Not As It Seems
Chapter 7
When Harry and Draco came up from the basement with the rest of the children, Harry was pleased to see who all the fuss had been about. He was even more pleased to see the three brothers immediately surround Ginny to reassure her.
“I don’t know what to do, Ginny,” Percy said. “There’s no way that you can go back home. I know you want to finish your education.”
“I have that all figured out, Mr. Weasley,” Aquila said. “We will be sending Miss Weasley to Beaubaton. With a bit of a nonmagical help, no one will know who she is. She can finish her education and Dumbledore will never be wiser.”
“You’ve got this all figured out, don’t you?” Percy asked. He looked a bit miffed at her.
“That’s my job, Mr. Weasley,” Aquila said. “Now, did you want to bring your wife here for safety?”
“If Dumbledore keeps it up,” Percy said. “It’s going to be necessary. Penny’s pregnant, and I don’t want him getting any ideas.”
“He won’t,” Aquila said. “He’s going to think that he has his perfect pawn again. When Harry goes back to school, he’s going to assure Dumbledore that everything is fine, and then he’s going to turn against him on the battlefield.”
“Wicked,” both twins said together.
“If I may, My Lord,” Snape said. “I would like to acquaint the two younger Weasleys here with my work, and see if they have any suggestions.”
“Go ahead, Severus,” Voldemort said. “I will have your lunch sent down to you, and food for them, as well.”
“I have to get back,” Percy said. “Penny’s going to be frantic, and I have to tell Bill and Charlie. I’ll bring them with me tonight.”
“Very well,” Aquila said. “I will have quarters prepared, and make sure that the guards are told you are coming. They tend to Stupefy first and ask questions later.”
She turned and left the room, presumably to make the necessary arrangements, while Snape beckoned to Fred and George and led them to his workroom.
~*~*~*~*~
Harry didn’t see any of the Weasleys or Snapes until it was time for dinner. Then, three of the five elder brothers were there, along with Penelope Clearwater-Weasley sitting next to Percy, Fleur Delacour sitting next to Bill, and a young wizard that Harry didn’t know seated at Charlie’s side. Ginny sat happily between Castor and Pollux, actually smiling and talking with her brothers.
Fred and George came in with Snape, all three of them wearing potions-stained aprons over their robes, but Snape actually looked pleased. He handed Voldemort a parchment, and after reading it, the Dark Lord looked equally pleased.
Aquila did not make an appearance until dinner was well along, and when she did, she was carrying three boxes. She walked over to her brothers and Ginny and put one box in front of each of them. Behind her, a house elf put bowls of chopped meat next to the three of them.
“I found what I was looking for,” Aquila said. “You need to be careful with these. They came all the way from China.”
Eagerly, the two boys opened their boxes and reached inside. They withdrew very similar eggs, dark orange with red and yellow streaks. Ginny watched them and then opened her own box. She pulled out an egg nearly identical to theirs.
“What are these, Aquila?” Voldemort asked. Harry could tell from his body language that he was merely curious, not worried.
“Something Dumbledore won’t be able to deter, and that his bird won’t be able to harm,” Aquila said. “A former classmate of mine married a Chinese wizard. He raises fire lizards.”
“Fire lizards?” Harry asked.
“Yes,” Aquila said. “They’re a great deal like European dragons in form, but they don’t get more than four or five feet long. They’re much friendlier than most European dragons, and they bond with the first creature they see when they come out of the shell. If it’s a human, they are just as faithful as phoenixes, and they are dangerous at hatching. If Dumbledore makes trouble, these little beauties will make trouble back.”
“Why one for Ginerva?” one of the twins asked her.
“They fly faster than owls, and they are stronger,” Aquila said. “They can be used for messengers. This will give you and Ginerva the ability to correspond without interference.”
“We’ll make the arrangements to transfer to Hogwarts today,” the other twin said. “You will keep in touch, won’t you?”
“I have so far,” Aquila said. “Make sure your mother knows what the plan is.”
“Mother will know,” the first twin said. “We’ll have more fun with the students at Hogwarts than we ever did at Durmstrang.”
Aquila rolled her eyes, and then looked at Draco, smiling.
“I take it back,” she said. “Maybe they are like the Weasley twins.”
~*~*~*~*~
That evening, Harry was climbing into bed when there was a knock on the door. He padded over and opened the door to see Draco standing there in his pajamas and robe, with some clean clothes draped over one arm.
“I was wondering … ” the Slytherin said hesitantly. “I thought that … maybe you might … want some company tonight.”
Harry stood still, stunned. Draco took his silence for a refusal and turned to leave.
“No, don’t go!” Harry cried. “I would like company. I was just … surprised that you offered.”
“We’re friends now,” Draco said. “Maybe more than friends. This is one of the things friends do for one another. Besides, Orion kind of stopped us this afternoon before we could see how far we wanted to go. I thought we might continue, without interruptions.”
Harry blushed deeply. He could feel the heat emanating from his face.
“Are you going to stand there all night, Harry?” Draco asked softly.
Harry blushed even more, but he let Draco in.
Once they had discarded their robes and climbed into the bed, Harry hesitated, nervous.
“Have you ever done anything like this?” Draco asked.
Harry shook his head.
“We don’t have to do anything until you want to,” Draco said. “To be honest, I haven’t either. I haven’t got past kissing, with either sex. I’m just a bit surprised that everyone isn’t jumping at the chance to shag The Boy-Who-Lived.”
“Don’t be surprised,” Harry said bitterly. “They love me when they want to, and hate me equally easily. Being The Boy-Who-Lived isn’t a bed of roses.”
“Then they’re blind, and fools as well,” Draco said. “Weasley’s the biggest fool. He can’t see that you’re one of the best things that could ever happen to him.”
“Ron’s loyal enough,” Harry said. “He just gets jealous easily, because he’s never had much. I just can’t believe that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley let Dumbledore put a geas on him.”
“Let, my foot,” Draco said. “I wouldn’t’ be surprised. They practically worship that man.”
“But to let him do something to their own child?” Harry asked, tears spilling out of his eyes. “I can’t believe any parent would allow that!”
“Family isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, Harry,” Draco said comfortingly. “You’re lucky, now. You’ve got Aquila to mother you, and even though you’ll have a hard time believing it, Bellatrix makes a pretty good mother. And when Madam Von der Lippe comes from Germany, you’ll think it’s Christmas, all over again.”
“Why is that?” Harry asked.
“She always brings presents,” Draco said. “She brings chocolate, and marzipan, and smoked sausages, and then there’s the books, and magic items they don’t sell in England. Mostly it’s the food, though. I got a real taste for smoked sausage and sauerkraut.”
“This is going to take some getting used to,” Harry said. “And then, when school starts, we have to go back to hating each other.”
“Not entirely,” Draco said. “I’ve thought of something. We could play a dominance game.”
“Dominance game?” Harry asked, puzzled.
“Yes,” Draco said, leaning so close that his nose brushed Harry’s.
“Let’s say, the night of the Welcoming Feast,” Draco explained. “I wait right outside the Great Hall. I grab you, push you against the wall, and snog you breathless, grinding against you the whole time. You struggle, of course, so we can see if anyone comes to your rescue. You act like you’re disgusted. While I’m snogging you, I take your House ring.”
“I don’t have a House ring,” Harry said.
“You will by the time school starts,” Draco said. “Aquila’s got very definite ideas about what you need. She arranged for your new robes and clothes, of course, and she’ll probably have Lupin take you to Diagon Alley to get your school supplies. She believes, though, that we need more books than we’ll ever read, a fully stocked Potions lab, and complete supplies in our school trunks, so we can do our own experimenting, and the Quidditch pitch out back so we can keep in practice. This year, she’ll make sure you have your House ring, and you’ll be put on the train with a lunch basket that will rival anything you’ve ever eaten. We all get our favorites, and plenty of sweets, as well. She doesn’t trust the old witch that runs the trolley on the train not to drug us with calming potions.”
“Get back to this dominance game,” Harry said. “It sounds like fun.”
“Right,” Draco said. “You catch me the first chance you get, and you take my ring. Then I catch you and take my ring back, and then you take your ring back, and then we keep that up all year long.”
“Ron’s going to kill you,” Harry said.
“What do you think Crabbe and Goyle are for?” Draco asked. “They won’t let Weasley near me. We may have to pretend that we hate each other, Harry, but that doesn’t mean we can’t snog each other senseless when we get the chance.”
“We’re going to lose house points,” Harry said, smiling. “The others are going to be furious with us.”
“Slytherin won’t win the house cup while you’re in school, Harry,” Draco said. “Dumbledore will make sure that Gryffindor wins it every year. The Slytherins are used to being discriminated against.”
“Maybe we can fix that,” Harry said. “Maybe I can make it look like I’ve gone wild since Sirius’ death. Maybe I can lose enough points that Dumbledore can’t possibly give the house cup to Gryffindor.”
“We’ll talk about it in the morning,” Draco said. “If we’re going to play this game of ours, we need some practice.” He leaned forward and sealed his lips to Harry’s, rolling forward so that he was half atop the Gryffindor.
Harry tried to throw Draco off of him, but his heart wasn’t in it. He liked the feel of the other wizard’s weight, and he liked the warmth that pooled in his groin and grew warmer while Draco kissed him. He moaned into Draco’s mouth, and was rewarded by the invasion of an agile tongue, which he met with his own.
Now that they had started, there was no stopping them. Harry shifted until Draco was fully on him, nestled between his spread legs, their groins pressed against one another. Harry arched his pelvis up so that his silk-clad erection rubbed against Draco’s. Draco responded by thrusting against him, rubbing against him even more firmly. Between their dueling tongues and thrusting hips, both of them became drawn into the whirling sensations until it seemed that they would both burst.
Abruptly, it was if they had. They pulled away from one another with blushes staining their cheeks while something just as warm and more tangible began to stain the silk of their pajamas.
Draco was the first to recover. He pulled his wand out from under his pillow and muttered a cleansing charm that eliminated all physical signs of the pleasure they had just experienced. He slid off of Harry and pulled the slightly smaller wizard into an embrace.
“G’night, Harry,” he murmured, and then whispered something else that Harry could not understand. Harry relaxed into Draco’s warmth and closed his eyes, allowing Oblivion to overtake him.
