Despite Draco’s utter annoyance that Harry had been the first to figure out that he was pregnant, Draco did have to admit that it was sort of nice to have someone other than the teachers that knew. Not that Draco was planning on ‘talking’ about it or ‘getting help’ or any other ridiculous thing that Potter would most likely try. But it was a little bit less pressure.
And that was the only reason why a few days after the classroom incident; Draco was begrudgingly allowing Harry to speak with him alone in the library. He’d only been following half the day trying to get Draco’s attention after all. The Malfoy Heir was beginning to become embarrassed for the idiot hero. Not to mention the embarrassment he felt for himself. He didn’t want the whole school thinking that he was yet another pet project for the savior in training. “What is it, Potter?” he asked leaning back against the nearest bookshelf. This corner of the library was barren of people but Draco still kept his voice low. He had a feeling Harry wanted to ‘help’ with the baby or something. That wasn’t a conversation that he wanted to have where people could possibly overhear. Not by a long shot. “I found this in that classroom,” Harry said pulling a glass vial out of his pocket. “After you were attacked. I don’t know what was in it but I… sorta can’t go to Snape with it…”Draco snorted some. “Afraid of Severus are you?”“No!” Harry snapped instantly. “I just… I can’t come up with a reason why I’d have it,” he admitted in a more controlled tone. “I’m not so good with coming up with cover stories.”“Yes, I’ve noticed. But I can tell you what was in it quite easily. So you don’t have to go to big bad Snape to figure it out,” Draco replied, glancing at the empty vial.Harry blinked some. “So, uh, what was in it?” he asked awkwardly.Draco sighed some and shook his head. “Ever heard of the Pegeris Potion?” he asked, though he didn’t wait for an actual answer. “It’s a potion-”“Snape assigned it while you were out,” Harry interrupted.Draco blinked in surprise both at being interrupted and that Snape would have his students try to make something like that. Slowly his surprise faded and he smirked. “Is that so? Clever Snape… I should have realized. There’s really no point in you taking that to Snape. We already know that potion was what was used on me,” Draco told Harry. “I couldn’t be pregnant right now if he hadn’t made me drink that. And I do vaguely remember that part at least.”“O-oh, so I really didn’t help at all,” Harry said with a frown.Draco sighed some and, though he blamed his fluctuating hormones for it, felt rather bad for deflating Potter. At least on this occasion. He had been trying to help. Whether it was misguided or not Draco did recognize that much. “Well, I guess, Snape could still find out something about it. Maybe there’s something about the vial that’s special,” Draco offered. “I guess I could take it to Snape and see what he thinks.”Harry eyed Draco warily. “Are you just saying that to make me feel better?”Draco snorted. “Of course not. This is me we’re talking about. Not one of your little Gryffin-dumb friends.”“What do you have against Gryffindors anyway?”Draco gave Harry a very dry look. “Other than the fact that you’re all show boaters and attention hogs without the common sense Merlin gave a slug?” Draco asked rhetorically. “Nothing. Nothing at all.”“At least you can trust a Gryffindor,” Harry muttered.A pale eyebrow shot upwards. “Really? There’s never in the history of the house been any single person that’s ever been untrustworthy in the slightest?” Draco asked in disbelief. Harry blushed a bright red, vividly recalling several instances where that wasn’t true in the slightest. Hell, Wormtail had been in Gryffindor and he was the biggest traitor Harry had ever met. “Thought not. Don’t generalize.”“Didn’t you just generalize about us before that?” Harry asked in annoyance.“That’s different. Those are traits that even that stupid hat says you have,” Draco drawled in reply.Harry scowled. “Pretty sure it didn’t say anything remotely like that about us ever.”“Learn to read between the lines, Potter,” Draco said dismissively.Harry sighed heavily and shook his head. “You are such a brat.” Though instead of the harsh snap back he’d expected from the blonde, Draco just smirked at that. As if he was rather proud at being called a brat. “What?”“You just gave up a fight against me, Potter,” Draco said, his smirk growing.Harry stared for a moment before managing to close his mouth with a snap. “I did not!”“Yes, you did. You let me win,” Draco said in what Harry was almost willing to call a teasing tone of voice. “You might have called me a brat but you didn’t mean it. Don’t even try to say that you did. You gave up the fight.”“Are you really that happy to beat me in a stupid argument?” the black haired teen asked.Draco leaned a bit closer to the other boy. “Oh, insanely. Now, I should go. If Crabbe and Goyle have to try and read for too long their heads might explode,” Draco said pushing off against the bookshelf. He started making his way back towards the main area of the library. Suddenly, Harry called out his name and grabbed his hand. He paused and turned back, rather surprised at the sudden contact.Harry opened his mouth like he was about to say something but whatever it was apparently got lost somewhere between his head and mouth. He stared for a moment and Draco couldn’t quite stop the blush from rising on his cheeks. Why was he staring at him like that? It was creepy. “What, Potter?” he demanded.Harry blinked several times. “Oh, uh… the vial,” he said holding the glass vial up with the hand that wasn’t holding Draco’s. Were the Slytherin’s hands always that soft and warm? And Harry couldn’t recall Draco’s skin ever doing that odd shimmery effect that the light seemed to be doing over his skin now. Maybe it was the angle? Whatever it was it was more than a little entrancing. Merlin. Draco actually looked really really good. Had his eyes always been that gorgeous shade of blue-grey?Draco reached out and took the vial from Harry. Why was Harry still staring at him like that? “You can let go now,” Draco said, giving his captured hand a slight tug.“Wha?” Harry asked dumbly.“My hand. You can let go,” Draco repeated more firmly.Harry blinked a few times and looked down at where he was holding Draco’s hand. It took a moment to register but then he quickly dropped the Malfoy heir’s hand as a hot blush worked its way up his neck to his ears. “Right, uh, sorry,” he said though he couldn’t quite help glancing at the blonde again. He really did look amazing and Harry had the sudden urge to not let Draco leave.Draco just stared at him for a moment before nodding and turning back around. Harry forced himself to not reach for the other teen again by shoving his hands in his pockets. How utterly weird that had been. Harry had absolutely no idea where it had come from. Not in the slightest.Draco was slightly unsettled from the look that Harry had been giving him. It wasn’t the look that he would normally have gotten from the savior, not even with their newfound truce. It was like he’d been utterly bewitched. Draco paused mid-step at that and cursed mentally. He put a hand to his stomach before shaking his head and continuing to where he’d left his friends. He had to get a handle on that before he accidentally bewitched Potter again. Or more permanently. He would never live something like that down. Not to mention he wouldn’t feel right doing it. Not even to someone like Potter. Especially to someone like Potter. The Gryffindor would probably move onto a new pet project at some point. Bewitching him would cause so many problems. Problems Draco didn’t want to deal with. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
