He says
"I find that the more I learn about you, the more we seem to have in common" he said as Barney approached with new butterbeers "Thanks Barney" Harry said "Not a problem Jace, let me know if you two need anything else" Harry nodded and turned his attention back to Severus.
Severus watches this and says," Well I suppose I feel better that I'm not the only one you're hiding from. That or the bartender is in on your ruse." He mutters the end.
"Ok, let's talk about who I am. I know you are getting anxious about it. We need to have this conversation." He said pushing his plate to the side. "You read muggle fiction, I'm sure that you have heard of the witness protection program? Well that's basically what I am in. If I want to go places or be seen, I wear this glamour and I use this name. I come here often." He said and grabbed his drink
Severus nods," I suppose I'll accept that, does that mean after I know who you really are, you'll still want to put on this disguise?" He asks.
"Once I reveal my true self to you, you will be brought into my life. Plain and simple. Though it may make things a bit harder for you" He said
Severus snorts, "you do remember that I pretend to be a death eater on a regular basis, right? My life couldn't get much harder. But fine, I suppose I can deal with the disguise if need be. But only in public, if we become lovers, I will demand it be with you, you. " He says " I'm sorry, I'm trying to be as understanding as I can. " He says
Harry almost spit out his drink. "You would" he coughed "consider that?" he said blushing fiercely.
Severus looks at him strangely, " Well that is the end goal is it not? Last I understood it a courtship was to see if a couple was fit for marriage. So yes, I would consider being your lover. I've already stated that I like you have I not?"
Harry gathered himself "I apologize, yes that is the way this goes. Just to hear it though. Let's just say my partners have been extremely limited." He said, "And no one has ever uttered lover in a sentence directed at me, so it knocked me back for a second" He explained.
Severus chuckles." Yes, well now you know how I have felt through this entire thing so you're welcome. "
Harry smiled. "So is Albus still being a meddling old fool?" Harry said lightening the conversation
Severus snorts," Albus will be a meddling old fool until he dies" he says.
The both smiled, "Yeah there was always something off about him." he said. "Would you like to take a walk? I can cast a warming charm." He said
Severus nods and finishes the last of his drink. " Sure."
Harry nods and rises, heading over to Barney to pay for lunch. "Ready?" Harry asked as they walked to the door and Harry opened it allowing Severus to go first. Man, he was glad he had read those books. Harry cast a warming charm, they walked past a lot of his school mates that were there. Finally coming to a more open area. The kids all wanted the shops. "I always miss this place when the snow is gone, it doesn't feel the same." Harry said
Severus nods walking next to his companion. " When I was a student, we built snow forts here. " He says.
"Never thought about that one, snowball fights occurred often though" he chuckled. "Listen, I know it's not my hand per say, but can I hold your hand?" he asked blushing a bit
Severus nods, " I suppose I can allow that much. " He says and holds out his hand.
Harry reaches to take it and as soon as they touch there is a small spark in their fingertips. Harry's glamour glitched for half a second, he could tell because his eyes started to go blurry. He closed them and hoped like hell he didn't totally change back to himself. He slowly opened his eyes seeing perfectly clear. "What was that?" He said. Please don't know me yet, he prayed to all the gods he could think of. Not yet, please.
Severus felt it too and was too busy looking at their hands to catch the glitch in his companion's glamour. " I don't know." He says, perplexed himself.
Harry let out the breath he held. He hadn't noticed. Harry reached out his hand again slowly and wrapped his fingers around Severus's long ones and grasped his hand. They stood overlooking the countryside, the snow covered everything and made it glisten in the mid-day sun. "Would you like to do this again? Next Saturday?" He asked
Severus nods. " Sure, that sounds like a nice idea. " He replies. " Thank you for inviting me. " He says
"I'm glad we did this. I think we both needed this. Even if I don't look like myself yet." Harry turned to face Severus. "Just always remember you like my soul, that what's on the outside doesn't matter." He looked straight at him. "Don't worry I'm not going to try and kiss you" He said smiling. "It wouldn't be very gentleman of me would it?" He smiled again. "Also, when I do kiss you, I want to be me" he said squeezing Severus's hand
Severus nods," good because I will not kiss you until it's your lips I'm kissing, and just so you know, the only person who what you looks like matters to, seems to be you, not me, but until you realize that, I can't do much but assure you it's true." He says. " Whoever you are you gave shown me more kindness, more tenderness and more love than any other person I've ever come across, so who you are only matters to you." He does press a soft kiss to the back of his companions' hand before releasing him. " I'll see you next Saturday then. " He says.
Harry blushed at the kiss on his hand and they went their separate ways, Harry keeping an eye on the man until he watched him disappear up the path. The next Saturday went just as well as the first and they did the same, taking a walk and holding hands.
