Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter and I make no money from writing this story. All orignal characters are my own creations. |
Ok, first I want to apologize for the really long wait this time around. What happened was that I had been using a friend as a sounding board for my ideas for this story and it turned out to be a bad idea. While listening to his advice I could tell that he didn't like how I was having Harry act, but I looked passed it in the hopes that his other advice would be helpful but more and more I felt that he was trying to get me to write the story how he would have writen it and soon it was becoming harder and harder to write my ideas. Eventually it came to a head when he flat out told me one of my ideas was stupid and not to use it. I stopped talking about the story to him after that but I had lost sight of where I had wanted to go with the story and my muse had taken an unapproved vacation. So I set the story aside for a while in the hopes of getting the flow of it back. This is my attempt at getting back into it. It may seem a little rough, but I hope you can look past that and keep reading.
Chapter EightThough he did his best to get more sleep, Harry woke up two hours later and knew that he would get no more rest that night. A glance at the window showed that, though sunrise was on its way it was still nothing more then the slightest lightening of the darkness. Harry looked over to see the puppies fast asleep in one of the dog beds he had bought for them. He grinned when he realized that his delicate little alpha female had managed to push the little male to the very edge of the bed and claim most of it for herself. It was easy to see who was going to be the boss in that relationship. Deciding that they were fine where they were Harry turned to check on the egg nestled in the covers beside him. He ran his hand over the egg and received a warm pulse of magic in return, the egg was content where it was. After giving it a moment of thought Harry waved his hand over the candle on the bedside table to active the self-lighting spell and slid out of under the covers to stand by the bed. Harry quickly circled the room to gather a few extra candles and his bag off the end of the bed before climbing back onto the bed. He lit the candles and placed them around to give him enough light to read by without hurting his eyes, true his eyes were fixed now but that didn't mean that he could take them for granted. With the light at the level he wanted he pulled out the account folders, the intro to fae traditions book, and the last journal his mother had written. The books were placed to the side as he turned to the Black account folder which he knew would only take a quick look through at the moment as there was little chance of anyone meddling with them. Harry only glanced at the long list of numbers that told him just how much money he now had at his disposal, though the total made his eyes widen, and jumped to the part that held the information that he needed at the moment. The list of properties that came with the lordship were quite long and included not only the living residences but also businesses both muggle and magical, warehouses, and even undeveloped land. He set the list to the side and quickly ran through the rest of the information before closing the folder and setting it aside.
The Potter folder was a little thicker then the Black, but that was due to the numerous papers noting the withdrawals that happened monthly at Dumbledore's request. A quick look through showed that all the withdrawals were of the highest amount allowed by law on the same day every month, like clockwork. I guess he just couldn't wait to get to the money. Harry thought darkly before he forced his mind away from the topic of Dumbledore's thieving ways and back to the task at hand. He needed to decided on a place of residence for the next month before school started. The Potter's also had a list of properties which he studied thoroughly. He had already decided that his home would be one of the Potter residences and that he didn't want to have to travel long distances so all the houses, condos, villas, and small islands he now owned that were not in the country would be for weekend getaways and vacations for the moment. But he also knew that by taking the Lordships meant that he would have to socialize with the upper class so a place of some class and wealth was necessary as that is all some of them care about. So with that criteria Harry was able to narrow down the list to five properties which was trimmed down even more by the fact that Harry in no way wanted to live in a town or city. So in the end that left him with just two options, a cabin built in the middle of a large wooded lot, or Potter Manor, the ancestral home of the Potters.
Digging through the papers in the files Harry found the blueprints to the two properties and spread them out side by side on the bed. They were simple line drawings with little to no detail to show Harry what they truly looked like. Sighing Harry dug through the pile of parchment once more to see if there was a written description for the properties, but didn't find one. What he did find however was a sticky note, yes a muggle sticky note. A pink muggle sticky note. Shaking his head and chuckling quietly at the thought of his Goblin account manager using pink sticky notes Harry quickly read over the simple instruction written on it on how to use the Lordship ring as a portkey to any and all residences and some of the magical businesses owned by the Potter family. Turning back to the blueprints Harry decided that the Potter Manor would be the one, though he would look at them both later that day with Remus just the same as the cabin really stood out to him.
Setting back and stretching Harry glanced at the clock and then out the window before deciding that only around half a hour had passed. Harry quickly sorted the papers back into close to the original order and placed them back in the bag before grabbing the standard quill and parchment that all the Leaky Cauldron rooms came stocked with and set to work. He decided that he needed a to-do list for today, this week, and this month, before school started, as well as a shopping list. He lost track of time as he worked and soon he had so many lists he had to make a list for his lists and as he realized what he was doing he froze before letting his head fall backward to hit the headboard. “Oh goddess save me I'm turning into Hermione!” Deciding that he had had enough of lists for a while Harry sorted them into order and set them aside to go over with Remus later before pulling out Fae traditions for Idiots and beginners and settling down to read. As much as he wanted to jump into his mother's journal he knew that getting started on the basics in his new religion/life path was necessary as Dumbledore and the Order would not sit idly by and let him have things his way.
The first chapter of the book drove home just how much different being a fae will be to a everyday wizard and had him diving for another piece of parchment to begin yet another two lists. One was of new rules that applied to his life and the other was for actions that needed to be taken to allow him to adjust to his new life. One of the most worrying passages stated that he could not buy any item used in any potion, ritual, or spiritual practice that came from a living creature or plant, that he had to collect or harvest each item himself or be gifted them from a member of the fae who themselves have harvested it. It was to insure that all due respect was given to the one that the ingredient came from, especially when harvesting killed the creature. No death was to be taken lightly, nothing was to go to wast. This was followed by a list of licenses that he would need to be able to do his own collecting and harvesting, it even went into the fact that if he could it would be ideal to get a breeder's license so that he could raise some of the magical creatures some of the more common and often used ingredients came from. It made him think of all the ingredients that were used in his potions classes over the years and how he never even thought about how they were harvested and what happened to the rest of those who were killed for their parts. Were the rest of them just thrown away like garbage? Harry sighed and continued reading.
The sun was truly up and shining through the window when a tentative knock on the door drew Harry from his reading. Looking up Harry called out that the door was open and to come on in. The door creaked open and Remus poked his head inside to look around for his pup. Seeing him up and reading the older man stepped into the room and walked over to him. “Have you eaten breakfast yet? I was planning to head down to see if we can grab one of the private dining areas again if you want to join me.”
Harry used a spare piece of parchment to mark his page before closing the book and sliding it back into the bag before grinning at Remus. “I'm starving, but I should take the pups out to relieve themselves before we eat. So why don't you go ahead and get us the room and I'll take care of them then join you.”
Remus nodded and headed out the door to allow Harry to collect the pups and get their needs seen to. The puppies sat up yawning and stretching before stumbling out of their bed. Leaving them to wake up Harry changed back into the outfit he bought the day before and packed up the puppy supplies and the egg, making sure not to leave anything of his in the room. Harry planned to take up residence in Potter Manor by the end of the day.
“Come on you two, we'll head out so that you two can use the restroom outside. You did well not to go inside last night.” He spoke to them softly as he opened the door and led them out into the hallway and toward the stairs.
“Of course we didn't go inside! We know not to dirty the den, we aren't babies!” The little female's voice was full of indignation at the very thought that young hounds of their age would do such things. Daray took pity on their new bonded and merely nodded along. Harry, feeling properly chastised for thinking so poorly of his hounds, remained silent for the rest of the trip outside and only blinked when their mess disappeared before he could clean it up, apparently Diagon Alley was charmed to keep itself clean. Harry led the way back inside and joined Remus in the same dining room as last night.
“Have you ordered yet?” Harry asked Remus as he sat down across from his friend. Remus shook his head and they sat in silence for a few moments until Tom came bustling in with a pitcher of juice and a carafe of coffee to take their orders. After a brief discussion they settled on a family style meal of bacon, sausage, eggs, hash-browns, and toast. When it arrived it looked like they had ordered to much food for two people but between a mostly starved, still growing boy and an adult werewolf it was just right to give them a good start to the day.
They ate in silence until the edge had been taken off their hunger before Remus spoke, “So Harry what do you have planned for today?”
“Well this afternoon I'm going to go around to pick up what's done on my clothes orders and do a bit more shopping. But this morning I need to go back to the Dursleys and get the stuff I left there and collect Hedwig. I also wish to stop in and speak to my friend that helped me, she will want to know how things went. Most importantly though I need to get in touch with the Ministry's licensing department and see what I have to do to get licensed to collect and harvest my own potion ingredients.” Harry paused to take a bite of his breakfast before continuing. “Oh, I have also looked over my properties had have decided that, based on location and other necessary criteria, Potter Manor would be the best possible choice for living arrangements. I plan to open it and we can stay there starting tonight, so make sure you don't leave anything in your room.”
Remus had stopped eating and was staring at Harry. “Necessary criteria?”
Harry groaned. “I know! I'm turning into Hermione! This morning I found myself making a list for my lists!”
That was all it took for the older man to burst into laughter, much to the annoyance of his younger companion. Catching the look on Harry's face he did his best to stifle the laughter and after a few moments was successful. After taking a drink and gather his composure Remus reached into his pocket and pulled out a folded piece of parchment and handed it to Harry. “Here is the list of books that I think will be useful in preparation for your first Wizengamot meeting. As well as a few for learning to both be a Lord and running a house hold. Most of them are pretty common so we shouldn't have any trouble finding them.”
Harry nodded as he looked over the list thinking that a trip to his vaults would be a good idea before they hit the bookstore if these books are as common as Remus believes. Then feeling the need to be mischievous Harry waited until his friend was taking a drink before asking in an innocent voice, “Do you think I should add this list to my list of lists?”
That was all it took to set the older man off causing him to spray his coffee all over the place. To give Remus time to settle down he grinned and went to pay for the meal, only to find out that the wily wolf had beat him to the bill by paying in advance. Oh well, there would be other chances to spoil the older man. Getting back to the dining room Harry was treated to the sight of Saoirse trying to scold Remus for dirtying the den. But Remus despite being a werewolf could not speak Hound and was just staring at her in bemusement.
“Saoirse he didn't mean to so calm down.” The little female gave the werewolf one last glare before walking over to her bonded.
Remus raised an eyebrow before asking, “What was that about?”
Harry snorted, “That was you getting the backlash from an apparently stupid comment I made to them earlier. I praised them for not using the bathroom in the room and was viciously informed that Hounds of their age did not dirty the den. Saoirse was just informing you that you were old enough to know better then to spit all over the den. I hate to say this Remus but I do believe that she is ashamed of you.”
Remus chuckled, “Oh hell, how ever will I live with myself?”
Harry nodded, “Exactly. I think you are down to ritual suicide as the only way to regain your honor and pride.”
Remus just shook his head and led the way out of the Leaky Cauldron with Harry and the pups following. In the back next to the gate Remus offered Harry his arm, “Since you have yet to learn to apparate yet you can ride with me. You hold one of the pups and hand me the other then grab on to me and hold tight.” Harry nodded and did what he was told, then they were gone with a crack of displaced air.
A few seconds, and a really uncomfortable feeling, later they were standing at the gate to number four Privet Drive having scared the life out of one Nymphadora Tonks. Nymphadora, or Tonks as she likes to be called, had come on guard duty that morning and as far as she knew Harry Potter was suppose to have been inside the house, not off gallivanting around with Remus Lupin. She watched as the two men placed the pups they were carrying on the ground and headed up to the door. A quick alohomora to open the door and in they went. Pulling herself together Tonks rushed inside after them.
Harry led Remus up the stairs into his room where the older man made short work of the packing with a wave of his wand that had Harry's belongings jumping into the trunk in a orderly manner. After which Harry took a moment to remove all Dudley's old clothes as he wouldn't be needing them any more. That done he shut the trunk and Remus shrunk it and Hedwig's cage down to pocket size so they could be stored away in Harry's bag. One last check around the room and they were ready to leave, except for the pink haired witch standing in the door way with her wand trained on them.
Harry was the first to speak. “Hey Tonks, hows it going?”
“What the hell is going on here? How did you get out of the house without the guard seeing you? Where do you think you are going and does Dumbledore know you've been out and about?” The questions were shot off in a no nonsense, if a bit high pitched, voice in rapid succession that left them no time to answer.
“Nymphadora if you would only give us a moment we will answer your question.” Remus cut in when she had to pause to take a breath.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that!” she snarled back at him, but refrained from continuing the questions so that they would have time to answer her.
“We are here Tonks to collect my things as I am leaving and not coming back. You guys didn't know I left because I sneaked out the back door under a notice me not spell the day before yesterday and haven't been back sense. Which means that some of you people are really bad at your job, but that is not the issue right now. Now as to what Dumbledore knows, he knows that I am not here and haven't been for a couple of days, he knows that I am not happy with him and want nothing to do with him, and I hope he knows that I will no longer be his puppet. Other then that I don't give a damn what the meddlesome old coot knows, I have broken away from him and am now my own man, recognized by law as an adult and completely out of his control.” Harry huffed and folded his arms.
Tonks eyed the young wizard up and down for a moment, her training as an Auror leading her to notice multiple things about him in just a few moments. She cataloged the multiple changes that had taken place in the young man since the last time she had seen him. He was taller, broader, and much healthier looking with a sun-kissed glow to his skin and a brightness to his eyes that hadn't been there at the end of the school year. His hair had grown even more unruly and almost looked like a mane, one that failed to hide the delicately pointed ears that she could see nestled amongst the green-black locks. The most telling was the confident set to his shoulders and the no nonsense look in his eyes. But the most important addition to Harry, at least for her at the moment, were the three lordship rings that adorned his right hand. One she assumed was the Potter ring and the second was unknown to her, but the third she knew and knew well. It had been on the letter she had gotten last night from Gringotts informing her of her reinstatement into the black family as well as the large deposit that was made into her vault. Before her stood a twice over lord and the head of her family.
She nodded toward his hand, “I suppose I have you to thank for my and my mother's reinstatement into the Black family.”
Harry blushed, but didn't look away from the woman in front of him. Beside him Remus jerked around to stare wide eyed at the younger male. “What? Harry you returned them to they family?”
Harry nodded, “They should never been disowned in the first place, not over something so stupid. So she married for love instead of trying to marry for power, she was family and family should always come first.”
Tonks nodded before adding, “But that's not all, my mother and I have both been awarded with the money we would have gotten over the years as part of the family, and the interest it would have gathered if we had put it in the bank and not touched it for the years we didn't have it.”
Harry saw the way they were looking at him and it made him a little angry. “Don't look at me like that, it was what they should have had to begin with and it's not like I will ever be able to spend all the money in the Potter Vaults, much less make a dent in the Black's vault. Now we have what we came for so we need to get going. I need to stop in to see a friend of mine then a trip to the Ministry is necessary to get things rolling.” Harry paused for a moment before continuing. “Tonks what can you tell me about getting licensed to harvest and collect magical ingredients, and the owning and breeding magical creatures licenses?”
“That's right you mentioned that before but then you distracted me and I forgot to ask about it.” Remus looked from Tonks to Harry and back again curiosity peaked.
Harry sighed, “As a fae I am not allowed to buy any ingredient for potion, ritual, or religious ceremony that came from a living thing. I have to harvest them myself, or have them gifted to me by one of the fae, to make sure all due respect is given to the plant or creature that was harvested from, especially if the creature is killed for the ingredient. Nothing should be wasted, even if you can use the rest of the creature for nothing more then fodder for other living creatures. They died to give you what you needed, the least you could do is to make sure not to waste their sacrifice.”
Tonks was nodding, “Fae, that would do it. I suppose you got it from your mother then? Last I heard there wasn't any fae blood in the Potter line. The question is whether she was a changeling, a baby unknowingly switched with a human child, or did she knowingly take a place among a muggle family. Not that it really matters right at this moment.
But for the harvesting and gathering licenses it will be relatively easy as you passed the OWLs that are requisites with E's or better. Other then that you have to have a reason to want to get them, and that reason will determine the degree of the license you are allowed. There are three degrees to the license system. The first is for those looking to gather common, safe, easy to find ingredients for everyday use to cut back on costs. The second is for those like you who have to collect all their personal use ingredients because they can't buy for themselves. Then the third is for those people who gather ingredients for retail sale and need to gather in extremely large quantities.
Now the owning and breeding licenses are harder to get, though they also have the same three degrees and cover both magical creatures and plants. Those licenses have tests, regulations, and a whole set of rules that are just for them that you have to pass, meet, and follow to get even the first degree of them. You would have to go in and show them that you can work with the animal they provide and know both what is suppose to be harvested from them, how you harvest it, and that you can do the harvest without undue harm to the animal. Then they will have to see the area the creature would be kept to make sure it is a safe secure place for both the creature and the people who live close by. There are others that I can't think of right now but I'm sure you get the idea.”
Harry nodded as he listened to her explain, it sounded close to what he expected though he didn't think that the harvesting licenses would be so easy to get. “Well that should be okay, I will see about getting the first two and find out the requirements of the last two as I don't really think I will have the time before school starts to set up it all up. Now I need to get going.”
Harry nodded to Tonks and squeezed passed her and headed out of the house. Remus caught up to him at the gate and fell into step beside him. Harry quickly led the way down the block and into the neighborhood park and onto the forested area at the back. Remus tensed when they passed the line between the normal woods and Bree's domain. He could feel that there was something different about the area they were in, a sense of agelessness that filled the air. It called to his wolf and making his skin itch. Looking around the werewolf closed the distance between him and his cub, the movement drew Harry's attention.
“Remus, calm down. What you're feeling is the wild magic that Bree was able to trap in this location to protect her forest. It is one of the oldest areas untouched by the modern times.” Harry spoke soothingly to the older man. “If you are feeling antsy it is because wild magic is a primal force, one that is completely untamable.”
Remus nodded but could feel his control over the wolf slipping, it was just days until the full moon and he didn't know how much longer he could hold the beast back in such a place. “Harry maybe I should wait for you back on the play ground. I really don't feel comfortable here and I think it would be best if I waited else where.”
Harry opened his mouth to reply but was cut off by a female voice that spoke from the deep shadows under a clump of closely grouped trees. “The truth is you are not comfortable with yourself and since the wild magic calls to the wolf causing it to stir you do not feel that you can control yourself. Truthfully if you could accept your wolf and its needs the wild magic would not affect you so strongly. You do realize that if you want to stay close to your pup that you will be around wild magic almost nonstop, I can feel it radiating out from him in waves. He has been touched by the God and Goddess and they have blessed him.” She paused and gave a small laugh. “Or perhaps it is more of a curse.”
Harry and Remus both turned to face the the direction that the voice originated from and watched as Bree calmly walked out of the shadows and joined them. Harry grinned at her before moving forward and wrapping her in a hug. The Fae woman laughed but returned the embrace with as much feeling as it had been given. “Bree, I did it! I excepted my legacies and even as we speak I can already see the path set before me before is changing! I don't even know where to start in telling you all that happened! I did the ritual, which hurt like hell thank you very much, which sent out a call to those who would serve me or are bound to me and the Wild Hunt answered! Not only that these two beautiful and playful Hounds, a War-steed as black as pitch with glowing green eyes, and an egg that nearly cracked my skull that will be my familiar as well. Then after I left I faced off with Dumbledore and told him strait up that I wouldn't be his puppet any more!”
Bree laughed and grabbed him by the shoulders to stop his childlike bouncing that neither of them had seen from the young man before. “Harry calm down and lets set down and you can tell me all about it in a much slower and more organized way so that I can understand what you are talking about.”
Taking a deep breath he allowed himself to be pulled to her tree where the three of them settled down, while the pups ran off to explore amongst the trees and chase squirrels and other small animals. Remus had decided to force himself to deal with the situation because if what the woman said was true it was something that he would be experiencing often around his pup and he refused to allow a simple feeling to push him away from the boy. Looking at the both of them Harry made the introductions and then once again told the tale of what he had gone through at the bank.
Bree had tears in her eyes as he finished his story and fell silent. She sniffled and wiped at her eyes before speaking. “That is truly amazing. The Wild Hunt has not been seen in centuries. It had lasted longer then some of the wild magic creatures, but in the end even it was forced to retreat to the sanctuary below the bank. Though I don't think that you will be able to change its purpose, they are the a type of magical trial in which the evil doer comes before the Hunter and the hunt, but in reality it is the wild magic and the Goddess that judge them. The Hunt chases them over the course of a night and if they survive until first light they are deemed salvageable and for most who make it to dawn the experience is enough to get them to change their ways. But there are those that are so gone that their souls are as black as pitch and they will not make it to dawn because either they will not change their ways, or that there are souls crying out for justice. The Wild Hunt isn't as legends tell, it doesn't hunt any person that stumbles into its path, though it would some times chase liars and oath breakers to show them the path that they were heading down. No murderers, rapists, and child molesters are the ones who usually fall before the hunt and have their souls dragged down to the underworld.”
Harry nodded, but didn't seem convinced so she dropped the subject as there were other things they needed to talk about. “Unfortunately Harry I can not be your teacher, we are not the same and I wouldn't even know where to begin at finding out your gifts. But do not fret the Goddess would not have blessed you so if she wasn't planning on providing you with guidance. Now don't make that face, the Goddess isn't a control freak, in fact she very much encourages independence and individuality in her people.” Harry stopped in mid grimace and she smile before continuing. “She is like a mother who watches over her people and some times reaches out to tap them on the shoulder and say 'um do you really want to do that, because the cauldron will explode' or 'here saw you needed some help so I made it so that you would bump into this man who has the answers you are looking for'. She will not plan out your life, she will not dictate to you who you are suppose to be, and she will not turn against you if you make a mistake. So do not worry the one who will teach you will make themselves known to you soon.”
“I can see what you are saying and I think I like the idea of someone who is willing to look out for my best interests while not trying to control me like a puppet.” Harry glanced at his watch and saw that they had already been there a few hours. They needed to get going to the Ministry of magic to take care of the licensing, but he wanted to repay Bree for all she did to help him. If it wasn't for her he would have never known that there was another choice.
It was as he was contemplating what he could do to thank her that the spot where the moons power took up residence pulsed and two thoughts formed in his mind. The first was that the moons power was actually the Goddess and when the spot pulsed it was the Goddess reaching out to him, she thought that it would be best she told him now instead of letting him think later that it had been hidden from him.
The second was an idea on how he could thank the woodland Fae. Grinning at the idea Harry stood up and stepped up closer to Bree's tree and placed his hands on the trunk before focusing inward. He followed the guiding touch of the Goddess and made his way to his core where he found himself surrounded by the pulse and flow of his own magic and power. The magic shifted colors around him in a multitude of shades and hues that amazed him and tried to lull him into a trance like state, but with a gentle prod from the Goddess, Harry was able to focus back on why he was there. He reached out with his 'hands' and grabbed a portion of the magic and pulled it close where he began to whisper to it. He told it of his friend Bree and all she had done for him, and then he told it what he wanted to do for her in thanks. The magic he held pulsed and swirled with colors as he spoke until he fell silent and the magic glowed a solid brilliant green. Then holding tight to the magic Harry retraced his steps back into the outside world where only moments had passed. Once he was solidly back into his body he could feel the power he had pulled out with him thrumming through him, causing him to glow slightly, and he quickly pushed it out and released it into the tree beneath his hands.
The magic surged into the tree causing Bree to gasp and the tree to put out new growth before the magic raced down the tree and out into Bree's domain where every plant and animal felt it flow through them. As it passed it left those it touched feeling stronger and healthier then they could remember and on it raced until it reached the edge of the area of Wild Magic and then pushed that edge out farther. Farther and farther the Wild magic boundary was pushed and soon it had not only swallowed up the playground but a large chunk of Privet Drive, including number four, was now setting nicely inside the area in which Wild magic had full reign. Now Bree's Forest would have room to grow and expand, her forest would no longer be a fragment of forgotten history frozen in time in the hopes of salvation in the distant future. No it was now awake once more and as the levels of wild magic rose even higher it will eventually be able to expand again all on its own. But for now it would make use of the new space and influx of new raw wild magic he had given it to stretch its muscles and flex long dormant powers as it fully awaken to this new age.
Harry smiled as he pulled away from the tree and turned to Bree who was looking at him in wonder with tears running down her face. “I hope you don't mind the extra work my thanks has created as you have quite a bit of room to figure out what to do with. I only ask that you pay close attention to my loving Aunt and Uncle's house as it now falls inside your borders.”
Bree snorted before smiling an slightly evil smile. “Don't worry Harry there are a couple of Fae creatures who make my domain their home that I think would love to take up residence near your old Aunt and Uncle, hell they may even decide to play with your cousin.”
Harry laughed. “As much as I wish to see them suffer tell your friends to be careful, Dumbledore and the Order of shrieking chickens tend to keep a close eye on the place as they will most likely try to get me to return there and I wouldn't want any of your creatures to be harmed. Also if you see a young woman with the ability to change her appearance, she is under my protection as she is one of the two members of the Black family still alive that I like.”
“Don't worry Harry, any wizard that crosses into my domain will find that their magic will come to them only sluggishly if at all. They will not be a threat to any of my people.” Her smile turned soft as she stepped closer to the boy. “Your gift has brought great joy to my heart and put new purpose to my life, you will never know how this has affected me. I know the time has come for your to go as I am sure you have much to do still, but do make time to come back to see me and see how I have made use of this most wonderful gift.”
Harry nodded, “You can count on it Bree.”
Harry then turned to collect Remus, who had remained silent throughout the whole scene as he didn't know what was going on, and the pups, who had come running up when they felt their master's magic rush through the area they were playing in, and headed out of the forest. They stopped just inside the tree line so that Harry could call for Hedwig. The snowy owl arrived quickly carrying his cloak, but instead of landing on Harry's outstretched arm immediately the winged female did a couple of quick loops around her owner taking in his new look and the changes to his physical form before making an approving noise and finally landing on the arm provided. Harry raised an eyebrow as Remus snorted and coughed to hide his laughter at the obvious female approval the boy had just received from his mail owl. Harry did his best to ignore the older man as he took the invisibility cloak he didn't even remember leaving behind from the owl before telling her to fly on ahead to Potter Manor, but he knew he would be hearing about it for a while.
Sure enough as soon as the snowy owl had taken off and flown out of sight the older man asked innocently how long Harry and his owl had had such a 'special' relationship. Harry sighed , rolled his eyes and decided that ignoring the comments was most likely the fastest way to get them to stop so instead of giving the old prankster the satisfaction of a response he started walking away. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error. The AFF system includes a rigorous and complex abuse control system in order to prevent improper use of the AFF service, and we hope that its deployment indicates a good-faith effort to eliminate any illegal material on the site in a fair and unbiased manner. This abuse control system is run in accordance with the strict guidelines specified above.
