Chapter 8: Gryffindor versus Slytherin
“Are you ready?” Cedric asked. At Harry’s nod, Cedric smiled. “Good. Then let the show begin…” he said and then turned around before walking towards the tank.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,” said the girl who was now holding the microphone, “when Cedric walks up those stairs, he will walk upon a platform positioned just above the water’s surface. At the same time, I will be holding the means for your entertainment in my hands,” she said while holding up a remote control device in her hands as Cedric was walking onto the platform.
“When Cedric’s ready, I will push a button on this remote, which will trigger the platform, making Cedric plummet into the water. Then a lid will fall, closing the tank while a curtain falls around it. When the curtain falls, Harry here will make sure that there is no way for Cedric to escape without us knowing. At this time Cedric will only have five minute to which he will have to escape,” she said as the other girl held up a small clock, “or … it’ll be bye, bye Cedric.”
After her little speech, the girl turned to Cedric. “Cedric, are you ready?”
Cedric nodded his head.
The girl then turned back to Harry. “Harry, are you ready?”
“I guess,” answered Harry as the girl held the microphone in front of him, causing his voice to resonate inside the theater.
“Well then,” she said as she held the microphone in front of herself again, “everyone on the count of three.”
“One…” the girl on the stage yelled.
“…two…” she and others in the audience yelled.
The moment “…three!” was yelled, the girl pushed the button on the remote. A second later, Cedric plunged into the water before a lid flipped onto the tank, locking the Hufflepuff inside.
As instructed, when a curtain fell over the tank, Harry walked over to the side of the tank and started making sure there was no way for Cedric to escape. The raven-haired boy turned to the second side of the tank, leaving his back to face the audience. He came up to the third wall and continued searching for any possible escape, so far there were none. Finally he came to the last side of the tank, blocking him from view of the entire audience. After Harry’s search, he concluded that there was no way that Cedric could get out.
But as Harry was about to walk from behind the tank an arm wrapped around his waist, while a hand covered his mouth. With a muffled yell, Harry was pulled behind the curtain, farther from his date and the audience and onto back stage. When the arm and hand finally let go, Harry turned around, his heart beating fast, and was surprised to see a smiling Cedric, who at the moment, was drying his hair with a towel.
“What took you so long?” Cedric asked as he wrapped his arm around Harry’s waist again and pulled the shorter boy closer to him.
“Cedric, what the…” Harry said dumbfounded as he tried to get out of Cedric’s grasp. “How on earth did you get out of there so fast?”
“Ah… a magician never tells his secrets,” the Hufflepuff smiled. “Wait right here while I wow the crowd. I want to talk to you about something.”
“Okay,” Harry said, feeling slightly uncomfortable in Cedric’s arms.
“You promise not to go anywhere?”
“I promise.”
“Good,” Cedric smiled and then gave Harry a quick kiss on the cheek before releasing him. Then, instead of going back out on stage, Cedric left through another door.
Subconsciously whipping away Cedric’s kiss from his cheek, Harry sat down on a chair near the wall and waited for Cedric. While he was waiting though, Harry remembered something Cedric had said during his announcement;
‘In honor of my late mother…’ he remembered Cedric saying. ‘Late mother…?’ Harry pondered. ‘Poor Cedric, he must be feeling terrible right now. I wonder when she past away.’ As Harry was musing this, Cedric finally returned and walked up to Harry.
“Cedric, is it true what you said … about your mother?” Harry asked.
“Yes Harry. In fact that’s what I wanted to talk to you about,” said Cedric with a serious expression. “Seeing as how my mum really liked you, I was wondering if you’d mind coming to her funeral with me this Saturday. I know it’s kind of short notice but -”
“No Cedric, of course I’ll go,” the shorter boy reassured the Hufflepuff. “Do you know what happened to her? When did she …you know?” Harry asked hesitantly before adding hastily, “If you don’t want to talk about it, that’s okay. I’ll understand.”
“No, no. I know how close you two were. You have a right to now how she died,” Cedric said a little sullenly. “It was really terrible. A week ago, my dad and I went out to plan a surprise for her; it was my parents’ anniversary and my dad wanted to do something special for the occasion. But when we got home, we found her lying on the floor in the living room with blood all over the carpet. She was dead, just like that. The police said that a burglar had broken inside the house and killed her when he found out he wasn’t alone. It was so horrible seeing her there. She was so pale and … it took me a very long time to even realize what I was seeing. I mean, when I’m at home sometimes, I get this feeling that, any minute now, she’ll walk through the door and say, ‘Gotcha, it was all just a joke you guys,’ but she never does.”
“Oh Cedric, I’m so sorry,” said Harry as he wrapped his arms around Cedric to comfort the grieving teen.
As Cedric leaned his head onto Harry’s shoulder and sighed, Harry heard the curtains open. When he left Cedric’s arms and turned towards the open curtains, Harry saw Draco standing there, watching them.
“There you are,” said Draco coolly. “I was wondering where you had gotten to.”
“Malfoy…” Cedric said angrily before Harry could say anything. “I’d never thought I’d see the day when a Slytherin would set foot in Diggory Fair.”
“Diggory … I’m surprised you even think at all,” Draco smirked.
“Stop it you guys,” said Harry as he stood between the two.
“You have some nerve coming here and insulting me in my own fair,” said Cedric, ignoring Harry words.
“I find that it doesn’t really matter where I am, I always find it so easy to insult a good-for-nothing like you.”
“Guys stop please,” Harry begged again, but to no avail.
“That’s it!” Cedric yelled. “Get out of my fair!”
“It’ll be my pleasure. Come on Harry,” said Draco as he reached out for Harry’s hand.
Before Harry could reach out and take Draco’s hand, Cedric grabbed Harry’s arm. “I told you to get out of my fair, Malfoy. Harry, on the other hand, is allowed to stay.”
“Well now we have a problem,” Draco said, raising an amused eyebrow.
“Oh do we?”
“Yes. You see, Harry here is my date, and it wouldn’t be polite of me to just leave my date here with some worthless Hufflepuff trash like yourself, now would it?”
“Draco!” Harry yelled.
“You … you … only blackmail could get someone like Harry to go out with scum like you.”
“Actually, he asked me to go with him. But of course maybe you wouldn’t understand that as you seem to like forcing people into being with you,” he said as he looked down at how Cedric was still holding onto Harry’s arm.
“Why you lousy son-of-a-”
“ENOUGH!” Harry yelled as he pulled his arm out of Cedric’s grip. Both of the boys, shocked at the outburst, turned to look at a very flustered Harry. “Come on Draco. I think it’s time for us to go now,” he said as he held Draco’s hand and led him back onto the stage.
Leaving the theater, Harry and Draco walked in silence. It wasn’t until the doors to the theater closed that someone finally spoke.
“Why were you two hugging back there?” Draco asked as he stopped, causing Harry to spin around to face Draco. “Did he hurt you?”
“No of course not,” said Harry in confusion.
“What were you guys talking about?”
“He was asking me-” Harry started saying before he was interrupted.
“Well, well, well,” a familiar voice said. “Look at what we have here.”
Tuning around at the voice, Harry and Draco saw Ron and the rest of Harry’s Gryffindor friends walking up to them.
“Who would have thought that a Slytherin would have the nerve to even think about coming inside here?”
“I have no time for you right now Weasel,” Draco drawled before turning back to Harry.
“Don’t you dare call me that you little ferret,” spat Ron.
“Come on Draco, let’s go,” urged Harry, pulling on Draco’s arm in hopes of avoiding another argument.
“I’m surprised that you could even afford to come here Weasel,” smirked Draco. “Did your father have to sell all of his belongings so that you could come?” The blonde asked, and at the furious look on Ron’s face, he continued. “I doubt it. Even if you sold every last thing in that shack you call a home, I don’t think you could afford it.”
“Why you little -” said Ron, his face burning red with anger.
Ron was about to lunge at Draco but was stopped when a hand pressed against his chest.
“Ron! No!” Hermione yelled before Harry could. “Harry, I think maybe you and Malfoy should leave.”
Harry didn’t need to be told twice, and without a word, he and Draco walked away.
“You better watch yourself Harry!” Ron yelled after them. “One of these days, you’re going to turn your back and find a knife stuck in it, courtesy of your new Slytherin friend!”
Harry didn’t turn around or even respond to what his friend had said. All he wanted to do right now was leave. After finally reaching the car, he and Draco sat in silence for what seemed like forever as they were being quickly driven away from the amusement park.

‘How dare he?’ Draco fumed as he sat in the Hurst with Harry. ‘Calling me a ferret… He will pay for that. I swear that good-for-nothing Weasel will pay.’
Turning to look at Harry, Draco cursed. Right now, the usually cheerful teen was now staring out of the window. At the moment, he was resting his elbow on the door of the car with his chin in his hand and a frown on his face.
‘Because of Diggory and that Weasel, my date with Harry was a disaster. I have to make it up to him,’ the blonde thought.
“Do you want to go anywhere before I take you home?” Draco finally asked.
“No, that’s okay,” said Harry somberly, unknowingly causing Draco to curse again. “I’m not really in the mood to do anything right now,” he said, looking down and finding his fingers very interesting.
“How about we do something tomorrow then?” Draco continued. “We could do whatever you like.”
“I can’t tomorrow,” Harry said as he finally looked at Draco.
“Why can’t you?”
“Cedric asked me to go with him to his mother’s funeral tomorrow. That’s what we were talking about before you found me.”
‘That son-of-a-bitch…,” Draco fumed internally. ‘How low will that lousy Hufflepuff go to try and win Harry back? I can’t believe Diggory’s using his dead mother. Not even I would go that far.’
For the rest of the ride, both boys stayed quiet until the Hurst stopped in front of Harry’s house.
“I guess I’ll see you Monday at school, Draco,” said Harry as he started getting out of the car.
“Wait Harry,” said Draco as he held Harry’s arm. “I’ll make it up to you some how, I promise.”
Harry just gave Draco a small smile before his arm was let go and he left the car.

‘That has got to be the worst date I have ever been on,’ thought Harry as he was changing out of his school clothes. ‘Well…’Harry thought as he sighed. ‘At least it was with Draco,’ he thought with a faint smile before falling back on his bed.
“There has got to be some way of getting my friends to like each other,” he said aloud as he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. “Maybe I’ll ask Sirius when I see him again. He usually gives me good ides.’
Harry didn’t realize he had fallen asleep moments later, but the next thing he knew, someone was waking him up.
“Harry, are you okay?” A worried voice asked.
When Harry opened his eyes, he saw Sammy looking down at him. “Hey when did you get back?” The still blurry-eyed boy asked.
“A little while after you did,” said Sammy as she sat down on his bed. “I saw you when you went up on the stage in the theater and then again when Ron was there.”
“So you saw that, did you?” Harry asked as he closed his eyes again.
“Yes I did. Now I know why Slytherins never set foot in Mr. Diggory’s amusement park before now. Um … Harry.”
“Mm…” said Harry while his arm was draped over his eyes.
“While I was there with one of my friends, she told me some things about Draco and basically Slytherins in general.”
“Did she now?”
“Yes. She told me that Draco is bad news and the same goes for all of the Slytherins. And well … I’m just worried about you, Harry. I don’t know exactly how much you like Draco, but I know that you do like him. I just want you to be careful around him, alright?”
“Alright, but I still don’t see what everyone’s talking about,” Harry said as he removed his arm from his eyes and sat up to face his sister. “Draco and the rest of the Slytherins have been nothing but nice to me. Sammy, I like Draco and I like him a lot. But because of the Slytherins’ bad reputation, the Gryffindors are just…” Harry stopped and grunted in frustration. “I have to get those two groups to be friends some how.”
“I don’t think you can Harry. This feud is even in my middle school,” the red-head informed her older brother.
“But there has to be something … some way of getting the Gryffindors and the Slytherins to stop fighting with each other. I bet if they just got to know one another, everything would be fine.”
“Well, if I think of something, I’ll let you know,” she said before getting up from the bed and left the room.

“I wondered when I’d see you again,” Harry said as Draco pulled away the covers.
Even though he knew somewhere in the back of his mind that this was just a dream, a very good dream, Harry didn’t care. Being with Draco in a dream this good only meant the reality would be even better. To actually touch the blonde and to really feel him, Harry could hardly stand the wait.
“I’ll never be too far away,” said Draco as he kissed along Harry’s neck.
In mere seconds, the boys had taken off their clothes and were now enjoying the feel of each other’s touch.
“You have no idea how much I want this,” Draco said huskily as he trailed his fingers along Harry’s thigh while his hardened cock prodded Harry’s legs.
Wrapping his legs around Draco’s waist, Harry moaned as Draco’s length rubbed against his entrance.
“Then take me now Draco,” urged Harry as he thrust his hips against the blonde.
At that command, Draco entered Harry with one smooth thrust and immediately hit Harry’s hot spot, causing both of them to cry out in pleasure. With only a few nights together, Draco knew every part of Harry’s body that could make his lover scream for more.
Reaching his hand in between himself and Harry and claiming his lover’s lips with his own, Draco stroked the smaller boy’s leaking cock. At first his strokes were slow as he watched his lover wither beneath him. But listening to Harry’s cries for more, Draco lost control of his body. His fingers stroked Harry’s cock in time as his thrusts started steadily gaining speed.
Their kiss intensified as Harry’s fingers ran through Draco’s silky blonde hair. He moaned into the kiss as his lover continued to ride him, hitting his prostate every time. It wasn’t long before they felt as if they were about to explode.
Their kiss broke and they stared into the other’s eyes as they gasped for air. One of Harry’s hands left Draco’s hair and grabbed onto the pillow underneath his head until his knuckles turned white. He closed his eyes and bit his lip, arching his back up, as he neared his climax. But it was when he felt Draco’s lips on his neck that was the end for Harry and soon they were both screaming out each other’s name.
Draco’s kisses never ceased as he took himself out of Harry and collapsed on top of his lover’s heated body. His kisses moved up to Harry’s cheek until their lips were once again locked into a passionate kiss. When the kiss finally broke they were unable to tear their eyes away from each other.
“If it’s this good now, I wander how it’ll be when we’re together for real,” panted Harry as he smiled.
Without saying anything, Draco gave Harry a mischievous grin before claiming the smaller boy’s lips one more time. Slowly, Harry started feeling aroused again and could tell from the probing against his leg that Draco was feeling the same thing.
This was a very good dream indeed.

A/N: Well what do you think? I know it’s a little shorter from what I usually give you. You guys probably hate me for that whole Cedric scene but it had to be done. Don’t worry though; nothing will happen between them I promise and I put that little dream sequence in the story as poof of that.
