Chapter 7
Sitting outside under a big shade tree where it was cool and a nice breeze blew through, Harry was reclined back against the ancient, gnarled trunk with his eyes shut. He was, honestly, enjoying this. He could be outside without being tormented or forced to slave over yard work. It was, honestly, the first time he really got to fully enjoy the summer without all kinds of other crap tossed in. Sure, he had fun at the Weasley's when he went but it was always so noisy there, not like this. Though not thrilled with the circumstances that he found himself in, being out here where it was so peaceful, he could at least enjoy this part and ignore the rest for the time being. He was, of course, surprised that he was allowed outside without either Malfoy or Snape trailing him but he had caught a couple glimpses of a house elf so assumed he was being watched.
Rubbing his eyes, Harry shook his head, trying to rid himself of the fuzzy effects of the drugs they kept giving him. Normally, he wouldn't have taken anything the two had offered him, not trusting them enough to accept they weren't trying something funny. With as much pain as he had been in, however, he would have accepted it from the devil himself. It hadn't completely killed it but had dulled it enough to where it was something he could manage. He was, though, suspicious about their motives for doing that. Snape, maybe, he could understand doing so. Lucius? No, not a chance. That meant there was something up with it. With as much as Malfoy was asking him about the whole bit with what he was seeing and hearing, he assumed that it had something to do with that. What it could have to do with, however, he didn't have a clue. Only thing that leaned that way was an almost panicked look that passed over Malfoy's face at times when he said a few things. He didn't get that. This, whatever it was, seemed to be something that had happened for a while so he was used to it. It was also something that was known to those that he was acquainted with. Why should it be such a shock then? He was sure that Snape knew because of Dumbledore and the fact that he was certain most of the teachers at Hogwarts knew. He was just going to have to wait and see apparently. It was doubtful he would figure it out on his own so he would just keep an eye out for clues.
Sighing contentedly as a soft breeze blew through, ruffling the leaves slightly, kissing against his face softly. Shifting around into a more comfortable position, he shoved all that junk aside. He did need to think about it, there was no doubt about it, but right now he couldn't be bothered. It was probably the after effects of the drugs he was still on that caused the lackadaisical attitude he was feeling when the issue was probably pressing but he couldn't be bothered to care, really. He was just going to push it aside for a while and move on, thinking about it later when he was more with it. If he didn't come up with anything then he was sure that they would soon do something that would reveal part of it at least. After all, it wasn't like he was sneaking around here anywhere. They had brought him here and this is where he would be staying for the foreseeable future so there weren't going to be many secrets that could kept in close quarters, unlike Hogwarts. That especially held true if they were serious about wanting his help like they said they did. Of course, that could be a ruse but he didn't think so. There was too much risk involved for them, from both sides of this thing, for them to pull something like this.
Hunching down slightly, he felt another wave of tired sweep over him and succumbed to the siren song it emitted, dozing off under the tree, the cool breeze ruffling his messy ink colored hair, something like a smile on his face despite the issues that were involved in his life right now.
Wandering back into the house after an undetermined amount of time being asleep, Harry was feeling slightly disoriented since he didn't know what time it was or how long he had been outside. The only thing he knew at this moment was that he was hungry. As he had been told that the house elves would cook for him whenever he wanted and that he could eat in his room, that's what he was going to do. Maybe once he got something in his stomach he could think about the situation that he found himself in more clearly then sort through what he knew for clues as to what might really be going on. Figuring that was the best plan he was going to come up with, he decided to do just that.
It had taken Lucius and Severus a few hours to come up with something workable that would get them not only the information they needed but how to go about determining what they needed to know from what they gathered. After that, Severus had made a quick trip to Diagon Alley to purchase the needed ingredients then start the potions brewing. They weren't something overly taxing and the worst part was they weren't going to be done until the following day. That was the easy part of the whole thing, honestly. The way they both figured things was that dealing with Potter, and anything that he had to say on the matter, was going to be the worst part of this, probably taking the better part of the night to do. Usually, they would just make it to where he complied with what they wanted but they weren’t going to do that this time around. No, it was better that they reason it out with him and build up some trust over the whole thing to smooth what would probably be more complicated things down the road for them. Though this was an urgent matter that needed attending to soonest, something they would rather go about without any kind of fuss from the boy, it was mutually decided that they wouldn't just start throwing spells at him to get him to do what they wanted. It was also decided that Severus would take the lead. He didn't have the greatest of relations with the boy but there was more of a trust there than there was with Lucius. That might give them the edge in dealing with him. At least they hoped it would. If not, they were going to have to wing it and play by ear.
After checking with the elf that was in charge of keeping an eye on the brat then determining that he was in his room eating, the two decided that now was the time to go for it. Hopefully, since, from what the elf said, Potter was still slightly out of it from the drugs, though not nearly what he had been, he would be calm enough to listen and not argue every damned point they had to say. He wasn't going to count on that though and planned to argue everything they had to say. Lucius, too, was geared up for that as well. Hopefully, the blond would stay out of it as much as possible as Potter wasn't going to trust anything he had to say making dealing with things worse if Lucius had to interject at all. Chances were, with the way Potter was, if anything came from the aristocratic blond, the brat would argue every point then flat out refuse. No, that wasn't good and it wouldn't take much of that to push Severus into a fit of temper over it.
Standing outside the boy's door, Severus glanced at Lucius. When he saw the blond nod, he steeled himself for what he was certain was a fight to come then knocked once before letting himself in. Though Potter looked relaxed as he was finishing up his meal, the instant he saw the two of them he appeared to go on his guard then a wary look crossed his face. That was understandable with the whole situation and Severus was going to ignore it then press on, not bothering to give any reassurances since he knew they wouldn’t work.
Conjuring a chair for both he and Lucius, he then sat down before launching right in, “There are some serious issues we need to discuss with you, Mr. Potter.” Rather than wait for any questions from the boy, he pressed on and detailed what they had observed then some, not all, of the conclusions they had come up with. After explaining the best he could what they thought the issues might be before saying, “To be certain this is right, we just need to cast a couple spells on you. Once that's done, we can work towards finding a solution that will end some of the problems. So, if you'll just sit there, we'll get on with it then work towards ending the problem so you don't have to keep taking the pain killers until things settle down.” Pulling out his wand, he nodded to Lucius and was ready to begin.
Already wary of the two, Harry stiffened up as he heard what Snape said. When he got to the point about casting spells on him, he drew his own wand then, when the Potions Master stopped, said, bluntly, “No!”
Figuring the boy just needed some reassurance, Snape gave an internal sigh then said, “Mr. Potter, I assure you these are nothing more than diagnostic type spells that will do you no harm. It will just give us a reading about certain things. There is no need to get overly dramatic about it.”
Snorting, Harry shook his head then told him, voice and tone firm, “No! There is no way I’m going to sit here and let two people that kidnapped me, beings I didn't even trust in the first ruddy place, to throw spells I don't know at me! Forget it!”
Hearing Lucius sigh, Severus could concur with that sentiment. He hadn't expect this to go easily so he thought he could work with it. “Mr. Potter, I can assure you that the spells are just what they say they are.” Quickly, he told them what they were and did, giving the briefest of rundowns as to what they would show when cast then what it would tell them.
Glaring at Snape heatedly, Harry countered with, “And I'm supposed to take your word for this? Someone who's hated me since the first time I stepped in his classroom for whatever reason? For all I know, this is just an elaborate ruse to do something else. As you do everything non-verbally, you could be casting anything on me. The answer is no!”
Gritting his teeth to hold back some of the more foul things that he wanted to say to the brat, Snape started counting to 100 in hopes of getting his temper under control. When he felt as though he wasn't going to snark the boy, he told him, calmly, “You have my word that no harm will come to you, Mr. Potter. That should be sufficient enough.”
Shooting the Potions Master an incredulous look, Harry gave a short bark of laughter then said, “Your word? That means nothing! I don't trust anything you tell me!” Eyes shifting towards Lucius, he then added, “And if he's involved, I really don't trust it!”
Alright, Snape was starting to run out of options about how to go about this without just doing the spells on him against his will. It appeared that he had overestimated that amount of trust that Potter had in him, making this something that was going to be harder than he planned for. “Look...” he started but was cut off by Lucius.
“The truth is, Mr. Potter, that if we don't find out about this connection you have to the Dark Lord and why your magic is partially bound then it could easily lead the Dark Lord to this place, wards or not.” Though his tone was forceful, Lucius hoped that it was soft enough that it took the sting out of the words. Really, they needed the boy to submit to what they had to do and not fight them. Doing that would just lead this down a road that would make it harder in the end, setting back any progress that he and Severus hoped to make with him.
“I don't care!” Harry spat at him. “I have a feeling if that happened your arses would be in more of a sling than mine! And you both should have thought about a lot of things before kidnapping me! I'm not going to help you do anything, no matter how you try to convince me it's for my own good or whatever. The only people this is going to benefit is you lot. So, forget it! I'm not letting you.” Leaning back in his chair, wand clutched tightly in his hand, Harry glared at the two, waiting to see what they would do, temper doing a slow burn by this point.
Alright, this was not going to end well. Snape rubbed his starting to throb temples as he glowered at the boy but bit his tongue so that he didn't say something that would just make the whole thing worse. Realistically, he could understand why Potter was taking this stance but it didn't help anything at all. Nor did he have a way to counter the arguments the boy had given. And the brat was right; if Voldemort was led here he and Lucius would suffer worse than Potter would. The boy would get a quick Avada Kedavra then be out of his misery, provided he didn't survive it again. The two of them could expect several months of agonizing torture before they were allowed to die. Looking at Lucius, he hoped to convey that any ideas his friend had would be of a great assist right now since the plan they thought up to go in with was failing in a spectacular fashion.
Seeing the glance his direction, Lucius 'got' what his partner in crime wanted so he tipped him a bare nod then focused back on Potter. Really, it was a bad idea for him to handle this since they had a worse relationship than the one with Severus but the Potions Master was getting exactly nowhere with the boy so he couldn't make this much worse than it already was.
Thinking it over quickly, he thought that he might have a way to ease into it, maybe. At least it was worth a shot. Looking at Severus, he hoped to convey to follow his lead, praying that it worked, then said, softly, “I don't think Severus and I can argue your points, Mr. Potter. If the situations were reversed I'm sure that we would see it much the same way as we've both done things in the past to negate any trust you would have in us. We had hoped that there might be some between you and Severus as he's your teacher but it appears there is none.”
“Trust in someone that goes out of his way to make my life a living hell? I don't think so!” Harry snorted, rolling his eyes.
That, Lucius thought, might be an opening. He would stick his foot in it then hope like hell Severus could capitalize on it from there. There was a great deal of doubt that he could be effective in working this out to the ending they needed. Leaning forward, he put his elbows on his knees, making sure Potter saw that the cane containing his wand was still resting beside the chair, then said, voice quiet, “I believe that many, myself included, made erroneous assumptions about what you would be like when you finally showed up at Hogwarts. And, like many who do such things, those assumptions led us to always see what we wanted to, not what was really there thus treating you differently than we should have.”
Snorting, not buying that, Harry rolled his eyes but said nothing, waiting to see where it went.
Sensing the boy was going to let him go on, he pressed forward. “Severus had the misfortune of meeting the Dursleys last night.” That's where he stopped, waiting for his friend to take over or Potter to give them a lead into something they could work with.
Stiffening up, knowing meetings with anyone from the Wizarding World and the Dursleys hadn't gone well in the past, Harry shot a sidelong glance at the Potions Master but said nothing. He was curious, though, as to how bad it had gone since he was well aware of how the Dursleys reacted to such things.
Though not having planned this part out beforehand, Severus was, quickly, able to catch on to what Lucius was doing. He thought that it was probably the best opening they were going to have to get Potter to calm down enough to do what they wanted. At the pause, he told the boy dryly, though sneering at the memory of the odious family, “How you have not cursed them into oblivion is beyond me, Mr. Potter.”
Unable to help himself, Harry snorted then rolled his eyes, “Because I’m underage and don't want to be expelled or tossed into Azkaban for it. Besides, Dumbledore has made it clear that the wards around the house are probably the only reason I stay protected. I may have other places I can stay but Dumbledore says the Dursley's are the safest for me. They are my only family, you know.”
Snorting loudly, Severus gave one of his patented thunderous looks. “They certainly don't have your best interests at heart. Nor does the headmaster, for that matter,” was all he would allow himself to say on the matter.
“And anyone else does? Like you two and the others that supposedly care about me?” Harry told him, tone of disdain weaving through his voice.
The first part of what the boy said was something that registered with Severus, making him arch a brow. He couldn't understand where it came from as he knew the Weasleys would treat the boy fine. But a direct question about that would probably not be answered so he decided to get what he wanted the roundabout way. “Why the headmaster continued to put you with a family that was abusive is beyond me. Apparently, he knew what was going on and did nothing! He admitted that much last night to me. That is not something that should be tolerated! Nor will Lucius and I allow it to be fostered anymore. You are far better here than with that odious family!”
Shaking his head, Harry gives a bitter chuckle. Right now the temper he was finding harder to control since the end of the last school year was starting to boil, pressing towards the exploding point. Glaring at his Potions Master, he snapped, “You two have as much of an agenda as anyone else! The only difference is that you apparently didn't know about the Dursleys whereas the rest did! I don't see how that is any better or more moral on the subject!”
Hearing Severus about to answer the boy, Lucius' brow furrowed then he held his hand up to stop his friend. “Wait! What do you mean everyone else knew? Though I hold no love for the Weasleys, I cannot see Arthur standing by and doing nothing if he would have known about such things! Let alone Molly. She would have taken a rolling pin to them if she knew,” the elder Malfoy stated, trying to keep his contempt for the two beings mentioned out of his voice as he spoke, not wanting to go down that road with Potter if he could at all help it. “I may not care for them, or their way of doing things, but they are not apt to stand by when a child is in need of assistance or in trouble.” He hoped the last part would placate Potter and not send him off on a tangent about what he had seen of the relationship between himself and the Weasley clan.
Eyes swiveling the direction of Lucius, he glowered at him then snapped, sick of all of this, sure it was just a plot for them to get what they wanted out of him, “They do care about me! But they care more about following Dumbledore's every word than what might be best for me! I don't see how that is any better in some ways.”
Lucius was about to answer but Severus held his hand up to stop him. Brow furrowed, he looked at Potter, confused. From Order meetings, as well as other interactions, he knew Arthur and Molly considered Harry to be another of their children, feeling about him the same way they did about their own. In fact, many times they had said something about taking him in. Some of the comments they had made in the past with that offer now made sense so he couldn't understand how Potter could see it differently. “Explain that,” he said bluntly, but there was no bite to his tone when he did.
Eyes turning towards the hated Potions Master, he snapped, “They knew, when Fred, George and Ron got me from the Dursleys before my second year, what it was like there because they were told. They were also told, more than once, what a great bullying git Dudley was. Mr. Weasley was confronted with the Dursleys when they picked me up last year and saw how they acted towards me. Though they go out of their way to not badmouth the Dursleys around me, you can tell by the look on their faces that they know things aren't as they should be. Mrs. Weasley especially! She actually has to fight to not say anything, you can easily tell that. But they let it slide and just go by what Dumbledore says needs to be done, not what is best for me! In doing that, it all keeps continuing on. For the 'greater good' I assume.” That last part was delivered with a snort and eye roll.
Alright, that was something Snape didn't know! He had assumed that Molly would have fought tooth and nail to get Potter away from the Dursleys if they had known how bad it was. Apparently, though, he was wrong on that. It appeared that they were just another failure to do what was right in the boy's life. Scrubbing a hand over his face, he tried to think how to proceed next but wasn't sure what to say.
“They knew? And did nothing?” Lucius all but whispered, an astonished look showing on his face.
Whipping his head around, he glowered at Malfoy then snapped, “They knew. Just like Dumbledore. It apparently doesn't matter. As long as I'm alive, they all seem to think that's the only thing that matters! The rest of it doesn't count, I guess. Nor does what's best for me. They can say what they want, but what they've done, or haven't, proves otherwise. Which tells me someone is scheming something somewhere that involves me. I just don't know who it is or what it might be. Well, beyond you two and Voldemort that is.” Honestly, Harry adored the Weasleys, he really did, and would have jumped at the chance to move in with them but, as angry as he was getting, things he thought then pushed into the deepest, darkest corners of his mind were coming out of his mouth. These were, honestly, things he had wondered about for the last few years but wouldn't voice to anyone or even seriously think over as it raised questions he didn't want answers to. They were also some of the things he was resentful over or suspicious of since he was aware that anyone else in the situation would have resulted in the Ministry or someone else stepping in to rectify it. But, apparently, he was the exception to that for whatever reason. Probably his damned name, something he was also growing to resent more and more with each passing day.
Both men hissed at the mention of the Dark Lord's real name but said nothing, sharing a rather astonished look at what they were hearing but tried to keep that from the boy.
Looking at Severus, Lucius was surprised to see that, apparently, his old friend knew none of this and was just as stunned as he was about what was being said. He had assumed that the Potions Master would have known some of it! Now, though, there was how to deal with it. First, however, he needed to calm the boy down. It was readily apparent he was seriously mad. Clearing his throat, keeping his voice calm, he said, “I can see why you're upset by that. It's a betrayal of a sort, something you have every right to be angry over...” That was as far as he got before Potter interrupted.
Staring at Malfoy, teeth tightly clenched, he spat, “You have no idea! Everyone who purports to care about me has failed at doing the right thing! I've had to deal with almost all the bloody crap I’ve been through on my own! Like, for example, everyone remembers my mom and dad, talking about how great they were or whatever but know what? None of those people, not a single one of them, have ever offered to take me to their graves! None of them! The Dursleys sure weren't going to, hell, they told me from the time I could ask that they died in a drunken car crash. I don't even know where they are buried. I assume it's Godric's Hollow but I don't know for sure. If so many cared for me the way they said they do, you would think someone would have offered but no one ever has. Then there is the fact that no one's bothered to try to teach me about the society I’m supposed to live in once school is over. I'm just winging it beyond that. The only things I know about it are from school, a few visits to Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. The rest I'm clueless about. Except for the fact that wizards are no better than Muggles when it comes to gossip, believing the worst and slinging mud at someone when they don't want to admit they are right.”
Taking a deep breath, not even trying to get his temper in check, he then hissed, “There is also the fact that people who are charged with helping to oversee things and making sure you're safe don't bother.” With that, he shot a deadly glare at Malfoy. “Draco is a prime example of that and how he gets away with murder. Everyone seems to blame me for this but it's not my fault. I just find out I’m a Wizard and most everything I've been taught in my life is wrong then the first person my age I run into is Draco. What does he spout? That pureblood b.s. Then he goes on and on about how Muggle-borns shouldn't be allowed in Hogwarts. I assumed, because I knew nothing, I was one. Great way to be introduced! Then, on the first train ride, sitting with Ron, the first being in my life that actually tried to befriend me, Draco comes along then starts to insult him about his family and clothes. I was sitting there in Dudley's oversized elephant clothes when he did it! After that, he tries to befriend me, saying there is right and wrong people in the Wizarding World, that I should watch out for the wrong kind but he could show me the right ones. When I don't bite, I’m the bad guy and he goes out of his way from there on out to see how much he can torment me, making me the target because I rejected the friendship of a bigot who just wanted me as a friend because of who I was!”
Whipping his head around, he glowered at Snape then snarled, “And people like you allow him to get away with it! You cater to him, and others just like him, then ignore what they do. On top of that, you pick on others! I know good and well the first day in your class you knew I was taking notes, not ignoring you, but you chose to take out some kind of vendetta on me! And it's gone downhill from there. Rather than actually help people learn, you would rather insult them! Yeah, so pardon me if I have no faith in pretty much anyone! Especially anything you two have to say to me!” Stopping, Harry was panting from all of that. He knew it was a ramble to an extent but, damn didn't it feel good to get it out!
Then, before either of them could say anything, he launched into the very last thing that came to mind. “We won't even go into Dumbledore. I'm sure he has someone's best interests in mind, but I doubt it's mine! I have a use and he plans to make sure I do what he wants. I have no clue what that is but I’m sure it's there. Honestly, I bought into that kind old slightly mad wizard persona he puts on but I don't think I do anymore. He's as scheming as everyone else, he just tries to hide it is all. Nor do I think I want to be around to get used in that way.” That is where he stopped finally, shooting glares at both of them men sitting across from him, waiting, wand clutched tightly in his hand to put up a shield against any hex that might be thrown his way.
Sitting there, both men were stunned by what was said. Though Severus was around Potter more, even he hadn't known some of what was spouted in that long, rambling statement. On the heels of that came more of the guilt that he had started feeling the night before. He tried to push it aside but it wasn't going to go easily. Because, honestly, Potter's assessment of the situation was right, probably more than he ever knew. Along with all that, he was feeling more than slightly sick over some of it, like no one even bothering to allow the boy to visit his parents' grave. That was wrong on more levels than he could even contemplate. Something such as that should have been a fundamental thing that everyone close to the boy should have offered when it became apparent the Dursleys hadn't bothered. For Merlin's sake, there should have been regular visits! That was only proper after all! And the boy was angry, he could easily tell that, with every right to be.
The rest, especially the part about he and Draco, hit closer to home than he cared to admit. He could, in many ways, justify some of it for various reasons but, honestly, most he couldn't. It all harkened back to him seeing the boy as the reincarnation of James and him taking out the contempt for the father on the son. Nor, really, did he know what he could even say to the young man that was seated before him to explain away or justify any of what was just said. Because there wasn't a way to do it. He had failed as both a teacher and human being. There were reasons that he favored Draco, good ones, but that didn't excuse slacking at his job because of a perceived prejudice against another student. Nor did it warrant him in allowing things to go on the way he had and letting students get away with bullying. He, himself, had been on the receiving end of that so he knew how it felt. However, he let it happen to others. That made him feel sick. It also raised the question of when he had allowed himself to become the thing he despised in others.
Staring at Potter, Lucius' jaw was working spasmodically as he tried to digest all that was just said. The part with Draco... at first, he was ready to snarl at the lies said, since Draco had told him something completely different. But, as the boy rambled on, he didn't think that he would have said something like that if it weren't true since he just seemed to be saying what ever came to mind, not thinking about what was coming out of his mouth. Sure, part of it probably came from the fact that people saw things from different perspectives but too much of what was said sounded very much like things Draco would spout. Especially at that age when he hadn't learned to control who he said what to. That part he would think over later and deal with from there. If it was true, he could see why Potter held his son in such disdain and how it was going to make things all the harder for him to gain the young man's trust since he had taken Draco's word for all of it, not bothering to question anything.
Moving on to the rest, though... Lucius was stunned to hear most of it. From what he knew of some, Potter was dead on the galleon about it. Especially about Dumbledore. The other parts, though, were enough to make him feel ill. The first thing that came to mind, honestly, was that he was amazed the boy hadn't become another Dark Lord or was on the road to being just that. There was enough crap there that it would turn anyone away from the right path. To not even be offered to visit your dead parents? The ones that gave their life to protect you? That was unthinkable and made him feel sick to his stomach. Sweet Circe's mercy, that was unconscionable on everyone’s part!
Then there were the Weasleys... right then, he wanted to smack sense into both of them then give them a good hexing! They held themselves up as moral beings but allowed this to go on? No, just... no! They should have done something! Dumbledore was smart, even he knew that, but even the smartest beings in the world made mistakes. You didn't just follow anyone blindly or without question. That had been self proving by history many times over. It appeared that the whole of the Wizarding World had failed the young man, spectacularly no less, in many ways.
Now, though, it was time that stopped and he planned to make sure of it. If nothing else, the boy wouldn't end up the second coming of the Dark Lord over it! Because, quite frankly, Lucius was sure it probably wouldn't take much more of all the idiocy he had just heard to start him down that path. Potter might be a moral being but one could only take so much before they began to rethink things. That he didn't want to happen.
Before he could even think about it, or the consequences of doing so, Lucius said, “Mr. Potter, Severus and I will take you to see your parents today, no strings attached. I'm sure Severus knows the location of their grave.”
Looking at Lucius then back at Potter, Severus nodded, “I do and we'll take you to see them. There will be no caveat to it other than we'll have to, for obvious reasons, disguise your looks.” As far as he was concerned, this was the least they could do for the young man at this point. And it was the right thing.
Looking between the two, Harry's eyes narrowed, wondering, despite what they said, if it was a trick. In the end, however, he nodded but said nothing.
Clearing his throat, Severus then told the young man, quietly, “When we return, we'll discuss the rest further once we've all calmed down slightly. I believe there needs to be some modification on many things as well as us explaining others better. Some cooler heads and calmer nerves would help. We'll take what you said into account and work from there with some things.”
Eyeing both men warily, Harry said nothing but nodded. He was firm, though, in that there wasn't enough trust there to allow the two to throw any kind of spells at him but he would at least listen.
Seeing the young man nod, Lucius looked at Severus then said, “Get us some Polyjuice Potion and we'll get going.” Though he knew that this was going to be a huge risk since there was no trust involved on the boy's end, he was more than willing to risk it. Any fallout could be dealt with at a later date.
