True to his word, Charlie did not “release” Luna or Hermione until late Sunday night. Hermione wished the weekend was longer, she had such a good time, and she didn't want to leave. Luna also didn't want to leave, but she could not spend the entire week in bed with Charlie, well maybe she could.
When Hermione arrived at work Monday morning, she had a certain glow about her. Remus figured it out right away. It was one of the advantages of having werewolf senses.
“I take it you had a wonderful weekend.”
“Oh yes I did,” Hermione said with a dreamy smile as she remembered the wicked things that Charlie did to her body. An owl swooped in and deposited a letter in her lap, snapping her out of her daydream. It was from Snape. He scheduled a mandatory meeting with her in one hour. Hermione figured it was about the investigation on her missing paperwork.
Hermione put the meeting out of her mind, and she and Remus focused on looking through the notes and research one last time, just to make sure that there were no errors or something wasn't looked over. Hermione and Remus were both excited to start brewing the potion. Hermione just hoped that Mr. Snape would approve of her research and give them the approval they needed to start brewing.
An hour later, Hermione knocked on the Snape's door.
“Enter,” his deep voice boomed from the other side.
“Good morning, Mr. Snape,” Hermione said. Severus was sitting at his desk, looking over Hermione's weekly report. A hint of a smile formed on his lips.
“This could actually work,” Snape said in a slightly impressed voice. “You may have finally found the answer.”
Hermione scowled slightly. “I would not have submitted the request if I didn't think I found the answer.”
“Don't get cocky. You did very good work, but you have a long road of testing ahead of you. But, be proud, you might have solved the werewolf curse. Now, get back to work.”
“Thanks,” Hermione beamed, but she did not leave the office.
“Was there something else?” Severus asked in an annoyed voice.
“Has there been any new information about my missing paperwork?”
Severus shook his head. “No, but when there is a development, you will be the second person to know, after me. Now get back to work.”
“Thank you,” Hermione said as she left his office.
When she got back to her office, she told Remus that there were approved to start testing their theory. Remus was so proud of Hermione. Hermione owled Luna and Charlie with the good news about her and Remus' progress with the project.
After a very long day of prepping the first potion to test, Hermione went home exhausted. When she got home, Luna and Charlie surprised her with a wonderful home cooked meal. She smiled; it was very domestic of them.
“While you were at work, Luna and I came up with a brilliant idea,” Charlie said, as they were eating.
“Which is?” Hermione asked in wonder.
“Well, we thought maybe you would like to move in with me,” Luna said with hope in her eyes.
“You want me to move in with you?” Hermione asked wide-eyed.
“Yes, I have for a while. Why do you think I bought a three-bedroom house? If I wanted to live by myself I would have rented out a flat,” Luna said, giving Hermione a knowing look.
“Why didn't you say something sooner?” Hermione asked in disbelief.
Luna smiled. “Because it wasn't the right time yet.”
“I don't know what to say,” Hermione said confused. She had no idea what to do. Moving in was a huge step.
“Try, yes!” Luna exclaimed.
Hermione looked around her flat. It was small, but it suited her fine, but should she really take the leap and move in with Luna? She never lived with anyone before.
Charlie saw her hesitation. “What's wrong?”
“I don't know. I never lived with someone else before. I’m not sure I would be any good at it.”
“You never know until you try,” Charlie said.
“Please, be my housemate?” Luna asked with big blue puppy dog eyes.
Hermione looked around again; maybe moving would be good for her.
“You won't be too far from my cottage, we could have many warm nights together,” Charlie added.
Hermione laughed, “Well, the weather is getting colder, and this place is always drafty in the winter.”
“I have a nice cozy fireplace and a big comfy couch to cuddle on,” Luna said seductively.
Charlie smiled and leaned closer to Luna and nuzzled her neck. “I like the sound of that.”
“Hey, she asked me to move in, not you,” Hermione said playfully.
“I think I will be making several visits to your cozy little love nest,” Charlie purred.
“Oh aren't you cute,” Hermione said, leaning over and giving Charlie a kiss. “Who said you would be invited?”
“So will you, Hermione?” Luna pleaded.
Hermione thought about it, “Yes, but I am going to keep this place for a little bit, just in case it doesn't work out. I’m not the easiest person to live with.”
Luna shook her head in agreement. Trust Hermione to do the rational thing. “Okay, whatever you like.”
Luna and Charlie exchanged secret smiles; they would make sure it worked out.
“I guess I could start moving things in this weekend,” Hermione said, looking around again.
“We'll help,” Luna said with a smile.
“Definitely, might even have a little sleepover,” Charlie said with a wink.

Six months later:
“I have no idea what Severus wants, but I better get up there,” Hermione said nervously. She and Remus had been working very hard the last few several months on the new potion. It was in its final testing stages and it would soon be ready to be tested on Remus, hopefully at the next full moon. They were in the middle of brewing one of the final potions now.
“You better go; I will keep an eye on the potion and add the next step for you, if you are not back in time.” Remus reassured her.
Hermione rushed up to Severus' office and knocked on the door,
“Hermione, sorry to pull you away from your work, but there has been a development, concerning Robert Durdrum,” Severus said as an owl swooped in and deposited a letter on his desk.
“What sort of development?” Hermione asked, taking a seat.
“Apparently, Robert and Malcolm were admitted to St. Mungo’s after an explosion.”
“Are they okay?” Hermione asked concerned. She might not have liked them, but she didn't wish them dead.
“They have minor burns; they will recover. Robert's house, on the other hand, was destroyed. They were lucky, it could have been a lot worse.”
“What sort of potion were they brewing?” Hermione asked, although she was pretty sure she knew the answer.
“Apparently, a very crude version of the one that you are brewing,” Severus said in a matter of fact voice.
Hermione's heart sank, she didn't want to believe that they would actually try to steal her research and brew the potion themselves.
“They wouldn't have got away with it, even if they succeeded in brewing the potion,” Severus said. “Most everyone who works at the Ministry knows that you and Remus are working on this potion. There would have been no way for them to register the potion with us, or with any other legitimate potion company. The Ministry and I contacted them all, at the beginning of the investigation. If anyone tried to register a potion to treat werewolves, the Ministry would have been contacted right away,” Severus explained. “It's over though, and your potion is safe.”
“Wow, I never thought anyone would try and steal a potion, especially one that is still in such an early stage.”
“People do stupid things when they are desperate enough,” Severus said.
“Apparently,” Hermione sighed.
“It's over now. So go and finish brewing your potion. I believe that it is almost time to add the next ingredient,” Severus said.
“Thank you, sir,” Hermione said, getting up.
“How are your living arrangements?” Severus asked before she opened the door.
Hermione looked back and gave Severus a questionable look. “Fine, why?”
“You three are the talk around the Ministry.”
“Really? Don't people have lives of their own to worry about?”
“You have to admit it is a bit unconventional. Of course, you never were a conventional women. Neither is Luna.”
“You're right, we’re not. I just sold my flat and will be permanently moving in with Luna, although I hadn't slept in my flat in almost six months,” Hermione smiled.
“I figured that would happen. Alright that is enough socializing, back to work,” Severus said, dismissing her.
“Good day, sir,” Hermione said in a slight sarcastic voice. Severus smiled at her, after she closed the door.

Halloween
“Are you sure this looks right?” Luna asked Hermione as she adjusted her mask.
“Yes, you look hot! I love how that dress enhances your cleavage,” Hermione purred.
This year’s Halloween Masquerade Ball theme was the Renaissance. Hermione couldn't wait to see how Lady Malfoy decorated the manor.
There was a knock on the bedroom door. “Are you two ready yet? The carriage has arrived,” Charlie asked. “Wow!” he exclaimed as he opened the door.
Luna was wearing a red ball gown, with a corset top. Her mask was also red with black roses on the side. Charlie's tongue rolled out of his mouth.
“Doesn't she look delicious,” Hermione said, who was wearing a similar dress, except it dark green.
“So do you,” Charlie said, looking at Hermione. “I think we should stay home and have our own little party.
“You do look delectable in your knight costume, but we really should put in an appearance, especially since Draco is expecting us,” Hermione said as she headed towards the door, looking at herself in the mirror one last time.
They arrived at the ball, and were handed a flier at the door.
“Oh look, they are having another charity date auction,” Luna said with a smile.
“Oh no you don't!” Charlie said. “Your days of bidding on dates are over with,” Charlie said with a smile as he gave Luna and Hermione a kiss. “Why don't we check out the silent auction table over there?”
“It's about time you three showed up, we were wondering if you were ever going to get here,” Draco said as the three of them looked at the auction table.
“My family and I had a bet going about you three,” Draco teased.
“What sort of bet?” Hermione asked, a bit annoyed.
“Oh never you three mind, all I know is I will be collecting some galleons from my father.” Draco gave them a bright smile before leaving them.
“I'm not sure I like the idea of people betting on us,” Luna said annoyed.
“How is that different from you two with your guessing game about who is present here at the balls,” Charlie said.
“That's different,” Hermione said determined.
“How?” Charlie questioned.
“Because we never bet actual money, that would have cheapened the game,” Luna said with a laugh. “Ooh look a trip to New Zealand!”
Hermione laughed Luna did have a way of distracting from the subject at hand.
“Besides I doubt we are going to be playing that game anymore,” Hermione said. “I think we will just enjoy the evening.”
“Good, I know a lot of people here will be relieved to hear that,” Charlie said with a laugh.
“Really, like who?” Luna asked bright eyed.
Hermione laughed as she placed a bid of the trip to New Zealand. “It might take us a while to let the old habit die.”
“I think I will be able to distract you,” Charlie said with a sly smile. “Let’s get some drinks and have a good time.”
Luna, Hermione and Charlie danced the night away. They never did figure out what sort of bet Draco had with his father, but they forgot all about it as the evening went on.
At the end of the evening, they found out that they had won the trip to New Zealand. When Luna and Hermione weren't looking, Charlie had bid on two antique diamond wedding rings and had won them both. He was already planning on how to pop the question to them in New Zealand.
As they left, Lord and Lady Malfoy gave Charlie a secret smile of approval. Charlie was very happy, and he couldn't wait to get this two girls home and remove their costumes.
Hermione and Luna could not believe how much their lives had changed over the past year, all because they had bid on a mystery date with a masked man.
