"Do you have everything you need Rose?" Astoria asked as she sat across from the girl at the table, sipping at her tea.
"And more." Scorpius chimed in with a half smile.
"Hush." Astoria scolded him. "I'm not going to send her back to Hogwarts without the things she needs."
"I have everything. Thank you." Rose had gone shopping with Astoria the day after the Christmas party. The other woman had bought her seven new sets of Ravenclaw robes, new books, bags, quils, a trunk, and several other items which had be left at her parents' house following her fallout with Ron.
She was extremely grateful to the Malfoy's for sparing her the trouble of returning home to retrieve her things. It was however somewhat awkward when Astoria found her in the morning naked cuddled up next to her son. She had completely forgotten about the shopping trip. Astoria did not react negatively to the sight of the nude Weasley clinging to her Scorpius. Instead she awoke Rose with a smile and offered her a spare pair of robes.
"The east wing will be finished today." Scorpius said between bites of pastry. "We just have one room to go."
"Excellent!" Astoria exclaimed. "I think we will need the space." She added with a smile. Rose blushed.
"Probably." Scorpius agreed coolly. "I need to head over there, Father is waiting. See you both in a few hours." He kissed Astoria and Rose on the cheek and then left the room.
"You make him very happy." Astoria said putting her tea down on the saucer with a light clank. "He loves you a great deal.
Rose smiled warmly at her. "I love him too."
"But..." Astoria said looking at her questioningly.
"My family." Rose answered. Guilt swamped over. Astoria had done so much for her. Scorpius loved her without reserve. Now she was full on admitting that she could possibly betray them to return to her family.
"Family is important." The other woman replied. She was searching Rose's face, reading her expressions. "Your parents love you. Your father loves you." Astoria added with extra intent. "All any parent can do is love their child."
"I don't feel very loved." Rose admitted, absent mindedly rubbing her once broken wrist.
"He wanted to protect you. That is how he shows his love."
"He hurt me."
"He got carried away. I can imagine that he is very frightened for you." Astoria placed her own hand over Rose's wrist.
"I don't understand why! You are so nice to me. Scorpius is in love with me. Even Draco puts up with me." Rose exclaimed vehemently.
"The past can be a difficult thing to deal with." Astoria said sadly. "My husband made several wrong choices when he was your age. The witches and wizards we were at school with will not soon forget those choices. Draco refuses to forgive himself."
"My Uncle Harry told me the story. I know why Draco had to do all of those things." Rose said comfortingly.
"Yes, he had his reasons, but not everyone is as understanding as you are." Astoria gripped her hands together. "In the minds of most people, he is still a death eater."
"Not to me."
Astoria smiled at her once more. "You should try to make things right with your family. I doubt that they will ever accept you being with my son, but they will learn to respect your decision to do so."
Rose inhaled deeply. Astoria was right. She would not be able to avoid her family forever, she loved them too much, even her father. "I'll write to them once I get back to school."
"Good."
