A/N: Hello everyone! I hope all you Harry Potter
lovers have gotten to enjoy HBP. In the next chapter we’ll be seeing Marvin’s
reactions. BUT FIRST….what is up with Lucius and Arthur hanging out together?
Find out now…
Chapter 8: Marvin the Mad Muggle
Harry glanced back over his
shoulder as he led Lucius and Arthur to his office. The two older wizards were
whispering excitedly to one another and though Harry was glad to see that they
didn’t seem angry he was sure that their sudden enthusiasm was a bad sign for
Marvin. When this particular Malfoy and Weasley got together all they did was
obsess over whatever new muggle device they had discovered that week. They
were always badgering Harry and Hermione for information. Hermione, bright
witch that she was, managed to avoid them with sneakiness worthy of a
Slytherin. Harry, on the other hand, pleaded ignorance in most cases. He
really hated to think what would happen if this pair got their hands on
Marvin.
When they reached the portrait of
a rather large boa constrictor in a sombrero, Harry smiled and hissed the
password. ~Brazil~ The snake winked and the portrait swung aside revealing a
short hallway which led to Harry’s large office space. It had a comfortable
couch and a kitchenette since Harry had the bad habit of working himself to
exhaustion during the school year and never making it to his rooms.
“Why don’t you two have a seat and
I’ll make some tea.” Harry motioned towards the couch facing the fireplace and
then moved over to the kitchenette and pulled out the tea kettle.
Lucius cleared his throat and
Harry glanced over at him. “Will your muggle friend be joining us?”
Harry frowned as he filled the
kettle with water. “I sent Marvin to my private chambers. He has some rather
unhealthy notions as to how he should act towards you, Lucius, and I need time
to fill him in on the truth.”
Harry felt a badly for the senior
Malfoy as he sighed sadly. “The boy has read those blasted books, hasn’t he?”
“I’m afraid so.”
Lucius turned to look at Arthur.
“Well at least he’ll like you then.”
Arthur just shook his head and gave
a dry chuckle. “Well, none of this would have happened if you hadn’t broken up
with a certain blond spitfire back in our school days.”
“And that gives the woman cart
blanche to write whatever she wants about me in those blasted books?!” Lucius
looked a bit defeated and Harry could tell this was an old argument. “For the
love of Merlin! I was under the imperious curse all those years and just when
I think the nightmare is over, that pretentious Gryffindor has to start writing
her books!”
Arthur pulled the pacing blond
down to sit on the couch and patted his shoulder. “Now, now, Lucius. Remember
that in all fairness she began writing the books shortly before the war was ended
and long before it was proven that you were being controlled.”
“Don’t worry, Lucius,” Harry said
with an encouraging smile. “I’m going to explain everything to him and then
I’m sure he’ll be eager to apologize to you and be properly introduced.”
This seemed to brighten Lucius’
mood considerably, and Harry was really beginning to worry about what kind of
plans might be brewing that involved Marvin. The Lucius Malfoy of J.K.
Rowling’s books was frightening because of his allegiance with Voldermort. The
real Lucius could be scary all on his own. The man was positively obsessed
with muggles and would do just about anything to learn more about them. Even a
muggle loving Lucius was still a Slytherin after all, and Slytherins could be
quite devious when they wanted something.
Harry brought the tea tray over to
his two guests and began to serve. They had been discussing Marvin and how he
came to be at Hogwarts for nearly an hour when Harry heard a tapping upon the
window. Noticing that Hedwig had arrived and was looking a bit frantic, Harry
leapt from his seat and hurried to give his pet entrance. He untied her
delivery and fed the owl a bit of a biscuit. There was what looked like a copy
of the Daily Prophet and a small note that read:
Harry,
An owl just sent this to me a few minutes ago and I
thought that you might want to see it as soon as possible. I know you don’t
read the Prophet anymore, but trust me you NEED to read this.
Your best friend,
Ron
P.S. Send my love to our favorite tall, dark, and sexy
Potions Master!
Harry shook his head and smiled.
One of these days Severus was going to lose his patience with Ron and then
maybe it would be the red head’s turn to end up a girl. Speaking of which…
“Lucius how exactly did you know
that this was me. I mean, I don’t exactly look like myself now do I?”
The blond smirked. “Did you
really think that Severus would pull off a stunt like that and then not inform
me? He needed to gloat to someone, now didn’t he?”
Arthur decided to pipe up then.
“What exactly happened?”
“Professor Snape decided that if
fan fiction authors everywhere were so desperate for the two of us to be paired
up then he would do them a favor and actually create the possibility. He’s not
gay you know. Ron will be heart broken.” Harry smiled and took a sip of his
tea.
Mr. Weasley looked a bit alarmed.
“He not actually going to…to…”
Lucius chuckled. “Of course not,
Arthur. It is simply Severus’ way of punishing Harry for leaving him in the
dark where all those stories were concerned. I’ve always been curious about
them myself, but I figured that I probably die a horrible, gruesome death in
each one and therefore I would not enjoy them at all.”
Harry just rolled his eyes a
snickered.
“What?”
“You might be surprised,” Harry
said with a small smile and then turned his attention back to the newspaper.
Just as he took a generous gulp of his tea, the headline caught his eye. He
choked, sputtered, and managed to spray Lucius Malfoy with lukewarm tea and
saliva.
The blond wizard leapt to his
feet, looking every bit the part of an enraged and drenched peacock. “What in
the blue blazes…”
“Wait,” Harry yelped. “I’m sorry,
but…well look at this!”
Harry held out the paper so that
they could see what had startled him. It was a special edition of the Daily
Prophet and it looked as though it had been released not more than thirty
minutes after the disapparated from Diagon Alley.
Mad Muggle Terrorizes Diagon Alley!
This afternoon, in
the midst of all the excitement surrounding the release Harry Potter and the
Half-Blood Prince, a muggle infiltrated Diagon Alley with the aid of an
unknown witch and proceeded to terrorize the magical venue’s occupants during
their Friday shopping sprees. Said muggle was first spotted in Flourish and
Blotts where he is rumored to have purchased J.K. Rowling’s new book. Says one
patron who witnessed his perusal of the shops many texts, “I was positively
terrified! I tried to hide myself and my children behind the stacks. That one
had an odd, feral look about him. From the gleam in his eye it was easy to see
that he’s insane.”
Not long after making
his purchase, the mad muggle and his unknown accomplice encountered the
illustrious Lucius Malfoy who was dining with Arthur Weasley. Upon spotting
Malfoy, the muggle proceeded to disparage the wealthy wizard with all manner of
insults and referred to the wizard’s one-time association with
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Those of us who are better informed than this crazed
muggle will remember that the unfortunate Mr. Malfoy was forced to serve
You-Know-Who while under the effects of an Imperious Curse cast by…
“I can’t believe this,” Mr.
Weasley said with a shake of his head. “I don’t think I have ever seen them
publish something so quickly.”
Lucius snorted. “They did fairly
well when Harry took out that snake-faced bastard.”
“And look at this picture,” Harry
said, pointing at the newspaper once more. The black and white photo displayed
a frantic ‘Harriette’ dashing in front of Lucius’ wand, which was pointed at
Marvin.
“At least no one recognized you,”
Lucius said with a smirk.
Harry growled, though the sound
lost its effect when forced through female vocal chords. “I should hope not!”
“Calm down, Harry,” Arthur said
with a soft smile. “Now, how can we convince you to let us meet your muggle
friend?”
“Oh no, you two are staying away
from Marvin.” Harry glared hard at the two older wizards.
“Marvin the Mad Muggle…that’s a
pretty catchy title.” Lucius examined his nails with feigned interest.
“Perhaps I should give an interview…”
Harry nearly choked on his rage.
They were NOT going to put Marvin in any danger. “That won’t work. Marvin
didn’t know any better and besides, I owe him my life so I won’t put him in
danger by letting you two maniacs interrogate him.”
Lucius chuckled. “Harry, have I
mentioned that you make a lovely girl?”
“Stuff it, Malfoy.”
A/N: So, who do you guys think had Lucius under the
Imperious Curse? Any guesses? Well, you’ll find out in a couple chapters,
though I would love to see if any of you guess correctly.
