Without saying another word, Ginny ran out of the castle and apparated to the gates of the Malfoy Manor. She took a deep breath and rang the bell. The door opened and she gave Rosie a warm smile.
- “Hi Rosie. Is your master home?”
- “Hello Miss. Yes, but he’s busy right now. He has guests.”
- “Ahm… I only needed to see him for a quick moment” Ginny said sheepishly.
- “Master ordered not to disturb him, miss.”
- “Who is it Rosie?” They heard Lucius’ voice from the lobby. He came to the door and opened it wider.
- “Hi. Sorry for bothering you. May I talk to you for a second?” Ginny said, shifting uncomfortably.
- “Of course. Come on in.” He wrapped his hand over Ginny’s shoulders and walked her inside.
- “Sorry for keeping you from your guests.”
- “Don’t mind them, darling.” He traced her cheek with his finger “You seem upset. What is it?”
- “It’s… Hermione and Severus.”
- “What about them?”
- “Well there’s a situation that I think only you can fix.”
- “Only I?” he smiled.
- “Yes”
- “I’m all ears.”
- “Your guests are waiting, Master” they heard Rosie’s voice.
Lucius turned his head to her with cold look in his eyes – “Let them wait. I’ll get back to them when I’m done. And I will also need to talk to you, later.”
- “Did Rosie do anything to anger the Master?”
- “I said, I’ll talk to you later.”
- “Yes, Master.” She bowed respectfully and disappeared with a soft pop.
- “Please don’t punish her. She didn’t mean to keep me at the door, she just didn’t want to disturb you.”
- “Don’t worry about it, I’ll deal with her later.”
- “Please promise me that you won’t be hard on her. Please.”
- “You have my word. Now, tell me what is going on with those two. Last time I checked, they were just fine” he asked, motioning her to sit.
Ginny told him about the situation. Lucius watched her with a lenient smile. He reached out to cover her hand with his.
– “Forgive me, darling. I must be getting too old for this. Please explain to me what exactly you want me to do about this little…situation of sorts.”
- “I don’t know. I was hoping you could help. He is your friend, is he not?”
- “See, this is where you’re wrong. He saved my son’s life. Severus is more than a friend, he is my brother.”
- “Well, Hermione is like a sister to me. I can’t stand seeing her like that.”
- “She is a good girl and I feel for her, but…”
- “Maybe you could just talk to him.”
- “I don’t think it will be such a good idea. Interfering in someone’s relationship never does any good to anyone.”
- “If you won’t, there might not be any relationship.”
- “You’re over exaggerating, darling. Look, I understand that you care for your friend and yet, you’re not even giving her a chance to fix things on her own. She does have feelings for him, does she not?”
- “Yes. Ever since her fifth year.”
- “Then I think she’ll be able to figure out how to deal with Severus.”
- “But he doesn’t even want to talk to her. He didn’t even give her a chance to explain herself.”
- “Then it will teach her, not to deal with her wizard when he’s drunk.”
- “Lucius please.” She took his hand in both of hers and brought it to her face, leaning her cheek against his palm. “Please help. For me.”
He smiled, looking into her pleading eyes. She was making things complicated, making their little affair look like a real relationship. Normally, that would be the time to end things without getting any further, but somehow he just couldn’t bring himself to it.
She took his silence for refusal and got up.
- “Sorry for wasting your time. I must go now. Please, return to your guests.” She turned away and made a few steps to the door. Next thing she felt, was two strong arms around her shoulders.
- “You are not wasting my time.”
She turned to him with a hopeful smile on her beautiful face, two big tears making their way down her cheeks. – “So you’ll help?”
“I must be going out of my fucking mind” he thought, cupping her face and wiping the tears with his thumbs.
- “I will do as you ask…” he said and seeing that she was about to say something, silenced her by pressing his forefinger to her lips. “Only… if you promise me not to cry anymore.”
She smiled and wrapped her arms around him, her head pressed tightly to his chest. – “I promise.” She brought her head up “You’re amazing, you know that?”
- “I can assure you, you’re giving me more credit than I deserve” he chuckled.
- “Don’t say that. I can see what kind of person you really are. Despite what everyone else might think.”
- “Can you now?”
- “Yes. You’re understanding, and caring, and nice. And you’re a good friend and a good father. And you make me feel… special… and I like that.” She stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his.
- “I don’t know who is this person you’re describing, but if you’re gonna continue kissing me like that, I might not be as understanding as you claim” he growled and lowered her hand onto his growing erection.
- “Is that a promise?” she giggled.
- “Cheeky witch. I’ll show you what I can make you do with that smart little mouth of yours” he said, pulling her closer into him.
- “Master?” they heard Rosie squeak from the far side of the room.
- “What is it?” Lucius asked, not letting go of the witch in his hands.
- “I’m sorry for bothering you again Master, but your guests…”
Lucius sighed and took Ginny’s hand into his, planting a little kiss on her knuckles.
– “I’ll be right back, love.”
Ginny nodded and smiled “How did he just call me?” she felt her heart start pounding in her chest, as she watched him leave the living room and walk into his study.
- “Gentlemen” she herd his stern voice. “It seems that my attention is needed elsewhere, however it shouldn’t take long, so we will continue this meeting in an hour. I want you to wait for my return here.”
- “Lucius, be reasonable. We all have families to go to. Do you seriously expect us to just sit here and wait for your return?” she heard another man’s voice.
After that, there was a little pause, followed by gurgling sound and some extensive coughing. Ginny put her hand over her mouth to suppress a loud gasp.
- “Any other questions?” she heard Lucius’ voice again.
- “No, my Lord. We will do as you ask” third man said.
- “I appreciate it greatly. Rosie, please take care of our guests” Lucius said, on his way out of the room.
He approached her with a smile on his face – “Ready to go?”
She nodded, not trusting her own voice. The next moment, she felt his hands wrap around her shoulders, as they apparated to Hermione’s room.
- “How are you feeling, my darling?” Lucius asked, taking a seat on the side of the bed. Hermione gave him a weak smile.
- “What are you doing here?”
- “I’m here to help” he smiled back. “Your friend here, is very concerned about you.” He took Ginny’s hand and pulled her closer, placing another kiss on her fingers.
- “Thank you Lucius, but I don’t think that there’s anything you can do.”
- “We’ll just have to see about that” he said, getting up from the bed. “Let me see what that wizard of yours is up to.” He gave both witches a reassuring smile and walked out if the room.
- “Thank you for bringing him” Hermione whispered to her friend.
- “You’re welcome. I thought if anyone can help, it’s him.”
- “I don’t think so, but thanks for thinking about me. I love you.”
- “I love you too, girl” Ginny said, giving her friend a hug.
Pulling out of her Ginny’s embrace, Hermione noticed sadness in her eyes.
- “You look really upset. What’s going on?”
- “I don’t know. It’s probably nothing, but I just can’t stop thinking about it.”
- “What is it?”
- “It’s Lucius. When I came to call him, there were people in his house. I guess he had like a business meeting or something. I told him what happed and then he went to his study and asked them to wait for him, and then he… I don’t know, he just…”
- “What?”
- “I heard some sound, like chocking or something. And then he came out and it was like nothing happened.” She shook her head “I don’t know, maybe I’m just imagining things.”
Hermione took her friend’s hand into hers – “I don’t know what to tell you, girl. I mean it’s Lucius we’re talking about, but on the other hand… he does look like he’s changed a lot.”
- “You’re right. I’m just being silly. If I want this thing between us to work, I have to trust him. You know, he called me love today.”
Hermione gave her friend a warm smile – “That’s good. It means that he starts having feelings for you.”
- “Yeah, I think so. I think I do too.”
- “I’m happy for you, Ginns. I just wish I could still say the same about Severus. I don’t think that he ever felt anything for me, otherwise he would at least have given me a chance to apologize.”
Ginny hugged her friend again – “Don’t give up on him just yet. I’m sure Lucius will be able to talk to him.”
Lucius turned the handle of the door to Snape’s office and to his surprise noticed that it was not warded or locked. He looked at the scattered state of the room and shook his head. He saw Severus asleep on the chair by the fireplace, with a half fool bottle of Whiskey in his hand.
Lucius opened the door that led to the private lab and searched numerous shelves until he found what he was looking for. He walked back in, opened a little test tube and poured the contents of it into his friend’s mouth, holding his head in place so he could swallow the liquid.
Severus coughed and opened his eyes – “What the fuck are you doing, Lucius?”
- “Hello to you too, sunshine.”
- “What the hell was that?”
- “A little something for your hangover.”
Severus rubbed his eyes. His vision did seem clear and he didn’t feel any headache. – “Thank you, mother Theresa. Want to tell me what the hell are you doing here?”
- “Maybe I just wanted to see you and say hello” Lucius said with a grin, as he pulled up another chair and lowered himself into it.
- “Cut the crap. I’m sure you saw me enough over the weekend, so what are you really doing here?”
Lucius smiled wider – “I’m here to…” he frowned a little, as if trying to remember the right word “To be a good friend. Yeah, that’s it. I’m here to play shrink and listen to your crap. I was told that it’s what good friend’s do.”
- “What the fuck are you talking about?”
- “Well, you and Hermione of course. I’m here, so you could tell me why in the fucking world you are being your charming moronic self again and pushing away the only witch that seems to actually have feelings for you.” Lucius watched his fiend’s eyes narrow and smiled, knowing that his remark landed where intended.
- “I don’t know what feelings you are talking about. First she flirts with Potter in the middle of my class and then runs to tell him that she is not sure what she sees in me.”
Lucius silently raised an eyebrow, doubt written all over his face.
- “I’m not exaggerating, Lucius.”
Lucius sighed, putting his head on the back of a chair.
- “I’ve been taking Potter’s crap for way too long. I’m not about to do it again.”
Lucius silently nodded his head.
- “I know what you’re doing, Lucius and I’m not playing your games. If you want to say something, say it and get out. On the other hand, don’t say anything, just get out. I’ll floo you in a couple of days.” Severus brought a bottle to his lips, taking a few big gulps.
Lucius rolled his eyes. With a flick of his hand, bottle flew into a fireplace, little pieces of glass, shattering around it.
- “You think you can prove a point?” Severus growled. His hand automatically went into his pocket to pull out a wand, as he made a movement to stand up, but was pulled back down and bound to the chair by magical bonds.
- “You better think really carefully of what you are doing Lucius, because when I get out of this, I will make you pay for it dearly.”
Lucius stood up curling his lips into a half smile. He muttered an incantation and a hologram of Hogwarts appeared in front of them. Without looking for anything else this time, he enlarged the head girl’s room.
They saw Ginny, Harry and Draco sitting on Hermione’s bed, Harry’s hand wrapped around her shoulders.
- “I’m sorry, Mione. I never wanted things turn out like this. I really did think that you two might have a chance. He was just being a git and it got me angry. It was like I was back in my first year. I know it’s not an excuse. I feel really bad.”
- “It’s not your fault, Harry. It’s mine. I know how he gets if he sees anyone talking in class, so I should have known better and I shouldn’t have said what I said.” She looked at Draco and gave him a weak smile – “I should’ve listened to you. If I would only ask what was really bothering him, instead of… you know… it wouldn’t have happened.”
Draco scooted closer and pulled her into a tight embrace. Harry leaned from the other side and wrapped his hands around both of them. They stayed like this for a while, before letting her out of their hands. Ginny moved closer to friend and started saying something to her, when Lucius whispered another incantation and the hologram disappeared.
He turned to Severus again, watching the expression of his face change in defeat, but still refraining from saying a single word.
Snape let out a sigh and brought his eyes up to look at the wizard in front of him – “You can let me go now.” He tried to get up, but the invisible bonds wouldn’t let him. “You’ve proven your point, Lucius. You’re a big hero and I’m a moron who fucked everything up. Let me go already.” He tried to get up again, but to no avail.
“I said you proved your point, Lucius. For fuck’s sakes…”
- “Have I?”
- “Yes”
- “Very well” Lucius flicked his hand once more and Severus brought his hands up to massage his sore wrists. Lucius came closer and patted his friend’s shoulder – “Good talk, Severus. Good talk. Unfortunately that is all the time I got for your crap today. I have an important meeting to get back to and I would like to get my good night kiss, so if you’ll excuse me.” He turned around and made his way to the door.
- “I’ll go with you” Severus said, rising to his feet and following his friend into the lobby.
They made their way to the Gryffindor Tower in silence. Severus gave the password to the Portrait of Fat Lady and they walked to Hermione’s room.
Lucius opened the door and stepped in, small smile playing on his lips, as he watched four sets of eyes look up at them momentarily.
Ginny let out a sigh of relief and came closer to take his hand – “Good evening, professor.” Severus acknowledged her with a small nod of his head – “Ginevra”
She looked at her friends – “Well, I think it’s time for us to go.” She turned to Lucius again “My room is further down.”
- “I’ll walk you to it” he smiled. She turned her head and gave Harry and Draco a meaningful stare. Both wizards jumped off the bed, ready to leave. Harry made a few steps towards Snape – “Severus, I wanted to…”
- “Out with both of you” Severus hissed, his eyes focused on his witch. “We’ll talk later.”
Draco took Harry’s hand and pushed him to the door – “You have the worst timing, love” he whispered.
Hermione kept looking into two dark eyes in front of her. He stood without saying a word, just gazing at her. Silence between them almost palpable. Then, as if driven by a common instinct they moved into each other’s arms. Hermione wrapped her hands around him, her head resting on his chest, tears slowly running down her cheeks. – “I’m sorry”
Severus’ hold of her got stronger – “As am I.” She brought her head up to meet his eyes again and sniveled a little. He leaned down and placed a little kiss on the tip of her nose. “Still feel like wanting to get to know me?”
She nodded – “If you let me” then reached up and kissed the side of his mouth.
She watched him pull out his wand and ward the door, before picking her up and carrying her to bed. – “I will try” he whispered, covering her mouth with his own.
Ginny opened the door to her room and turned to Lucius – “Thank you for doing it.”
- “You’re welcome”
She reached up and kissed his lips – “Coming in?”
- “I’d love to, but I have a meeting to get back to. I’ll see you tomorrow, my sweet witch.”
She took his hand and pulled him inside, closing the door behind him. Then pressed his back against the wall and leaned in to give him another kiss. – “But I wanted to thank you properly.”
- “You’re playing with fire, witch. I told you what I’ll have you do with that smart little mouth of yours.”
- “I remember” she giggled, feeling him through the crotch of his pants.
- “Cheeky witch” he hissed, feeling his cock twitch under her fingers.
- “Oh, I’m sorry. Am I making you late for your meeting?” she asked playfully, giving him a little squeeze.
Lucius shook his head, this little witch kept surprising him at every turn.
He grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled her down on her knees, his other hand unbuckling his trousers. His pants dropped to his ankles and he brought her lips to his cock.
– “You can start your thanking” he drawled, wicked smile playing on his lips.
She brought her eyes up and answered with the same smile, before taking his dick into her hand and giving him a firm stroke.
– “Finally.”
