"James, I'm sure I'm fine, and there really is no reason for me to go and tell anyone else about this," Sirius said quietly.
James sighed and tightened his grasp on his boyfriend. "Siri, please at least go talk to Madam Pomfrey. I really want to make sure you're okay physically. I know that it's going to take a long for you to heal mentally, but I'm here for you-I promise. You mean everything to me, Siri."
Sirius smiled weakly and pressed his head against James' warm chest. "Will you go with me?"
"Of course," James replied immediately.
"Thank you," Sirius whispered. "I love you, James. I don't know how I could have ever survived this long without you."
James gently kissed Sirius' forehead and murmured, "I love you, Siri. I'm just so sorry that your family has hurt you so much. They must be completely blind not to see how amazing you are."
Sirius' only reply was to sob into James' shoulder.

"Mr. Black, I certainly wish you would have told me about this sooner," Madam Pomfrey said sadly. "However, I am at least glad that Mr. Potter convinced you to come to me now."
Sirius nodded his head and stared at the nurse with wide blue eyes. James sat next to Sirius, clutching his biendiend's hand tightly.
"I see no major physical problems. There are some scars, which I have healed to the best of my ability."
"Scars?" James questioned softly.
"Knife," Sirius replied weakly.
James flinched and moved even closer to his best friend.
"That's what I was afraid of," Madam Pomfrey said quietly. "Mr. Black, you will need to tell Professor McGonagall and the Headmaster."
Sirius groaned. "Why? I don't see why they have to know!"
"They need to be informed, as you well know. I will speak with them both later today about this situation. In the meantime, Mr. Black, you're going to need to meet with a counselor to discuss-"
"No way in hell!" Sirius exclaimed.
"Mr. Black, you are not going to argue with me about this. It is necessary that you-"
"Absolutely not," Sirius interrupted again. "I'm perfectly fine!"
"Mr. Bl-"
"Madam Pomfrey, may I please talk to you in your office?" James requested quietly.
The nurse stared at James curiously. She was about ready to answer him with a resounding 'no' when she noticed the concerned expression on his face.
"All right, Mr. Potter, but make it fast. And, Mr. Black, you are not to move at all."
"Even to breathe?" Sirius asked as Madam Pomfrey and James made their way into the nurse's office.
James snickered and turned around to smile at his best friend, while the nurse simply ignored Sirius' comment.
As soon as the office door was closed, Madam Pomfrey looked at James. "Well, Mr. Potter? What is it?"
"I don't think that Sirius would benefit from talking to some sort of a counselor."
"Mr. Potter, need I remind you that I am a nurse, and in these situations, I do believe I am more qualified than you to make decisions?"
James sighed and leaned against the wall with his hands folded across his chest. "I understand that. However, I am more qualified than you to make decisions about Sirius. I know him better than anyone, and I can tell you right now that insisting that he talk with a counselor will be a fucking waste of time!"
"Language, Mr. Potter!"
James bit his lip and tried not to roll his eyes. "Siri isn't going to open up to someone he doesn't know. He's not going to answer their questions or tell them about his past. There are very few people who have earned his trust."
Madam Pomfrey was about to reprimand James for his bad language, when something occurred to her. Maybe he was right. Maybe Sirius needed to speak to someone he truly trusted. After all, the poor child had been through an awful lot.
"Who do you think should talk to him?" the nurse finally asked.
"Me," James whispered.
"I had a feeling you were going to say that. Are you sure you're actually going to speak with him about this?"
"Yes," James replied. "He means the world to me, and I want to help him get through this. I know that I'm not trained in helping people in these types of situations, but I don't think that should matter. I know perfectly well how to make Sirius feel better and how to be there for him. I know how to make him open up to me, and I know he trusts me, just as I would trust him with my life."
"All right, Mr. Potter. We will present this to Mr. Black as an option. Be aware that he may not initially like this idea, though."
"I know," James sighed. "I can't blame him for wanting to hide it all inside."
"There are many excellent counselors who are highly qualified and would be able to help Mr. Black immensely."
"As I said before, I know that. But I want to help him through this."
"We'll present him with both options," Madam Pomfrey said with a nod. She left her office with James close behind her.
"Mr. Black, you have two options. You may either meet with a trained counselor or you may talk about this with Mr. Potter. If you choose to talk with him, he will have to report back to me periodically to inform me of how you're doing. You may feel like you don't need to talk about your feelings, but trust me, you do. You need to get it all out before it can get better."
Sirius just stared at the nurse and then turned his attention to his boyfriend.
"So which is it?" Madam Pomfrey asked. "What will you do, Mr. Black?"
