A/N: I used “Hold Me” by Savage Garden for this chapter I don't own it nor do I make money off of the song but it’s a great song and it’s one of my favorites! ENJOY!

Chapter 8: No Matter What

“You make me feel like I can do no wrong no matter what I do,” she answered just before Hermione’s lips touched hers. Mitch was surprised at first but then recovered once she felt Hermione’s soft lips she stopped thinking. For some reason Hermione has that effect on her and she didn’t know why nor did she want to. Mitch wrapped her arm around her waist and gently started to lean Hermione back against the couch. Hermione was loosing all self control she couldn’t think the only thing she knew is that she was falling fast and it scared her. She wasn’t sure if this was just a phase or something real, but as for right now she knew that she felt safe with this girl and that she would do anything for her. She found herself being pushed back gently against the couch and Mitch on top of her, she wrapped her arms around the other girl’s neck pulling her closer. Hermione laid back on the couch following Mitch’s lead, not breaking the kiss both couldn’t get enough of each other, and Mitch brushed her tongue against Hermione’s asking for entrance. Hermione smiled and gladly granted the American entrance she opened up a little bit more moaning as soon as she felt Mitch’s tongue brush hers.

They were so lost in each other that they didn’t see Ron and Harry walk in with Draco. The three boys caught the scene in the common room and felt really uncomfortable they knew they should give them some privacy but there was something that they had to tell the girls. Draco cleared his throat making their presence known and after a few seconds the girls stopped and looked up at the boys with red cheeks.

“Ladies, sorry to interrupt but we just came across something that you both need to know,” Draco said as the two were getting up from the couch still with red faces walked over to the three boys. Harry and Ron stood there with smirks on their faces and trying no to laugh at the fact that their know it all best friend just got caught snogging. They would tease her later but right now they had to warn her about a certain someone.

“What is it guys?” Mitch asked wondering what was so important they interrupted them. “Well this morning after you guys left this girl came over to us and started asking questions about Hermione,” Ron explained.

“Is she American and she has a buzz cut with bangs?” Mitch asked with her eyes closed.

“Yeah she is and yeah she does, do you know her?” Harry asked

“She’s my ex she followed me here to try and get me back but I broke up with her a long time ago she was moving to fast and last I heard she was with some one but what I still don’t get is what she’s doing here,” Mitch said with a sigh as she walked back over to the couch and sat down.

“Really? She was asking some many questions about Hermione and well we didn’t really answer them,” Ron told them as he sat down in one of the chairs.

“What kind of questions did she ask?” Hermione asked getting nervous.

“Just who are you and what are you doing with Mitch and if you have any weaknesses,” Harry told his best friend.

“And it gets better Jessie has asked for the help of Pansy to try and win you back Mitch, so if I were you two I’d be careful about what I drink and eat because more than likely there will be a potion. There is a spell you can you to detect a potion in what you’re consuming,” Draco told them as they stood next to the fire place. Mitch was silent and didn’t know what to say, this is the lowest Jessie’s ever gotten. No doubt she told Pansy lies about them she knew more than likely Jessie will put a love potion in her food. She couldn’t believe that she was being stalked and she didn’t like it. Also Hermione is in just as much danger as she was, no matter what happens Mitch do whatever it takes to protect Hermione even if it means that she will pay the ultimate price. She didn’t care just as long as Hermione is safe and away from danger.

Hermione couldn’t believe what she just heard the nerve of the girl going to Pansy for help is just sinking to the bottom of the lake. For the first time in her life she didn’t know what to do, she looked over at Mitch and just like earlier she was sitting there staring into the fire with a look of concentration on her face. All she wanted to do was go over to her and wrap her arms around her and protect for everything that has been causing her pain. But right now all they had to find a way to try and get Jessie to stop whatever she’s plotting with Pansy. There are a quit a few love potions out there the problem is which love potion with they use on her.

“So what do we do now?” Ron asked breaking the silence

“We keep a close eye on Pansy and Jessie, I can keep you updated on what they do since they are in Slytherin I can see or hear whatever they are planning and then we’ll go from there,” Draco told them he wanted to do anything possible to help his new friend. He stepped out of the shadow of his father and decided to become a Healer once he graduated. He didn’t want to be a twisted corrupt lawyer like his father. He wanted to help people he wanted to make something of his life, and this is a good way to start.

“Thanks, Draco I just don’t want anything to happen to any of you because of her if there’s one thing she’s good at it’s messing with your heads. Don’t ever believe a word she says and don’t give in to her no matter what,” Mitch told them as she got up from the couch and looked at everyone.

“It’s getting late I think we should all get some sleep,” Hermione suggested as she watch Mitch walk over to the window.

“We’ll see you in the morning,” Ron said and Harry said good night to everyone then they left. “If Jessie does anything to those two I swear I will hurt her in many more ways than one,” Ron said as they left. Harry nodded,

“There’s something Mitch isn’t telling us though I think Jessie is capable of killing someone but why do I get the feeling she already has,” they both walked back to their dorms thinking that if Jessie is capable of killing some one then they are in for more than they bargained for.

“Hermione, Ron and Harry are more that welcome to come and go as they please I gave them the password,” Draco told her with a small smile.

“Thank you Draco you’re such a big help I don’t know how to repay you,” Hermione said and glanced over at the window and she didn’t see Mitch anymore more than likely she was in her room.

“Don’t worry about it, just keeping everyone safe is payment enough I’ll see you in the morning, good night,” and with that Draco walked up the stairs to his room.

With a sigh Hermione walked up to Mitch’s room and heard music, she came to two conclusions either Mitch was playing music from her stereo or she’s playing a song. With a deep breath Hermione opened the door to Mitch’s room and saw her sitting in a chair next to her bed with playing her guitar and singing into a microphone that was attached to her laptop, she slowly walked in and closed the door softly she didn’t want to interrupt her session so she sat at a car next to the door and just listened and watch the other girl get lost in the music.

“Hey If we can't find a way out of these problems Then maybe we don't need this Standing face to face Enemies at war we build defenses And secret hiding places” Mitch started to play this song so she could have a set list for the Halloween Ball, this song meant a lot to her and right now it just felt right to play and record it onto her laptop.

“I might need you to hold me tonight I might need you to say it's alright I might need you to make the first stand Because tonight I'm finding it hard to be your man” Even she is a girl she writes and sings a lot of songs that say that she is a guy but she only does that when she performs it doesn’t matter what the song is about just as long as it has a strong message she’ll perform it. Even if it confuses a lot of people she’ll still perform it no matter what. Hermione sat there listening to the words and she knew that Mitch had a lot of secrets from her past that she wasn’t ready to tell but Hermione would wait until she was ready to.

“Hey More than angry words I hate this silence It's getting so loud Well I want to scream But bitterness has silenced these emotions It's getting hard to breathe so tell me isn't happiness Worth more than a golden diamond ring?” Mitch really got into this next verse it meant a lot to her, she does want to know if happiness is more than just material things and if being with some one is just enough.

“I'm willing to do anything To calm the storm in my heart I've never been the praying kind But lately I've been down upon my knees Not looking for a miracle Just a reason to believe” All she wants is something to believe in and she found some one that believes in her but why is she scared. The only thing that Mitch knew right at this moment is that she found that person she could spend the rest of her life with. The question is: Does Hermione want to spend the rest of her life with her?

“Do you remember not long ago? When we used to live for the nighttime Cherish each moment Now we don't live we exist We just run through our lives So alone That's why you've got to hold me” Hermione was just blown away she couldn’t help but smile at the talented girl that has stolen her heart. ‘Wait did she really steal my heart?’ she asked herself and couldn’t help but answer back with a smile and ‘Yes, she has,’ she couldn’t believe some one has actually stolen the heart of Hermione Jane Granger, and it was the best feeling in the world.

“Hey If we can't find a way out of these problems Then maybe we don't need this Standing face to face Enemies at war we build defenses And secret hiding places” Hermione knew in her heart that she could hold Mitch forever and that whatever Jessie brings nothing is going to tear them apart.

“I might need you to hold me tonight I might need you to say it's alright I might need you to make the first stand Because tonight I'm finding it hard to be your man” Mitch was finishing up the song after a few more notes and stopped feeling like there was some one in the room she turned around and saw Hermione.

“You heard that?” she asked with a sheepish smile. Hermione smiled and stood up just as Mitch was putting away everything, “Every word,” she said softly as she wrapped her arms around her. Mitch smiled and pulled her close, “Stay with me tonight,” she said softly.

“Thought you would never ask,” she answered with a small smile. They got into Mitch’s bed and just laid there in silence holding each then Mitch started to hum that tune again when they were down by the lake, Hermione smiled and lightly kissed Mitch’s forehead. After a few more moments the two drifted off to sleep not thinking of what tomorrow will bring.
