Chapter 69: Sirius Enlightened
The chattering from her young son woke Hermione. It was cute to hear him, even though most of it made no sense. Rolling over, she realized that Tom was still in bed with her. That almost never happened, so she thought maybe it was the drug-laced tea that was still in effect. Soon, she felt a pair of hands sneaking around her waist, and a warm body hugging hers.
"Good morning love." Tom's deep morning voice rumbled against her back. "I haven't slept that good in years." Hermione didn't answer him, but deep down was glad of what she had done last night. She needed Tom in his best fighting mode. There was no way that she wanted to see Dumbledore winning this battle…maybe the war at the end, but by then her plans would have taken place and all would be well in her life.
"I don't recall you coming to bed last night." Tom mumbled next to her ear. His warm breath sending shivers down her spine. Hermione tried not to react to his words. She didn't want any one, especially Tom knowing what she had been up to last night. He wouldn't be too happy knowing that she had looked at all of the maps laid out in the Dining Room. He'd been keeping things from her on purpose. She hoped it was because he wanted to protect her and the baby.
"I had a hard time falling to sleep, so I went into the library and read for awhile." It seemed to be easier to lie to him when her back was turned to him. Anyhow, she actually had read in the library for a while before heading down to choose her weapons.
Tom sat up and stretched his arms high in the air. The sheet fell away to show off his still trim and muscled physique. Hermione stared at him feeling lucky that he was hers. He caught her eyeing him up. The grin on his face grew wider as he reached out to pull her close to him. "Do you realize how much I need you in my life?" His reached out to kiss her, nipping at her lips as if to taste her sweetness. Then his lips pressed harder, as his hands wandered over her neck and down to her full breasts. There was never any question that Tom and Hermione matched perfectly with their sexual appetite, especially towards each other. Before the fire between the two lovers could run out of control, a loud howling from their son interrupted the two lovers.
"Damn!" Tom whispered as Hermione jumped out of bed to go pick up baby Thomas. "Now days he's my greatest competition for your time." These words weren't spoken with malice, but with a bit of humor that Hermione didn't hear often from Tom, the Dark Lord.
The truth was, the work from The Death Eaters activities was Hermione's greatest competition for most of the time she'd wanted to spend with Tom. Even though she knew Tom wanted her and Thomas, he'd been more preoccupied leading The Death Eaters in this time period than he had earlier in time. Before though, there hadn't been The Order to fight against Tom and his followers.
Hermione came over and sat down on the bed with Thomas. The baby clapped his hands as he crawled over to his father. "Da, Da" Thomas cried out as he stretched his arms out to Tom. Hermione could have melted away right then and there seeing the pride and happiness on Tom's face. Tom scooped up his son and tossed him in the air. The giggling from the baby made both of his parents laugh too. This whole domestic scene made it seem that all was right and well in their world, but Hermione knew it was far from it. There was great danger to her and her son and these happy moments were far and few in-between. She had to keep a clear mind and a plan to save her son.
"You seem to be lost in deep thought Hermione, care to share?" Tom leaned over to snuggle into her warm neck; his lips leaving a trail of feather light kisses that tickled. Thomas crawled into his mum's lap.
"I worry for you and for our son." Hermione could only tell the truth to her love.
Tom laid her back onto the bed. Picking up Thomas he put him back in his cradle with his toys. Coming back to the bed he looked down at Hermione. His eyes roamed up and down her figure. "Why are you so worried my lady?" Tom climbed back onto the bed and put his arms around her cradling her from behind.
"Dumbledore is strong Tom. He wants nothing more than to destroy you and our son. I feel that even now I'm on his list of those that must die." She felt Tom's arms tighten around her in a protective hold.
"He will never harm you again, love." Tom moved, where his legs pinned her underneath him, straddling her. He leaned forward until his face hovered over hers. "Look at me Hermione as I say these words, I will fight him to the death so no harm will come upon you or Thomas. I solemnly swear this to you." Hermione could feel the engulfing magic as Tom made this vow to her.
Tom rolled off to stand by the bed. Looking back down at her he said, "But I need you to promise that you will be strong and make wise choices concerning our son. I know that you'll be tempted to face off with Dumbledore again, but leave that to me. Our whole future lies with Thomas."
His tone left no doubt in her mind what she needed to do now. With a kiss from Tom, and a caress down the side of her face, he walked to the bathroom to shower for the day. Hermione sighed as she tried to make plans of her own to prepare for departing before the battle began. Even though she wanted to be there to fight against her enemy, her son was more important to her than anything. Hermione checked on Thomas, and then slipped in to the bathroom to join Tom in his shower.

Sirius thought life couldn't get anymore crazy, until he had overheard the news about Hermione being the Dark Lord's woman. How the hell could life be anymore unfair and turned around? In some ways he wasn't surprised that she would be with such a powerful man. The biggest dilemma was his brain trying to compute how if she was from the future, how had she gotten involved with someone so old? There was a missing link somewhere that he needed more information to make all of this make sense. The only person that he could see that would have the answers would be the leader of The Order of the Phoenix: Albus Dumbledore.

Sirius walked the halls of Hogwarts heading for Professor Dumbledore's office. He was nervous having to confront this man. He hadn't exactly showed that he had much faith in him lately. Speaking the password, he was able to gain entrance to Dumbledore's office. Entering, the headmaster sat behind his desk with papers strewn across in disarray. He seemed preoccupied and a little disturbed by having Sirius come visiting.
"Good day Sirius. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" The old man was being cordial enough, but his eyes told another story. There was some hesitancy in his so called welcoming manner.
"I came for some answers Albus." Sirius looked at his leader who he'd started lacking faith in his leadership.
"Answers to what Sirius?" Dumbledore answered with raised eyebrows.
Sirius sat trying to decide exactly how to ask this question. Then he decided to just come out and say it. "When did you first meet Hermione MacMillan?" Sirius noticed the smile disappear from the headmasters face. Also Dumbledore took a deep breath and shifted in his large chair, sitting up a little taller steepling his fingers under his chin.
For several minutes Dumbledore only stared at Sirius, never letting his eyes leave him. He could tell the old wizard was contemplating how to answer this question.
"Are you prepared for the implications of the answers to your questions?" His answer was said forcefully, almost as to make Sirius cower away.
"Yes, or I wouldn't be here asking you, would I?" Sirius decided he'd not let Dumbledore have the upper hand in this discussion.
Albus Dumbledore sent a menacing sneer his way. After another long sigh, he cleared his throat and spoke.
"She came to Hogwarts with the help of a Time Turner back in the 1940's while I was still just the Transfiguration teacher. Young Hermione claimed that she came from the future, at the end of the second wizarding war. Lord Voldemort, also known as Tom Riddle Junior had been defeated; but so had Hermione's best friend, Harry James Potter."
Sirius sat so still it appeared as if he wasn't breathing. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
Dumbledore continued, "She claimed she had come back in time to stop Voldemort from ever coming to power. Unfortunately the cunning Mr. Riddle was able to beguile her and draw her into his web of lies. Soon she was head over heels in love with the snake."
Sirius could see what delight the headmaster was having in telling the story of Hermione and how she'd fallen for the evil wizard. "Hermione became involved with Tom's organization." Dumbledore stopped to watch Sirius's reaction.
"You mean she became a Death Eater?" Sirius almost jumped out of his seat when he heard this news. How could this be? Someone of Hermione's intelligence couldn't be involved with a group that promoted such hate and violence.
"To make matters worse, she became pregnant with the snake's spawn."
Those words made his head swirl. How could that have been in the 1940's? When he had first met Hermione was the night she delivered baby Thomas. Then the wheels began to twirl in his mind and he somehow put two and two together.
"How did she get to this time Dumbledore?" He wanted to hear the words straight from this man's mouth.
The wizard sneered at Sirius, "I took her and the baby away from the young Tom Riddle Jr…using her own time turner."
"You sent her through time while she was almost nine months pregnant?" His voice rose in anger at the thought at what Dumbledore had done. "You could have killed them both." The headmaster sat and stared back at him not saying a word. "That was your plan wasn't it?"
"I didn't necessarily want the woman dead, but The Dark Lord's spawn must die!" Dumbledore spat out in a fury making Sirius's stomach lurch. Hermione had been right. This old wizard was a threat to her and Thomas. How could he want to kill a baby?
Sirius jumped up and started to turn but Dumbledore grabbed his arm. "Where are you going? We need you to fight today."
Sirius felt disoriented by what he'd said, "What? Fight them today?"
"Yes, we need every Order member available. We're attacking Malfoy Manor in a few hours. You will be there and you will fight to take down the great evil known as Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters."
Sirius went to open the door but was stopped once again as Dumbledore shoved him up against the door. "You have to take down any of them, your bat-shit crazy cousin Bellatrix or even Hermione. Do you understand?" He increased the pressure of his hold to emphasize his point.
Sirius looked up at the old wizard, who still was very strong for his age. "Yes, sir I hear and understand what you're saying." It was hard to hold back the hate in his eyes that he now felt towards his leader.
He left before he had to hear anything more from the man. There was one thing he did know what he wouldn't tell Dumbledore though, there was no way that he would let any harm come to Hermione or Thomas. He still loved both of them very much. Even with hearing the news of her past and the truth of who was Thomas's father, he could never harm either one of them. He would be there when The Order attacked, but his agenda would be different from the others. Sirius planned on doing whatever it took to get Hermione and Thomas away from the Manor and away from Lord Voldemort.

Hi faithful readers! I must admit that I'm having a hard time knowing how to wrap this story up. Right now I have three different endings of how to end Time Changes All Things. I also have had a hard time seeing this story ending after how long I've been writing it. It's like an old friend now. Sad? I know, but I don't want to rush the ending and want to give the story the ending that it deserves. I so hate when a huge fanfic ends so quickly that you feel like you've been hit up side of the head and go, "What just happened?" So please continue being patient with me as this story is heading towards the end. I'm not going to say how many chapters are left, because sometimes the characters want to talk and I have to let them. Some of you may like the ending, and others may hate how it ends. Either way, sit down, buckle up and hang on for the end of the ride. Thanks again to all of you reviewers! You all rock!
