In October Teddy was at college studying hard. He was still living in his apartment but was usually only there at night and late at that. The classes were general classes, potions, charms, Herbology, transfigurations but it was all harder than he had expected. He had almost no time to do anything other than study which worked for him just fine because it meant that he no longer had time to think about Hermione Granger. He had given what Draco said some thought and he wasn’t sure how he felt about it.
Sure he wanted to have the typical college experience but he never really wanted to date girls his age. They were so vain and vapid, they only cared about either marrying someone rich, famous or infamous or if they cared about their studies at all they were stuck up about it. No, he wanted a woman who was happy with life, with what she was doing with her life. When he met Hermione Granger the first time he had been in awe, she was smart and charismatic, she had already written two books that he had read numerous times. She was shy, hidden, withdrawn and something about her vulnerability called to him. He wanted to hold her, make her feel better, make her feel good physically as well as emotionally and mentally.
“Teddy!” Fred and George burst in to his apartment on the only Saturday he had managed to have to himself “Thank merlin it’s you!” Fred dramatically held his head against his chest pretending to sob.
“We’ve missed you so much” George added in a sobbing tone.
“Leave me alone, you weirdo’s” He said pulling away “You want some tea?”
“No” George said “We just came to see how college is treating our little boy”
“It’s good” Teddy answered “Hey, I can’t stay and play today, I promised Uncle Harry that I would stop by his and Aunt Ginny’s house for lunch”
“Well” Fred said “We need someone to close up the shop. George and I need to have some time off to visit the extended family…we also need someone to open the store and stay until noon”
“I have an essay…” He started.
“It’s okay. Now that the kids are all back to school it has been real quiet and it won’t be busy until the end of November” George explained.
“You can do all your work at the store” Fred said.
“Stay as long after hours as you want” George added “We only ask that…”
“You phial up some new potion…” Fred continued.
“That we have being brought over tonight for some new products” George finished.
“Fine” Teddy sighed “It’s better than sitting around here” He looked at the clock, it was eleven thirty and he needed to go “What time do you need me there?”
“Three” Fred said “We’ve changed the closing time to eight but with the clean-up that we expect to be done you should be done around nine”
“But you have to wait for that potion” George insisted “Tomorrow when we get home one of us will be working on the new products so we need that potion and it can’t be left outside”
“Okay” He said.
“Opening is still six in the morning” Fred went on “You remember how to do it I’m sure”
“Yeah, yeah” Teddy walked out the door and let them pass him in to the hallway “I have to go, I will see you guys at three”
“Have a good visit” Fred said.
“Yeah tell Harry to come say hi every once in a while” George said.
“Will do” Teddy said walking down the stairs, waving over his shoulder at the two men standing on his landing watching him.
“What time did you tell Hermione to bring the potion by the store?” Fred asked his twin.
“Nine” He answered.

Harry greeted his godson at the door with a bear hug and then pulled him in to the house. Ginny was waiting for him next, hugging him tightly and he was hugged by Lily next who smiled and blushed when he smiled back. Teddy was given a glass of wine by his godfather and then sat down at a table in an inside porch. He watched as thick dark storm clouds moved over the once blue sky, the threat of a storm would make the joke shop a virtual graveyard tonight which meant that his studying would be done in a timely manner and he would have time to read ahead.
“So how’s college?” Harry asked eagerly.
“It’s great” Teddy said “A lot of groups to join, I’m not going to join any though, not this year at least I have too much to study” He laughed “After my seventh year I thought that I could handle anything but the college courses and kicking my arse”
“I’m sure you’ve got it in the bag” Ginny said “Are you taking only general classes or can you take classes for your major yet?”
“We can take special classes for our majors” Teddy answered “But they advise us to take our first years to get the general classes out of the way, then during summer holiday before our second year we can pick the specialty classes”
“What is your major going to be?” Harry asked as Ginny dished out their lunch “Or haven’t you found one yet?”
“I’m not one hundred percent sure of what I want to do” He admitted “I want to work with magical creatures but I want to help them lead normal lives and not be hated by society”
“Major in Healing, specializing in Mind Healing” Ginny told him “Take as many classes in Magical Creatures as you think you may need to learn about the different types of creatures that you want to work with and of course take business classes”
“It wouldn’t hurt to check out some law classes at some point as well” Harry said thoughtfully.
“Thanks you guys” He smiled, they were silent for a while just eating their lunch and watching the others.
“So” Harry said “What would you like to talk about” He watched Lily skip off to play in her room and watched the rain start to fall as they sipped their tea “You said there was something important to talk about?”
“If I tell you” Teddy said carefully “You have to promise not to be mad…both of you” He looked from one to the other.
“Promise” They both said.
“I’m in love with someone” He whispered.
“That’s great” Harry said “And don’t worry about being so young I was already planning my wedding to this one” He nodded at Ginny and she took his hand giving it a good squeeze.
“She is…” Teddy looked out the window at the rain “Older than me”
“How much older?” Harry asked picturing Professor McGonagall and shuddering.
“She’s…” He faltered for a moment then continued in a shy, quiet voice “Your age”
“Oh” He said nodding slowly “And who may that be?”
“Hermione Granger?” Teddy answered.
“I should have seen that coming” Harry said nodding while Ginny smiled “You have a lot in common but…”
“I know I am too young for her and she is divorced and…” Teddy went on.
“No, Teddy it’s not that” Harry said and even Ginny looked at him in shock “Hermione…she…”
“She what?” Ginny and Teddy said.
“I’m pretty sure she was in love with your father” Harry said.
“How do you know?” Teddy asked wondering if this could be truth or his godfathers way of deterring his feelings.
“They…” Ginny said looking at her hands when both men looked at her “Hermione told me that during the war, before he married your mother” She added in quickly though she wasn’t entirely sure if it was true or not “They used to…find comfort in each other’s arms”
“They had sex” Teddy verified with a weird feeling in his chest “Maybe…that’s why…”
“Teddy” Ginny said.
“Its okay” He said looking at them both “I’m an adult I can take this news” He smiled as brightly as he could “Its not like a I knew my father or remember him”
The rest of the visit was subdued after that, the conversation was only around college and classes and Teddy was only too happy to leave to go to the joke shop. He had lied to his godfather when he said that he didn’t remember his father, he didn’t have a lot of memories and he wasn’t even sure how he had these memories but he remembered his voice. A soft yet husky sounding voice, one that still made Teddy’s stomach twist and his throat constrict with emotion. He had no memories of his mother what-so-ever and thought that the only reason he remembered his father had something to do with the lycanthropy that tied them together.
“Here you are” Fred said “I was about to go look for you”
“I am a minute later than expected” Teddy sneered looking a little too much like a Malfoy than the twins had ever seen before “Go off and have fun, I got the store…I promise to only burn down part of it” He smiled.
“Okay” Fred said “But only part of it”

There was a thunderstorm that night and no customers from five on. He managed to finish his essay and read two chapters ahead for every class so he would be ready. From only one and a half months at the college he knew where tests would be taken from, what the homework questions would be and where to find them so he made sure to make notes as he read. He locked the store up at eight and then waited impatiently for the potion that they told him was on the way. At eight forty-five someone knocked on the door and he opened it, the small person ran in and took the hood off swearing about the rain.
“Soaked through, completely” Hermione said turning back to the man who let her in “I’m sorry to be here...”
“Hermione” Teddy said “You make their potions?”
“I do” She answered “Teddy, how are you?”
“I’m good” He answered “Busy with school. You look great”
“Thank you” She said blushing slightly. He walked closer to her and looked in to her eyes, he tried to see the girl that she had been, the girl in the war, the girl that apparently found his father so agreeable “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing” He walked away and Hermione frowned before she turned, she was getting sick of this game and decided that now was a better time to tell him that fact than any.
“What is going on here, Teddy?” She snapped “You are…the most confusing man I have ever meant!”
“I’m confusing?” He asked “You are confusing!”
“You are hot and cold” She snapped “You want me and then you don’t. You make me feel…different and then you stop and I don’t hear from you for nearly two months!”
“Did you…” He looked at her before dropping his head back and looking at the ceiling “Did you sleep with my father?”
“How?” She asked “How did you know?”
“It’s true” He scowled “It’s true?”
“I…” Hermione handed him the potion “This is what they were waiting for and now that you have it I am going to leave”
“You need to tell me!” He snapped, he wasn’t sure what he was feeling , jealousy, hatred and yet he still loved her. These feelings were new and they scared him because he didn’t know what to do about them or who to talk to about them.
“I don’t need to tell you anything” She hissed at him and turned away again but he grabbed her arm.
“Well come on” He growled “I didn’t know my father and it appears that you knew him better than anyone else…well other than maybe my mother”
“Don’t!” She screamed.
“When the hell were you going to tell me?!” Teddy roared no longer trying to keep his voice down “You weren’t. This way you get the best of both worlds, hmm?” He tightened his grip “A young lover who is very nearly the same as the lover you had before!” His words were cut off with a loud slap as her hand made contact with his cheek and he reeled back.
“Don’t you ever say anything like that to me again” She snapped with tears running down her cheeks “You sound just like Ronald and that is not the type of man that I want”
“Hermione…” He called after her as she went out the door “Hermione please…I’m…” She apperated away “Sorry” He whispered.
A/N: So how’d you like that. What do you think? I was thinking that during the war (when Remus was single) who’s to say that he wouldn’t find comfort in someone’s arms. Hermione seemed like a good idea to me, I know it will be strange her and Lupin then her and Teddy but I want to show the difference between the lust (Remus) and love (Teddy) as we will visit memories of Remus and how it was between them. PLEASE REVIEW!!!!
