Wanting to avoid seeing Snape all together, Harry rose earlier than usual, dressed, and slipped from the dungeon quarters. With his ascension to the rank of House Master it was really pointless for him to continue at Hogwarts. He loved the school and in some ways it would always be home, but for the rest of eternity he was going to have to learn how to live in the vampire world. It was time to give up the human life he had once known and concentrate on moving forward into the next phase of his life.
With his senses heightened from his vampire blood, Harry stealthily moved through the halls, avoiding everyone on his path to the Headmaster’s office. As he walked Harry thought nostalgically about the times that he’d roamed the marbled corridors with Hermione and Ron. He wished that he could go back and change things and be with them again, but things wouldn’t change. Sighing, and saying silent goodbyes to his friends as he walked the corridors, Harry found himself swirling up the staircase to the Headmaster’s office.
“Professor McGonagall?” He questioned as he opened the office door and poked his head inside.
“Ah, Harry,” the elderly witch looked up from her desk, obviously surprised but pleased to see him, “do come in and have a seat please. What brings you up here at such an early hour?”
Harry took the seat in front of McGonagall’s desk, remembering the times he’d sat in that same position and looked across into a pair of periwinkle blue eyes. What would Dumbledore think if he could see him now?
“I’ve come to let you know that I’m leaving Hogwarts.” He could tell that Minerva was about to protest so he held up his hand, “I know that I only have a few months left anyway, but some things have taken a turn in the vampire world and I’m needed there. No matter who I was to the wizarding world, I’m no longer a student, Minerva,” he felt a little strange using her first name, “and I think that we can both agree that I haven’t been since I defeated Voldemort. It’s time for me to move forward.”
Minerva nodded her head slowly, “I understand Harry. I hope that with your place in the vampire world this means that we can keep a civil alliance between Hogwarts and the vampires. You can never use too many allies.”
Harry smiled as he stood, “Of course, Professor. Hogwarts will always be my home, I would never let anything harm this school.”

By the time Harry got back to the dungeons, Snape was nowhere to be seen, which meant that he’d probably already gone back to the Eternal House. With Chesek and Vincente’s deaths it meant that there was going to be a lot of order and structure needed to ensure that things ran smoothly. He was glad for the opportunity to gather this things together without having to think about what he would say to Snape if he ran into the man. Realistically, Harry knew that he’d have to talk to the Potions Master at some point as he was the House Alchemist.
Stuffing all of his things into his trusty school trunk, Harry shrank the trunk with a flick of his wand and placed it into the pocket of his robe. Looking around to make sure that he wasn’t forgetting anything, Harry said good bye to the quarters that had become his home for a short while.

The Eternal House was still packed full of vampires. Many of the creatures wanted to hang around to see what happened with the new House Council, and others were simply afraid of what was out there since Chesek and Vincente had not been the least of the vampires. Striding into the house, the hairs on the back of Harry’s neck rose as the main room came to a hush. All of the eyes in the room were on the new House Master as he walked through their midst and towards the long, winding hallway that led to the back of the house where the Council quarters were located.
After reaching the Council Common Room, Harry wasn’t sure where to go next, but luckily for him, his Assistant was waiting for him, “I thought you might need a guide, Potter.” It was Malfoy, as arrogant as ever.
“Well, I do need to know where my rooms are,” he cast an eye up and down the blonde, “and why do you look so happy?” He wanted to know, even as he began following Draco.
“I’d tell you, but I don’t think you want to know.” Malfoy replied with a smirk, obviously meaning that whatever he was so happy about had something to do with Remus Lupin.
Shaking his head, Harry glanced around at the elegant directions of the house as Draco led him through another door and into a small sitting area. The fireplace was quaint but elegant, and a set of stairs wrapped around the room and led to an upward loft. Looking up to the loft, Harry could see rows of books and other materials.
“This is your sitting room and study. Through that door,” he pointed, “is your bedroom. As House Master you are welcome to everything in the house. Although I would be careful, there is a lot of unrest in the House over you.”
“It’s a good thing I got use to that sort of treatment back in the wizarding world, hm?” Harry said dryly as he withdrew his trunk and expanded it back to normal size.
Malfoy studied Harry for a moment, “There’s something I need to ask you, as House Master.” He waited for a moment and then plunged ahead, “I know that the House is in unrest due to Fenrir Greyback and other lycan who are crossing our borders but…. I’d like to bring Remus here to live in my quarters. Now, he wouldn’t be able to leave the quarters and I certainly wouldn’t advertise that he was here…. We’re just tired of being apart.”
Harry looked up at Draco and studied the blonde’s face with its high cheekbones, and strong nose, “It’s fine by me, Draco, as long as you and Remus are both aware of how dangerous it is. If the vampires find out that you’re keeping a werewolf in your quarters they’ll mutiny. Our leadership in this House is already on thin ice.” He couldn’t deny Remus and Draco the opportunity to be happy, not when happiness seemed to be so rare in Remus’s life.
“Thanks, Potter. We’ll be careful.” Draco smiled and then excused himself, obviously in a hurry to get back and tell Remus the good news.
Harry sighed, wishing that he could be so hopeful. As it was, he was wondering what he was going to do at the end of the month when it would be time for him and Snape to exchange blood once more. He’d told Snape to find a new mate, but he hadn’t meant it. The words had been spoken in anger, and now he worried, however, that the Potions Master would take a new mate.
Reaching up, Harry fingered the crystal phial around his neck that held Severus Snape’s blood.

Snape’s eyes glittered a dangerous black as he walked through the House, on his way to the House Master’s quarters. He hadn’t managed to catch up with Harry at Hogwarts, but he was determined to talk to the man about their mating situation. He needed to know if Potter had really wanted him to find another mate. What if Potter already had someone else in mind? It frustrated Snape that he even cared about being Potter’s mate.
“I hear there’s trouble in paradise.” The voice could only belong to one person.
Lucien Vontae.
Snape whirled around, “What are you doing in the Council Common Room?” He glared.
“I knew you’d come through here. Word around the house is that our dear Master Potter, has found a new mate.” Lucien smirked, crossing his arms over his chest.
If it were possible, Snape became even more pale, his lips a thin line, “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” He spat.
“Don’t I?” Lucien raised an eyebrow.
Snape could barely think straight, pushing past Lucien, he stormed off in the direction of Harry’s quarters. He wanted to hear straight from the man’s mouth whether or not he had already found someone else. When he burst through the door to Harry’s room it was to find Harry and Remus seated on the floor in front of the fireplace, a game of wizard’s chess set out between them.
“What’s he doing here?” Snape demanded.
Potter looked up, his eyebrows arched in surprise as he stood, “What do you mean? What are you doing here?”
“Lucien said…” Snape trailed off, even as it hit him that he’d been duped.
Harry actually sneered, something that Snape had rarely seen him do, “Talking to Lucien, I see. I shouldn’t have expected less. Get out, Alchemist.”
His lips a thin line, his fists clenched, Severus backed up a step and then turned and strode out of the room. Whether or not Lucien had been trying to get Severus back, or simply ruin anything that Severus and Harry had, he had certainly succeeded.
