‘What in Merlin’s name were you thinking?’ shrieked Professor Minerva McGonegall, going through to the Second Stage of the Telling Off (moving from the tapping of her right foot and narrowed eyes to the huff at the end of every sentence). ‘No! On second thought, don’t tell me! Because you weren’t, were you? It was as if your Brothers had possessed you, rid you of all of your Common Sense-‘
Amy’s nose twitched.
‘I would hardly what I did in any way a lack of any Common Sense!’ Amy snapped back. ‘You can hardly argue that there are more effective ways to catch the New Idiot and any of his Lapdogs from trying to be smarter than they are! No other method any Resistance Member has ever tried has ever been enough to dissuade the Stupid Lot of them! And I am hardly going to waste my time, my energy and what little even temperament I have left to use something that has already been proven to be useless!’
‘I would hardly believe that you could claim to have, in any way!’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall, her shoulders hunching as she gave a huff this time, ‘to displaying Common Sense during this time! There are only two days until the Full Moon and you made the supposed conscious good decision to storm The Ministry and confront the New Idiot!’
‘I would hardly believe that choosing the one idea that has ever worked against the New Idiot and his Lapdogs as proof that I am not using my Common Sense!’ said Amy. ‘In fact, considering that the Full Moon is approaching, I would put forward that it is undeniable that I retain it, even during my worst states!’
And there was a slight moving on from the Second Stage.
‘Not when you fail to realise that you are not the only one who is aware of what the New Idiot and his Lapdogs are threatening the Members of The Marauders!’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall. ‘It did come to the attention of not only The Marauders! And their Allies were aware! They were working on a plan of how to deal with this! There was no need for you to run in there, guns a-blazing!’
Amy could feel her lips snarl.
It was rare when she did fall into the usual behaviour of the Males of The Marauders (along with some noticeable Allies of course). As she was the one who tried to keep her Males from displaying such actions as it only led to trouble, it had to be something major for her to forget the restrictions she placed on herself and…react in such a way.
But this had been one of those incidents.
This was more than what the New Idiot and his Lapdogs had enforced on Tom from The Leaky Cauldron. Tom had only been in the Holding Cell and brought before The Courts before the sun had fallen on the second day. But the New Idiot and his Lapdogs had undoubtedly only expected that.
They had known that they wouldn’t be able to arrest Tom for any longer than that.
Tom had his Contacts. And he had quite a few Goods on the New Idiot and his Lapdogs as his place of business (The Leaky Cauldron) allowed him to always have an ear on all rumours, whispers and even… Anything that Tom could use against another (especially if it was against Others), he did.
It was enough to have Tom argue his way to freedom.
But unfortunately for the Members of The Marauders…
Amy could easily recall when their last Threat on the New Idiot and his Lapdogs. Last summer, when…
But what was a very noticeable –flaw- with the Male Marauders had all too easily been passed on to their Young Ones. And in the case of the un-announced Leader of the Kata containing Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, Seamus Finnegan, Dean Thomas and Neville Longbottom…
Well, Harry Potter was the Young One of Sirius Black and James Potter.
What else could be expected?
Amy didn’t blame the Elder Marauders for using their Last Threat on the New Idiot and the Lapdogs. There was no other choice that could be made as…
The Young Ones always were of the greatest of priority.
And that was why Amy had felt that it would have to be –her- that would intervene for The Marauders and their Young Ones. She was the only one who had –something- against the New Idiot and the Lapdogs and so…
It fell to her.
And she didn’t feel any anger because of this.
The Marauders were still her Pack Members. And those Young Ones… She still considered them to be hers as well.
Didn’t matter what Status she may have with The Marauders now. They may barely know of her existence and only half over-hear the complaints of the Young Ones over the hated Slytherin Female student.
They were still Hers.
‘There was nothing any of you could do until after the Full Moon,’ said Amy. ‘I could.’
Professor Minerva McGonegall snorted.
‘You are feeling extremely vicious effects of the Full Moon this time,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall, ‘and don’t lie and try to inform me that it is not as bad as I’m alluding. I do not need to hear it from Oli and Anto’s own mouths to know that you are in pain. Your physical reactions are enough.’
Amy gave a little sniff.
She knew that she hadn’t been able to hide exactly how badly the Full Moon was hurting her. She couldn’t hide from Oli, Anto, along with Penny and Cedric during this time. They would seek her out for her benefit and theirs.
Had to keep a direct eye on all of her symptoms.
Because if she tried to give into her feelings of just wanting to be left alone, Oli and Anto would over-ride any and all of her orders regarding the Full Moon and they would Contact Bill and Charlie…
And that would be a whole new kettle of fish.
All she needed was Bill and Charlie rushing to Hogwarts and…causing even more mayhem. And it would all be for her benefit.
She couldn’t argue against them.
How could she?
They were worried about her.
‘I know what is more important,’ said Amy.
‘Your well-being does not come before any threats real or perceived, Amy,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall. ‘And I am well aware that you are highly informed of this by the many talks you have had with the rest of your Pack. If they were to ever learn that you had done such a –hurt- to your own body during this difficult time…’
Amy snorted.
She knew, oh she knew, that Bill and Charlie would more than make up for that. The amount of –Talks- she was going to be on the receiving end of by them simply for her unexpected conversation with the New Idiot and the Lapdogs…
There were going to be months of her having to endure these telling offs…
And of course, Bill and Charlie would not be above pulling Anto and Oli into this… Not that they would have to try too hard.
Anto and Oli would be all too willing participants.
Nice of Professor Minerva McGonegall to make sure that Amy was aware of this. To remind Amy of exactly what she had to look forward to. But what else could she expect from the Professor?
Her Guardian who knew…
‘That is between myself and my Kata, Professor,’ said Amy. ‘No one else. And I will deal with those consequences.'
Professor Minerva McGonegall raised an eyebrow.
‘I may only be your Guardian, Amy,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall, ‘and your Elder, but your well-being is important to me. And I do take offence to you not looking after yourself properly.’
‘I have had worse Full Moons,’ said Amy.
‘And that is neither here nor there,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall. ‘The fact still remains that you are hurting.’
‘I know what I am capable of,’ said Amy. ‘And what I can endure. I am not in the Hospital Wing under Poppy’s care.’
‘Not for lack of trying,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall. ‘And the only reason that Poppy isn’t currently dragging you into the Hospital Wing is because I wanted to have words with you first. But that does not mean that Poppy will not be waiting in the wings to drag you to be medically looked at when I am finished.’
Amy gave a little snort.
If Professor Minerva McGonegall honestly believed that Amy would just wait around until the Elder was finished with her, then she was delusional. When Amy had had enough, she would walk out of there and nothing Professor Minerva McGonegall could say would change her mind.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t any way that Amy could win the argument over the Sick Wing. The Full Moon was giving her Hell, and even if it wasn’t… Her Kata would force her to visit Poppy as soon as possible in order to spend most of it there.
They always did.
If her Kata had their way, she would be under Poppy’s care three days before the Full Moon and kept three days after it as well. And they used to be able to insist on it, but then…
The Curse had changed everything.
Not how her Kata viewed the Full Moon and its effects, but as they couldn’t rely on the Hospital Wing to make sure that Amy rested… They instead pulled her from nearly everything to ensure it.
And that was nearly as annoying.
The fact that the Elders were actually guilty of also pulling the same stunt with her…
She’d end up in the Hospital Wing after this little Talk with Professor Minerva McGonegall. No point in trying to argue against that.
‘I full understand the consequences, Elder,’ said Amy, ‘as I have said before. But I believe it completely worthwhile if it means that the New Idiot and his Lapdogs will have been thwarted from causing such trouble with The Marauders.’
Another disapproving snort from Professor Minerva McGonegall before the Elder finally moved onto the Third Stage (slight twitching of her fingers as if she wished that she had her wand directly into her hands so that she could use it).
‘And I am guessing asking exactly how you came by this information is completely futile?’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall. ‘You will undoubtedly allude to it simply be due to the collection of newspaper articles from The Daily Prophet and The Quibbler and what you over-heard from the youngest Pups of the Weasleys and their friends?’
Hmm.
Change of tactic.
Professor Minerva McGonegall had acknowledged that Amy wouldn’t argue with her over whether Amy would be going to the Hospital Wing or not. Agreed that there was no point in trying to pull that subject any further.
And so had instead decided…
Well, that was almost as a waste of time as the previous one. Professor Minerva McGonegall could hardly expect that Amy would admit exactly where she found out that The Members of The Marauders were in danger of not only being arrested and thrown in front of The Courts.
But also of being –lost- in Azkaban.
Amy could feel the growl begin growing in her throat again.
She would –not- allow that to happen.
She wouldn’t –allow- James Potter, Remus Lupin, Lily Evans, Alice Longbottom and Frank Longbottom enter the Wizarding prison.
And she certainly wouldn’t –allow- Sirius Black return to Azkaban.
‘That was simply enough?’ continued on Professor Minerva McGonegall.
Well, Amy had to take her little prizes when she could.
And this was one of those opportunities that she couldn’t miss.
Infuriate Professor Minerva McGonegall back.
‘Where the Members of the Pack are concerned,’ said Amy, ‘there are no lengths we will not try.’
Another disapproving snort from Professor Minerva McGonegall.
‘Yes,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall, ‘I have noticed exactly how expertly you do that.’
No need to let Professor Minerva McGonegall know that Anto had learnt of exactly how much trouble The Marauders were in by placing a Bug in Remus Lupin’s Living Quarters. He hadn’t explained exactly how he had managed it but only that he had nearly been caught doing it.
But it was Oli who had given him the idea. It just meant a bit of extra tuning to the Bugs that Oli had had left over from what he had put into the Third Year Gryffindor bedrooms, and…
Anto had gotten what he needed.
And it had served all of them well.
The fact that at some point the Bugs would have to be retrieved as there was no possibility of them being left there to be discovered by any of The Marauders was something to be done…later.
Soon.
But later on.
It couldn’t be traced back to them.
The Members of The Marauders would not see it as one of the Young Ones being concerned, but an infringement on their own space.
‘I will, of course,’ said Amy eventually, noticing the slightly more narrowed eyes of Professor Minerva McGonegall (the Elder’s thoughts of exactly what Amy was brewing was undoubtedly nothing compared to what Amy was. There were so many ways of annoying the Elders, weren’t there?), ‘take this under advisement.’
Big words seemed to annoy the Elders even more.
Adding the act of being prim and proper made it even worse for the Elders.
‘The Detention for your action against the New Idiot and his Lapdogs will be kept until after the Full Moon’s effects have wavered,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall.
Yes, with slightly harsher consequences because of this. The more time the New Idiot and his Lapdogs had to complain, once they had gotten over being completely cowed by her and felt they could effectively hide behind the Elders (expecting the Elders to do the damage for them), the angrier the Elders would be for being forced to have deal with it. They already had enough –incidents- involving the New Idiot and his Lapdogs on their own terms.
The ones that the Young Ones added to this…
‘I have already sent an owl and will be Contacting Bill and Charlie through Smoke and Mirrors tomorrow,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall, ‘to refuse any entry into the United Kingdom by them. Under any situation. They will undoubtedly stay true to form and try to contest, but your only words with them will only be through Silence or Smoke and Mirrors. Understand?’
Amy nodded.
There would be more than simple words thrown back and forth between the Elders and Bill and Charlie. Her two Brothers would still…
‘Now,’ said Professor Minerva McGonegall, ‘I believe there is nothing else that can be discussed between us and so I will leave you in the capable hands of Poppy.’
Yes.
Most of what Professor Minerva McGonegall wanted to yell at her had been before the Elder had demanded to know exactly what Amy was thinking. There had been the hour and a half (seemed like much more) beforehand where Professor Minerva McGonegall had only uttered curse words (in English and in Scottish) and kept going off tangents, giving Amy no chance to reply.
But Professor Minerva McGonegall seemed quite content to keep the conversation to herself, with no need of Amy’s interaction.
