Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Even though Harry had never done anything with another guy before, that doesn't mean he hasn't experimented with himself or read about it in a book. He had done a lot of reading over the summer, now didn't he? Also, he could have just been doing what he thought would feel good or what he thought Draco would like. Seeing as this is the world of magic, let's just say it was a twist of fate, shall we?
Now, on to another. Someone mentioned that an infusion wasn't what I made it out to be. Ok, I was mistaken. The asphodel is added to an infusion of wormwood. So sorry, I made a mistake. Happy now? It was my horrid memory that remembered it wrong. And even though I don't feel the need to justify my use of the word fuck to a fifteen year old, the phrase, "Serious fucking disappointment," is from one of my favorite movies, 'Mallrats', and is said by Shannen Doherty's character in a speech to 'Brody'. I'm 24 fucking years old and if I decide to use the word fuck in every sentance, in any way, I think I'm allowed. So yeah, thanks.
Reviews are important because they help the author know how they're doing. As I said before, constructive critism is more than welcome, though flames aren't. I appreciate all those who have stuck with the story thus far and I promise to try and get another chapter out as soon as possible. I know it was a little bit of a wait for this one but it's been hectic with registering for classes and what not. I'll be starting classes in about two weeks, a litte less actually, and I'll try to get this story finished by then or at least mostly finished. I do apologize ahead of time if it isn't. Now, enjoy!

Chapter 6 - It's Murphy's Law that just when you think everything's perfect, something has to happen to fuck it up.
While Draco was being tortured, raped and murdered by his own father, Harry was at Grimmauld Place with his 'friends' who still weren't talking to him. Remus was trying as hard as he possibly could to get them to speak, but nothing was working. Harry had no idea whatsoever that Draco was in danger, but had he known, he probably would have gotten himself killed as well. He had a tendency to rush into situations unprepared.
Dumbledore had asked Snape to teach Harry Occlumency once more and since Harry had no objections, he wanted to learn so he could kill the madman who made his life hell; the lessons began the first night he was at Headquarters. Severus made sure to empty his mind of all his feelings for the younger man, knowing now was definitely not the time for him to find out how his Potions professor truly felt about him.
The lessons continued on for the last weeks of summer, with still no word from his love. He was beginning to get extremely worried, but no one was telling him what was going on. Harry knew the Headmaster was aware of Draco's condition. What he didn't know was that the day Harry arrived at Grimmauld Place; Hagrid had discovered Draco's body at the gates of Hogwarts, beaten, broken, bloody, mutilated and dead, with a note, in an unknown hand, saying it was for Harry. Quite a message.
Albus still hadn't given the letter he had received from Draco to Harry because he was afraid that the young man would fly off the handle. He would have been right, but it would have been a good thing for him to do because had he told Harry the truth, perhaps he wouldn't have been blamed.
Severus spent his evenings, all of them, with the object of his affections and never once let on how he felt. But, then again, he was a spy and very adept at hiding his emotions. Harry was vastly improving and Severus was convinced that spending time with Draco had done the young man some good, even though he despised the blonde for being that close to Harry. Even Severus had no idea what had happened to young Malfoy because despite how he felt about Draco he would have told Harry first thing; he knew better than anyone what it was like to worry over a loved one. He also knew what it felt like to lose one. Snape would never wish that on his worst enemy.
So the days passed, Harry got stronger, no one heard from Draco, and Albus began to act even stranger than normal. Hermione and Ron ignored Harry, Severus became his new best friend, they got closer since they spent so much time together and both put aside their old rivalry for the sake of other things, and still the poor raven haired young man was clueless.
The day they went back to King's Cross to board the train, Harry went straight for the Slytherin car, ignoring all the looks he was getting from everyone else and getting comfortable. He sat there for a few moments before everyone else came in, gave him a nod, and took their seats.
Now, all of them having Death Eater parents, and being Slytherins, they knew of Draco's fate. They were convinced Harry would know as well, but the minute they saw his face they knew he had no idea. What's the one quality all Slytherins have? They look out for each other. Once you're in Slytherin, you have another family. The Slytherin students set out to help Harry, inform him, and protect him from what they were sure the Headmaster was keeping from him.
"Harry, are you ok?" Pansy asked quietly; she didn't want to upset him.
Harry looked up at her with sad eyes and sighed, "Pans, I haven't heard from Drake in over a month. I'm getting worried. He's not on the train; he's usually here by now!"
Crabbe and Goyle shot each other a look; they weren't as stupid as they let on, "Um, Har, he's not coming," Goyle said softly.
The raven haired young man looked at them, panic rising in his chest, "What do you mean he's not coming? Is he ok? Did something happen to him!?"
Blaise looked down at his hands and sighed, the lump in his throat making it difficult to speak, "Harry, Draco…well, you see, Lucius…" He paused, trying to get the courage to tell him, "Oh, fuck this. Harry, Draco's dead, Lucius killed him."
The shock hit him like a ton of bricks, making it hard to breathe. He had given everything of himself to the blonde, his heart; his life, everything, and now someone had taken it away from him. His lover's father had seen fit to ruin his life once more and this time he wasn't going to get away with it.
"Lucius did it? I'm sure he was on orders from Voldemort to make my life shit, hmm?"
Harry was getting more and more angry as every moment passed. The other Slytherins comforted him and tried to calm him down, placate him, until the train pulled into Hogsmeade. They all decided to see what the Headmaster had to say about Draco's absence, then they would form a plan. He was doing ok with the news, that is until a certain red head had to say something.
"Where's your little boyfriend, Potter? Or did he decide to get rid of you and finally go arse up for his father?" Ron sneered, having no idea what had happened.
"I'd watch my mouth if I were you, Weasel. You don't want to mess with Harry, and now that he's officially Slytherin, you'd be messing with us as well," Pansy said nastily. She had decided last year that she actually liked Harry and now since he was one of their own, no one was going to hurt him.
Hermione huffed and dragged a scowling Ron off to the carriages while Pansy tried to calm Harry down. All of them, Crabbe, Goyle, Blaise, Nott and Millicent surrounded Harry as Pansy took his arm and led him to a carriage for them. All of them sat surrounding him at the Slytherin table once they entered the Great Hall.
The Headmaster stood to give his traditional start of term speech and everyone quieted down.
"Welcome, welcome to another year at Hogwarts. There are a few things I would like to mention before we begin the feast. First of all, there is a list of all things which are not allowed on the door to Mr. Filch's office. There will be no magic in the corridors between classes, and the Dark Forest is forbidden to everyone. On another note, one of our students will not be returning for their 7th and final year. Draco Malfoy has been pulled out of school by his parents and will continue his education elsewhere. And now that those things are out of the way, tuck in!"
Harry and all the other Slytherins sat at their table, staring at the Headmaster in disbelief. They knew for a fact that Draco was dead; a few of their parents had either been there or heard word straight from Lucius himself about the events. All of them couldn't believe he would stand there and lie to them like that and out of all of them Harry was the angriest.
He had depended on Dumbledore to guide him and tell him the facts since the day he met him when he was 11. The Headmaster had never lied to him, per se, but he had held things back. Technically, although he was holding things back, Draco had been pulled out of Hogwarts for his last year by hi parents, but it was a lie because Draco wouldn't be continuing his education elsewhere. Draco was dead. This thought brought tears to Harry's eyes as he sat at the Slytherin table and attempted to eat.
Later that night while lying in bed, the others had shown him where the dorms were in the dungeons and gave him the password, he cried thinking of all the things he and Draco had planned and the love they had shared. To have that taken away from him so harshly was almost too much to bear.
Blaise, Nott, Crabbe and Goyle had made sure he was settled, giving him Draco's bed because they knew it would soothe him, and tried their hardest to make sure he was ok. Crabbe was actually the one who had made him feel the most secure.
"Listen, if you need anything, or if anyone bothers you, come get me or Goyle. We'll make sure they regret it and pay for it. I promise you that we, all of us, even Pansy and Millicent, will do everything in our power to help you get revenge."
Goyle nodded, "We did love him as a friend. And Crabbe and I have known him since we were babies. The only people, besides you, that feel it are the rest of us Slytherins. No one knew the real Draco."
He could only nod at what they had said but it had given him things to think about. Something was most definitely going on. Severus hadn't said anything to him over the summer and he was sure the man would know about this. Then again there could be a reason as to why he wasn't aware. Dumbledore was lying and he wanted to know why. It was obvious that announcing that to the whole school may not have been a good idea, but the Headmaster hadn't even pulled him aside to tell him the truth. There was still a letter that only the old man knew about and it would explain a lot more were Harry to get his hands on it.
Harry made a decision to go and speak to Severus the next day when he had a free period to see what the older man knew. Until then he would just have to suffer alone, for even though the other Slytherins missed their leader, no one missed Draco more than Harry and he was deathly afraid he wouldn't be able to survive this.
Author's Note: Yes, I know it implies that Draco was killed on Harry's birthday, but I figured it could have lasted a few days, it just began on his birthday?...Perhaps not...
