"Ohhh ouch..."
Hermione lay on her side clutching her stomach in bed. She had thought that in her sixth month of pregnancy she'd no longer have morning sickness.
She was wrong.
Hermione felt the familiar bubbling inside of her as she slowly pushed herself off of the bed and waddled toward the bathroom on the opposite side of the room. After going in she went to Draco's adjoining door to make sure it too was locked. She went to the sink and turned on the tap to splash some cool water into her face. When she opened her eyes and looked up to her face in the mirror, her features turned downward into a frown. It's not like she was ever really one to care what others thought about her, but she couldn't help but feel a little depressed about the slight weight she had gained. Which was to be expected, with the way Harry and Ron fussed over her and made sure she always had something to eat. Madame Pomfrey had told her that it was a healthy part of pregnancy to gain weight, and that she should not be ashamed of it. But due to the disillusioning charm she still had over her stomach, no one knew her to be a healthy pregnant woman, but rather a slightly chubby smart girl. Harry and Ron said that the weight made her look cute.
Hermione had wondered often why she hadn't told them sooner. They were being unbelievably supportive and she never would have gotten through all of this without them. They had barely left her side since that day two months earlier when they found out. They insisted on carrying her books and walking her to every one of her classes. They'd always make sure that she was comfortable and safe. She was sure that If they had their way, they would camp out in her room every night so that she'd never be alone.
Her due date wasn't for another three months, and the fact that school would be over in a matter of weeks was a heavy burden on her mind. She knew that she'd have to face her parents at some point, she had just hoped that it wouldn't be so soon. Possibly after the baby was born...
Hermione brought a towel to her face, thankful that the sickness had washed over. Being pregnant wasn't all bad, she supposed. She did have people fussing over her and waiting after her every need. Ron had also commented on her "pregnancy glow" which she found out to be from the hormonal changes and the stretching in her skin to accommodate for her larger body. Even her hair had changed! It had lost alot of it's frizzy and wild texture and had smoothed out into silky structured light brown curls. That had been from the extra hormones she had floating around in her body. Hermione grabbed the end of a curl to pull it down and release it as it sprung back up and bounced slightly.
Not bad.....
So maybe it won't be so bad having a kid. She was still the top student at Hogwarts and marked the highest on her end of the year exams. She could still conquer her dreams and fulfill her purpose with a child! Right?
...Right!
----------------------------------------------------------
Hermione was clutching her books to her chest as she walked out into the court yard toward Professor Sprout's green house. Harry and Ron were in class when she had gone to Madame Pomfrey for her weekly checkup, and was directed to go pick up her monthly potion. So instead of waiting for them to get out of class, Hermione had stubbornly insisted that she could do it on her own.
And now she was seriously regretting it.
Her swollen ankles were aching and her back felt as if it was about to snap. Her head was swimming slightly when she turned the corner only to be greeted with the most glorious sight she had ever beheld - an empty bench. Her waddle became faster as her desperation grew. All she had to do was sit down and then everything would be alright...
Or so she thought.
No sooner had she lowered herself onto the stone bench did Pansy and Malfoy come waltzing around the corner hand in hand. The perfect picture of a pureblooded couple. Hermione would have barfed at the sight of it if she hadn't been so terrified at the moment.
Please don't talk to me, Please don't talk to me...!
"Granger! What a surprise to see you out of your room without your two bodyguards..."
Crap.
"Leave me alone Malfoy. I'm not in the mood."
Pansy giggled as she looked Hermione up and down. "Gaining a bit of weight, aren't we Mudblood?" She waved her finger from side to side, as if to scold. "Eating your way out of your good for nothing life will not make things better!"
"Thanks Parkinson. I'll remember that," Hermione said simply. Draco raised an eyebrow.
"What's your problem, Granger? Finally found your place in the wizarding world? Under our shoes?" Pansy snorted in laughter as Hermione sighed and began pushing herself up from the bench. She did not notice the strange look Malfoy gave her as she grunted and slowly stood up with a hand on her lower back.
"If that's all," said Hermione, "I think I'll be going now."
She turned her back to them and her brow lowered in concentration as she forced herself to walk as normally as she could. As soon as she was out of sight she collapsed onto the ground and sat cross legged on the grass. She knew that it was going to be very difficult to stand up from this position, but she just couldn't go on without resting. Her head fell into her hands as hot tears made their way down her cheeks.
That...That monster is the father of my child...
----------------------------------------------------------
Hermione was ever grateful to Madame Pomfrey for allowing her to use the secrete passageway to get around the castle. It was a Muggle elevator of sorts, though it not only went up and down, but were ever it was you wanted to go. All Hermione had to say was the place she wished to be and the little platform zoomed off with her safely on top. Hermione wasn't sure how she would have survived climbing all of those stairs around the castle.
As she entered through the portrait door Hermione began to feel the all too familiar feeling of nausea wash over her as she began to wobble slightly on her feet. She turned toward the staircase that led up to her room and cringed.
Oh please let me make it, oh please...
She dropped her bag on the floor as she took one step at a time up the stairs. When she reached the door she gagged slightly and threw a hand up over her mouth while her eyes widened in horror.
Oh NO! Just wait, almost there!
She pushed her door open, not bothering to close it behind her as she clambered in toward the toilet and fell to her knees and retched.
------------------------------------------------------------
Damn Granger to hell!
Draco had entered the common room after a long hard day of classes only to trip on Granger's stupid bag! He had hit the floor with his knees, rather ungraciously, before turning to take the rest of the fall on his side. Now his knees and shoulder were aching and it was all that MUDBLOOD'S fault!
Draco sighed while raising a hand to his face to message the bridge of his nose. Thank Merlin he'd only have to deal with her for one more week. What he really needed right now was a nice hot shower and a good nights rest.
Draco reached out for the door knob to the bathroom, but paused suddenly when he heard the retching noise from within. Granger was in there...and she was barfing!
Draco's face turned up into a nasty scowl of displeasure before turning and sitting on the edge of his bed. He'd have to wait for her then.
...Great.
Nearly 10 minutes later Draco was still sitting on his bed, his foot tapping the floor with impatience. The barfing noises had stopped but he heard no sound of Granger moving or flushing the toilet...and he'd die before flushing her filth for her. He growled in annoyance before pushing himself off of the bed and banging on the door.
"Granger! Do you plan on hogging the bathroom for the rest of the night?!" He heard a few sniffs from within.
"Go away Malfoy," came her muffled reply.
Draco felt his anger rise. "NO! This is my bathroom too and I have to use it! Now GET THE HELL OUT!" He heard her sob.
"Please, Malfoy...just leave me alone."
Draco's eyes widened for a moment before reaching his hand out to grab the door knob. "That's it. I'm coming in and I'm going to kick you out myself."
Draco turned the knob and was fully ready to walk in there and drag her out by her hair. We was going to yell at her and give her a piece of his mind...
What he did not expect to see was Granger curled up on the floor with her head between her knees as she cried.
She looked up at his with angry wet eyes. "I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE! JUST GET OUT!!" Draco took a step back from the anger in her voice, but quickly composed himself as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
"I had no Idea you took Pansy's opinions to heart."
Hermione wiped her nose. "What are you on about, Malfoy?"
"When she told you that you were fat," he smirked. "I had no idea that you'd go to this length..."
Hermione lowered her eyes to him. "I am not bulimic."
"Well it certainly looks that way..."
Hermione slowly pushed herself off of the floor with her hands over the toilet and took two steps toward him while pointing a finger in his face. "Listen here you poor excuse for a wizard! You know nothing of human suffering or loss! You think that you can come in here and tell me these things and just because my parents are muggles, I don't FEEL the pain that those words inflict!? You think that blood means so much? THEN WHY IS IT THAT I'M BETTER THAN YOU, MALFOY!? Do you have an answer to that, Mr. Pureblood!?"
Hermione was breathing hard as she took a step back from him. When he did not answer Hermione smirked and looked up into his eyes, only to see that he was not looking back into hers, but rather at her stomach....
Which no longer had the charm placed over it.
Draco's eyes widened as his scanned over her, and then looked back up at her with horror filled features. "W-What is that?" he said, pointing at her middle. Hermione felt her patience snap.
"THAT, MALFOY, IS YOUR BABY!"
Darco stubbled back toward the door. "No! That's a LIE!"
Hermione burst out in wild laughter. "You know that it's the truth Malfoy. I can see it in your face."
"You have no proof! NO PROOF, GRANGER!"
Hermione's laughter grew stronger. "And I suppose the fact that I've never been with anyone but you means nothing? Whatever. I don't even CARE!" Her laughter stopped. "This is MY child and I won't let you touch it! You won't need to worry about taking responsibility for your actions Malfoy, BECAUSE I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!" She began to sway as her mind clouded over.
The last thing Hermione saw before she hit the floor was Malfoy's eyes burning into her with some unknown emotion...
And then all was lost.

Whoa-ho-ho. What's Draco going to do? He's got the opportunity to just turn his back and walk away, but will he take it?
You'd better read on and find out!
