Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer: It’s not mine! *sob* Harry, all of his
friends, and the entirety of Potterverse all belong to J.K. Rowling and I swear
that I’m not making any money off of it. BUT…Marvin is mine, mine, mine and if
you touch him I will hex you into oblivion
A/N: OH MY GOD!!! I feel so betrayed right at this
moment. *sniffle* Well, I suppose now is as good a time as any to warn
everyone that there will definitely be Book 6 spoilers in this fic. (As
if any of you really thought that Marvin would keep from asking questions!)
*sniffle* Despite my currently aching heart, I was really determined to get
this chapter out today. I wanted to have it posted yesterday, since the events
of this chapter actually are supposed to have occurred yesterday…but…well…it
just hurt too much. *sniffle* 8) After that though…well I might need some
time to pull myself together. I have about four fics going, and I’m going to
need to alter quite a few things to keep them in line with this new
information. *sob, sniffle…blows nose* BUT FOR NOW…no Book 6 spoilers in this
chapter so don’t worry. I’ll post warnings in bold when ever those spoilers
come up. *sniffle* DRAMA ASIDE…Thank you so mush to everyone who has reviewed
on all three sites where this fic is posted. You are all awesome!! I hope you
all have fun reading HBP. REMEMBER, this chapter is safe but chapter 9 will
contain a really BIG spoiler, so you might want to hold off on it until you’ve
finished HBP. Read, Review, and Enjoy! (And in the words of my Snarky, but still
good-hearted Snape, Damn you J.K. Rowling!!)

Chapter 7: Diagon Disaster
Marvin glanced sideways at
Harry…er…Harriette as they made their way out of Flourish and Blotts. Their
purchase of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was relatively
smooth. It had taken considerable will power not to ogle the many books with
magic covers, but he had maintained control. Harry had warned him that there
could be a fair bit of trouble if anyone recognized him as a muggle, mostly
because Harry…er, Harriette was not a known witch and had no identification. Apparently,
the Ministry of Magic did not allow just any muggle to set foot on magical
property.
“Well, Marvin, I’d say that went
rather well,” Harry said with a smile. Marvin grimaced as the girlish tones
left his friend’s throat. Harry didn’t have an unpleasant voice as a woman,
but it just served as a reminder as to how thorough the transformation was.
Marvin looked down at his new book
and smiled. He couldn’t wait to begin reading. Harry had promised to let him
laze about in his common room until he was finished. “I can’t wait to see what
happens next! Even better, I get to find out if it’s true and hear all the
little side stories, and…”
His words halted as he caught a
glimpse of brilliantly red hair a short way up Diagon Alley. Harry looked at
him with concern. “What is it Marvin?”
“I think I see Ron up at that
café.”
Marvin pointed up ahead and saw
that Harry soon saw the patch of red as well. “It might be. Even if its not,
the only people I know with hair like that are Weasleys.”
Marvin began to walk towards the
café, but Harry grabbed his arm and tried to stop him. “Come on Harriette,
we should go say hi.”
“Marvin, I don’t know if
Dumbledore let anyone outside of the school know what happened to me…”
“Stop being such a girl…”
“Oh, ha-ha, very funny, Marvin.
We’ve made it this far without any problems, why do you want to blow our cover
now?” Harry was glaring at him with a look that only a female face could
conjure. Marvin found it very unsettling.
“We have the book; nothing could
possibly happen that would spoil my day at this point.” Marvin grabbed Harry’s
arm and dragged him towards the café where the as of yet unidentified Weasley
sat.
As they got closer, Marvin noticed
that there was a second man sitting at the Weasley’s table. He had white blond
hair, which fell a few inches passed his shoulders and was tied back with a bit
of black ribbon. Something about this seemed familiar to Marvin, but he shook
off the feeling and continued onward. He wanted to meet more of Ron’s family.
The red haired man glanced up with interest as they approached and a silly
smile danced across Marvin’s face. He may not entirely like what Snape had
done to Harry, but this encounter could prove quite interesting because of the
snarky git’s improvements.

Harry tried to pull his arm free
from Marvin’s grip, but his currently female body was simply not strong
enough. A resigned sigh slipped passed his lips and he tried to focus on what
he would say to convince…ah, yes, it looked like Arthur that he was Harry
Potter, not HARRIETTE. When they were about five feet from Mr. Weasley’s
table, Harry finally noticed that the man had a companion. The hair was the only
feature he needed to see to know who was having lunch with Arthur today.
OH SHIT!! Oh shit, oh shit, oh
shit!! This is not good. Marvin is going to flip!
Harry tried to put on the breaks
and steer Marvin away but it was hopeless. There was only one thing left to do
and that was reverse his tactics. He darted in front of Marvin and quickly
approached Mr. Weasley with a smile.
“Hello, Mr. Weasley.”
The red haired wizard looked up at
him with a confused expression. “Do I know you, dear?”
“Yes, you know me very well
actually,” Harry said quietly. “My name is Harriette. Perhaps
Professor Dumbledore mentioned something to you about how I…”
“Ended up being a girl,” Marvin
cut in with a chuckle. “I thought you said they wouldn’t know.”
Harry put a hand on Marvin’s arm
to silence him. Mr. Weasley continued to look very confused, but his companion
began to chuckle. Rolling his eyes, Harry turned to face him properly. “I
suppose Snape told you what he did?”
“Why, yes. Severus was quite
proud of your little transformation. I dare say you make a lovely girl,
Harry.”
“Harry?” Mr. Weasley was looking
Harry over once more with a critical eye. “Lucius, are you saying this is
Harry Potter?”
Harry bit the inside of his cheek
to keep from cursing as he felt Marvin stiffen. If there were any gods in the
heavens, Harry would be able to get Marvin away unscathed.
“Malfoy?” Harry glanced up and
looked at Marvin whose face was set in a bizarre mixture of perplexed and
disgusted. “Mr. Weasley, why on earth are you having lunch with Ferret Sr.?”
Harry grimaced and snuck a glance
at Lucius, but the man simply looked a bit confused. “Marvin, remember when I
told you that we needed to talk about you judging people according to the
book?”
Marvin looked positively enraged
at this point. Harry could have laughed if the situation hadn’t been so
serious. Lucius was a good man, but Harry doubted he was shrug off too many
insults. Not to mention what would happen if Lucius and Arthur found out that
Marvin was a muggle…
“What does that have to do with
anything?!” Marvin whirled on Harry point at Arthur then. “Your best friend’s
father is having lunch with Voldemort’s right hand Death Eater!”
“Oh dear,” Lucius said with an
arched brow.
Harry blanched and took a quick
look around. Sure enough, the surrounding patrons of the café were beginning
to listen in as were several passersby. “Marvin, would you just calm DOWN!”
“CALM DOWN? He should be in
Azkaban!” Marvin was now gesticulating wildly. “How many of them got away?
Is he one of the reasons you’re stilling having so much trouble?”
“Marvin, NO…”
“What happened, Malfoy? Did you
bribe your way out of this just like everything else?”
Lucius jumped to his feet with
wand drawn. “Now see here, sir, you cannot just go about…”
Marvin sneered at the blond
wizard. “And you’re just the best person in the world to lecture me on proper
behavior.”
Harry watched the two arguing for
a moment, wracking his brain for some way to calm things down. The crowd
gathering around them not contained several people he knew for a fact were
reporters. Luckily, there was no sign of a camera…yet.
“Young man, I suggest you listen
to me for a moment so I can…”
“I refuse to listen to a
disgusting…”
“Marvin, stop it!”
“Snake loving…”
“I like snakes too, Marvin. Cut
it out!!”
“Albino…”
Harry was beginning to feel
defeated. “Marvin, please…”
“Skunk!!!”
Lucius was rigid and Harry knew he
was going to have to get in between them. He doubted that Lucius would injure
him too badly, but good or no, Lucius Malfoy took his good name quite
seriously, especially after the events of the war. He would not put up with
such nonsense.
“Stupe…”
Harry leapt in front of Lucius’
wand. “Lucius no!!! He’s a muggle!”
At that exact moment, a flashbulb
went off and Harry groaned. The crowd of witches and wizards around them was
murmuring angrily, some against Lucius and some against Marvin.
“Harry,” Mr. Weasley said softly.
“We need to get Marvin out of here before something worse happens.”
Harry nodded and grabbed his
friend before disapparating. They reappeared at the gates to Hogwarts and
began the long march up to the castle. This had turned out to be a complete
disaster all because of a book. He wondered what Hermione would think of a
supposedly harmless book once again being the cause of such mayhem. Perhaps he
would have to coax her into returning to the castle for the remainder of the
holidays so that he’d have a little extra help with Marvin. The muggle was
turning out to be a bit of a handful.
Harry smirked, at Marvin was
bringing some fun back into his life. He doubted things would ever be boring
with that man about. As for the Ministry finding out about his muggle
friend…well, he still had Plan B.
“Harry, I’m sorry, but seeing
Malfoy just made me angry.” Marvin did look repentant…and confused. “Why were
you trying to stop me? What if he had Mr. Weasley under the Imperius Curse?”
Harry shook his head sadly at
that. If only the poor man knew… He head the sound of two wizards apparating
in by gate and decided to do some damage control. “Listen, Marvin. Lucius
isn’t who or what you think he is. It’s a long story though and you have a
book to read. Why don’t you go to my rooms…the portraits will help you find
it. The password is Prongs. Start reading and I’ll leave you be. Come find
me when you’re done…I have a feeling you’ll be finished with the book before
I’m finished fixing all this.”
Marvin looked miserable then.
“I’m so sorry, Harry. All I could think about were the horrible things the
book said he had done and how awful he and the ferret…er, Draco were to you all
the time.”
Harry chuckled. “You can call
Draco anything you want…um…well, don’t in front of Lucius, but any other time
is fine. HOWEVER,…don’t insinuate that he’s a Death Eater. You need the whole
story and I don’t have time.”
Marvin nodded and turned to walk
to the castle with his head hung low. Harry sighed; it was good to know that
his friend would listen to the true stories. If he were to be honest with
himself, he would admit that it was a bad idea to take him out into public
where he had the possibility of encountering many witches and wizards that J.K.
Rowling had vilified, both rightly and wrongly.
Looking up, Harry saw that Lucius
and Arthur had almost reached him. Arthur still looked confused and Lucius
looked rather perturbed. This was going to be a long day.
Damn you Rowling! Well…let’s
just pray that she didn’t put anything in that new book that could possibly
make matters worse.
