‘Well you look very pleased this morning’ said Hermione as she looked at Harry.

Harry merely blushed and started to walk towards the great hall for breakfast. Hermione and Ron were asking Harry where he had disappeared to last night but Harry wouldn’t say.

‘Don’t worry about it; I was just spending some time with Malfoy.’

‘Well just be careful you know what Dumbledore told you...’

Boom! Hermione was stopped mid-sentence as they reached the great hall. They ran in to see what the commotion was only to find the hall in chaos. All the students seem to be in the processes of a riot. Sparks and spells flew all over the great as students punched and kicked one another as others threw spells and hexes at each other. The teachers were screaming for them to stop with no success. Then Suddenly Harry saw Draco by the Slytherin table being grabbed in a choke hold by Goyle while Crabe beat him.

‘RICTO SHANGPRA!’ Harry screamed out with a wave of his wand, sending Crabe and Goyle flying threw the air, slamming them into the far wall, rendering them unconscious.

Harry ran to Draco, closely followed by Ron and Hermione, to help Draco up.

‘ENOUGH!’ called a loud voice over the chaos with complete authority.

Everyone stopped in their tracks and turned their heads to see Dumbledore standing before them in front of the great hall entrance.

‘All of you will cease this at once! Mr. Potter and Mr. Malfoy, come with me now. Professor McGonagall, see to it that order is at once restored and everyone dealt with. When you have completed this you and Professor Snape are to come to my office.’

McGonagall and Snape nodded in acknowledgement and began to shout instructions. Harry and Draco at once got to their feet and went to Dumbledore’s side, and began to walk to his office. None of them said a word on the way making Harry all the more worried. Soon, Harry found himself sitting in the seat in front of Dumbledore’s desk with Malfoy at his side. Dumbledore stared at them for a few short moments and began to speak:

‘I’m afraid that your relationship is no longer a secret...’

‘But, I never told anyone!’ Harry interrupted Dumbledore.

‘I know you did not Harry. But, I’m afraid you were not very careful. Last night as you left the room in the dungeons you were seen by Crabe and Goyle. They went looking for Mr. Malfoy and came upon the both of you as you left the room.’

Harry sighed and looked at Draco. He wished there was something he could say to make the situation go away but he could not speak.

‘I’m afraid that Crabe and Goyle have also made Draco’s father aware of the situation.’ Dumbledore declared solemnly.

‘What!?’ Draco said, fear rising in his voice.

‘I’m afraid he has sent word to the school governors, expressing his desires to take you away from Hogwarts. I only just received an own from him, he will be here tomorrow morning to collect Draco.’

‘NO! YOU CAN’T LET HIM TAKE DRACO AWAY!’ Harry yelled, now standing up.

‘Calm yourself Harry. I have no intention of letting Lucius take Draco away. He will come here tomorrow but I will not let him take Draco. We will meet with him in the morning and see where things go. I will appeal to the school governors. Since you are almost of age your wishes must be respected. With any luck you won’t have to worry about your father. But I’m afraid that is not my only concern. You see Voldermort will be inclined to help Lucius, since he is trying to rally any as many supporters as possible, by any means.’

‘How are you going to convince the governors to let me stay? And more importantly how are you going to protect me from You-Know-Who?’ Draco asked with obvious fear in his voice.

‘I can only tell you that you must trust me for now. I’m afraid that you are longer safe in the Slytherin dormitory at the moment so I want you to spend tonight in the room I made for you. I will have two trolls outside the room to provide extra protection. And Harry I’m afraid you can not spend the night with Mr. Malfoy. This is for your own safety.’

Before Harry had a chance to argue Professor McGonagall entered Dumbledore’s office, closely followed by Snape. Dumbledore dismissed Draco and Harry, instructing Harry to go back to the Gryffindor common room and for Draco to go to the dungeons. Harry and Draco stood outside Dumbledore’s office hugging one another tightly. Assuring Draco that nothing was going to happen to him, Harry was afraid that in the end he would lose another person he loved.

They went there separate ways and as Harry watched Draco head towards the dons ons he felt he should go with him, disobeying Dumbledore. But, regardless of how he felt he knew Dumbledore had his reasons and headed towards the dormitory.

‘Harry what happened?’ Hermione quickly asked, as Harry crawled through the portrait hole.

‘I never thought anything like that could happen here. Fred and George are going to be sorry they missed it’ Ron declared.

Harry told them what happened, watching their faces change as he continued.

‘So Dumbledore is going to try to stop Malfoy from leaving?’ Ron asked.

‘Yeah, tomorrow Lucius Malfoy is going to be here to try and take Draco by force.’

‘What do you think Dumbledore is going to do?’ Hermione asked.

‘I don’t know, he wouldn’t say! But, even if he can keep Draco safe here at Hogwarts I don’t see what he is going to do for the summer’ Harry replied.

As the day wore on Harry began to think about everything that had happened between him and Draco. Until all this had started Harry had never even thought of another boy in this way. His feelings for Draco only seem to grow with each passing moment and Harry only longed to hold Draco in his arms...

Tossing and turning, Harry spent the night in a sleepless state. When it was finally time to wake Harry was aly upy up, trying to think of a way to stop Draco’s father. He was so wrapped up in his thoughts it took him a while to realize that it wasn’t a sock he was trying to pull onto his foot, it was a hat. When he was finally dressed he left the common room and decided to find Draco. Half way to the dungeons Harry saw Draco coming up the stairs. Their eyes met as they walked towards each other through the corridor. Now that everyone knew about two of them they no longer had to hide their affections to their secret room, but truth be told Harry felt a bit awkward. Especially as they made their way, hand in hand to Dumbledore’s office.

The eyes of the students stared at them as they made their way to Dumbledore’s office, but Harry tried not to notice, as did Draco. Harry noticed this and realized that all of this was new to Draco as well. As they finally reached Dumbledore’s office their sense of dread could be seen on their faces. As they opened the office door voices could already be heard arguing:

‘HE IS MY SON AND I WILL NOT HAVE HIM CONSORTING WITH YOU PEOPLE!’ Mr. Malfoy shouted.

Just then they noticed that Harry and Draco had entered.

‘Draco, go and get your things right now! You are coming home with me!’

‘You’re not taking him anywhere!’ Harry shouted.

‘This does not concern you, so I suggest you leave my son Potter!’ Mr. Malfoy snorted back.

‘I’m afraid it does concern him Lucius. Now please let’s discuss this sensibly.’ Dumbledore said calmly.

‘There is nothing to discuss Dumbledore! I am taking my son and that is it! Now Draco go and get your things!’

‘NO!’ Draco shouted loudly.

‘What did you say?!’

‘I’m not going with you father. I’m staying here’ Draco spat, mustering all his courage.

‘You will go and get your things before I have to make you!’ Lucius shouted as he grabbed Draco.

‘Let go of him!’ Harry yelled.

‘You will release him now Lucius!’ Dumbledore declared as well, now raising his voice.

‘You are coming with me if I have to drag you out of this castle with my bare hands!’ Lucius shouted at his son.

‘Let him go now!’ Harry said now pulling out his wand.

‘Do you think you can scare me Potter?!’

‘You should be! Now I’m telling you for the last time, let Draco go and leave!’ Harry commanded.

‘I suggest you do what he says Lucius, because he is not the only one who will take action’ Dumbledore declared drawing his own wand out of his rob

‘This is not over!’ Lucius spat.

In that moment Lucius, still holding onto Draco by the collar of his robes, threw him to back into one of Dumbledore’s many showcases, rendering Draco unconscious. Unfortunately it was the showcase holding the Gryffindor sword. With his seeker reflexes Harry dived, catching the sword by the blade a split second before it pierced Draco’s shoulder, causing the sword to slice through Harry’s palms leaving two great gashes in his hands. Draco’s father had then left, leaving Harry on the ground with his son and Dumbledore watching as he turned away.

Dumbledore helped Harry carry Draco to the infirmary as he was still knocked out cold. A few minutes Later Draco awoke to see Harry watching over him as Madam Pomfrey was pouring a red potion on his hands, causing smoke to rise from the gashes in his palms, as they healed.

‘What happened? Are you alright Harry?’ Draco asked as he tried to sit up.

‘I’m alright. How are you feeling?’

‘My head is killing me but otherwise I’m ok.’

‘That is good to hear Mr. Malfoy’ Dumbledore said suddenly.

Draco had not seen him as he was watching them from the other side of the room.

‘Madam Pomfrey could you give us a moment please?’ Dumbledore requested.

Madam Pomfrey sighed and placed the potion bottle on the table next to the bed and went into the other room.

‘I have spoken to the school governors and have expressed my concerns for your safety. Since you are only sixteen what Lucius did to you was child abuse, and I used this to make the school governors agree with me about your safety. Since you are close to being of age they have decided to let you stay at Hogwarts against your father’s wishes. Now for the time being it is still unsafe for you to go back to the Slytherin dormitory so you must stay in the training room. I will keep the trolls there as an extra precaution to ensure you will stay safe. Now if you will excuse me I must attend to some other things’ Dumbledore said.

He turned and walked away but Harry quickly followed, wanting to ask him something.

‘Professor now that everyone knows abut me and Draco, would it be alright if I could stay with him in the room. At least for tonight, after what happened and all?’

‘Well since I have no doubt you will go either way, I will allow it.’ Dumbledore replied with a smile.

Then he turned away leaving Harry to give Draco the good news...
