Severus Snape tried to keep up with Sera, but she kept disappearing around corners. Though it did seem like she was heading to the Slytherin common room, so he just headed there as well. When he got to the opening he saw Regulus Black standing looking off into the hall.
"Regulus?" Severus asked.
"Hey Severus," Regulus said looking over at him. "What happened to Selwyn?"
"What do you mean?" Severus asked.
"She ran down there crying," Regulus said.
"Your brother insulted her and her family," Severus said.
"Sounds like my brother," Regulus said.
"So she went down that way?" Severus asked. Regulus nodded.
   Severus headed the way Regulus had pointed, up until recently he would have no idea where she was heading. But now he knew about her secret hiding spot, and she had shown him how to get back to the common from there, so now he knew how to get back there. So he ran all the way there, and had to stop and breathe right before he got there, he was that out of shape apparently.
   Severus reached the doorway to that little room, and saw Sera sitting on the floor. Sera's knees we bent and she was hugging them, her face in them, and she was crying. The whole sight hurt Severus in a way he never thought he could hurt, and he wished he had killed Sirius in the library. He dropped everything he was holding, which got Sera's attention.
"Severus?" Sera asked as he rushed over and found himself hugging her. She suddenly went rigid like she was not sure what do next.
"I'm sorry," Severus said, thinking it was him. "I just wanted to make sure you were alright."
"Your hand!" Sera said noticing his left hand. It was swelling up and bruised, Severus had not even noticed it was that bad till that moment.
"Oww!" Severus said as Sera took his hand to look at it.
"What happened to it?" Sera asked.
"I punched Black in the face," Severus said a little surprised even at himself. She looked at him questioning. "Because of how he was treating you."
"You hit him for me?" Sera asked, this seemed to be new territory for her. She suddenly hugged him back and started crying on his shoulder.
"Serafina?" Severus asked at this sudden turn of events. "What's wrong? I know he's arse but he shouldn't be worth crying over." He was rubbing her back with right hand.
"It's not him," Sera said. "He reminded me of my family."
"Oh," Severus said. "That's right, you said your father Dragos was dead."
"My whole family is gone," Sera said.
"What?" Severus asked.
"How much do you have know about America?" Sera asked him.
"Not much," Severus said.
"They have much stricker laws in America," Sera said. "It is illegal to marry a muggle if you a witch or wizard. Even the amount you interact with a muggle is strictly regulated. Which is why my father moved us there when I was six month old."
"Makes sense," Severus said, but was now worried about his own blood status again.
"But my father had not heard of Scourers." Sera said her tears coming again. "Muggles who know of magic and do believe we shouldn't exsist and have cause the death of many witches and wizards since the 1600's."
"Sera?" Severus asked his right hand was now stroking her hair. If he was not so worried about her, he would be thinking about soft if felt.
"Everything was fine for awhile," Sera continued. "It was me, dad, mum, and grandma Magda. Mum's squib sister, Aunt Marietta, even movied over with her muggle husband Furgus, and their daughter Clara. Even though she was a squib her, and mum where very close. And even though dad wasn't happy he still allowed them to be sisters. It was all good, and when I was three I got a little brother, Serpa."
"The who died at three weeks old?" Severus asked.
"They came at night," Sera said. "The Scourers. They killed everyone. Cousin Clara snuck in with them and tried help mum. She grabbed me, while mum was getting Serpa. We were to slow, Clara got us in the the hiding spot in the wall but I saw them stab a knife into the crib."
"Oh no," Severus said hugging her even more.
"The next morning," Sera said. "Clara took me out of the hiding room. She found the bag mum had been trying to pack and picked it up. It had fathers wand, the key to bank vault in Gringotts, and few books, and my stuffed Occamy." Severus contined to stroke her hair. "Then when we went outside, in our backyard, they had burned my family at the stake."
"Oh my Merlin!" Severus said, he hugged her tighter.
"I don't talk about this," Sera said. "The family that raised me does not even know that much."
"You mean you sister Karen?" Severus asked. "Who sent you the muggle book?"
"You remember that?" Sera asked. "Yeah her."
"Why did you tell me if you never talk about it?" Severus asked. He sucked in a sharp breath, of pain, when she picked up his left hand.
"You hit dog boy for me," Sera said.
"I did," Severus said.
"No one has ever done anything like that for me before," Sera said, then kissed his cheek.
"S-Serafina?" Severus asked.
"Thank you," Sera said she had stopped crying. She looked at his hand again. "Lets get you to the Hospital Wing. I'm sorry, I do not know any healing spells."
   Severus watched Sera get up and squat down and picked up everything he had dropped. Then she stood up and helped him up and they walked up to the Hospital Wing together. The entire way up the stairs Severus kept thinking about a pretty girl was being nice to him, and had kissed his cheek. He wanted to ask her out, but he also felt she would never agree to date him. Sera stayed with him in the Hospital Wing while Madam Pomfrey fixed up his hand and then the two of them walked back to the Slytherin common room and studied together.
