No One Comes When You Cry
Chapter 60
Whenever Severus or Minerva had fifth year Slytherin/Griffindor for classes, they would keep a discrete eye on Mario Zabini.
At first his behaviour was no different to any other student in his year, but as the weeks went by, both Professors noticed he became quieter than normal. His concentration in class was less then usual and he seemed nervous and shifty.
Severus took to making bed checks on his students and as April became June, he noticed that on more than one occasion Mario’s bed was empty well after curfew while all the others were sleeping.
“Sky, do you have a spell that can detect invisibility cloaks. I have a feeling that our young suspect is sneaking around the castle late at night either looking for a place to secrete himself during the summer, or had found somewhere and is ensuring it is supplied with everything he might need to survive while he is there.”
“Probably. There are several invisibility cloaks in the wall, I can look it up and practice on …”
“You have invisibility cloaks?” he asked incredulously.
“Well yes. There’s at least half a dozen at the moment. Why?”
“Why?” He asked, his eyebrows disappearing under his hair. “Why? Because the Order could have used them that is why. Sky do you know how rare and valuable those things are?”
“No.” She told him innocently.
Severus slumped and sat in the chair opposite her. “I am sorry, of course you don’t. I just wish I had known of them sooner.”
“I’ll go into the wall and see what I can find out after lunch. Do you want the spare cloaks?”
“Yes, Albus can deliver them this evening, but keep a couple for ourselves, we may need them at some point. What did you mean when you said at the moment?”
“Oh, there was only one to start with, but Godric taught me how to duplicate things and I practiced on the cloaks for a while. It only works on inanimate objects though.”
“Woman you are brilliant. How long do the duplicates last? Is it more than a few days?”
“I don’t know. Everything I’ve duplicated so far is still there. Why?”
“You mean it is permanent?”
“I think so. Why shouldn’t it be?” She asked him, puzzled.
He laughed and leaned over to hug her. “Because my darling, any duplication spell so far used lasts no more than three days. What is the spell?”
Sky pointed her wand at Severus’ want, which was laying on the table between them.
“paro, peto-acc tu, vester scienta, vester Virga. (I prepare, I make for you, your knowledge, your rod.)
Severus watched as his wand shimmered slightly, then it trembled and seemed to fade. Next it expanded, it’s girth apparently doubled before separating with a small pop. There on the table in front of him were two identical wands.
“Which one is mine?” he asked.
“Both.”
“Yes but which one is the original wand?”
“I don’t know, they’re both the same.” She told him.
“Yes but I’m used to my wand, the other one won’t be the same.” He complained.
“Of course it will. They are identical Severus. Try them, you’ll see what I mean.”
Severus picked up both wands and tried a variety of spells with each. “I cannot tell which is which. They both feel like my wand.” He said, completely thrown as he examined them both closely. “And the spare wand will not dispel at any time?”
No, I’ve already told you that.”
Severus frowned at being brought to task for repeating the same question, something he found greatly annoying in others. “And I would be able to do this with my wand, or is it only the wand of bloods that can do so?”
“I don’t know, try it. I would think it will work just as well with yours. It doesn’t say anything in the book about it having to be the wand of bloods.”
Severus aimed his wand at a book on his desk and repeated the incantation Sky had spoken moments before. “Nothing happened.” he groused.
“It won’t, you told the book to copy itself into a wand. You have to be specific about what you want to duplicate. Change Virga for Literature, then it will work.”
Severus repeated the spell, ending with ‘literatura‘, (literature) and sure enough, the book shimmered, swelled and became two after a small pop. He quickly rifled through the pages of both books and turned to look at her amazed. This is … I confess I am at a loss for words. Would you be adverse to me relating this spell to the rest of the Order?”
“Go ahead. I didn’t know it was any different to what everyone else used.”
“I shall have to brush up on my Latin if I am to duplicate certain items. Does it work on potions?”
No. Most of the ingredients were once living elements so usually nothing happens. The spell becomes confused, it will duplicate the container, but the potion itself is contaminated. When I tried it on some burn salve I ended up wearing it.”
So why did it work on my wand and the book? Wood and leather were once living elements.”
“I know, but potions are different, they hold their own life in a way. The ingredients are viable still, they can be broken down, separated and used again, so cannot be reproduced like that. It is the same with food, that cannot be copied. Living things are a no-no.”
Severus was unsure whether to be pleased that he was learning something new and astonishing, or annoyed that it was his young wife that was giving him the lesson. He looked at her from the corner of his eye and was satisfied to see she did not look smug at teaching him something he did not know. So he decided to be pleased.
Sky brought up the invisibility cloaks and charms book. She studied the book while Severus set to work duplicating the cloaks. He was enjoying himself immensely and discovered that he could pile the cloaks together and duplicate them all at once. Within fifteen minutes they had over a hundred invisibility cloaks and Sky complained they were taking up too much room.
“Severus they’re everywhere. Can’t you move them?”
He looked at his wife and burst out laughing, half of her was missing since he’d just tossed the cloaks to one side as he made more. “I have got a bit carried away I suppose. He floo called the Headmaster to come to the dungeons and showed him the large piles of invisibility cloaks.
Albus was first stunned, then delighted with them and immediately arranged for them to be taken to Headquarters and distributed amongst the members.
Severus taught him the spell and explained how it worked. Sky warned the both of them that if they started duplicating more things in here she would vanish everything and Obliviate them both.
The wizards took the less than subtle hint and retired to Albus’ office to fill it with multiple duplicates of anything that took their eye.
“Oh my, Severus I can hardly move in here.” The Headmaster said despairingly as he tried to thread his way through the multitude of instruments, chairs and telescopes.
Severus looked around guiltily. “We have gone overboard it seems. Still, I am sure you will find somewhere to put everything. I need to go back to the dungeons and help with the children. Bye.” He said quickly, shooting out the door before Albus could say a word.
When he walked into the study, he found Sky aiming her wand at nothing and muttering incantations. “What are you doing?”
“Alright Effy, you can take it off now.” She said.
Severus smirked when the disgruntled elf removed the invisibility cloak from her shoulders and asked if she could please be permitted to check on the little ones.
“Alright Effy, thanks for helping me.”
“What was that all about?” He asked, barely containing his smile.
“I was trying to adjust a spell. I found one that makes the actual cloak visible, but I assume you want one that allows you to see through it rather than revealing the cloak itself.”
“Err … yes, that would be most helpful. As would the spell that reveals them in the first place.” He said, trying to sound casual about it.
“Severus, a simple ‘Relevare cloak’ will show the cloak.” Sky told him, mimicking his own look of ’are you stupid or what.’
He scowled at her, feeling like one of his own students who’d just told off for botching up a potion. “Obviously I know that, I merely wondered if you had a different spell you were currently using.” He lied, averting his gaze and picking up the book Sky had been using.
Sky didn’t believe him for one minute, but decided not to pursue the subject. Instead she went into the nursery to play with the babies and Severus soon followed her. The boys seemed to take everything in now and were able to sit for a short while when propped up with piles of cushions. They chuckled delightedly when Severus leaned over them and six sets of chubby fingers grabbed at his hair, causing him to yelp in pain as it was pulled out by the roots.
Sky laughed along with them as he struggled in vain to pry himself loose.
“For Merlin’s sake help me woman. I cannot attend classes if I am bald.” He pleaded desperately over the gleeful squeals of his sons.
Sky finally freed him and laughed even harder at the state of his hair sticking out at all angles. “You look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards.” She said between laughs.
He frowned at her, but his smile spoiled the effect. They spent a happy couple of hours playing with the boys and tiring them out. Severus told her about the state Albus’ office was in when he left.
“Severus that’s really mean leaving him like that. Couldn’t you have helped him clear things away?”
“I wanted to see how you were doing with the spell, besides, I missed you.” He purred, his eyes darkening with desire. “They’re sleeping soundly now and we have a couple more hours before dinner.”
They rushed to the bedroom, leaving Effy to watch over the sleeping infants.
Afterwards, when they lay in bed, Sky snuggled up to his warm body, Severus suggested she start drawing again. “We have not had the opportunity to repeat that evening, and I am curious as to what you can up with.” He said in his most persuasive voice.
“Let me crack that spell with the cloaks and I’ll get on to it. I forgot all about them you know and I had a few ideas after the last time.”
“Really?” His turned on his side to see her better. “And what might those ideas be?” he wanted to know, already hardening at the thought of more erotic scenes of them both in deliciously compromising positions.
“I’m not telling, it will spoil the surprise.”
“Then I shall need something to keep me going until then.” He said into her ear, making her shiver.
Sky rolled on top and straddled him, kissing his face and jaw, working down to his neck and shoulder, chest and stomach until she reached the place she knew was crying out for attention more than any other.
Severus wound his fingers into her hair, guiding her movements and gasping when she kissed the head then ran her tongue over it’s length.
“Mmm.” He moaned as she continued to run her tongue up and down then swirled it around his head.
His breathing became erratic when she took him into her mouth and sucked, allowing him to go deep and hit the back of her throat.
Sky moved slowly, sucking hard each time she moved away from him then sucking equally as hard when she drew him back in again.
“Merlin, I am so close, if you want me to … argh”
Sky did not let up, Severus had pounded into her like a man possessed at the thought of more drawings and she was tender. She played with his sac, rolling it between her fingers and swallowing when she took him deep.
Severus let out a loud grunt as he shot his load deep in her throat, clutching her hair in much the same manner as the triplets had grabbed his earlier and pressing his hips into her face helplessly as she swallowed his release.
Sky licked him clean then crawled up to snuggle in with him again, laying her head on his chest and listening to his rapid heartbeat settle down to a steady rhythm. “Will that keep you going for a while?” She asked.
He chuckled and leaned down to kiss her head. “Most definitely. You really are a little minx, one of the things I love about you.” He replied.
In the middle of June, Sky suddenly shot up from the head table and raced from the Great Hall, leaving Severus to remove the children from their high chairs and fasten them into their buggy so he could follow her and find out what was wrong.
He was closely followed by the headmaster and Minerva, all three concerned that Sky was ill or in pain.
The first thing they noticed was the wall door open, so Severus handed the boys over to Effy and led the other two through the door.
“Sky, where are you? Is something wrong?” He shouted.
“Down here. I’ve got it. The revealing spell for the cloaks.” She shouted up the stairs from the spells lab.
Severus let out a sigh of relief that she was alright, then scowled because she’d run off, leaving him to worry.
“Well I am so pleased we have that sorted.” He grumbled. “Would it have hurt to take a moment to explain why you were in such a hurry before taking off the way you did?”
“What?” Sky turned to see three very harasses faces looking at her. “Oh, sorry. I didn’t think. The idea came to me and I just thought about coming here and trying it straight away. I didn’t mean to make anyone angry.” She said, a sad look on her face.
Severus’ face softened and he took her in his arms. “We are not angry with you Sky, we were concerned that something was wrong. Did it work?”
“Did what work?” Sky was momentarily confused.
“The spell, did it do what you hoped?”
“Oh yes, look. Put a cloak on and I’ll show you.”
Severus picked up one of the cloaks and draped it over one shoulder, effectively making one side of himself vanish.
Sky pointed her wand at him and said. “ Per cloak, discooperire homo.” (Through cloak, discover person.)
“I do not see any difference.” Severus said.
Sky looked puzzled for a minute then ended the spell. She took the cloak from him and put it on herself. “Now you say the spell, only the one casting it can see through it.” The disembodied voice said.
Severus aimed his wand at her and spoke the incantation. “Per cloak, discooperire homo.” He was stunned when the shadowy form of his wife appeared from under the cloak.
“Severus, did it work?” Minerva asked eagerly.
“Most definitely, try for yourself.”
Albus and Minerva both recited the spell and were as stunned as Severus when Sky’s shadowy form came to view. “This is marvellous.” Minerva told her.
“I wish I’d had this spell when Potter was roaming the halls of Hogwarts.” Severus mumbled, earning a small laugh from the headmaster.
“This means I can now discover where Zabini is planning to hide when the students leave. Well done wife.” Severus squeezed her shoulder and looked down at her proudly, causing her to smile at last.
It was a further three nights before Severus discovered Marion sneaking from the common room under his invisibility cloak. Thanks to the spell and a cloak of his own, Severus was able to follow him to a remote tower at the far east section of the castle. The room the boy chose was about halfway up the tower and they had to navigate a narrow winding staircase to reach it. The door to the room was old and cracked, but since no one ever used this part of the castle, it was just a none descript door no different to any other in the tower.
He watched as Mario said a simple ’Alohamora’ to unlock the door and followed him inside.
Mario did not bother to close the door behind him, secure in the knowledge that nobody ever visited this area and he would not be discovered. He felt more and more nervouse as time drew near. His father had warned that if he messed up he would be brought before the Dark Lord and punished severely, maybe even killed for his failure. Mario didn’t want to serve the dark Lord as his father did, noer did he want to serve the light. All Mario wanted was to lead a normal life and live through his schooling. He wanted to be able to not worry about death and torture or what would happen to his parents of he did not do the Dark Lords bidding. He wanted to be like most of his friends, innocent of the pain of crucio, unknowing of the plan to attack Hogwarts and murder those left inside. Unaware that three innocent little lives were going to be corrupted beyond imagination while being brought up by that monster he was being forced to serve. His father told him if he did well and lowered the wards at the proper time, the Dark Lord said he would make an exception with Mario and give him his Dark Mark early. Mario didn’t want the Dark Mark.
Severus watched the boy from his position against the doorway. He performed a silent, gently legillimens on the boy, reading his thoughts and fears about the task set to him.
He smiled beneath his own cloak, genuinely relieved that Mario Zabini did not wish to go through with this, that the boy would have preferred to be like his peers and not be involved in this bloody war.
Backing out of the room, Severus left the boy alone in his not so ivory tower and headed for the Headmasters office to reveal what he had discovered.
“I think it would be wise to confront the boy about this Severus. From your reports, and those of Minerva and my own observations he is becoming a mere shell of his former self. He no longer mixes with his friends, he is quiet and withdrawn and his marks are suffering terribly. I think also that Sky would be invaluable in persuading him that we will protect him. Most of the children like and respect her, the younger ones especially seem to look up to her. Do you think she will help?”
“I am sure she would if I asked her, but I have already refused her any involvement with the boy Albus. I refuse to have him in my quarters when my sons could be put at risk.”
“Oh come now Severus. Do you really believe the boy wishes any harm to those children. You told me yourself Mario wishes harm to no one. Why would he be a risk to the babies?”
“I am not saying he would harm them Albus, I am merely protecting my family, as I have a right to do.”
“I understand your sentiments Severus, but the boy has been in contact with the children many times over the past nine months, he seemed as endeared to them as the rest of the students. I sincerely believe he wishes them no harm.”
Severus sighed and furrowed his brow. “I will consider it, then discuss it with my wife. I do not wish to see the boy sink any deeper into despair, but I intend to take every precaution necessary to protect my wife and children. Good day to you Headmaster.”
Severus swept from the office in a swirl of robes, thinking about Sky, Alex, Paul and Tony, and how to ensure they were not put in any danger if Mario was to decide he did not want their help and would obey his fathers instructions. The boy seemed to be worried that his family would suffer if he failed in his duty, that meant the Dark Lord had threatened to harm or kill the Zabini’s if Mario failed. That alone was incentive enough to make the boy want to succeed. If only they knew where Zabini seniors true feeling lay, if he was serving the Dark Lord merely out of fear for his family, then perhaps they could do something to help, but what he did not know.
