The Galactica, and her ten sister Battlestar's, the Atlantia, which was President Adar's Battlestar, the Pacifica, Triton, Columbia, Acropolis, Solaria, Orion, Gemaria, Aquarian and finally, the Scorpius, had gotten under way, and were now heading for the rendezvous point of the old moon they called Cimtar.
A was a full secton after they had left the orbit of Caprica, and Roark had been busy. He and Harry had Patrol three times a day, with bridge duty in between the first and second patrols, between the second and third, you could usually find them in the Galactica's hydroponics garden, where they thoroughly enjoyed working.
After the third patrol, they were generally off duty and would return to either of their quarters to relax, Harry with a book, Roark with whatever project he was currently working on, which proved to be the house and surroundings they and their husbands had bought.
On the ninth day, after he had finished a second duty on the bridge because one of the bridge officers had had to report the the Life Center for a reason he had not been appraised of, on Omega's advice, he decided to head for the Officers club. He had yet to enter the Club, preferring to go to his quarters, but tonight...for some reason, he felt like spending some time with his fellow warriors. He also knew that many of his brothers, and cousins spent at least a couple of centars a night there.
The door to the Officer's club slid open silently at his approach, and after entering, slid closed behind him. He stood for a moment, looking around the room, amazed by how big it was, comfortable chairs around tables, couches lining the walls, a massive bar at one end of the room...and the NOISE...
He heard his name shouted and turned toward the source. Kili was waving him over frantically, a wide smile on his face. Shaking his head at how his cousin was bouncing around, he grinned widely at the group of brothers and cousins, seeing that they had appropriated two of the largest tables, pushing them together so that they could all sit together.
Pointing to the bar, he saw their nods as Fili stood, grabbed one of the few empty chairs, pulled it over, placing it between Kili and Jacen, as if he were trying to separate them, which he probably was, for Jacen threw him a disgruntled look before his aquamarine eyes returned to Kili's bouncing form.
THAT LOOK! Roark thought excitedly, he had seen that look before, and he had to grin. It was the same look Harry had on his face when he looked at Rabastan, the same look several of his brothers and cousins had for their wives or husbands.
"Well, if it ain't Captain Roark finally come to my Club. Good even' to ye, Cap. What can I be gettin' for ye?"
"Hello, Rhett. I'll take a glass of your best Aquarian red. You don't see many Taurins aboard a Battlestar."
"Aye, Cap'n that ye don't," he replied as he reached for a glass, picked up the bottle from the back counter, and poured. "Most of my people tend to stay at home, minding the farms and vineyards...or whatever other family business they may be involved in."
Roark arched a brow at that last, his silver eyes sparkling with sudden mirth. "I think it best if I not hear anything about those OTHER family businesses, Rhett."
Deep laughter sounded from him. "Aye, probably right about that. Your Da though...I let him talk me into coming here when he and your uncles came to Taura to deal with that band of particularly nasty space pirates who had decided Taura would make a great place to have a new base of operation."
"Hum...I was...seven when that happened," he began, the amusement melting from his eyes. "Uncle Kendric had been critically injured during that mission. He died in the Caprican Life Center not long after they brought him home."
"Aye," a look of sadness entered amethyst eyes. "Bad business that, the Lt. Commander was hurt saving me own Da. He had not succeeded, of course, but he still tried. Here ya go, Cap."
"So...oo, you're one of the new ones, are you?" came a voice he didn't recognize.
Roark's head turned. The warrior standing beside him was tall, probably right around six foot, and well-muscled. His hair was not quite red in color, cut short to his head in the current military style. He had hazel eyes, shading more toward brown, and bearing the same look of lust he had seen directed at him and Harry on several occasions since coming aboard.
"Not quite so new, Flight Sergeant," he returned coolly, knowing that his and Harry's continued refusals to those who sought them out, had made them not only targets but challenges that many found they could not refuse.
Roark nearly sighed deeply, but said instead, "Captain Roark Durin Peverell Potter-Lestrange," he introduced himself, picking up his glass of wine. He really hoped that would be the end of it, but no...oo, of course, it wouldn't as he saw fresh interest flare in his eyes.
"Flight Sergeant LeShawn DeAngelo," he returned, giving him a grin.
Roark felt a sudden rush of concern from his family. : I'm fine, boys. I can handle him, : he told them. "Well, Flight Sergeant, if you will excu--"
An arm slid around his waist. "What's your hurry? How about we try to find a nice, quiet table in an out-of-the-way corner? We can get to know each other a bit better."
The squeeze he felt had Roark tensing. "No, Flight Sergeant," he said immediately, pulling free of his hold. "I'm not interested," he said as calmly as he could, as the flight sergeant suddenly stepped much closer to him. "Back off, Flight Sergeant," he said now, his tone holding a sharp snap to it as he glared at the man.
