Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
AN: Here's another chapter for everyone. I've been told that I need a beta reader, but since I'm a little picky right now I'm going to be posting a day later than normally so that I can go back and read my work over to check for corrections (which is what I should have been doing anyway). I hope that everyone's enjoying the story and know that I have lots of things I plan to do to our characters and while I'm trying to think up something horrifying enough to scare our deity who's seen it all I'll be taking suggestions for creatures.
Chapter 8: A Shopping We Will Go
After three weeks the four men and goddess settled into a rhythm. Remus would make breakfast. Harry and Draco would do the dishes. Sirius would do the food shopping and Athyr would tend to the gardening (AN: What!?! You didn't really think I would say housework, did you?).
Athyr had contacted Dumbledore and after laughing with the older wizard about some of the initial wards that had been placed on Hogwarts he asked her about the seriousness of her situation. Athyr elaborated on what had happened on Dendera and told him about the oncoming threat of Ra. She assured the elder wizard that he would was not a threat at the present time because of her previous destruction of his last servant. He would take some time to regroup. Dumbledore then invited Athyr to come to Hogwarts and receive the education that she should have began years ago. She promptly accepted and it was understood that Harry, Draco, Remus and Sirius would tutor her in order to help her catch up to seventh year standards by the end of the summer. The question of a wand was brought up and after much discussion Athyr asked the headmaster if her Sistrum was still there.
The mention of this started a whole new line of questions from the four gentlemen sitting beside her and Athyr explained that her Sistrum was sort of like an oversized rattle. It was used often in the ceremonies she would perform and warded off evil. But it also was the closest thing she had to a wand at the time. Dumbledore did have it and told her he would gladly return it when she came to Hogwarts at the beginning of the year and even suggested that the group arrive a week early so that she could be properly tested and sorted into a house. Athyr, however, still insisted on getting a wand of her own and told Dumbledore that she would purchase one during her trip to Diagon Alley later in the summer.
Harry had sent out an owl to Ron and Hermione informing them about the latest household member and letting them know that they would get the opportunity to meet her when they made the trip to Muggle London for their shopping excursion. He had received a note back from Hermione that she and Ron were looking forward to it and that Hermione in particular was glad that there would be another female to tap down all of the testosterone. When Harry told Athyr this she couldn't help but laugh at the idea of having to help Hermione (whom Harry had told her about) with the guys.
Athyr had shown the guys some of her other powers and they were particularly taken with her ability to conjure large cats (tigers were her favorite) from thin air. She proved to be a good sparring partner for Harry and Draco who had taken Muggle Hand to Hand Combat during their past two years at Hogwarts. She often ended up tossing one or both of the boys out of the makeshift ring she had created, leaving their pride bruised more than once.
So far there hadn't been anymore dreams involving the three and Athyr had become comfortable enough with Harry and Draco that hugs and the occasional kiss on the cheek wouldn't send her running from the room. However, Harry was sure that on more than one occasion he had felt Athyr's heated gaze tracking him as he helped her in the garden or came downstairs after having taken a shower. Draco confirmed that he too had felt the same thing. But neither boy wanted to test the theory in reality.
On the morning of the shopping trip everyone met downstairs and after having a quick breakfast they made their way to the fireplace to floo to the Leaky Cauldron where they would be meeting Hermione and Ron. After grabbing a handful of floo powder one by one they stepped into the fire and were transported to the Leaky Cauldron.
Harry and Draco had gone before Athyr so that they could catch her if needed when she came out of the fireplace. As Athyr landed in the pub she felt a hand grasp each elbow to keep her from sliding to the ground. She looked up into two pairs of smiling eyes, one green the other silver.
"Thanks, for a second there I thought my bum was going to get rather closely acquainted with the stone floor." Athyr had been picking up British slang from listening to Sirius and Harry mostly.
"No problem," Harry said holding on to her elbow a bit longer than necessary. Draco too, still grasped her arm and Athyr could feel her heart starting to kick into overdrive in her chest. She gently pulled her arms away and stepped to the side as Remus and finally Sirius flooed into the pub.
"Well now that we're all here lets go out and meet Hermione and Ron," Remus said leading everyone out.
"Welcome to Diagon Alley, Athyr," Draco said as they stepped into the haven of wizard and witch alike.
The street was filled with magic folk both young and old wearing Muggle clothing as well as robes. Athyr stared in wonder at the various shops and peeking into windows she was absolute astounded by how much the place had changed. The group made their way to Flourish and Blotts, where they spotted a tall gangly redheaded boy and a slender brunette talking to one another.
"Ron! Hermione!" Harry called out and he ran over to his friends. He hugged Hermione and Ron and then turned to introduce them to Athyr. Holding out a hand Athyr looked at the young girl who was assessing her with shuttered eyes. "Don't worry I don't bite," she joked to her, "much," she added on after Hermione had taken her hand.
Laughing, Hermione commented, "Oh, I like you. We'll get along fine."
"And you must be Ron," Athyr tipped her head back to look at the tall you. "My you're a tall one, aren't you?" Ron blushed at the compliment.
"Ron's finally stopped growing," Hermione commented, "but his mother thinks he could tack on one or two more inches before he's done. By then he'll be touching the ceilings."
"Aww, 'Mione I won't get that tall... at least I hope I don't," the gangly youth replied.
"So now that everyone's been introduced lets go to Gringotts," Remus began herding the group of teens in the direction of the bank. "We need to get and exchange money for shopping in Muggle London."
As the group entered Gringotts they had to dodge the many goblins that were making their way to various other places in the bank. Deciding to let Athyr go first, the group followed behind her and waited a little to the side while she spoke with one of the goblin tellers. As everyone watched the exchange was very short and Athyr nodded and the waited while the goblin left. Seconds later another much older goblin appeared and motioned for Athyr to walk closer. Walking closer and finally kneeling in front of the small creature Athyr presented her back to him. She then lifted her long hair away from the nape of her neck and showed him something. The goblin then tapped her on the shoulder and she began to pull the white shirt out of the jeans she wore.
"What's going on?" Harry asked to no one in particular.
"I don't know, but let's go see," Hermione answered. The group walked over to where Athyr kneeled facing them and she pulled up her shirt exposing her back to the goblin who gasped and then smiled, something that was very rare for goblins to do. He tapped her shoulder again and she let the shirt fall, stood and tucked it back into her jeans. She smiled at her friends and began to explain.
"I just had to prove who I was. Our family has never had a key. We've never needed one. So in order to prove who I was I had to show the markings of my family and proof that I am the deity that I claim to be."
"What did you show him?" Draco asked curiously.
"Oh, you mean you guys haven't seen my back... strange," Athyr shrugged and turned her back to them. First she lifted the hair at the nape of her neck and exposed the silver dollar sized Egyptian eye. "This," she explained pointed to the symbol, "is the Eye of Horus, it proves that I am a deity and this," she raised her shirt again exposing her back to the group, "proves that I am truly Hathor, Eternal Goddess." On Athyr's back, starting just a few inches south of the eye lay an ankh (AN: if you've never seen an ankh just go to any search engine and type in the word, I guarantee you'll get lots of pictures. Same goes for the eye of Horus). It followed her spinal cord and then disappeared into the waistband of her jeans. It was intricately woven and almost appeared as if it could be picked up from her body.
"Can we touch it?" Harry asked.
"Sure," Athyr answered. "I doesn't hurt or anything. I was born this way. It is a way for the priestesses to know when the deity has returned to her mortal body once more." She sucked in a breath sharply when both Harry and Draco's hands traced over the designs on her ankh. ~It's never felt like this before when someone's touched it. It must be the love that still lingers for them. My magic must recognize it.~ Athyr tapped down on her rising arousal and tried to hold back the moan that wanted to escape. She let go of her shirt as she saw the goblin return.
"Follow me," he said and the group led by Athyr made their way into the catacombs that ran beneath Gringotts. The group got into the two carts that rolled up on the tracks and held on as they took at at break neck speed. Harry usually enjoyed the trips taken to the vaults but this one seemed to go on forever. After about fifteen minutes of travel the carts slowed to a halt in front of a large vault door. After everyone stood securely on the platform in front of the gate Athyr turned to everyone.
"I must caution you that what you're about to see me do, no one has in about 1000 years. The contents contained within are very old and I actually have to give something back to the goblins for their banking purposes," she smiled at the goblin who had driven them down and to everyone's horror he smiled back showing all two hundred of his pointed teeth. "There are actual artifacts in here that you may have thought were myth or preserved in the Muggle world. In short, do not touch." That said Athyr walked over to the vault and began a series of chanting. Suddenly the wind picked up in the tunnel and seemed to flow around Athyr. Everyone's eyes widened as Athyr began to glow and her hair swirled away to reveal that the eye at the nape of her neck was glowing as well. The light seemed to coalesce into her hands and she made the symbol of the pyramid with her hands and aimed it at the door. The magic flowed into the center of the door and a matching eye flared to life. From there the magic threaded its way through the grooves carved into the door forming a large ankh around the eye.
The ground trembled as the door slowly began to open. In that time Athyr had stopped glowing and merely stood away from the dust and debris that was falling away from the door after a millennium of not being used. Finally the door was opened and Athyr muttered a short incantation and several sconces on the chamber within flamed to life. Athyr walked into the vault and stared at the things that she and her family had left behind. There was a gasp behind her and she turned to find her group of friends, wide-eyed and gaping at the treasures contained within the vault.
While there were several large mounds of galleons, sickles and knuts there was also a stack of large plates which Athyr walked over to and gave to the goblin who had followed her in. She spoke quietly to the goblin and he left with the plates to go wait in the carts that had carried them down to the vault.
The chamber seemed to be larger than the Great Hall at Hogwarts and group hovered at the entranced almost frightened to enter further.
"Feel free to come in," Athyr called out. "I just need to find a few things and then we can be on our way. Hermione seemed to be the most astounded by the things she was seeing.
"This can't be right..." she murmured to herself walking over to a large golden sarcophagus. "This king is buried in the temple of kings... and so is this one..." Hermione continued muttering to herself as she worked her way further into the room.
Harry and Draco were studying some of the paintings that graced the wall and one in particular held their interest. It was similar to the moving photos that Athyr had been enchanted by on her first day with Harry and Draco, but instead it was an actual painting. It was life sized and had three individuals in it; two males and one female. The female had her back to the artist and the two males curved around her, each with a hand around one side of her waist. It was easy to make out that the woman was Athyr in one of her past lifetimes and Harry and Draco knew that the two men wrapped around her had been them. The painting was done so that while you could see the people in the painting you couldn't really make out facial features.
"It's been a long time since I've looked at this painting," a voice said from behind Harry and Draco making them jump. They turned to see Athyr staring up at the painting with a pained expression in her eyes. "When I was younger I used to dream about the sitting I did for this painting. I found it hard to believe that something this beautiful actually existed," she sighed.
"Who painted this?" Harry asked quietly.
"His name was Antheris Noir. He was a seer and he told me that he dreamed of me and that he wanted to paint me. I had no idea that he would put the two men I would come to love with all my heart in the painting. I hadn't even come across them yet in that lifetime, but he knew that they were out there, somewhere waiting for me," Athyr gave the two teens a melancholy smile and moved away.
Moving deeper into the chamber Athyr opened herself to the older magic and searched for it. Finally, she felt it's pulsing. She unearthed the small chest next to an urn filled with gold dust and placing her hand on the lock she murmured an old incantation and watched as the straps unwound themselves from around the box. Opening the lid she pulled out the ankh necklace she had been looking for. Placing it over her head she felt it warm at the touch of her skin and nestle itself in the space between her breasts.
Rising Athyr walked over to the group that had regathered at the entrance to the vault. "Is everyone ready?" she asked.
"We're ready, but you haven't taken any money from your vault," Sirius pointed out.
"I don't need to, I just gave the goblins the plates for sickles, galleons and knuts. They'll be paying me for those when we return upstairs. I'll take what I need in wizard money to purchase supplies and then take some in Muggle money and the rest can go back in the vault."
Draco goggled at this news. "You've been holding on to the plates for wizard money for over 1000 years?" he asked faintly. While Draco understood the ins and outs of money, he was totally flabbergasted to know that Athyr had the means to literally make her own money at her disposal.
"Well, yes. You see while goblins are very good at guarding money, they are very bad at keeping track of the things used to make said money; like the plates. My family put a set of the plates in the vault and we've had a standing agreement that when the time comes we will return them to the goblins and they will pay us handsomely for keeping watch over them," Athyr explained.
"But there was nothing guarding the vault," Hermione said.
"You know what happens when you try to open a Gringotts vault without a key, right?" Athyr asked. When Hermione nodded she continued, "Well with Egyptian vaults if you try to break into them, they curse you and an Egyptian curse is way more powerful than any hex you can think of because it goes into your soul. It takes it away and leaves you a shell of yourself. Particularly this vault. As a goddess Hathor cared for the dead in the afterlife, but if you try to steal from the goddess who would ort ort you in the afterlife you don't get to have one. Without a soul when your body dies you just cease to exist. There is no chance of reincarnation. No one would dare try to take something out of this vault. The risk is too great."
That said the group made its way to the other vaults and after everyone had collected their monies they exchanged them and left the bank.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Back in Diagon Alley the group made its way to Ollivander's where Athyr was to pick out her first wand. Athyr looked around at the shop with its many boxes piled to the ceiling and wondered which box would contain her wand. With a rustle from the back Mr. Ollivander appeared.
"Hello everyone," he began taking in the group. "Ahhh... Hathor, here for your first wand, I see."
"He's just as all knowing as Dumbledore, this one," Athyr heard Ron murmur to Hermione.
"Yes, but I go by Athyr this time, Mr. Ollivander."
"Of course, of course... now, let's see what wand would be perfect for you." The older man went into the back and returned to the front with several boxes. Opening the first he handed the wand to Athyr. "Ebony wood, 11 inches with a core of Dragon heartstring." Athyr gave the wand a wave and felt nothing, in the back of the store several boxes could be heard falling off the shelf. Athyr quickly handed the wand back to Mr. Ollivander.
"Don't worry Athyr, this happens to all witches and wizards when picking out their first wand," Harry explained when he noticed the trepidation in the young goddesses eyes.
Mr. Ollivander opened another box and handed Athyr the next wand, "Mahogany wood, 10-1/4 inches, with phoenix feather core," again Athyr waved the wand. This time instead of boxes flying off the shelves the group was thrown back against the door and flattened there. Athyr's eyes widened and she immediately dropped the wand and backed away from it. Athyr reached down and grabbed the wand and her ankh came out of her shirt and rested against the outside.
Mr. Ollivander noticed the ankh and grabbed it as Athyr was placing the wand back on the table. "Ahh... I see. I have the perfect wand for you." Mr. Ollivander disappeared again and returned with a wand, however, this one was not in a box, instead it came wrapped in white linen. Athyr sniffed the air and immediately caught the scent of her home in Egypt. She felt some kinship with what he had wrapped in the material. Unwrapping the wand Mr. Ollivander gestured for Athyr to take it. "This is sycamore wood, 13 inches with a very special core, lets see how it works for you."
Athyr waved the wand and immediately felt her power center. She could feel herself glowing and turned at the gasp she heard behind her. Turning to face her friends she noticed they were all staring at her in awe, "What's wrong?" she asked.
"Your eyes..." Hermione began. "They're glowing..." Athyr could feel her power centering itself. And as she willed it away the glow seemed to fade and the room seemed to dim again.
"Well I guess the core of that one will work out fine for you Athyr," Mr. Ollivander seemed satisfied in his choice.
"What is the core?" Athyr asked.
"It's a hair..." he answered. "One of yours from your previous lifetime, if I'm not mistaken. Godric Gryffindor himself brought both the hair and the tree that this wand was made out of here and requested that it be made. He never said who it was for, but he knew that Ollivander's knows wands and would place it with its rightful owner. And it appears as if it has picked you."
"Interesting... " Athyr murmured quietly to herself. "I had no idea that that was what he wanted one of my hairs for." She turned to face the group at the door. "Godric asked for one of my hairs for no reason and when I questioned him about it he just smiled and said it was a surprise. But I never got to find out what the surprise was due to certain circumstances," she finished. Athyr smiled at Mr. Ollivander and after paying him for the wand the group trouped back out into Diagon Alley.
"Now lets hit Muggle London and get some shopping done," Sirius announced and everyone headed for the Leaky Cauldron and out into London.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Several hours and numerous shops later the girls decided to split up from the guys and do a little female shopping.
"We'll meet you back at the Leaky Cauldron in an hour," Hermione waved to the guys as she and Athyr headed towards the lingerie district of London.
"Now," Hermione began as she linked her arm through Athyr's, "you must tell me everything about yourself."
"There really isn't much to tell," Athyr shrugged. "I'm here to try and have the teenage life that I've never had. I lost all of my family, unfortunately, getting here, but I'll get past that. I'm a goddess, I didn't ask to be born this way, but I will survive and hopefully I can live a life that fulfilling."
"And loving Harry and Draco fits in there how?" Hermione asked.
"It doesn't, I don't plan on loving them at all. I can't... I won't."
"I've seen the way you look at them when you think they aren't watching. I think its too late," Hermione said looking up at Athyr. She dwarfed the young witch by four inches. "Your heart seems to have already given in. And from the looks they were giving you the feeling seems mutual."
"It doesn’t matter. As long as I don't give in then they'll stay alive," Athyr replied stubbornly. "I've had far too much blood shed for my love. This time I won't have that happen. If I don't love them, then I won't have to worry about them dying."
Hermione had been informed in Harry's letter about his and Draco's growing attraction for the woman they considered to be their third. She had had no idea of the depth of their feelings for her and hers for them until she had seem them together. Hermione didn't think they realized how deeply those feelings had already grown.
"Hmm..." she murmured and swi switched to another subject. "Well now that we've separated from the guys its time to do some lingerie shopping," she declared pulling Athyr into the first boutique.
"I've never bought lingerie before," Athyr revealed walking over to a rack filled with lacy bras and panties.
"Don't worry we'll get that all taken care of." The two girls settled in for some hard core shopping. Hermione assisted Athyr in picking out a myriad of bras and panties. They purchased everything; pajama sets, slippers, novelty bra and panty sets, and even some shoes.
By the time they had worked their way back to the Leaky Cauldron the girls had several more bags and were exhausted. They stumbled into the pub and met the astonished gazes of the five guys who were huddled at a table in the corner laughing at some joke.
Pulling up chairs Hermione and Athyr sat down and after the waitress had taken their orders for sandwiches and tea they told the guys about their shopping expedition.
"We spent so much time in La Perla, that I thought we were going to have to pitch a tent in the center of the store," Hermione laughed. "Athyr seems to have developed a fetish for shoes. I had a very hard time getting her out of the Nine West store, unfortunately not before she bought these awesome stiletto boots." When everyone began questioning about said boots, Athyr reached into a large bag and pulled out a pair of leather boots. The heel was 3-1/2 inches high and was stacked under the heel. The leather was butter soft and when Athyr took off her shoes and replaced them with the boots she towered over the group.
"These feel wonderful," she purred. "I've never felt something so comfortable. And I know that I'm tall enough, but there is just something about this heel..." she sat back down and removed the shoes. The girls' food arrived and they tucked in to their meal.
After showing the guys some of the other things that they had bought, the group broke up and headed to their separate homes.
Back at the cottage, Athyr carried her packages back to her room and as she was unpacking her clothing she discovered that she had mistakenly grabbed one of Draco's bags as well. Leaving her room she walked down the hall and tapped on Harry and Draco's door, when she received no response she opened the door and walked in. Athyr was equally aroused and shocked by the sight that met her eyes. She could feel a blush suffusing her cheeks as she watched Draco and Harry locked in an embrace. The two beautiful boys were wrapped around each other and had not noticed Athyr's entrance. She watched entranced as Harry pushed Draco against one of the poles of his bed and attempted to remove the blonde's shirt. Having done so he threw the t-shirt over his shoulder, which landed on Athyr, startling her and causing her to drop the bag which jolted Harry and Draco from their kiss.
She immediately began stuttering, "I-I... you... our bags got mixed up," she began and then backed towards the door. Her heart pounded in her chest and all she could see in her subconscious was the two kissing and Harry removing Draco's shirt. "I'll just leave you to it... sorry." That said she ran from their room and down the hall and into hers.
Athyr pressed her back to her door and placed a hand over her beating heart. Things low in her body clenched and a small moan escaped. She wanted to feel those lips on her skin. She wanted them to undress her, to taste her..."Gods," she murmured to herself and pressed a cool hand to her flushed cheeks. "I need a cold shower." And pushing herself away from the door she grabbed a towel and some of her new clothes and made her way to the bathroom.
AN: There you go kiddies. A super-sized chapter of Remember Me. I got Hermione and Ron in the mix and I even got Athyr a wand and I managed to turn up the heat with our threesome. So what happens next. You'll just have to wait and see. Maybe some sexual tension between the three and an explosion. Don't forget to hit that review button and tell me what you think of my story.
