“Harry, love, it’s time to wake up.” Draco softly shook his new husband’s shoulder.
The dark-haired boy pulled the blanket tighter around himself. “Five more minutes.” He mumbled sleepily.
Draco smiled down at his sleepy lover. “You said that ten minutes ago now. If you don’t get up soon, we’ll be late.”
“Mmm, don’t care.”
Finally, Draco moved to the end of the bed and yanked the duvet off of Harry. Said boy cracked an eye open to look at the already dressed blonde. He shivered slightly and wrapped his arms around himself, continuing to feign sleep.
“If you don’t get up, I’ll get a glass of water to pour on you.” The blonde teasingly threatened.
With a great sigh, green eyes finally popped open. “Alright, alright. I’m up.” Harry murmured. He sat up slowly, eyes drooping as he did so. “Dress me.” He requested, raising his arms toward his husband like a toddler.
Draco chuckled lightly. “I am not dressing you, love. But I will get your clothes for you.” He marched across the room to the muggle outfit left out from the night before, a pair of loose fitting jeans and a plain green t-shirt. “Here. While you’re doing that, I’m going to go see if breakfast is ready.”
The blonde kissed Harry chastely on the lips before bending down farther to kiss his swollen, nearly five month pregnant belly. “I’ll see you in the dining room.” He said as he left the bedroom.
“Harry, dear, you’re falling asleep in your eggs.” Narcissa vocally noted.
The dark-haired boy in question jerked up right. “’m sorry.” He said with a small yawn.
Draco looked worriedly as his husband of a month. “Did you get any sleep last night?” He asked, voice full of concern.
“Not really.” Harry replied through another yawn.
“Is something wrong?”
“No, I’m just tired.” Harry insisted and took a limp bite of bacon.
Draco eyed Harry warily for a moment but dropped it for now. He’d talk when he was ready. For now, they had to finish getting ready for their first day of school.
An hour later, and the two boys were stowing their trunks in a compartment on the familiar scarlet train that was the Hogwarts Express. The pair sat on one of the bench seats and made themselves comfortable as the whistle signaling the trains departure blew in the distance.
Harry snuggled into Draco’s side immediately, hoping to get a little more shut eye during the first half of the trip. “Go ahead and sleep, love. I’ll wake you up if anyone important comes by, like Granger.” The blonde softly said to his husband.
“Hermione.” The dark-haired boy said with a yawn.
“Hmm?”
“She has a first name. I’d appreciate it if you used it.” Harry stated pointedly.
“I’ll try.” The blonde said with a sigh. A couple hours passed before anyone of note came by.
Finally, the door to the compartment slid open and a head of stringy, dirty blonde hair adorned with a pair of spectrespecs popped in. “Hello, Draco.” Luna said dreamily. “Oh, I see Harry’s asleep.” She slid the specs down over her eyes. “Probably for the best. He’s surrounded by wrackspurts”
Draco looked up at the girl in confusion. What the hell was a wrackspurt?
“I can wake him, if you like.” He offered.
Harry stirred at the sound of the soft voices. “Are we there yet?” He mumbled and wiped a small amount of drool from his lips.
“Not even close. But one of your friends is here to see you.” He pointed up at the girl in question.
“Hi, Luna.” Harry greeted with a stifled yawn.
Airily, Luna replied, “Hello, Harry. How was your summer?”
Harry sat up straight and disentangled himself from Draco. “Great. I didn’t have to stay at my muggle relatives all summer for once and we got married.”
“So I heard. Congratulations.” Luna sang.
Just then, another familiar face popped up in the open door. “Hi, Harry, Draco.” Hermione greeted as she entered the compartment. She sat in the seat opposite them. “Have a nice honeymoon?”
Harry nodded happily and gave Draco’s hand a soft squeeze.
“How’s the baby?” The bushy haired girl asked next.
At this Harry stiffened. This did not go unnoticed by his husband.
“You alright, love?” The dark-head of hair bobbed in a nod, but Harry’s sudden shaking told Draco otherwise.
“Look…” He turned to the two girls. “I know you guys just got here, but can you come back later? Harry and I need to talk about something.”
Once Luna and Hermione had vacated the compartment, Draco turned in his seat to fully face his lover. “What’s going on, Harry? You didn’t sleep last night. You’re shaking like a leaf. What’s wrong?” He asked, care and concern shining in his silvery eyes.
Harry sighed, knowing he wasn’t going to get out of this. “I… I’m nervous. Really, really nervous.” He replied in a hoarse whisper.
“About what exactly? We’re just going back to school.” The blonde teen said rather nonchalantly.
“No one really knew about the baby when sixth year ended.” Harry started. “But now, it’s kind of obvious and it’s only gonna get worse. What is everyone gonna think?”
Draco nearly laughed. He should’ve known it would be something as simple as that.
“Who cares what anyone else thinks?” Draco asked with a small smile. “What’s important is that we have each other and the support of those closest to us. Besides, I thought we got passed this when we went to get you maternity robes a few weeks ago.”
Harry sighed again. “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to care what other people think so much, I just… do.”
Draco lifted Harry’s chin. “You have nothing to apologize for. You’re a pregnant, moody teenager. I’d expect nothing less.”
“Talking about it helps.” Harry said after a few silent moments.
“Good. Let’s keep talking about it.” The blonde suggested. “What are you afraid people will do?”
“Laugh, point, stare, talk. Maybe worse…” The dark-haired boy trailed off.
“Kids do that stuff anyway. And, I find it unlikely anyone would hurt us.” Draco softly explained.
Just then the lunch trolley rolled around. The boys bought themselves a few snacks to hold them over until dinner at the castle and after stuffing their faces, Harry felt decidedly better.
Finally, the train slowed and the whistle blew, signaling that they had arrived at their destination.
“Ready, Harry?”
“As I’ll ever be.” He replied as they stepped out of the compartment and made their way off the train onto the platform.
“Hiya, Harry.” A voice called from the crowd.
“Hey, Draco. Nice seeing you.” A passing Slytherin said. “Harry.” He added amicably.
Suddenly, a small, third year Hufflepuff came bounding up to them excitedly. “Hi, Draco. Hi, Harry.” She squealed elatedly. “Oh, I just love babies.” The girl gushed and then begged, “Can I touch your belly? Please?”
Taken aback, Harry nodded dumbly. She squealed again and gently laid a hand across the pregnant boy’s stomach.
“I’m so happy for you. Well, I gotta go. See ya!”
“Who was that?” Draco asked as the Hufflepuff retreated.
“Absolutely no idea.” Harry replied as the pair headed toward the carriages that would take them up to the castle.
“You’re glowing, Harry.” A fifth year Ravenclaw girl said in passing. This pattern continued until the two boys were settled into a carriage.
“Wow, everyone’s being so nice.” Harry marveled as Draco helped him into their carriage. Behind them, Neville, Seamus, and Dean climbed in.
“Good summer, Harry?” Neville asked cheerily, though he gave Draco a mistrustful look.
Harry smiled at the round-faced boy. “Yeah, great.”
The four Gryffindor boys chatted amiably as the carriage lurched toward the castle. Draco just sat back watching his lover with a happy grin.
Finally, the carriage came to stop outside the large, open front door to the castle that was Hogwarts. “See you at dinner, Harry.” Seamus called as the other three boys stepped out of the carriage.
“You see, Harry.” Draco started as he climbed out. He turned to help Harry down. “Everyone’s happy for us.”
Harry smiled as his feet hit the ground.
“Congratulations, boys!” The Patel twins chorused as they vacated their own carriage and walked passed the married couple.
“Everyone’s been so nice.” Harry noted vocally.
With that, the pair took each other’s hand and made their way into the castle to start their last year as students.
