“No the knife slipped and I cut myself.”

“Severus we need you potions kit.” He called leading me to the sink, “Let me see it.”

“Go right ahead as long as I don’t. I want to be oblivious to how bad it is makes it not hurt as much then.” I said taking my other hand away. Severus and Remus came running in and up to my side.

“What happened? Mandy are you ok?” They said together.

“I’m fine just cut myself I’ll just wash it out and put a bandage on it nothing to bad. Note to self don’t use a knife when you are not focused on your work.”

“Nonsense here.” Severus said taking out a paste as Lucius rinsed of my hand so they could see the cut. My head was turned to look at Remus or the wall. I felt Severus rub something over the cut.

“Mandy you can look.” Lucius said I looked down to see a thin line where the cut was before it slowly disappeared.

“Wow that handy I need to get some of that. That’s cool what other tricks to you have in that bag?”

“Everything I could possible need while I am here. Are you ok?”

“Yeah I’m fine now.” I said.

Remus took my hand turning me around “You need to be more careful I don’t like seeing you hurt.” I pulled it up to his lips kissing it. I froze as I felt his lips on my hand. I opened my fingers looking at him in shock when he turn my hand and kissed my palm.

“Thank you.” I whispered not taking my eyes off of him. He let go of my hand as it dropped to my side. I shook my head and moved back to the carrots.

“Maybe you shouldn’t use the knife.” Remus said.

“I’m fine just wasn’t watching what I was doing. I learned my lesson we have to get this meal done.” I said finishing the last of the carrots. “What next?”

“Set those aside and we can start on the rice pilaf.”

“Yumm my favorite. I’ll make the rice and pasta is said getting one of the pots with a lid out and a measuring cup. “How much pasta do we need there is six of us.”

“Do 1 cup pasta and 1 ½ cups rice that should do it.” I nodded.

Remus began to cut the onion and garlic while the pasta was cooking. The trout was taken out of the frig.

“Are you going to grill it over the fire?”

“Yes Severus was going to go it he has the fire set up already.” I moved into the main cabin to see a gill crate over the fire in the fireplace.

“I didn’t know they had that.”

“They don’t I made it.” Severus said putting the fish on the grill. I went back to the kitchen to stirred the pasta.

“Remus are you almost done with the onions and garlic?” I asked a bit later

“I will be in a bit.” He said I put the pasta and rice in a skillet and began to stir. Remus came over just as it began to brown slightly and mixed in the onions and garlic. The broth was added soon after and the cabin began to smell of food cooking one of my favorite parts of making dinner. I smiled breathing in deeply as Remus came up behind me.

“It smells wonderful.” I said leaning into him taking another deep breath. This time his unique smell was mixed in. I pulled away from the intoxicating sent before I could kiss him and ruin any friendship that we had. We then pulled out the vegetables and began to grill them over the stove with a bunch of spices and some lemon juice. The air was full with the delicious smell of spice from the fish and veggies it made my stomach growl.

“It all smells so good.” I said “Now it’s time for the salad.”

“I have already started that,” I heard Lucius say behind me I turned to see both Severus and Lucius cutting the vegetables.”

“Then are you doing the cookies and sherbet?” I asked Remus.

“Yes I can start the cookies come and watch I’ll do it on the table outside it’s a bit crowded in here. We should get the fish off the fire it should be done by now. What time is it?”

“About 5:45.”

“Great we are on time, the rice is done, fish and salad almost done vegetables are off the stove in a few minutes everything should be ready in 15 min.” we brought the stuff for the cookies out they were ready just as Severus made the sherbet. There was a knock on the door my parents were here with a pitcher of lemonade saying that Lucius wouldn’t let them cook anything for the meal.
