"Hermione..."
...
"Hermione...!"
Nothing but the constant, never-ending buzzing of the golden snitch could be heard.
"H-Hermione!" Desperate whimpers left Luna's lips.
...
Hermione has never heard Luna's silky voice be so distraught but she couldn't force herself to move. She was lying on the floor where they left her, curled up, motionless. She was sobbing quietly.
...
"He-Hermione...?" Luna's words echoed in Hermione's ears.
...
"Hermione... It hurts... So much... I feel sick..." Luna moaned and audibly sobbed.
Hermione took a few seconds but finally started slowly breaking out of her state of dissociation.
Luna's vision was blurred but she could see Hermione getting up from behind the bed and sighed with relief.
Hermione's movement was still slow and uncaring for Luna but when she finally turned to her and saw the apparent pain she was in, reality finally kicked back in.
"Oh, god, Luna!" She exclaimed and ran toward her.
"I'm so sorry Luna!" Hermione sat down beside Luna's head and began stroking her cheeks and hair. Her face was red as a tomato.
"I'm not feeling so well, Hermione... It hurts so much!" Luna cried.
Hermione wasn't entirely sure what was she talking about but instinctively she grabbed the golden snitch to get it off her.
"Owwww!!!" Hermione screamed as the sound of a loud zap crackled through the room and sparks emanated from the snitch. Hermione jerked her hand away and looked at her palm. It was red and it burnt.
Immediately after, the golden snitch peacefully placed itself back where it belonged.
"I'm sorry, Hermione... I should've told you... But it's not that... My head... My head hurts... so much... I feel heavy, it's buzzing..." Luna felt numb between her legs, that's how it always went after enough stimulation and edging but she had never been upside down for this long before.
Hermione shook her head at her own stupidity.
"Of course, that makes sense, I'm sorry!" Hermione tried to move Luna's body but she wouldn't budge.
"How..." Hermione mumbled to herself. She tried grabbing at Luna's ankles, pulling her down with all her might but still, Luna barely moved, instead she just moaned in more pain.
Then she kneeled back down and tried to just lift Luna's head a bit but even that seemed impossible to do.
"Ow..." Luna winced.
"I'm sorry, but- but I don't know what to do!" Hermione's hands trembled as she was frantically trying to figure out what to do. She knew how deadly the position Luna was stuck in and she had no idea how to get her free. Realistically, she knew she needed a wand and use magic but she didn't have that.
Hermione repeatedly tried pushing and pulling on Luna's limbs and head trying to position her better but to no avail. She was exhausted.
"Ugh... I'm so sorry Luna, I wish I could help you but I'm powerless, I can't do anything!" Her head sank into her palms as she sobbed.
Luna's vision was not just blurry now but it was getting darker. She tried to put up a smile.
"Do- don't worry about me, Hermione... It's not your fault, you- you're gonna be okay... That makes it less painful, you- you k-know..." Luna struggled to say the words, trying to find the strength to speak.
Hermione lifted her head again, she felt stupid. It was ridiculous in her mind that it was Luna who was comforting Hermione and not the other way around. But that's the kind of person Luna was.
"Oh, Luna..." Hermione tried to smile back but her lips quivered. "I don't want to lose you... What would I do here without you..."
Luna didn't answer, instead, she grimaced as more stabbing pain filled her head.
Hermione ran her fingers through Luna's hair and massaged her head, she felt like that was the only thing she could do. She did this for a few minutes and while it seemed to calm Luna, she also seemed to be falling in and out of consciousness now.
"Please, stay with me. Don't leave me here..." Hermione whispered into Luna's ear, crying.
Luna's moaned and whimpered whenever she was conscious but was unresponsive to Hermione's pleas.
Hermione realized she couldn't let Luna die like that. Definitely not like that. And definitely not in her arms when she just knew she could do something about it.
...
"Madam Lestrange!!!" Hermione rapidly stood up and screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Please!!!" Her voice cracked. She felt crazy. She was screaming into thin air, staring at the wooden beams just below the ceiling.
"Please, I've learned my lesson, just save Luna!!!" Hermione knew for a fact that Bellatrix could hear her. But she didn't know whether she would hear out her cries at all.
"Madam Lestrange, I'll do absolutely anything, just please, save her!!!"
She didn't know if she was coming or not. She might've been laughing listening to her or she might've been on her way. Or both.
"Please!!! I'm sorry for what I did, okay??? I apologize!" Hermione banged on the door.
No response.
Hermione glanced back at Luna, she looked really bad. She wasn't sure how long Luna was upside down but she knew how dangerous it was even just for tens of minutes. And she at least knew that it was way more than that in Luna's case.
"Madam Lestrange, please listen to me! You can do anything to me, just release Luna!" Hermione slumped against the wall right next to the door and cried.
...
There was only silence outside the door.
...
"Aberto!" The door suddenly flew open, startling Hermione. She immediately jumped up and wiped away her tears.
Bellatrix entered the room with a wide smile on her face. She looked around the room, at first completely ignoring Hermione standing right next to her.
Then she snapped back at her. "What are you staring at, mudblood?!"
Hermione bowed her head. "Please save her..."
"Hmpf... Should I?" Bellatrix squeaked in a high-pitched tone.
"Yes, please... I'm sorry... For what I did..."
"Hmmm... I'm not sure... Actions speak louder than words..." Bellatrix noted in a playful tone while tapping her foot.
Hermione wasn't sure what Bellatrix was insinuating but she decided to do the most degrading thing that came to her mind. She kneeled, bent over, and started kissing Bellatrix's shoe.
Bellatrix cackled. "Hihihi, maybe you are not a lost cause after all, little mudblood!"
Hermione kissed gently and slowly, leaving her lips on the boot after each kiss for a split second but she didn't enjoy it. She grimaced briefly after every couple of kisses.
Bellatrix looked down on her with twisted joy and after a few minutes tapped with her other leg to prompt Hermione to attend to her second boot.
Hermione didn't hesitate and started covering the other boot with her kisses. She occasionally glanced back at Luna with dread, hoping that she was just unconscious. It took all her power to not beg Bellatrix to help Luna and just continue licking. She hoped that way, Bellatrix would be more lenient to release her after.
With Hermione occasionally whimpering, Bellatrix smiled and grinned. Hermione did her best to kiss passionately, pretending that she was truly excited to serve Bellatrix.
...
Bellatrix laughed out. "HA! Okay, stop mudblood! Look at me, but don't get up!"
Hermione stopped and slowly sat back on her knees. Bellatrix grabbed her chin and made intense eye contact. There was maddening fire in Bellatrix's eyes, making Hermione struggle to keep her eyes open.
"Don't you think for a moment that I'll forget that embarrassing performance you put on earlier! No, little mudblood, that will take a lot more than just some boot-licking!" She hissed aggressively.
Hermione closed her eyes in defeat.
"Oh well, let's get Luna out of her predicament, shall we?" Bellatrix's tone changed instantly to a cheerful one and this time she had an unsettling friendly smile on her face.
Hermione remained kneeling but turned her head to see Bellatrix and Luna. Her friend still wasn't moving, even the buzzing golden snitch didn't seem to have an effect on her.
Bellatrix came up to Luna, humming a tune, and then simply grabbed the snitch out of the air and stuffed it in her pocket.
"Now, we have to be careful, we don't want to break your stupid little head, do we?" Luna wasn't responsive but Bellatrix talked to her anyway, pretending like she could hear her.
"Liberacorpus!" Bellatrix swished her wand upwards and suddenly Luna fell down, with Bellatrix partially catching her, preventing her from falling directly onto her head.
Bellatrix sat down and pulled Luna into her arms, hugging her from behind. She stroked her hair and cheeks.
From Hermione's perspective, it was strangely kind coming from Bellatrix. If she didn't know she was an unredeemable psychopathic killer, she would've thought that her heart was softening. Nonetheless, she was still worried about Luna and Bellatrix caught that look.
"Don't worry! Your girlfriend is alive and well! She will come to in a minute or two! Did you really think I would get rid of my favorite pet that nonchalantly?! You are truly stupid, you know that?!" Bellatrix mocked Hermione relentlessly.
Hermione blushed but didn't say anything and she lowered her eyes a little so that she didn't have to meet Bellatrix's. While she trusted Bellatrix that Luna wasn't in grave danger anymore, she was still just as nervous and intensely looked at Luna, awaiting any movement.
...
A few minutes passed by, but that movement finally came. Luna inhaled and slightly moved her arm. Hermione silently gasped, it felt like a weight had been lifted off her heart.
"Please, may I come to her, Madam Lestrange?" Hermione's voice quivered, she knew she was risking when she even dared to open her mouth, let alone demand something but she tried to form her words to sound as subserviently as possible.
Bellatrix's head snapped at Hermione as she frowned. However, it wasn't an angry frown, she was confused.
Bellatrix was about to insult Hermione but she liked the sound of Hermione's voice and her tone.
"Alright, mudblood! Come here!"
Hermione started getting up but Bellatrix stopped her.
"NO! Crawl here! Crawl like a bitch!" Bellatrix yelled at her with venom in her words and grinned maliciously.
Hermione, startled by Bellatrix's sudden loudness, quickly got back on her knees and then crawled on all fours.
"That's a good bitch!" Bellatrix patted Hermione's head when she reached them.
Hermione sat on her knees and then touched Luna's hand, gently stroking it.
Luna looked at her, her face was returning to her normal pale, willowy color but she still seemed a bit disoriented.
Bellatrix allowed Hermione to touch Luna wherever she wanted but she enjoyed watching how scared and hesitant Hermione was to touch Luna anywhere new, she was jumpy and every time Bellatrix moved an inch, she flinched.
Hermione cherished the moment of peace, even though she had to be so close to that monster pretending to be a human being. Bellatrix would occasionally smile at Hermione, showing her rotten teeth. Hermione had to try her hardest not to look disgusted.
Luna looked at Hermione appreciatively as she was getting better.
Hermione was surprised that they were receiving tens of minutes of rest, she was scared of what was hiding behind that kindness. She wished she could cuddle Luna tightly but since she was in Bellatrix's embrace, she couldn't do so.
"Oh, you're looking at her so lustfully." Bellatrix suddenly noted playfully.
"Umm, I'm not..." Hermione mumbled and blushed. She truly wasn't, she did look at Luna longingly but just because she wanted to comfort her, hug her, stroke her hair but not for any other reason.
"But you are! And I wouldn't want to deny your desires, right??"
Hermione didn't answer, she stared at Luna to avoid Bellatrix's gaze.
"I want you to finger her, mudblood!"
Hermione's eyes widened in shock as her stare wandered downward to Luna's red, swollen, sore pussy.
"B-but, I can't- The snitch-"
Bellatrix slapped Hermione across the face.
"How dare you talk back! When I tell you to do something, you do it! Why is it so hard to understand?!" She slapped her again.
Hermione gasped and a single tear ran down her cheek.
"Y-yes, Madam Lestrange..." For most of the exchange, Luna kept her eyes closed, she was still too exhausted. She mostly didn't react to anything either of them had said but she flinched slightly each time Bellatrix yelled.
Hermione hesitantly placed her palm on Luna's pussy and started rubbing it very gently. Luna immediately grimaced and Hermione frowned apologetically.
"I told you to finger her, not rub her cunt, are you daft?!"
Hermione cowered as she expected to be hit again but luckily for her, this time it was just poison spewing from Bellatrix's mouth.
She took her index and middle fingers and slowly started guiding them toward Luna's hole. As they brushed the edges, she attentively watched Luna's face to see the reaction. Even at the gentlest, tiniest touch, Luna squirmed with an uncomfortable expression.
Hermione felt Bellatrix's impatient gaze intensifying and thus she decided to stop waiting and very slowly, she inserted her fingers inside her friend's pussy.
Luna hissed in pain and Hermione almost instinctively pulled the fingers out but then she caught Bellatrix's threatening stare and stopped herself.
"I don't have all day, you're making me really annoyed, filthy cunt! Come on, finger her!!!" Bellatrix yelled raspily.
Hermione quickly started moving her fingers in and out. She tried to go slow and gentle but no matter how delicate she was, Luna's vagina was too sore and every single touch was painful, she was barely even getting wet. Realizing there was no way to make this painless for Luna, instead she tried to quicken her pace, to at least make it over for Luna as soon as possible. She never fingered anyone before, so even if every move didn't cause Luna pain it still probably wouldn't be very pleasurable.
Nonetheless, it didn't take Luna long to start moaning, not out of pleasure but out of pain. She wasn't feeling an ounce of pleasure. Luna squirmed and twitched and tried to pull away from Hermione but Bellatrix was holding her firmly.
"You like it, don't you, blood traitor?!" Bellatrix whispered aggressively into Luna's ear while biting it.
"Uhh- Uhm- Y-yes, M-Madam Lestrange..." Luna whimpered. There wasn't a different answer that she wouldn't get punished for.
Bellatrix grinned and bit Luna's ear harder, making her moan more.
"I want you to finger her until she cums, understood?!" She snapped at Hermione with a devious smile.
Hermione looked at Bellatrix desperately. "Y-yes, Madam Lestrange..."
Bellatrix knew well enough that Luna was receiving almost no pleasure from Hermione's cute fingers but that's exactly why she told the mudblood to go until Luna orgasms.
Hermione continued penetrating Luna repeatedly, she was still going fast but not too fast. Her whole forearm was hurting with how fast she was thrusting her arm without any real results. She started massaging Luna's thigh with her other hand to maybe get Luna just a little bit riled up, though she had no idea if it was working.
Luna tried to enjoy it, for Hermione's sake, she knew how taxing it was for her. But she simply couldn't get off, all she felt down there was pain, and all the pleasure was numb.
"Do you like making Luna feel this way, whore?" Bellatrix giggled.
Hermione glanced at Bellatrix and then back at Luna, she hesitated.
"Do you?!"
"Umm, Yes, M-Madam L-Lestrange." It was the exact opposite, she'd rather do anything else but hurt Luna but thanks to Luna, she knew that was the only right answer, and Bellatrix seemed satisfied.
Luna's squirming was becoming more and more intense and Bellatrix had to hold her tighter. Still, Luna didn't feel like she was any closer to an orgasm. On many occasions, Luna tried to close her knees.
"Don't let the bitch close her legs on you! That's not what good whores do!" Bellatrix demanded.
Each time Hermione hesitantly spread Luna's legs apart. If Luna really wanted to, she could make Hermione struggle to do so, make her work for it, but Luna wanted the opposite for her. She wanted to make it as easy for her as she could, but at that point, she was closing her legs on pure instinct.
...
Probably more than ten minutes passed with no results in sight. Hermione's pace was slowing down rapidly due to her arm hurting. And while she definitely wasn't in Luna's condition, she was quite exhausted herself.
"You're doing a really bad job, you know that?! I didn't think anyone could be that incompetent at such a simple task! But here we are, the brightest witch of her age! HA! WHAT A JOKE!" Bellatrix cackled loudly as Hermione blushed and avoided her gaze, she didn't reply.
"Look at poor Loony here! She's waiting for you to get her off, she's oh, so horny and you're being so lazy?! You're not a very good girlfriend." Bellatrix added with a pretentious, judgemental tone. "Loony, maybe you should break up with her, you can do better than her..."
Hermione threw a quick resentful look Bellatrix's way but quickly looked down again at her fingers moving ever so slow.
"Mudblood, if you want to keep Loony, I think you should lick her clit, show how much you want to make her cum!"
For a moment, Hermione's eyes darted from Bellatrix to Luna. She just wanted to lunge at Bellatrix and claw her eyes out. The torture and humiliation were unbearable.
"Y-yes... Madam Lestrange." The anger and hostility were audible in Hermione's voice. Bellatrix could've punished Hermione for the lack of enthusiasm but she was enjoying this too much, only reinforced by her loud giggle as a response.
Hermione moved over, kneeling in between Luna's pale legs, and then bent down.
"Smell it, before you taste it!" Bellatrix exclaimed sharply.
As she was about to start licking, she hid the tongue in her mouth again and started inhaling deeply and loudly enough for Bellatrix to hear it. She could smell the sweat and strange sourness, it wasn't too appealing.
"Good bitch! Now start licking!"
Hermione sighed, stuck out her tongue again, and slowly touched Luna's sensitive clit with it. All it took was one touch and Luna shuddered.
She licked Luna's clit and occasionally slid her tongue between Luna's lips while still fingering her. She hoped that with this, Luna would finally be able to cum.
Luna clenched her teeth in pain, Hermione licking her clit hurt her even more than the fingering because the golden snitch focused mainly on her clitoris so it was a lot more sensitive.
Hermione would at times look at Luna to seek reaffirmation but Luna kept her eyes closed.
Bellatrix licked her lips lustfully, she smiled and attentively looked down at Hermione.
"Please, Luna... You can do it..." Hermione mumbled quietly, no one else could hear it.
Luna kept on moaning but even Bellatrix struggled to tell if she was moaning out of pain or pleasure, most likely it was both at this point.
Hermione licked diligently and sporadically let some of her saliva fall on Luna's pussy trying to get her wetter and lubricate her more. She'd spit on her fingers and rub it around the entrance and then stick her fingers in again.
Five more minutes passed and Hermione was getting increasingly convinced that it was just impossible to make Luna cum at this moment but at last, her moans were getting ever so louder, and while it was still a combination of pain and arousal, she was definitely getting somewhere.
When Hermione registered it, she sped up, intensifying both her licking and fingering.
"Come on, Luna..." She mumbled again.
"Ohh... Ohhh... Ow! Oh.... Ohhh... Ohhhh... Hermione..." Luna moaned.
Bellatrix giggled, sensing it was coming soon.
"Ummm... Ohhh... Ohhh... Ahhhh... Oww!! Ow!... Ohh... Ohhh..."
Hermione flinched slightly each time Luna yelped with pain but didn't slow down.
"Ohhh... Ohhhh!! Oh my....! Ow! Ooooh... wrackspurts- ow! goodness! Ow! Ohhhhh!! Ooooohhh!!! Oooooohhhh!!! Oooohhhhh!!! Hermione! Ow! Oooohhhhh! Ooooooooohhhhh!!! Oooooohhhhh!!!! Aaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!" Luna's thighs trembled immensely as she finally came on Hermione's fingers. She squirmed and struggled harder than ever before, trying to get out of Bellatrix's embrace but it was of no use. She was making all kinds of faces, constantly switching between pleasure and pain in her expressions.
Hermione, a bit scared by the reaction was quick to stop licking and pulled out her fingers and watched Luna with compassion.
Luna was breathing heavily, whimpering and shivering. Bellatrix was stroking her cheek with a thumb with satisfaction on her face. Hermione stroked Luna's thigh again, this time to try and calm her down.
Ten minutes have gone by without anyone saying a word, not even Bellatrix said anything. The only sound was that of Luna's whimpers and breathing.
"Okay, girls... Let's get to the main event..." Bellatrix whispered into Luna's ear though it was loud enough for Hermione to hear it as well. She finally let go of Luna and since she didn't have enough energy to sit straight without support, she collapsed on her back.
Hermione looked at her with fright in her eyes. What could've been the main event? She thought. She still didn't punish her for what she did that other time.
"Redivivus!" With a swift, sharp circular motion of her wand, Bellatrix cast a spell on Luna, who abruptly sat up right after the spell. For a few seconds Luna was engulfed in yellow and green sparks, when they disappeared, Luna looked much better.
Luna finally looked like her mind was present with them in the room. Or at least it was present in the regular Luna way. She looked around and fluttered her eyes between Hermione and Bellatrix as if it was just now that she was properly seeing them.
"Stamina charm." Bellatrix lectured with a mocking grin on her face as she once again noticed that Hermione had no idea what just happened.
Hermione hugged Luna without asking. "You're okay now..."
"Stand up, both of you!" Bellatrix snarled.
Luna was quicker to obey than Hermione.
"Thank you, Madam Lestrange..." Luna looked down at the floor. "For making me feel better." She added.
Bellatrix cackled. "Hehehe, don't think I've done it from the goodness of my heart, girlie!" She walked up to Luna and eyed her up intensely. "Soon enough, you won't be thanking me!"
"B-but...-"
"I'm ready for my punishment... Please punish me... I deserve it..." Hermione interrupted Luna, trying to sway Bellatrix's anger onto herself. Her heart was pounding out of her chest.
Bellatrix's eyes snapped at Hermione and looked at her in sheer disbelief for a split second.
Then she started laughing maniacally. "Hahahaha! Ooooh, selfless little mudblood... Listen, sweetie... Did you think I was really going to punish YOU?? You're are so sweet..." Bellatrix taunted in a sugary tone. "And NAIVE!" She seethed.
Hermione looked at her confused. Luna didn't stop looking at the floor but her body started noticeably trembling.
"Oh no, my mudblood pet... If I punish a stupid, resilient whore like you, you will never truly learn your lesson!" Bellatrix barked aggressively. "...But if I punish your luscious girlfriend... Then I bet you'd really started obeying, wouldn't you?!" Bellatrix teasingly touched Luna's hips with the tips of her fingers.
"Please... she doesn't deserve it..." Hermione looked at Bellatrix desperately.
"Oh, I know... that's what makes it all the better, doesn't it?" Bellatrix replied in a playful yet malicious tone.
"W-what are you going to do me? Madam Lestrange..." Luna asked hesitantly.
Bellatrix grabbed her hips firmly now and forcibly turned her around.
"You know our comfy closet over there..." She pointed with a wide smile.
Luna cried out. "P-please, Madam Lestrange... anything else!"
"Oh, what's all this fuzz! Stop being so pathetic, blood traitor!" Bellatrix brushed her off, annoyed.
"Please don't!" Hermione exclaimed, taking a step toward them.
"You stand right there, filthy mudblood! Say a single another thing and I'll add a day in the closet for this blonde slut for every word you speak!"
Hermione didn't say another word, she just simply groaned in anger and stomped her foot.
Bellatrix tried grabbing Luna's hair but to Hermione's huge surprise, Luna tried to defend herself by grabbing Bellatrix's wrists.
"I don't want to-"
"Shut up! Get- those- pesky- hands- away from me!" Bellatrix did struggle slightly but ultimately Luna was still no match for her even in a physical confrontation.
"You are being a very, very bad girl! That's now how I taught you!" Bellatrix successfully got a tight grip on Luna's hair with both of her hands and with great effort dragged her toward the closet.
Hermione contemplated, now more than ever, if she should try to attack Bellatrix, with Luna finally defending herself, even if slightly, they might stand a chance. In the end, she missed that chance, simply because she was too afraid. Not just too afraid of Bellatrix but also what she might do to Luna if they fail.
"Please, Madam Lestrange! I don't want in again!" Luna desperately tried to drop on her knees to beg Bellatrix but Bellatrix forced her to stand and stumble toward the closet.
"Hush! Stop acting like a princess! You are no princess, you are my filthy pet and you are going to do as you're told!" She yelled.
It felt like an eternity before they finally arrived at the closet even though it was just a few meters away.
Bellatrix started opening the closet with one hand while still holding Luna's hair with the other. Luna was panicking.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no... Please!!!" Even when Luna was so distraught and frightened, her voice was still strangely smooth and dreamy, even her screams sounded like waning moans.
Bellatrix pulled Luna's head to her own and whispered. "Remember, I didn't want to do this, oh no. I would never want to hurt my pet for no reason." She lied innocently. "This is your mudblood friend's doing! She disobeyed and you're getting punished for it!" Bellatrix expressed it loud enough so that Hermione could hear it.
Luna didn't respond only cried and tried to hold on to the edges of the opened closet to prevent herself from being thrown in.
"Now, in with you!" The greatest struggle began. Luna was fighting with all her might and Bellatrix had to put in visible effort.
"Stop- Fighting- Me!" Bellatrix was panting, she was stronger than Luna physically, but not by much, all things considered, she was quite tall but still had a weak physique.
Hermione stood there, feeling paralyzed. She hated herself that she didn't take action right there and then.
At last, Luna's arm strength failed her as she collapsed into the closet. She tried to turn around as fast as possible to get out but before she could, the closet was closed. And with a quick swish of Bellatrix's wand, it was locked.
"There..." Bellatrix exhaled deeply.
Luna cried hysterically and banged on the door.
"Maybe... uh-... Maybe I need to shove you in that closet more often, stupid traitor... Obviously, you've gotten used to not being in it."
Bellatrix leaned against the door, catching her breath with a grin growing on her face as she was watching Hermione's red face.
"Please, please, please, Madam Lestrange... I'll be a good girl, I'll do anything, please!"
Bellatrix playfully tapped her nails on the wooden door.
"Oh, but you weren't a good girl, Loony... You failed to teach your girlfriend how to behave..." Bellatrix stated in a sweet tone. "I gave you so many chances to train her, and what did you do instead?! You fucked her! Horny, dirty slut!" Her tone switched around and she became more aggressive again.
"I'm sorry... I will never fail you again, I'm so sorry, Madam Lestrange..." Though Luna was still crying, Bellatrix could hear a sliver of acceptance in her voice. She also stopped banging on the door.
"And that's why I'm punishing you for the mudblood's failure. Now you understand that it's deserved, right??"
"Y-yes... Madam Lestrange... I'm so, so sorry..." Luna sobbed.
"I know, you're sorry... But, I don't really care! HA!" Bellatrix cackled and banged on the door once before forcefully pushing herself off the closet toward Hermione.
Hermione strumbled back in fear, and almost fell over but Bellatrix caught her just quick enough, clenching her wavy hair.
"This is your fault, mudblood! So savor it!" Bellatrix hissed. Hermione stood still, not saying a word, only tears were cascading down her cheeks.
"Open your mouth!"
Hermione hesitantly opened her mouth and instinctively also closed her eyes. She flinched when Bellatrix's saliva landed on her tongue.
"Swallow it!" Bellatrix forcefully closed Hermione's mouth and kept one of her hands over it while she held her nose with the other.
Hermione found it unbelievably disgusting but there wasn't much she could do, so she obeyed and both visibly and audibly gulped.
Bellatrix giggled as she let go of her.
"Have fun girls! And don't worry Loony, I'll keep you entertained in there!" Bellatrix shouted as she happily skipped toward the entrance door. As soon as she passed through the doorway she carelessly waved her wand and the door locked shut.
...
Hermione gasped and stood there in shock for several seconds. Then it hit her. She launched herself in the direction of the closet.
"Luna!! Luna!" Hermione smashed herself against the closet, she hurt her head a little but she didn't care. "Luna! Are you okay?! Talk to me!"
Luna didn't respond but Hermione could hear her cry and sob quietly.
"Luna! I'm so sorry! I'm so very sorry! Please say something!" Hermione pressed her ear against the wood to hear even the quietest whisper.
Yet, Luna didn't say anything.
"Luna!!! Please talk to me! I know you hate me, you have every right to feel that way but please! I need to know you're okay!" Hermione's voice was worried and desperate.
Luna's whimpers got slightly louder. "H-Hermione... I'm- I'm scared..."
"I know, Luna... And I'm really, so sorry... But I will be here with you, okay?? I will be RIGHT HERE!"
"I'm r-really scared, Hermione..." It was as if Luna didn't even listen to her. "T-this... c-closet... It's horrible..."
"I promise you, I won't leave you alone! I'll keep talking to you for the entire time, okay?? I don't know how long Bella- uh, Madam Lestrange wants to keep in you there but I'll stay with you the entire time, alright??"
"T-thank you, Hermione..." She paused. "...I don't blame you, you know... It's... It's my fault..."
"What?! No, it's not! It's my fault! I should be in there, not you! Don't make Bellatri- uhmm, Madam Lestrange make you think it's your fault! I disobeyed her!" Hermione still struggled to remember to call Bellatrix by her proper title in the heat of the situation.
"I don't blame you anyhow... I'm just glad you're not in here..." Luna still sobbed and cried, yet she tried to hold some level of composure now. And Hermione thought that Luna's attitude, bravery, and virtue were unmatched. She wasn't sure if she would be able to give out the same levels of forgiveness in such a situation. But Luna did it effortlessly. Though, it just made Hermione feel all the worse. She considered Luna the better person and she was getting the worst treatment.
"Luna... I don't know what to say... You're an incredible person... It's breaking my heart that this is happening to you... I'm so sorry." Hermione felt like she'd never stop apologizing to Luna ever again. And she didn't feel like she should stop.
"Please, Hermione... Just keep me company, okay? You know, it's a lot worse being here alone, than with a friend... I'm already feeling better thanks to you."
Hermione slid down the wooden door and sat down, leaning against it. But if I wasn't here, you wouldn't even be in there, Luna. She thought. She felt awful.
"I'll never be able to make it up to you, Luna... This- this is the least I can do..." Hermione sobbed.
"Thank you."
...
"What's going to happen to you?" Hermione wasn't sure if the question was okay to ask but the curiosity won.
"I... I'm not sure... I've only been here twice, and each time... each time it was the worst thing I've had to endure here, Hermione..." Luna's voice grew slightly anxious.
Everything Luna said just made Hermione feel worse. Hermione remembered Luna already telling her briefly about the closet but she just wished it wasn't as terrible as it sounded.
"I... can't sit, Hermione... Or lie down... I can't even stand up straight... It's so small in here..." Luna's anxiety grew ever stronger. "I won't be able to breathe, oh... goodness, Hermione..." She lamented.
"Please... try to hang on... Luna, I know you will do it." Hermione tried to encourage her, though she also struggled to even imagine the battle that was awaiting Luna.
...
"Hermione?"
"Mhm?
"Are you there?"
"Of course, I said I'm not going anywhere..."
"It already hurts, Hermione... It hurts... my legs and back." Luna sobbed.
"I wish I could take that pain instead, I'm so sorry Luna..." A tear went down Hermione's face but it disappeared between her skin and the wood as she was pressed against it.
Hermione didn't know how much time had passed but it couldn't have been more than one hour, if even that, and if Luna was already struggling, she couldn't imagine what she would feel like in a few hours. She was still pretty tired herself but she desperately tried not to fall asleep so that she would be there for Luna whenever she needed.
"Try to think of happy memories in your head, Luna... Imagine yourself somewhere else..." Hermione knew that such advice wasn't much help, at least she knew it wouldn't help her but she didn't know what else to do.
"I can't think in here, Hermione, it's so difficult... I... My head is all confused."
Hermione silently swore. She desperately wanted to destroy the closet but she knew that despite its rotten appearance, it was very sturdy and if she tried, not only would she startle Luna who was already frightened but more punishment would come from Bellatrix as well.
"Don't worry, Luna... I'll help you."
"I appreciate it, you know... Hermione really please... don't blame yourself for anything, you have nothing to make up to me."
Hermione didn't want to argue with Luna, especially not over something like that and not when she was in such a terrible situation but she didn't agree with her in the slightest, so she kept silent.
...
She desperately tried not to fall asleep but in the end, it's the body that chooses. And Hermione fell into a slumber.
...
"Hermione!!"
Hermione was jolted out of her sleep and abruptly looked around in confusion. For a moment she forgot where she was or what was happening.
"Hermione!!! Are you there??" Hermione heard a desperate voice.
"Y-yes, I'm here, Luna... I'm sorry, I must've fallen asleep." She murmured.
"I thought you abandoned me... I called for you so many times..." Luna's voice was slowly calming down.
"I'm really sorry, Luna... I didn't want to fall asleep but... I don't know, I'm just so tired..." Hermione didn't want to complain to Luna about being tired since Luna had it much worse but she wanted to explain herself.
"It's okay... You need to sleep. I'm just scared, Hermione... It hurts..." For Hermione, it was noticeable that Luna was trying to hide the pain under her regular dreamy tone.
The fact that Luna was still thinking about Hermione's well-being made Hermione feel terrible once again, she wished she could give Luna more than just her lackluster emotional support.
"I wish I could just touch you, hold you in my arms... Make you feel better..." Hermione longed somberly.
Hermione could hear a very audible sigh from inside the closet.
"Me too, Hermione... You're so nice that you're looking out for me... You know, not many people ever did that..."
Hermione's heart sank even lower as she still felt extremely guilty for Luna's situation.
...
"Hemione?" Luna's dampened voice echoed from the closet.
"Yes?" Hermione rubbed her eyes.
"Could we talk again? Please?"
Hermione tried to keep up a conversation with Luna as much as possible but there were occasional long pauses in their conversations because at times there was simply nothing to talk about and it got tiring just repeating the same comforting words every minute of every hour. And in the end, Luna and Hermione had almost nothing in common outside of their friends and their goal in this war. Hermione thought that it would be much easier to talk to someone like Ron or Harry.
"Of course Luna, I'm sorry I've been silent." Hermione reassured her. "Hey, Luna?"
"Yes, Hermione?"
"Do you remember our D.A. meetings?"
"Of course."
"How about we talk about that, hmm?" Hermione proposed with a slight grin on her face that Luna obviously couldn't see.
"W-why not." A few bangs and scratching could be heard inside the closet which made Hermione turn her head abruptly.
"Are you okay?!"
"Y-yes, I was just... adjusting... it's painful..."
Hermione wanted to shift topics so that Luna wouldn't think too much about her pain.
"Uhm, okay so, what do you remember about the meetings?"
"Uh- Umm- They were cool. I learned a lot of stuff... The Patronus charm... That one was my favorite. It was like having a friend. And the students there didn't make fun of me as much, I liked that." Luna recollected.
Hermione smiled. "Remember when Ron and I dueled?"
"Of course, I remember... I rooted for Ron." Luna informed without the slightest hint of a mischievous tone.
Hermione for a brief moment, once again stunned by Luna's blunt honesty, didn't say anything for a few seconds.
"Right... I won't forget his red face after I beat him..." Hermione chuckled. "I've heard some rumors that he tried to play it off as if he let me win. He's such a goof..." Her smile disappeared as quickly as it appeared when she thought about Ron. And when she thought about where he was right now. She hoped that he was still with Harry and that they were both okay.
"That's really funny, Hermione..." Luna noted but didn't laugh or chuckle. Her voice could be considered monotonous if it wasn't obvious in her tone how hard she was trying to suppress her pain.
"Uhm... Do you remember how you helped Harry to get everyone on board with the signage? You know, for D.A." Hermione continued.
"Oh yes... Hmm, really, I helped him? That's nice. I just asked him about the Patronus charm, I was curious."
"Yes, you did! Because you are amazing! I'm just sorry that you didn't get enough appreciation when things were better..." Hermione regretted how little she took Luna seriously and how she even made fun of her before getting to know her.
"T-thank you, Hermione..." Luna stuttered.
"You have nothing to thank me for Luna... You are the nicest person I've ever met." She wasn't lying. Her best friends were Harry and Ron... Well, Ron might've been something more now. But they both knew how to be a bit thickheaded, arrogant, stubborn, and even rude. But Luna was never any of that. Even though she had her own head and very strange opinions and thoughts, she was never mean or arrogant.
"Hmm...." Luna kept silent.
Hermione sighed and grabbed her head. She still had a headache. She had her knees curled up to her breasts and was sitting as close to the closet as physically possible.
She wanted to share more fond memories with Luna but she honestly couldn't remember many of them. Most of them were filled with stress and dread when they were fighting someone or recollections of Luna being a target of mockery and bullying and that's definitely not something Luna needed to hear right now.
As much as Hermione resisted, she couldn't help but drift off after another long silence.
...
Once again, Hermione was thrown out of her sleep, this time by loud painful moans and cries.
"Luna! What's going on?!"
"Ugh- Oh! You're- still there! Oww!" Luna screamed.
"Yes, I am, I'm so sorry! I must've fallen asleep again..."
"Hermione, my legs hurt soo much!! I don't know what to do! I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't- Oww!!" She blurted her words.
Hermione was freaked out by Luna's sudden nearly hysterical behavior. She wasn't trying to hide her discomfort anymore. Hermione realized she had to be asleep for a considerable amount of time for Luna's situation to worsen that much.
"Luna! You're going to be okay! Trust me! Try to calm down for me, okay??" Hermione yelled, not knowing what to do herself.
"I can't Hermione, it hurts!!"
"Umm, Luna listen, maybe you could try to shuffle around like you did before, remember??"
Without a word, Hermione could hear various scratching and banging inside the closet together with a lot of whimpers and moans.
"Luna?" Hermione frowned. "Are you okay?"
"No... B-but it's a bit better. Ow!" Luna still sobbed.
"What am I supposed to do?? What can I do to help you? I can't stand just sitting here, doing nothing!" Anger brew in Hermione.
No response came from Luna.
"Luna!"
"I- I don't k-know, Hermione... If- if you can't stand hearing me, you can just- Ow!- you can just get as far from me as possible... I won't blame- Ow! blame you... Otherwise please just keep t-talking to me... T-that's all you can do..." Luna wasn't trying to be hostile toward Hermione, she just honestly had her best interest at heart and thought that Hermione would suffer less if she didn't listen to her.
"That's not what I meant at all, I'm sorry Luna! Of course, I want to stay with you! I promised you that I won't abandon you and I will keep that promise! Please don't feel like you're a nuisance to me! You're the opposite!" A wave of heat came over Hermione's body. The fire in her voice surprised even her. She hoped that it gave at least a sliver of hope to Luna as well.
Luna smirked briefly inside the closet but said nothing, Hermione had no idea.
...
"O-oh no..." Luna moaned.
"What's wrong Luna?" Hermione asked foolishly, rubbing her eyes again since there was quite a gap since they last spoke to each other.
"It- It's g-getting cold in h-here..." Luna's teeth already audibly chattered.
"What?!" Hermione remembered Luna telling her something along the lines that it could get extremely cold or hot in the closet but she didn't want to believe it. She also thought that even if it was true, Bellatrix would at least have to come inside the room and put a hex on the closet but apparently, she could do it remotely.
Hermione started rapidly touching and feeling the closet all over its surface but she didn't feel the temperate change at all. Nothing changed at all outside of it.
"Luna, I don't feel anything out here!" Hermione knew she didn't really help Luna with that information but she wanted to keep talking to her.
"S-s-so c-cold..." Luna stuttered.
Hermione couldn't imagine how quickly it got cold in there and how intense the cold was. Just a few seconds ago Luna didn't complain about cold at all and suddenly she was already uncontrollably chattering her teeth.
"I-I'm g-going t-to f-freeze..."
"Luna, please hang on... Do it for me, please... I can't survive here without you." Hermione whispered through the wood.
"M-m-make it s-stop, p-please..." Luna begged.
Hermione immediately had new tears going down her cheeks when she heard those words. She wished to make it stop more than anything else in the world. Even if she had to go in there instead of Luna, she would do it in a heartbeat.
"I'm so sorry Luna... I can't..." She cried.
...
"Hermione.. I- I- c-can't f-feel my f-fingers..." The whole closet was rattling with how violently Luna shook inside.
For the first time, Hermione out of desperation clawed on the closet door and tried to pry the door open with her nails but she ended up breaking one of them instead.
"Owww!!" She screamed and sucked on the injured finger that was now dripping with blood.
"I'm sorry, I can't help you Luna, I wish I could, but it's impossible!" She mumbled, crying while trying to suppress the pain.
...
"Luna??"
No response.
"Luna???!"
Nothing.
"Luna?! Please answer!!"
Hermione was getting increasingly worried.
"Luna!!! No... no... no... no... Luna!!!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
Hermione started banging on the door.
"Luna!!! Talk to me!! Oh god..."
Hermione shouted at Luna a few more times with no response at all. She collapsed to the floor and started crying.
"Please... don't do this to me, Luna... Don't do this...!"
...
"H-Hermione..." A faint voice echoed in Hermione's ears.
"Luna!!! You're alive!" Hermione exclaimed. She felt like a weight was lifted from her.
"I-It's g-getting w-warmer a-again..." Luna's voice sounded very weak and her teeth were still chattering, still, that news made Hermione exhale with relief.
"T-that's g-good, Luna..." Hermione stuttered.
Luna moaned in pain instead of a response.
"You're gonna get through it, Luna... If you managed to beat this, you can beat anything, okay?" She tried to encourage her.
"Mhm..." Luna whimpered.
"You're strong Luna, Be-uh, Madam Lestrange won't break you, not like this!"
"B-but... I'm... a-already b-broken..."
Hermione didn't know what to say, instead, she softly touched the closet door, wishing it was Luna's skin she was touching. She still imagined that she was, by extension, touching her.
Luna constantly moaned and whimpered, her muscles and joints ached beyond imagination due to the stress position she was in. The cold actually somewhat helped in that regard, since she was so numb and lost feeling in her limbs, though a different kind of pain replaced that pain. Now, that she was feeling warmer again, that pain also came back.
Hermione wanted to plug her ears and at times she even covered her ears because she couldn't bear hearing Luna enduring such torment but at the same time, she was worried that she could overhear Luna's attempts to talk to her if she kept her ears covered at all times.
Hermione lay down in front of the closet. "Don't say that..." She mumbled to herself.
Once again, she fell asleep.
...
Hermione was woken up with a kick to the ribs.
"Oww!!!"
"What are you sleeping, lazy mudblood! Do you not care about your girlfriend who doesn't have the same luxury?!" Bellatrix yelled.
"I'm sorry, Madam Lestrange." She said with fatigue in her voice as she rubbed her eyes and looked around.
Hermione immediately recognized the continuous crying and moaning coming from inside the closet. Luna's voice seemed tired but at the same time, it seemed like the pain was definitely more intense than before.
"Hmpf... Anyway, I brought you some delicious food, mudblood." Bellatrix tossed three slices of stale bread on the floor.
Hermione looked at it and sighed. She didn't expect anything more. If anything she expected one or two slices at most.
"What about Luna?" She asked carefully.
"What about her? Hm??"
"Is she going to get some food as well?"
"No! She doesn't deserve it! And if you keep asking such stupid questions, I will take away your food as well! I'm being very generous!" She hissed.
"Thank you, Madam Lestrange." Hermione said with disgust.
"That's more like it!" Bellatrix grinned and soon after left the room again, not even communicating with Luna let alone letting her eat or allowing her out of the closet.
Hermione hesitantly took the three slices in her hand and started nibbling away at them. The bread was very crunchy so Luna surely must've heard it unless her own cries were too loud inside the closet for her to hear anything.
Still, Hermione didn't want to draw attention to the fact that she had food and Luna hadn't. She thought about comforting her with words such as 'I wish I could give you the food' or 'It's really yucky' but that wouldn't help Luna at all and it might just make her bitter about it.
Nonetheless, she felt unbearably guilty, and terrible eating any kind of food while her friend was suffering right next to her. But it would be foolish not to eat it.
It didn't take her long to get through the three slices of excuses for a bread and she started paying more attention to Luna again.
"Luna...?"
Luna didn't answer, she simply continued to cry, moan, and whimper.
Hermione wasn't sure if she was to keep trying to talk to her. If Luna had enough strength to talk, surely she would. At the same time, Luna would probably appreciate if she kept trying despite her nonresponsiveness.
"Luna... think of your father..." Hermione sat with her back pressed against the closet again.
"Think of how happy he will be when he sees you again." She smiled faintly because she also thought about how happy Ron and Harry would be if they saw her again. The reason her smile faded so soon was because she didn't know if that moment would ever come. She was almost sure they would never escape out of here on their own. Not unless Bellatrix was to make a big mistake. She had to count on her friends to save her and Luna. And she didn't know if that was in their capabilities.
"Think of all our friends, who are fighting relentlessly not just for our freedom... but the freedom of our wizarding world... and the muggle world as well at that." She sighed. "We must be brave, just as them."
Hermione rubbed her side where Bellatrix had kicked her. The skin was red and it felt sore. She grimaced whenever she touched the area.
Luna registered the encouraging words Hermione was saying but she couldn't get a proper letter out of her. She wished she could fall asleep or faint because the pain was unbearable.
...
Hermione had run out of things to say hours ago, or at least that's how much time she thought had passed. It was extremely tiring trying to say something for hours on end, she imagined it easier.
She decided to speak more scarcely now unless Luna called out for her but Luna also hadn't said a sensible word in a really long time.
"H-h..hot..." Luna whimpered quietly.
"What???" Hermione exclaimed, surprised to hear Luna say anything audible.
"What did you say?" She repeated.
"It's... it's... it's getting h-hot... in h-here..." Luna struggled.
"Oh no..." Hermione mumbled to herself. "Listen, Luna, if you could handle the cold, you can handle the hot! Please, hang on!"
Hermione wasn't sure which was worse; cold or hot. It depended on how hot it was going to be inside but she knew Bellatrix wasn't going to go easy on Luna.
"I... I... I can't..."
Luna's head was spinning, she couldn't see almost anything inside the closet, and she kept her eyes mostly closed anyway but she could feel it, she felt like she was about to vomit. She already felt dizzy before from the intense pain, lack of sleep, and just total body exhaustion but the heat brought it to new heights.
Hermione once again didn't know what to say except to repeat herself because there was nothing she could do or say that would realistically help. She just parroted the same encouraging words about Luna's bravery, and resilience, while reminding her of her friends and family.
...
"H-h... help... p-please..." Luna cried.
This time Hermione didn't say anything, she just cried with Luna. While Luna's situation was much worse than anything Hermione had been experiencing, her own mind was at breaking point as well. Hearing one of your friends suffer in agony for, what was maybe days, while being right next to them, completely helpless, would break almost anyone's psyche.
"So.... so.... h-hot..." Luna was sweating from head to toe. The reason she ended up not vomiting was because she had no food or water inside of her to throw up.
"Oh Luna... I hope you never forgive me for this... I don't deserve it." While Hermione never stopped feeling guilty for Luna's situation, at least Luna's comforting words from earlier partially soothed that feeling but she relapsed to feeling even worse than when this whole ordeal started.
Luna barely heard what Hermione was saying but even if she heard it clearly, her brain wasn't capable of retaining such information any longer.
The bread that Hermione had eaten earlier gave her no energy at all, she was feeling exhausted again and she was no longer trying that hard to stay awake and because of that, she once again entered blissful nothingness.
...
"D-Daddy... is- is... is that y-you?" Luna moaned.
"What...?" Hermione murmured, still half asleep.
"Daddy...? W-w-where are you- you g-going?"
"Luna...? What are you saying?" Hermione rubbed her eyes, this time being more alert.
"Are you... are you t-taking me to... to m-mum?"
Hermione recognized quickly that Luna must've been hallucinating but she wasn't sure if there was anything she could do about it. She wasn't sure if she even wanted to do something about it. Maybe it would be better if Luna's mind was somewhere else. While she hadn't lost hope completely, she was trying to face the very real possibility of Luna not making it. While Bellatrix told her that she wouldn't kill her pet that easily god knows how long ago, she was mad enough to change her opinions and decisions on a whim.
"S-stop,m d-daddy... S-stop pricking me... W-why are t-there t-thorns every- everywhere... Daddy... w-where did- did you l-lead me... Owww!!!"
Hermione didn't know if it was still hot inside the closet, just like with the cold, she couldn't feel the inner temperature outside of it at all. She suspected that the thorns that were apparently pricking Luna were at least to some extent real. She remembered that Luna told her about spikes that Bellatrix was able to conjure to protrude from inside the walls.
Soon after Luna stopped forming sensible sentences or words again, as her voice was filled with pure agony and pain, Hermione cried as loud thuds inside the closet ensued.
While Luna was barely able to do anything consciously anymore, her body was instinctively trying to get away from the spikes, but anywhere Luna tried to move, she was met with more spikes penetrating her flesh. They weren't long or thick enough to cause serious or deep wounds but they were still extremely painful, and given enough time, Luna could probably bleed out.
...
Hermione gasped when she noticed the first sign of something happening inside the closet projecting itself on the outside. Unfortunately, it was anything but good news. She noticed that at the very bottom, there were thin streams of blood leaking.
Asking if Luna was okay, would be pointless. Hermione knew she wasn't. She didn't have it in her to do anything anymore. She clenched her teeth and fists and curled up on the floor while crying. She would bang her head against the floor whenever Luna's cries got louder, trying to drown them out.
After a while, Hermione started feeling dizzy from hurting her head but she didn't stop. She just couldn't handle it anymore.
...
Hermione wasn't sure if she knocked herself out or if she simply fainted from exhaustion. Nonetheless, she realized she was free from her torment for an unknown amount of time again.
What unsettled her the most was the near silence in the room. Luna wasn't quiet but she wasn't screaming either. She wasn't crying or moaning loudly. Hermione could only hear soft, quiet sobs, cries, and whimpers coming from inside.
...
"Luna?"
No answer.
"Luna??" She raised her voice.
Just whimpers.
"Luna???"
"Luna!"
"Luna!!! Talk to me!" Thanks to the silence, Hermione got some courage to try to get Luna talking again but Hermione was extremely worried that Luna was at the edge.
"Luna!!! Listen to my voice! Come back!" She pleaded.
...
"Aberto!"
Hermione never jerked her head that fast, when she heard the creaking sound and the loud thud as the entrance door opened as lighting speed and hit the wooden wall.
She wasted no time.
"Please!!! Please, Madam Lestrange!!! Let her out!!! I'll do absolutely anything!!! What do you want me to do?! I'll do it!! Just please, let her out! I beg you!" Hermione cried.
Bellatrix smiled and stopped moving when Hermione suddenly started crawling toward her, she bent down and started kissing Bellatrix's boot.
Bellatrix's smile widened as she enjoyed it for a few seconds but then kicked Hermione in the chin lightly.
"Get off, you pathetic mudblood! Don't you see that letting that dumb blonde out is exactly the reason why I'm here?! So stop wasting time!" She snarled.
After the kick, Hermione rolled over on her butt and as Bellatrix passed her she quickly crawled back closer to the closet, though not too close, she didn't want to stand in Bellatrix's way. She wasn't breathing and she felt like her heart was about to stop.
Bellatrix waved her wand and the lock audibly unlocked. But the door stayed closed.
"Let's see what's left of you." Bellatrix whispered to herself with excitement but even she wasn't fully prepared for what she was about to witness. She had never left her there for seven entire days.
As soon as Bellatrix grabbed the closet's handle and opened the door, Luna's motionless body fell out like a bag filled with rocks. A loud thud echoed through the room and dust rose around her. Luna barely even reacted despite the fall on her face and stomach having to be extremely painful. She wasn't unconscious. She was just gone.
At first, Bellatrix cackled but stopped herself when she was allowed to take a proper look at Luna's body. Even Bellatrix hesitated and her smile disappeared for several seconds. She contemplated if she hadn't taken it too far, since she really didn't want to kill Luna... yet.
Hermione gathered the courage to stand up and as soon as she got up and got a good look at Luna, just as quickly she collapsed back on her knees, crying anew, covering her mouth.
Luna's iconic willowy skin color was almost entirely gone. Her whole body was coated in red, and her skin was cracked and damaged almost from head to toe. She had what would normally be sunburns, and blisters on several parts of her body. Her knees and ankles were swollen. Not to mention the countless puncture marks made by all the spikes. Her skin was red for two reasons, the dried-up blood and the extreme irritation. Signs of damage by both extreme cold and heat.
Bellatrix, thanks to her insanity, quickly gathered her act.
"T-that's what you get!" She scoffed, still she stuttered.
That was it. That was Hermione's breaking point. After staring at Luna's body for a few more seconds in horror, it happened.
She fainted.
