Starr: No, but it'll be a while before she sees him again.
imranramji: Lol, so sorry. Warnings were on the first chapter, though. They are the key to change the future. According the Teditrian, at least.
Severus1snape: Thanks, of course more is abput to come. Pansy shows how desperate she is to claim Malfoy, and Jude's story will soon unfold.
For now, let's have a teeny happy moment for Neville.Chapter 64-
"There they are!" Neville shouted with excitement. "Come on!" He jumped up from his seat before the Hogwarts Express could even come to a full stop and ended up losing his balance in the hall, toppling to the ground. People laughed and he got up with a sheepish grin on his face.
Dahlia followed Harry and his friends outside the train and Neville pointed, "See!" He took off running with the others closely behind him. He crashed into a couple grown adults who hugged him tightly.
"Neville!" A woman said. "It's so lovely to hold you again!"
"Indeed." A man replied, ruffling up his hair.
"These are my friends." Neville introduced each of them individually.
"Neville has told us all about you." The man said to them. "It's so nice to hear he has good friends."
"How great it is to see you wandering about, Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom." Harry commented, matching Neville's happy smile, who stood between his parents, an arm wrapped around each of their waists.
"Harry Potter." Mrs. Longbottom said warmly. "I was friends with your mother. I heard about your parents unfortunate fate." She gave him a sad look. "I am sorry..."
Harry stirred uncomfortably, clearly not a fan of sympathy. "They died as heroes." He said proudly.
"Frank!" Sirius came up, holding out his hand. "It's about time you got out of that white room!" The two wizard hugged before Sirius hugged Mrs. Longbottom. "Stop by my place sometime before the break is up. We can reminisce!"
Professor Lupin quickly joined them and also greeted the Longbottoms.
"Thanks for the invitation, we'll owl you for a date." Mrs. Longbottom said.
"Come Harry, we best be off." Sirius set his arm on Harry shoulders making the boy smile.
"Just let me say my goodbyes."
"Sure thing, kid." Sirius looked down at Dahlia. "Well, it's a shame you couldn't come, perhaps next time though."
Dahlia nodded. "Maybe."
"We'll be right over there, Harry." Professor Lupin pointed off a ways, where the Longbottoms had ventured off to, surrounded by a crowd of people, welcoming them back. He and Sirius left to give Harry a moment alone with his friends.
"Well... see you after the Holidays..." He said to Dahlia.
Dahlia hugged him. "I'm a bit... scared." She whispered.
Harry chuckled. "It'll be alright. They're your parents, they'll do you no harm."
"How about one of them for me?" Draco asked, tapping Dahlia's shoulder.
Ron snorted. "Draco, what on Earth are you doing?"
Dahlia looked around and saw Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy watching Draco intently. "Um... I don't think that's a swell idea." The others followed her gaze.
"Draco, you're not using Dahlia to irritate your father, are you?" Hermione asked disapprovingly.
"Draco...?" Harry narrowed his eyes.
"Come on..." Draco pleaded Dahlia with his eyes.
Dahlia sighed. She pulled Draco into a hug. "This is not healthy, you know." she told to him.
"You smell nice." Draco murmured in a daze. "Lemon and... is that lavender?"
Dahlia laughed and pushed from him. "You're so flattering!"
He smirked in triumphant. "T'won't be long, little flower." He snatched her hand and removed an object from the pocket of his robes. "For you." He whispered, slipping a ring onto her finger, and he then kissed her cheek.
"Draco!" Harry and Ron out gasped in surprise.
"It's just for show!" Draco muttered.
Dahlia was stunned, staring at the silver band displaying a green gem as bright as her eyes. "It's pretty, Draco, but-"
"Oh, Lord!" Hermione hissed. "They're coming!"
The group went still as the Malfoys approached them with prowling looks. Dahlia swallowed hard when she met Mr. Malfoy's cold, grey eyes, they traveled down to her hand, and she instantly tucked both her hands behind her back, forcing a timid smile on her face.
Mr. Malfoy pursed his lips, but said nothing. "Draco. Come now." He ordered in a dangerous tone and, even with as angry as you could tell he was, he still was able to walk off with such grace that Dahlia stared with admiration.
"Do you think he'll be back?" Ron asked about Draco.
"If he's still alive by Christmas, I'll be surprised." Harry answered, watching Draco stalk behind his mother with clenched fists.
The group separated then. Dahlia had to meet with her 'parents' now. She took a deep breath and displayed a smile fitting for a teenager girl who was being reunited with her loving family after several months.
"Mum! Dad! Duddlers!" She exclaimed hugging each one. It felt weird hugging someone, but in a good way. These people loved her, even if she didn't know them.
"Missed you, sis." Dudley was smiling. "How was your term? You didn't write much..."
"Yes, why is that?" Dad asked.
"The last few months have been incredibly exhausting." She said truthfully.
"And your mid-term grades are awful." Mum huffed. "I see no point in sending you to that school if you're not going to learn anything from it!"
"My teachers have assigned me extra lessons to catch up. I'll be working with tutors until I progress." Mum seemed pleased to hear that.
Dudley offered to take Dahlia's trunk to the car for her. "Thank you, Dudley." She eyed his bulky body, a complete 360 from what she knew about him in the future. She couldn't disagree with some of the influences she has had on the people in this timeline. Dudley looked really nice.
On the way home, The Dursleys wanted to hear all about Dahlia's time at school, so she told them about the revealing of Sirius' innocence and Neville's parents coming out of their insanity, earning Professor Snape (who she had said was her favourite teacher, and had gotten an odd look from her Mum for it) an award.
"Snape has earned an award?" Mum raised her eyebrows in shock. "Never thought that man would be capable of anything but being an example of why you should shower everyday."
Dahlia frowned at that. "That's not nice to say..."
"It's true."
"There's probably a reason he looks like way."
"It's called not bathing, sweetheart." Dad said gently.
"Well... he always smells clean..." Dahlia defended him. Citrus usually, mixed in with a bit of a cologne scent.
"Deodorizer." Mum said pointedly.
"With all the magical possibilities, he could have a strong one." Dudley shrugged.
Dahlia crossed her arms with a huff and stared at the window she sat by. She was already missing Hogwarts... No one made fun of Professor Snape there. He was a hero.
The Dursley home was spotlessly clean, much like her own home in the future. Mum informed her that they had gotten a house keeper to ensure everything stayed in order. Dahlia discovered the woman was pretty lazy. She had no job and went out with her friends a lot, leaving Dad to do all the financial work. But this he didn't seem to mind. Vernon was a very happy man it appeared. He also was close to Dahlia.
"Anything interesting happen that you didn't wish to share with your mother?" He asked. They were in Dahlia's very colourful room, a room that she could get used to, reminding her of the colours of her former life. It had a pink and white dresser, blue walls and violet bedding and curtains.
"Not really." She took Stivus out of his cage so he could also make himself at home.
Dad looked kind of dejected. "Usually you come home with all sort of exciting stories."
"I've been too focused on my studies to give much notice to anything exciting." She answered. There was a slight truth in those words. She had spend the last several months working on trying to get her memories back, while also conversing with the Headmaster on the Voldemort problem.
"What about that young fella? Draco was his name?"
Dahlia bit her lip to keep from smiling as the face of the blonde Slytherin came to her immediate mind.
Vernon Dursley had noticed this. "Ah..."
"How do you know about him, Dad?"
Dad's eyebrow raised. "What young boy hands out gifts to a girl if he's not remotely interested in her?"
Dahlia sighed. "I'm trying to keep my distance from Draco."
"That's good news to me." Dad said with relief. "May I ask why though?"
"It just won't work out."
Dad was silent for a few moments, frowning in thought. "Is it because of the Morgan boy?"
"Who?"
"Craig Morgan." he replied. "The boy up the street." He gave a slight look of disgust to that.
That name had no familiarity to Dahlia. Harry hadn't mentioned the boy. Whether he chose to or not, because of the relationship Draco so desired to have with her, she had no idea.
Could she had liked the muggle boy? She couldn't see why not. She liked Draco.
Dahlia groaned as naughty ideas formed into her head. Mentally, she was several years older than Draco. Of course sexually, he seemed to match her point for point there. Physically though, they were just thirteen. Which was awfully young; in both her culture and his, although, not unheard of in the Wizard World, as Wizard teenagers hit puberty a bit earlier, and if Divians started having such feelings at that age, they too, would have sex prematurely.
Divians sex drive didn't begin until precisely the third day of 'The Moment' of their seventieth year of existence. It was like clockwork with Divians. It kicked in just as if there was an hour hand that struck certain parts of their bodies. When that happened, it was time to search. Search until they found what they were 'looking' for and then return home. If they were successful, that was it. They only had to do it one time, and their number one duty in life was through. But if they failed, they would have to keep trying every year until they were just too old to reproduce. This didn't happen often though, Divians were usually fertile.
She met Craig Morgan two days later. He came to the Dursley household, requesting for her. Dudley had knocked on Dahlia's bedroom door and announced Craig's arrival with a grim look.
"He's here..."
"Who?"
"Craig..."
"The neighbor boy." Dahlia said softly, reminder herself who he was.
"What should I tell him this time?" Dudley asked.
"I'll be right down." Dahlia told her brother, cuddling Stivus to her chest. She and him had been laying on the floor. She had talked to him, and the snake slithered around her in complete bliss. Harry had told her that her pet had missed her company during her time in the solitary spare room of Professor Snape's, and she had been trying to make up for it.
"I'll be back in a while." She set Stivus onto her bed. He slunk under her pillow, his head popping out, fanning his tongue at her.
Downstairs, the boy was speaking to Mum. The two got along well, Dahlia noticed. Mum had even laughed at something he had said.
"Here she is, hon!" Mum said when Dahlia approached the two.
Craig turned around to greet Dahlia. A smile already on his face, widening at the sight of her. "Miss Dursley." He said with a purring voice. "Welcome back."
He wore a light blue turtle neck with a matching button down plaid sweater vest which had been left unbuttoned. His pants were solid white. He had bright blue eyes, and thin eyebrows. His nose was short, and a bit too plump, Dahlia found it cute though. Craig stood two heads taller than her. Dahlia had been told that she was a short girl, although, this boy was taller than Dudley.
Something wasn't right about him. There something odd about the glint of his eyes, the twitch of his smile. Whatever it was, it made Dahlia's skin crawl. This boy could not be trusted.
"Something wrong?" He asked, prompting her for a return of his greeting.
Swallowing down the edgy feeling, she shook her head and forced a smile. "Not at all, Mr. Morgan." She had no idea why he had addressed her formally, but figured it was safer to do the same to him. This had earned her a smile.
"Well, I'm sure you two have a lot to talk about!" Mum said cheerily. "Why don't you make a snack, Dahlia, and you can talk in the kitchen."
"Sure..." Dahlia said uncertainly, eyeing the boy strangely. What was her gut trying to tell her about this boy?
Craig followed her into the kitchen, where she aimlessly searched for something to serve.
"You look beautiful." Craig commented, sitting down at the table.
"Hmm... thanks." She was told that often enough by Draco, and even a few other boys who would admire her from afar. She hadn't considered this before in her life, but her sudden presence in the Wizard World made her look in the mirror more, unable to disagree with what she was constantly told.
"No cheese." He bluntly told Dahlia who had found some crackers and toppings to serve. "I almost wonder if you try to make me sick." He chuckled at that, but the look he gave her was a serious one.
"I wouldn't purposely make anyone sick." She replied coolly, rather offended by his insinuation.
"You know I am lactose intolerant . I pretty much have to say it every time I am here, and, yet, you still try feeding me some sort of dairy product when ever I come by to visit."
"I do?" Dahlia's jaw dropped, surprised by the news. She'd never do such a thing. Or at least... the Divian side of her wouldn't. "Well... then, I apologize." She said shamefully. "It won't happen again."
"Really now?" His tone doubtful. He didn't believe her. "Have you changed in just five minutes?"
Dahlia looked at him, setting their snack down between them. His crackers topped with mustard and ham. Hers, the same, but with cheese. He didn't grab at the crackers like she thought he would. Instead, he sighed, almost patronizingly.
"You forgot something."
Dahlia narrowed her eyes, irritated by his tone. "And just what could that be?"
"I never eat without a proper drink."
Dahlia bite her tongue to keep from asking if he would like a cup of milk to go with his snack. "What would like to drink then?"
He grinned. Dahlia didn't like that look. It was like he had just won a gaming match. "A glass of water would be suffice enough."
Dahlia got up from her seat, clamping her jaw shut. He was a sexist! That's what she had decided of him.
She got him the water he had requested, setting it down with all the tenderness she could gather up. "There's something floating in it." He announced with a frown. "I can't drink this."
Dahlia peered into the glass. He was toying with her now. There was nothing floating in the water. The only thing floating around was his ego.
She gave him a smile. "Then I am afraid you will have to go without." She snatched up the glass. It took all she could do to not pour it over the top of his head. It's no wander her Witch self had tried 'poisoning' him. He was a complete creeptoad! Well, she was thirsty, she'd drink the water, if he wouldn't!
"Mother has said that I need to find a partner for her New Years party coming up. I told her that I would bring you."
Dahlia about choked to death, having had swallowed the water wrong. "No thanks, Mr. Morgan." She had enough of this boy for a year. For the rest of her life, really! He reminded her of a certain someone. Someone she'd rather not think about.
Craig stood up, all emotion gone from his face. He pushed his chair in and walked toward her.
Dahlia set the glass onto the counter, her hands shaking a bit. She didn't want to drop and break Mum's glass.
"You don't really have a choice in the matter." He told her seriously.
Dahlia scoffed. A muggle boy was trying to tell her what to do?! Who did he think he was?!
"You have your doubts on this?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
Dahlia didn't answer and looked away uneasily. She had lived with Blake for several years. She wasn't to doubt Blake because he'd always prove her wrong. This was no different. She knew a threat when she heard one.
"I've learned some things while you were away." Craig told her, a smugness layering his voice. "A lot of things actually. Things that I found an interest in."
She did not dare ask, but awaited for him to finish.
"I learned what you are." He whispered. "That you're a witch, and can do magic. You're mother is highly against this. It could ruin her reputation, see. I don't blame her really. She has nothing else to keep her going." Craig set his hand to her shoulder, making her flinch. "Your secret has been kept safe with me, Miss Dursley, but I'd like something as payment for it."
"A date to your mother's party?"
Craig tilted his head, amused by her conclusion. "Such a secret is so hard to keep. I feel I deserve more."
"Like what?"
"You and I, we belong together. I've known it since the first grade. You either like playing hard to get, or you're just too thick to realize it. I'd guess the former though- you're a smart girl." His thumb traced circles in the hollow of her neck.
Dahlia about fainted. Surely not another boy was asking to marry her?!
He laughed. "Relax, would you?" Craig's voice went low. "I'm just asking for a couple dates. I'll be the perfect gentleman."
"Dates?"
"A couple nights out with the prettiest girl in the entire city. That's not too much of a request."
"How'd you find out about me?" Dahlia asked.
Craig grinned and leaned forward, brushing his lips against her cheek. "I have my ways." He murmured.
Dahlia shuddered and backed from him. Unlike Draco, she did not want him to touch her in such a way.
He stared at her coldly. Dahlia thought perhaps he was going to say something really awful. Instead he stiffened and turned from her. "I'll see you at the New Years party. 8:00. It would be wise of you to be there." Craig let himself out of the kitchen door.
Dahlia had difficulties walking to the table, her knees unable to support her from her sudden fear.
How had he known that she was 'supposedly' a witch? What else did he know of her? And what were his real intentions?
