"That's my son!! that's my boy!" Mr. Diggory screamed, running up to Cedric's lifeless body.
Screams of horror could be heard amongst the crowd. Neville watched in horror,wondering how such a day filled with such happiness could so quickly change.
His eyes search desperately for Alaster. Who was pulling a distraught Harry Potter up and leading him out of the Maze. Neville not wanting to see anymore of scene played out before him followed.
Earlier that Day
The day of the third task had finally arrived. The great hall was buzzing with excitment. Even with the excitment about the third task. Neville could not stop thinking of Moody.
It had been a week since he told Moody that he loved him.He could still remember Moody's reaction towards his declaration.
Moody had taken Neville in his arms holding him. Neville could feel Moody's body trembling. Neville looking up in Moody's face,he could see a tear slip out of the mans good eye. Neville reaching up brushed the tear away. Looking deeply into the man's eyes and smiled.
Leaning towards Neville he caught the boy's mouth giving him a passionate kiss. Trembling Neville moaned in disapointment as Moody pulled away. Moody then looked at him caressing his cheek.
"My Neville, Moody said leaning down and kissing him on the forhead. My sweet innocent Neville."
Neville looked at him clutching onto his body tighter. Afraid that Moody would send him away.
"Don't waste your love on me Neville, Moody said looking at him sadly. I certaintly don't deserve it."
"Yes you do, Neville protested. Everyone deserves love, even you."
"Does Barty Crouch Jr. deserve love Neville? " asked Moody with a blank look.
"Why are you bringing up his name now of all times," Neville asked confused.
"Answer the question Neville, Moody said. Does Barty Crouch Jr. deserve love?."
Barty watched Neville. He could see the inner conflict that Neville was going through at his question. Barty coming towards Neville leaned down Kissing him tenderly.Looking at Neville Barty had a gut feeling that this was the last time he was going to see him.
"If you can answer that question,Then come find me," Said Moody giving Neville one last smile. He turned and left the room. Leaving Neville alone and confused.
Hermione looked over at Neville his from across the table, he looked so sad.
"Nevy whats wrong?," Hermione questioned, a concerned look appearing on her face.
"It's nothing Hermione, Neville said.I'm just under the weather."
"Maybe you should go see Madame Pomphrey," suggested Hermione.
"You know that you can talk to me if something's bothering you Nevy," Hermione said, giving Neville a encouraging smile.
Sometimes it helps if you have talk about it, she said. Its not healthy to keep everything bottled up."
Neville felt tears prick his eyes. Without another word he got up and left the great hall not wanting Hermione to see him cry.
Hermione shocked by the quick way Neville left followed him out of the Great Hall.
Both Hermione and Neville did not notice the figure watching them leave.
Hermione caught up Neville who was standing by Hogwarts lake. Looking at the Lily pads floating in the water. She could see tears running down his face.
"Nevy," She said softly, gently touching his shoulder.
Neville who so desperately needed to be hugged. Turned around and pulled her in his arms.Hugging her.
Barty watched Neville hug the mudblood, seething in rage. How dare that mudblood slut try steal his Neville. Rage consumed Barty wanting more then anything to go over and rip her out of Neville's arms. Hexing the bitch into oblivion.
Barty took a couple of deep breaths, he could not lose control. All his plans a were coming together. He could not ruin them by losing his temper now. Once I am back with my master again.Then I will deal with the mudblood slut.
