Thanks to everyone who has reviewed. And thanks to whoever pointed out the pwp mistake. When I looked at the story codes the first time I thought it said 'with' not 'without'. I changed it now so I hope it doesn't confuse anyone else.:)
The next few days found Yuki resting, and when she wasn't she spent the time with Sirius, Molly and the kids. She enjoyed the time with them
but was still a bit out of place. Hermione and Ginny liked to talk to her, saying they needed a break from being around the boys all the time.
Sirius would rescue her from them every so often and try to engage her in more adult conversation. But Sirius' idea of adult conversation was
stories of the past, of his old friends and life. Yuki liked to listen to him but it just reminded her that she knew nothing of her own past.
They thought over time that it might start to come back, but it had been a few days and she knew nothing more then what she did when she woke
up that first night. One person Yuki liked was Tonks, they were the same age and it seemed more appropriate for them to talk. Tonks would bring
Yuki some of her clothes by to wear and would stay to talk. Tonks was a very introverted person, talkative and funny, and Yuki did so like
having her around. While Yuki was shy and kept quiet it was refreshing to have Tonks arounddo ado all the talking. One day Sirius, Molly and
Yuki were sitting in the kitchen having some tea, listening to Harry and Ron talk about quidditch and Ginny and Hermione talk about school when
the door opened and in walked Remus and Tonks, both with smiling faces.
"Ello everyone," Tonks said cheerfully. "Good day?"
"How are you doing today?" Remus asked as he took a seat across from Yuki.
"Fine thank you," Yuki answered.
"You get to go out today Yuki!" Tonks told her excitedly.
"I do? Where am I going?"
"To Diagon Alley, " Remus answered." Dumbledore has asked Nymph-"
"Tonks"
"Tonks and I to escort you there, to buy somethings."
The excitement Yuki felt at the thought of getting out of the house, even for a moment, was ripped away; She had no money to spend.
"I haven't any money," she confessed.
"It's been taken care of," Tonks told her. "So you have nothing to worry about."
"Can we go too?" Ron shouted out.
"Oh yes can we mum?" Ginny pleaded.
"I don't know..." Molly hesitated.
"Oh we'll watch them for you Molly, you don't have to worry," Tonks offered.
Molly looked at her children, and the other two she partly considered her own, and thought long about it.
"Please Mrs. Weasley," Harry begged.
"Alright dears you can go," She said with a smile. "But you better behave yourselves. Now run upstairs and get your coats before I change my
mind."
The kids quickly scampered out of the room to get their coats as Molly instructed, leaving everyone else to laugh at them and their
enthusiasm to go. All except Sirius who could never leave the house. For the first time Yuki forgot about her own problems and felt truly sorry
for Sirius and his own misery. But without a word to him, as nothing she could say would comfort him, Yuki followed Remus and Tonks to
another room in the house, where they used floo powder to get to Diagon Alley with the kids.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The floo affected Yuki in a strange way. When she saw Ron go first, disappearing in the bright green flames, she couldn't believe that he
was actually ok, and never thought she would repeat his process. But Remus assured her it would be ok and after explaining to her how it worked
she stepped into the fireplace, threw down the powder, and was engulfed in flames. When she opened her eyes she saw five pairs looking down at
her. harry held out his hand and helped up and she dusted the soot off. Remus appeared there a moment later and ushered them out of the way of
the Diagon Alley floo network.
Diagon Alley was a very busy place. All sorts of different looking people were moving around through the shops. It was loud out but people
seemed friendly enough as they tipped their hats or said kind 'hellos' when the group pasted. Yuki was in awe of absolutely everything: frhe
he
animal emporium with the white owls in the front to the huge bookstore with more books then Yuki had ever seen. She wanted to go in there
first and Hermione was happy to show her around, telling her which books she liked and which ones she didn't--which wasn't many as Hermione
loved to read almost anything--and which ones she wanted to read. Hermione told Yuki that she had with her some books at number twelve that she
would lend her as the boys drug them out of the store. Tonks took Yuki and the girls to a clothing store. The boys had no need to be in there
so Remustook them elsewhere. Hermione and Ginny went a little crazy picking out clothes for Yuki. She let them play 'dress-up' with her for a while
and found a few things she liked. Her style was quite plain compared to Tonks' eccentric fashion and to Hermione and Ginny's teenage girl dress.
But she did comply and buy a few of the things they had picked out. When they were done in there they decided to find the men and grab some
lunch, but all Harry and Ron wanted to do was go to the quidditch supply shop.
"But its at the end of the alley," Ginny whined, "And we're hungry."
"Yeah but its right buy that little cafe' you like," Ron persuaded her. "And I wont tell mom if you get one of those drinks you like
so much."
"Oh alright!" Ginny squealed.
So Ron led the way down the long alley. Yuki looked threw the store windows wishing to enter them all. Once near the end Harry and Ron
rushed into the quidditch store followed by not too eager Hermione and Ginny. Yuki stayed outside, staring at the broom in the window, thinking
of how people really did fly on them, and the feeling of freedom they must have felt.
"Yuki?" Remus called as he appeared beside her. "Everything alright?"
"You really fly on brooms?"
Remus smiled and lightly chuckled. "Yes we do. I know it seems strange. All those stories about witches and we really do ride them."
"It's not so strange," she told him, "I would like to fly one day."
Remus looked at Yuki's profile, her perfected pointed nose slightly tilted up, her barely there cheekbones and neatly pouty lips. He felt
painfully bad for her then. Such a lovely girl with such a twisted life.
"We'll be just inside here," he said and left her to admire the broom in the window.
Yuki had her hands pressed against the glass window while she looked in. She was about to go inside with the rest when a harsh and yet elegant voice rang in her ears.
"Keep up Draco!" it shouted.
Turning around just in time Yuki was able to see the back of a very tall man and what looked to be almost a miniature of him. Both with silky blond hair and very refined robes on. They walked down a path that was dark and the sign by the street said 'Knockturn Alley'. Yuki didn't know why but she followed them down. Their was just something about them, and the place, that intrigued her. Yuki kept a distance as they walked pretty fast anyway and watched as they walked into an old looking store. She didn't want to go in there but also now knew that she couldn't find her way back. The faces under hoods and behind wrinkles and moles looked at her, stared. It was a chilling feeling being subject to these strange looks and Yuki almost ran to find the man with blond hair for help when a tiny old women came upon her.
"Oh hello dear," she said in her crackly voice. "Do you need any help."
"Yes I do, I don't know the way back and my friends will worry."
"Well let me show you the way dear."
The old women grabbed Yuki's arm and started to walk her down the alley. Yuki might not of known the back back but she diffidently knew that this was not the way. Before she could panic a dark figure came out of the shop up ahead and Yuki recognized him immediately.
"Severus!" she shouted to get his attention.
He turned around at the sound of his name and began walking over to her.
"Yuki?" Severus asked puzzled by her presence. "What are you doing down here?"
"I...got lost..."
"I was just showing her how to get back," the crackling women said.
"Release her," Severus commanded.
The old women did as she was told and gave a false smile to Yuki before backing up into the shadows.
"Are you alright?" Severus asked and realized he had never asked someone that before. Yuki nodded to him and kept her eyes on the ground. "what are you doing here?" he asked in his deep and threating tone, trying to cover for his question of care.
"Tonks and Remus brought me to get a few things and I got lost here."
"You should not be down here. I will take you back."
Severus walked past Yuki and kept his pace slow enough for her to follow. She stayed close behind him and looked at nothing but the ground. They came back into the light of Diagon Alley where Yuki was thankful to be. In a flash Remus came up to them, worry in his eyes.
"Yuki, where did you go? we were looking around for you," he told her.
"I went to KNockturn Alley," she said.
"Perhaps you should keep a closer eye on your responsibilities Lupin," Severus spoke.
"Well thank you Severus for bringing her back but you can go now."
Severus glared at Remus but said nothing back. He turned on his heal and without another glance at Yuki left them standing there.
"Are you alright?" Remus asked her.
"Yes, Severus was there."
"Nothing happened?"
"No."
"We should have told you not to go down there. Dodge-y place Knockturn Alley is," Remus told her.
Again Yuki's head was down, feeling a bit ashamed with herself. She really didn't know what made her go down the alley but was thankful that Severus was there to find her.
"Well how about we go get the others, they were very worried about you."
"I'm sorry to cause everyone so much trouble."
"You are no trouble Yuki, " Remus said, raising his voice to get the point across. "We just worry. You have nothing to be sorry for."
He smiled at her when she finally looked up, she smiled back. Remus led her back threw Diagon alley where they found everyone else and she had a time telling them what had happened over lunch.
"Of course Severus would be down there," Ron said, "Probably meeting death-"
"Ron," Remus warned.
"Meeting who?" Yuki asked.
"deatheaters," Ron blurted before Remus could stop him.
"Deatheaters? What are those?"
"They work for Voldemort," Harry told her, "Severus was one."
"Is," Ron added.
"Was," Remus corrected him, "He is not anymore."
"Yeah right," huffed Ron.
"What do deatheaters do?" Yuki asked.
"Horrible things," Ron began to tell her, "They work for the most evil man in the world. And Severus workd for him too."
"tha"thats enough Ron," Remus said. "He has changed his allegence."
"Can never be too sure," Ron said under his breath.
Yuki sat back for a moment, fiddling with the fork between her fingers, and thinking.
"I don't think he's a deatheater," she thought out loud.
"Why is that?" Ron spat.
"From what you told me of him he should hate me, being a muggle and women and an outsider you know nothing about. But he's been nice to me."
Ron stared at Yuki with a dstedsted look while everyone else just sat in disbelief, taking in her words. Snape should hate her, she was everything he disliked, but he had helped her today without the order of Dumbledore. No one questioned her and they carried on with lunch bring up various conversation. Yuki stayed out of the talk and thought about her day: Shopping and Knockturn Alley. She wondered 'What did cause her to wander down into the dark?'. She wasn't sure.
