“When we were together
I was blown away…
Just like paper from a fan.
But you would act like I was just a kid,
like we were never gonna last…
Now I've got someone who cares for me,
he wrote my name in silver sands.
I think you know you've lost the love of your life…
(And you said) I was the best you've ever had,
because I'm in demand…”
Remus awoke
and felt his body literally throbbing with his heartbeat. His mind was a blank,
the last thing he could remember was the transformation starting, and the pain
as his shoulder popped out of its socket. He groaned as a particularly deep
pain shot through his stomach. And then he heard whispering and the soft scrape
of a wand over his skin.
“You’re
doing very well,” a voice spoke. “To be honest, Sirius, I’m not entirely sure
this isn’t the first time you’ve healed him after the Full Moon.”
“I don’t
know what you’re implying,” Sirius replied airily, and Remus felt another
scrape over his skin.
“We need to
get that arm back in the socket before he wakes up. Stand up and let me do it.
You can’t do that for him just yet.”
Remus heard
shifting footsteps and a muttered charm, before a sharp crack of pain racked
through his torso and he heard himself scream, and then there were beautiful
hands on his skin which were cool and loving, and then there was a voice which
sounded like music to his ears.
“Remus,
it’s okay. That’s the last of it. You’re safe now.”
He managed
to open his eyes and found the room surprisingly clear. Clearer than it usually
was when he opened his eyes for the first time after phasing in and out of
werewolf form. “Sirius, what’s going on…?”
“Nothing’s
going on, Remus. Just the full moon’s over, and you ripped yourself to shreds,
but we’ve fixed you now.”
“W-we?”
“Yeah, me
and Madam Pomfrey…”
“B-but…”
“Remus,”
there was a hand on his face now, stroking his cheek. “Trust me.”
And that
shut Remus up completely, because no matter what had happened between them, he
trusted Sirius beyond what was probably sane. He looked about him and saw
Sirius kneeling by his head as he lay on the bed, and the school nurse hovering
nearby. He could also see the new damage to the room in which he lay. “Oh my
God, what did I do?” He struggled to sit up but felt Sirius’ cool hands held
him in place on the bed.
“It was a
rough night,” Madam Pomfrey told him. “But then I
expected that. You did no worse than I thought you would, and because of
Sirius, we were here so that the exact second you changed back, we started
healing you.”
Remus
looked at Sirius, who smiled at him softly, his hands still on his body. “I’ll
explain everything to you later,” Sirius promised. “But let me get you back to
the castle, in your own bed for a sleep, first.”
“Don’t I need to go to the hospital wing?” Remus asked thickly, looking back to
the nurse.
“No. I
think I’m leaving you in capable hands, Remus,” she said, looking at Sirius
strangely. “I’ll just accompany back to your dormitory and leave you to rest.”
***
And sleep
Remus must have done, because when he opened his eyes again, the sky beyond the
dormitory windows was dark. He felt so much better, already, just from the
sleep. He yawned and looked around, and realised once again he was not alone.
Sirius was sitting beside him on the bed, holding his hand. James and Peter
were at the bottom of his mattress, playing a game of cards between them, which
they instantly neglected when they heard him yawn.
“He liiiiives,” James teased, sweeping the cards on the floor.
“About
bloody time,” Peter rolled his eyes. “Thought Sirius might have cocked up the
healing and put you into an infinite sleep or something.”
“My healing
skills are impeccable,” Sirius grinned, “Pomfrey
herself said so.”
“Think she
was just shocked at seeing you at six in the morning, personally,” James
winked, and got to his feet. “Come on, Peter. We’re the third and fourth wheel
now. Good to have you back, Moony.”
“See you
later,” Peter smiled, and walked from the room with James quickly, too quickly,
Remus realised.
“Remus,”
Sirius wasted no time in lifting the hand he held to his lips as soon as the
other two were gone.
“Sirius?” Remus surveyed him, pale, tired and unkempt.
“What… what happened last night? I asked you not to come after me.”
“I didn’t,”
Sirius said quietly, lowering the hand and wrapping it in both of his own. “I
didn’t come after you until six this morning, when I went to Pomfrey and told her that I knew exactly the minute you
would change back, and that I knew we should be there as soon as possible for
you.”
“Did she
ask questions?” Remus’ eyes flew wide with fear. “Did she ask how you knew?”
“I just
said that after six years, I knew. She didn’t question me, Remus. Our secret is
safe, don’t worry.”
Remus let
himself fall back into the pillows at that in relief.
“The damage
was pretty awful but we were there so quickly nothing will be long lasting.”
“Thank
you,” Remus managed a small smile.
“I owe you
another explanation”, Sirius continued. “I know you’re tired, but I know last
night was made even worse by our argument.”
Remus felt
the pressure on his hand increase and his heartbeat accelerated. He wasn’t sure
he was going to like what was coming.
“What I was
trying to tell you last night, but you kept cutting me off… I can’t love you,
Remus…”
Remus was
already wet eyed. You fucking wet blouse.
Just take it like a man.
“I can’t
love you because I’m not really sure I know how to love.”
Right, what? “Explain,” Remus frowned.
“I don’t…
I’m a man whore. I’ve been out with more girls in this school than anyone else
I know. I bounce from girl to girl.”
“But you’re
not happy,” Remus finished for him, remembering what Peter had told him two
weeks before. “You’re not happy doing that.”
“They fawn
over me, they like me for my looks and the money they think I’ve got… the money
I used to have, I guess.”
He squeezed
Remus’ hand again. “And then I find out that one of my best friends in the
whole world loves me. Not the money, or my good looks.”
“I’m not
saying the good looks didn’t play a part,” Remus sniffed.
“True, without the looks you’d never have noticed me,” Sirius half-laughed.
“That’s actually not true. There were four good years before I fell in love
with you, Sirius, where all I saw was an amazing friend.”
“And then I
kissed him in some seedy dive of a bar. And it didn’t feel like a seedy bar, it
felt like I was in… well. Somewhere a lot classier than ‘Clive’s Tavern’...”
“Don’t, you’ll offend Clive,” Remus smiled through his tears.
“You made
all the difference,” Sirius dropped his eyes to the bed cover. “But then, of
course, me being me, I woke up the next morning and was completely terrified of
that happiness.”
“You were terrified of being happy?” Remus raised an eyebrow.
“Fucking
stupid, right?” Sirius laughed. “And then of course I went completely off the
rails, broke Snape’s nose and threw a fucking water jug at you. Let me say
right now, without any hope or agenda, Remus, that I’m truly sorry. About both of those things.”
“Even Severus?” Remus bit his lip worriedly.
“Even
Snape,” Sirius nodded. “What I did was unfair.”
“So… sorry
if I’m missing the finer points, Sirius… but what are you trying to say here?”
Sirius
sighed and if possible made his grip on Remus’ hand even tighter. “You are…
you’re one of my best friends. And I care for you deeply…”
“But you
can’t love me?”
Sirius
groaned. “No, I’m not saying… I just don’t know how to. Do you think, of any of
the girls I’ve ever been with, I’ve loved any of them? Thought about marrying
them, and having children with them?”
“No, but
you’re seventeen, Sirius, come on. How many seventeen year olds do that?”
“James
does,” Sirius said quietly. “James knows he loves Lily, even though she won’t
give him the time of day. Six years that’s been going on, and you’d think he
would have given up by now. But he hasn’t. He loves her.”
Remus was
thinking of someone else who also loved Lily, and the thoughts he would be
harbouring about her. Yes. Severus was probably dreaming he could marry Lily
one day, too.
“Ever since
we kissed, all I can think about is how I hate how I don’t know how to love
you, Remus,” Sirius whispered. “And I didn’t want to hurt you by doing the
wrong things.”
“So… it’s
not about being queer, or what your family will do?” Remus felt guilty about
the things he’d said the night before.
Sirius
shook his head. “No. It’s nothing to do with that. Because if I’m honest,
Remus… I’ve been attracted to you almost as long as you have me… I just didn’t
know it.”
“And now?”
Remus heard his voice become high pitched.
“I still
don’t know how to love you,” Sirius shrugged. “I don’t know… I mean, I’m… a strayer, I guess. I stray. I snog
a girl, put my hand down her knickers, and then I’m looking for the next one
the very next day. I don’t want to do that to you.”
Remus
swallowed. “Well. You could look at it this way. How long have you been
thinking about kissing me, worrying about loving me?”
“The
longest two weeks of my life,” Sirius groaned.
“Well there
you are then.”
“What?”
“You said
you always start looking for the next girl the next day… and here you’ve been
worried about me for nearly two whole weeks.”
Sirius
exhaled and stared into the blankets as though the realisation was a miracle. “Yeah. I suppose… I suppose that’s right. It’s still not a
lifetime… though.”
“Sirius, I
never… in all of this, I never expected a lifetime from you,” Remus shook his
head sadly, and he bit his lip as Sirius looked up at him questioningly. “Look
at me,” Remus gestured with his free hand. “You’ve patched me up this morning.
But I can’t ask you to do that for the rest of my life… a life where I will
probably be shunned because of what I am. I’ve heard about the new legislation
they’re trying to push through the Ministry, and it’s brutal, Sirius. I won’t
be entitled to any kind of employment, I’ll be destitute… I can’t live off my
parents forever; they don’t have much as it is. Even if those laws don’t go through…
I am what I am. And asking you to commit to a lifetime with me is turning you
into an outcast like me.”
“You think
I give a damn?” Sirius said suddenly. “You think I give a damn about ‘what you
are’ or how people might treat us?”
“You should
if you don’t.”
“Well,
Remus, don’t mean to disappoint you, but Sirius Black isn’t one for doing what
he ‘should’, he’s one for doing what he ‘wants’. And if he wants to make a life
with his werewolf gay lover, then no Ministry bill will stop that.”
“Now you’re
just being obtuse,” Remus shook his head.
“You know
it,” Sirius twinkled his eyes. “So.
After that really long and drawn out conversation, what I’m trying to say,
Remus… is that, if you want… and that you don’t mind that it’s going to take me
a while to adjust… then… whatever you’d like to happen between us, what you’ve
dreamt of for two years… I would like it too.”
I must have murdered myself and this
is heaven.
“That is,
of course… if you’re not planning on starting up with Severus Snape.”
“I owe you an
explanation about that,” Remus swallowed.
“You do,
but if you want to save it until you feel better, I understand.”
“No, I’m
fine. To be honest, there’s not much to tell. That day… I was so heartbroken
when you walked off and left me in the dungeons, I sat there and bawled my eyes
out.”
“Manly,” Sirius grimaced.
“Yeah, I
know. And Severus was the only person left, and he sat and talked to me. He
guessed most of it, anyway, so I didn’t really betray much confidence, but I am
sorry for that.”
He paused and
Sirius urged him on by raising his eyebrows.
“And so then… we talked. And we both found that we were questioning the same
thing.”
“Your sexuality?”
Remus
nodded. “Though the look on Severus’ face when I didn’t twig and thought he was
also in love with you was pretty hilarious. I’m sure you would have loved it
had you been there.”
Sirius gave
a little laugh but stayed quiet.
“And then
we came to a mutual agreement that… we could probably help each other. With a bit of experimentation.”
“I was
afraid of that,” Sirius closed his eyes. “Did you…”
“I did,”
Remus said honestly. “I did… and you know what Sirius? It was great. Because he
made me feel appreciated at a time when I really, really needed it. And he
helped me because it made me realise that it wasn’t just a fantasy. Presented
with the mechanics of gay sex the fantasy could have died real quick but it
didn’t.”
Sirius
smiled again.
“When you
found us, I was just kissing him Happy Birthday because I had nothing else to
give in return for the massive favour he did me. I never even said thank you
properly.”
“Oh god,
and then I came out of nowhere and crunched his beak sideways,” Sirius raised a
hand to his own nose in shame.
“Well…
yeah. But you can’t change the past,” Remus shrugged slightly, and was relieved
to find he didn’t ache nearly as much as he should have been doing.
“And,
that’s it?” Sirius asked, biting his lip again.
“That’s
it,” Remus nodded.
“What does
he expect from you now?”
“Nothing,”
Remus said firmly, “And I don’t expect anything from him, either.”
“But…
Prongs said when he… interrupted you the morning you were really ill… that you
were saying both our names.”
Stupid fucking James and his stupid
big mouth.
“Well it was a fever-induced fantasy… lets just leave it there.” He was burning
scarlet.
Sirius
looked at him before bursting into laughter. “Me and Snape,
huh? I bet that was interesting,”
“Not so
much ‘interesting’…lets just say that I would have stabbed Prongs had I been
able to get out of bed that morning for interrupting it.”
Sirius
laughed again and Remus felt his belly swoop, just like it always did when he
was around Sirius and they were having a laugh.
“You have
no idea how much I want a smoke right now,” Sirius breathed, raising Remus’
hand to his lips.
“Have one,”
Remus swallowed, looking at the window.
“What?”
Sirius’ eyebrows nearly shot off his head. “Are you... did you hit your head
last night?”
“No, you
twat,” Remus laughed, throwing back his covers and swinging his legs off to the
side. “No. Have one if it’ll make you feel better.”
“I can
think of something else that’ll make me feel much better than a fag,” Sirius
got up and shot round the bed faster than Remus thought he could move.
He pulled
Remus into his arms and gave him a proper full-frontal hug,
there were no parts of their bodies not touching as they stood together.
“So what
does this mean, Remus?” Sirius whispered into his ear. “What are we…”
“I think it
means you’ve got yourself a different type of fag,” Remus looked up into his
eyes with a teasing grin playing about his lips. “If… if you still want him
after he’s had his body dirtied up by Severus Snape, of course.”
Sirius
kissed him on the lips, and then pulled back. “He doesn’t look that dirty, I
was being a twat.”
Remus
laughed and suddenly felt very hot and dirty himself.
“What is it?” Sirius picked up on his demeanour change instantly.
“I need a
shower,” Remus blushed. “I stink and I know I’ve got blood everywhere.”
“Want me to
help?” Sirius asked quietly, nuzzling against Remus’ dirty brown hair.
“Do you
want to?” Remus looked dubious. “It’s always a bit, you know,
gross… the first shower after the moon.”
“If you’re
talking about finding out if you crapped yourself during the transformation,
it’s alright… you didn’t. Not this time,” Sirius’ eyes slid to the ceiling and
a grin played about his lips.
“Ohmygod,” Remus buried his face within the crook of Sirius’
neck. “Oh Merlin… I thought nobody…”
“It doesn’t
matter,” Sirius’ firm hands were on his back. “Remember that time those Slytherins laced my cornflakes with laxative?”
“Yeah?”
Remus frowned.
“Well. You
stood by me when I crapped myself and
I didn’t have the excuse of going through a hideously painful bodily
transformation at the time.”
“That’s
true, I gave you my underwear,” Remus thought back to their fourth year, and
how he’d spent the two hours before he could get back to the dorm for new
underwear wincing every time the seam of his trousers tried to cut him in half.
“Well then.
Love. It apparently lasts through crapped pants and
making it look like your best friend tried to do himself in,” Sirius said.
Without
another word, he turned and led Remus by the hand into their tiny adjoining
bathroom. He dropped his hand to reach in and turn the shower on. “Water might
be cold by now,” he thought aloud.
“I just
need to wash this off me, to be clean again,” Remus shook his head, and pushed
off his underwear, catching sight of himself in the mirror as he did so.
“Ouch,” he ran his finger tips over a new healing cut straight across his
belly, running from hip to hip.
“Yeah that
was a bitch to heal,” Sirius came up behind him, squinting at the scar in the
mirror. “It kept coming back open and she taught me this amazing new bonding
spell. It literally sticks the skin back together, when all other methods fail.”
“She taught
you it?” Remus looked back at Sirius in the mirror.
“I think…
she knows our connection,” Sirius said softly. “You have another cut on your back, fuck knows how you did that. I think your wolf is a
contortionist.”
“It was
because it really hurt. As soon as I got to the shack the tremors started
really early, they went on for a whole hour. It was agony.”
Sirius
closed his arms around Remus and swallowed.
“Get off,
I’m all dirty,” Remus wriggled out as best he could, feeling stiffness take up his
joints.
He stepped
into the shower and was relieved that the water was still hot, even though he
knew that would sting more. He tried to lift his arms to reach for the bottle
of shampoo on the shelf above the water stream and whimpered slightly as his muscles
protested.
“Here, let
me…” Sirius’ muscular arm reached up for him and got the bottle down, placing
it in his hand. “Do you need anything else?”
Remus tried
to shake his head but found that his neck hurt, too. “I need…”
“What?”
Sirius frowned.
“I need you
to do this for me?” Remus asked. Relationship Test Number One. Please don’t run away.
“Oh!”
Sirius’ eyebrows nearly fell off his head again. “Okay. Do you want me to get
in?”
“Probably
easiest,” Remus leant against the wall tiredly.
He watched
as Sirius yanked off his t-shirt, his toned stomach stretching up, and then the
trousers falling away, taking his underwear with them. Remus had seen him naked
before –living with Sirius Black, of course he’d seen
him prancing around in his underwear and even less when he was pissed. So as
Sirius moved to shut the bathroom door and turned the lock in it, Remus was
merely sleepily content to watch. It wasn’t new, like it had been to see
Severus naked. But it felt comfortable.
“Right,
your personal washer ready to go,” Sirius stepped under the water stream and
closed the cubicle door behind him.
“If you
make one joke about starting up your own wolf-grooming service, you’re out on
your arse, Pads,” Remus grinned, his eyes closed as the water washed over his
face.
“Would I?”
Sirius pulled the shampoo bottle out of Remus’ hands, before squirting some in
the palm of his hand and reaching forward to pull Remus forward a little and
tilt his head back out of the stream of the water to lather his hair.
It was a
strangely relaxing feeling, being washed by someone else, Remus found, as
Sirius worked through his thin hair and then gently washed it through, keeping
the water off of his face.
“You’re
awfully good at wolf-grooming,” Remus murmured, before opening his eyes again
as Sirius took his hands away to rinse them under the showerhead. “Maybe you
should go into business after all.”
Sirius
laughed. “And what do you want to be washed with?”
“Your
tongue,” the answer was out of Remus’ lips before he could stop them, and he
looked at Sirius, yet again scared he’d be chased off by the brazen request.
But he just laughed, a beautiful smile lighting up his
face. “Well, as much as I’d love to
acquiesce, Mr Moony, I’m not really fond of the taste of blood or dirt.”
“Fair
point, I’ll not hold it against you,” Remus grinned. “In that case, I usually
use the one with the witch hazel in it, it helps the cuts. But I see someone’s
moved it from where I left it.”
“You mean
Prongs has pinched it all,” Sirius gave a tut. “Doesn’t matter. I’m rich and I have great shower gel,” he accioed something from the bathroom cabinet and caught it
deftly. “When I say rich… I mean this was one of the last things I pinched from
my parents’ house before I legged it in the middle of
the night, carrying this bottle, my school trunk and some family silver to
pawn.”
Remus
laughed, before closing his eyes, as Sirius began massing his chest clean. “Mmm. I’m telling you. Set up your own business.”
“I only want to massage one wolf in particular, though,” Sirius carefully
skirted around the cut on his belly and skimmed across the top of his groin.
“Can’t say
I’m not grateful,” Remus smirked.
“God you’re
impatient,” Sirius suddenly laughed, and Remus knew he was talking about his
growing erection.
“You
seriously expect me to stand here, being washed and massaged by you, and not
get turned on?”
“You went
through a muscle ripping, limb snapping process last night and you can still be
turned on the next?”
“Normally
it doesn’t even take that long, if I’m perfectly honest,” Remus let Sirius turn
him around and begin to work on his back. “I think about you all the time,
really.”
“During lessons?” Sirius’ voice was playful.
“Oh yeah,”
Remus smiled to the wall.
“During all
those times you shut yourself away doing ‘homework’?”
“Sometimes.”
“That means all the time,” Sirius’ hands slipped down to massage his
backside gently, kneading the soft flesh with his thumbs.
“Yeah, alright, all the time.”
“Do you wank thinking about me?” Sirius was closer now, his breath
tickled over Remus’ ear.
“Every
night,” Remus whispered back to him. “Have you ever… about me?”
“Every
night for the last two and a half weeks,” Sirius kissed his shoulder gently,
forgetting all pretence of washing and wrapping his arms around Remus’ waist
gently, careful to avoid the new cut.
“Stupid
muscle ripping, limb snapping process,” Remus cursed. “I can get turned on but
I don’t think shagging would be a good move for me right now.”
“We don’t
have to do that… let me do something for you…” And Sirius was turning Remus
back round again, placing a kiss on his lips, forcing his tongue in roughly but
running his hands softly over Remus’ aching shoulders. Best medicine ever.
And then
the hands were gone, sliding down his body as Sirius sunk to his knees under
the water stream, head level with Remus’ crotch. He looked up at Remus. “Did he
do this to you?”
Remus shook
his head, “Not properly…”
“I’m glad to have some kind of first to notch in my bedpost,” Sirius smirked.
Remus
laughed and leant back on the cubicle wall.
“What was it like, fucking him?” Sirius asked, inching closer. “Was it good?”
“It was
good,” Remus’ breath hitched as Sirius brushed his lips gently over his
foreskin. “He’s not at all like you’d imagine him to be.”
“How do you
mean?” Sirius gave a gentle lick.
“He’s… I
don’t know. Tender? I guess. Very understanding.”
“Is that
what you want, tender and understanding?” Another lick made Remus’ knees start
to shake.
“Why is it
relevant?” He managed to ask.
“Because
I’m not very well versed in tender,” Sirius ran a hand up his thigh. “And I’m understanding but I’m also very selfish.”
“No you’re
not-”
“I’m
selfish because right now I’m going to suck you off and I’m going to obliterate
all thoughts of Severus Snape from your mind, Remus, because you’re mine and mine
alone… I need to you be solely mine.”
“It’s…
already done,” Remus squirmed, impatient. “Don’t let that put you off from
trying, mind.”
Sirius
laughed and finally grazed his fingers over the erection in front of him and
guided it to his lips, his tongue darting out to wet the soft skin at the top,
before pushing through it to the slit beneath. Remus’ cry reverberated around
the small stall, spilling out into the tiled bathroom. Sirius repeated the
action again, and was pleased when it caused the same reaction.
“Oh my god,
Sirius,” he arched forward into his mouth, but gave a whimper of pain as his
body protested.
Sirius put
his head back. “I’ll come to you, don’t hurt yourself…” And then he shifted
closer, putting his large hands one apiece on Remus’ hips, and reassumed his
oral administrations, each deep lick of his tongue making Remus shiver. It’s more than I imagined it to be.
The shower
was still beating down on them, the hot water soaking Sirius’ head as he gently
licked. With a small gasp, Remus felt him start to suck his cock and he gave
way to a low groan. “Sirius, that’s amazing…”
Sirius
grunted in response and took more of Remus into his mouth, relaxing his jaw,
before reaching down to cup his balls in his hand. Even they were scarred; he
could feel the lines beneath his fingers. He massaged ever-so-slightly, knowing
the sensitivity of his own, and smiled as much as he could when Remus grabbed
his head and sunk his fingers into his hair with want.
“I’m not going to last very long,” Remus whispered down to him through the
water.
And then,
as though that had been the plan all along, Sirius shifted further forward,
taking even more of Remus into his mouth, and while being careful of his teeth,
began to hum. The resounding cry had him hardening into the shower floor.
“Oh my
fucking hell,” Remus clenched, his dick giving way to a series of tingling
spasms which blazed through his erection, before culminating at the tip, where
Sirius had withdrawn to, sucking him down as he came.
It was all
Remus could do to remain upright, and mid-swallow Sirius had to leap up to
catch him and push him firmly into the cubicle wall.
“I’ve got
you,” he whispered, brushing back a lock of wet hair that was stuck to Remus’
brow. “Remember to breathe, Remus.”
Breathing
was a lot harder than it sounded, though, Remus was finding, as his dissipating
erection still throbbed and his body ached from how much he had tensed when he
reached orgasm. Totally and utterly worth
it, though. “So how did you learn to do that?”
Sirius actually
blushed. “I just did what I thought would feel nice, what I thought I would
like.”
Tiredness
washing over him, Remus grinned as he put his head down on Sirius’ shoulder and
wrapped his arms around him. “Can you write it down for me? As soon as I’m able,
I’d like to repay the favour.”
***
July 1978
Severus
watched as Black kicked the motorbike to life, making most of the students
jump, including Remus, who was sitting in front of him on it, caged in his arms.
Severus watched as Sirius whispered something in his ear and Remus laughed,
tilting his head back, brown hair falling with him.
Next to
them, Potter stood, hand in hand with Lily, Peter by their side. Severus had to
fight not to throw up then and there, seeing them like that. You’re making the biggest mistake of your
life, Lily. Miserably he grabbed the handle of his trunk and hauled it onto
one of the trolleys taking everything to the train. Dejectedly, he turned and
looked up at the Hogwarts building, his beautiful home that he now had to leave
behind and go to live with his mother in a miserable little house that he hated.
At least his father was dead. Severus swallowed and fought down the burning
feeling in his throat, and his ears were assaulted by the revving of the
motorcycle engine.
“You gonna make this bitch fly for us then, Pads?” Potter was
laughing, looking wistfully at the metal.
“No,”
Sirius groaned. “I’m not allowed to fly it with an animal on board.”
The group
around them laughed, Black released the break on the handle and the pair of
them rattled off down the drive, turning heads as they’d continued to do ever
since they announced their relationship the year before. Severus swallowed and
watched Remus Lupin disappear into the distance, lamenting another loss of a
beautiful soul who had chosen another over him, not that there had ever
been any wondering that he would do so in the first place.
