Harry and Fili, hearing their names called, turned toward the source to see Sebastien and Severus motioning them over to where they stood, with an obviously very unhappy Roark. Both nodded, each raising a hand to signal they'd be there in a few moments before turning back, moving over to where Aiden stood not far away.
"Aiden, it finally looks like they've gotten tired of Roark's sleep escapist routine;" Harry told him, "and are going to do something about it."
Aiden turned, blue eyes narrowed as he found the three."About fucking time," he grumbled, eyes moving over Roark's unhappy face. seeing the exhaustion just beneath the surface. "He's not been getting nearly enough. This transport is nearly finished. I can handle things from here, you go on."
Both gave nods. "Thanks, Aiden."
"Just see that he gets home, and inside safely. He turned, "Kili, Ethan, Colten, and Dylan, you go with them. At the best of times Roark can be a handful, at his worst...well, we all know what he's like when he's at his worst."'
Snorts sounded from them all. "See you at Headquarters tomorrow morning."
Aiden smiled, nodded, and moved away toward where the Warriors of the Garrison were carrying out boxes. Harry and the five Durins turned and moved over to where Sebastien and Severus stood on either side of Roark.
Harry took one look at his brother and gave a deep sigh. "Rory," he began in a soft voice, stepping closer to him. His hands came up to settle on his shoulder, giving him a shake. "This cannot go on, little brother You're on the verge of collapsing."
"It isn't going to, Harry," Severus spoke up, his tone serious, stern. "We are about to do something about this now."
"Yes, we are," Sebatien said as Harry turned his head to look at them. "As your transport is almost loaded, I would like for you to see him home."
: Sebastien, really...I'm--" Roark began, only to be silenced by a look.
"You may be in command here, Lieutenant, but I am STILL Chief Medical Officer, and AS your CMO, I outrank you. Understood?"
Out of the corner of his eye, Roark saw Severus smirk. Sebastien had never been one to pull the rank card, and that he was doing so now, told everyone...including him, just how serious he thought this situation to be.
Roark snapped his mouth closed and gave a nod.
"I can't hear you, Lieutenant"
Ok, so Sebastien was NOT a happy Chief Medical Officer. "Yes, Sir, Doctor-Major Sebastien."
"Good. So glad that you agree." He heard several smothered chuckles but ignored them as he went on. "Now, Harry and the boys are going to take you home," he said, taking the small green bottle that Severus passed to him. "You are to take two of these," he passed the bottle to Roark, which he took hesitantly. "You are to take a hot bath, then go to bed. You should hopefully sleep until around eight hundred."
He gave a nod, silver eyes falling to the bottle he held, saw that it held what looked to be small oval tablets. "What are these?" he asked trepidation clear. He HATED taking pills.
"A sedative. Something that will help to shut your mind down, allow you to relax so you can fall asleep, and hopefully STAY asleep. If you don't then you are to tell me and Severus, and we'll see what else we may be able to do."
"If you DON'T take them, young man," Severus said, his tone hard as he passed a second bottle to Harry. "We WILL know, and you will not like the consequences."
"Severus--"
"Roark," he interrupted, "your lack of a full, restful night's sleep is beginning to affect everything that you do, even all the work that Ethan and Roan have been doing with you, to help you find balance, and build shields and walls between your gifts and the people around you."
"Rory," Ethan moved then, taking his shoulders in his hands to turn him. He knew exactly how Roark felt about taking things that, ultimately, wrested control away. "Look, whether you're willing to admit it or not--" the 'not' that cut him off briefly making him arch a brow as he glanced over at the speaker. "As good as your endurance is, even IT is beginning to fail. You know how dangerous these raids have become. And DON'T think for one moment, Hadrian James, that we are not aware that you are very nearly as bad because you are, and we all know it."
Harry could not stop the flush that suddenly lit his face, as Roark gave a deep sigh, his shoulders dropping. "I have to stop Riddle, especially before anyone else dies."
"Oh, Roark," Severus said with a sigh, arms going around him to pull him close close for a hug. "How many times are we going to have to tell you it WAS NOT your FAULT?"
"Severus is right, Rory. Gareth's death wasn't your fault, and you are not alone in feeling that it was." Harry lay a hand on his brother's back and began to move it up, down, up again. "We ALL thought the building had been cleared and secured. None of us noticed that hidden door, not until it opened."
"I know, but it doesn't make it any easier. Roan lost more than a partner, he lost his husband, the father of his twin daughters."
"Yes, he did, but Roan will, in due time, be alright, and he knows that we are all here for him. All he needs to do ask. We thought YOU knew that too."
Resting his head for a moment against Severus' chest, he allowed his eyes to slip closed, his exhaustion beginning to get the better of him. "I DO know, Severus, it's just that...every time I close my eyes, it replays in my head. Remembering Roan's cry...seeing Gareth fall, seeing the look in Roan's eyes when Robin told him it was too late, he was gone."
Roark drew free of Severus' hold, stepping back to look up at him. "All I wanted to do...ALL I COULD do was work, try to forget."
"That will only work for so long. Why do you think we took Roan off-duty rotation? Tell me, you aren't going to make me do the same to you.?"
"No, Sebastien," he said as he turned to look at him.
"Good. Now, Greyson, Aiden, Severus, Alexei, and I are going to take over here Then we will lead the last raid on that gambling/pleasure house. Boys, see that he gets home alright. It's up to you on whether you decide to rejoin us, and just go on home."
"Harry, we'd like it very much if you went home too. We're fully aware that you haven't been sleeping well either, that you've spent many a night either in your chair or on the other couch. You have a lover too that has had to be wondering where you are."
"Hum...mm. These won't leave me feeling groggy when I wake up, will they?" he asked. He hated the groggy feeling he always seemed to get when he took any kind of sedative.
"You shouldn't if you get the full eight hours rest. If you wake up, and if you still feel groggy, then just roll over and go back to sleep."
"Fine," came his disgruntled tone. "Come on, then, little brother. Time to go home."
