I do not own any of the characters or places from the Harry Potter books or films. They all belong to J.K. Rowling. All that is mine is Lou and the plot. I am not making any money from the writing of this story.

Unbeta’d, all mistakes and lousy grammar are mine. Ccino
Also, I am sorry if my descriptions of Finland differ from any you know to be correct, and of my usage of the Finish language. The grammar and nouns etc are most likely very wrong. But hey, I’m doing my best and this is just a story. I’m taking what little I know and twisted it to suit my purposes. Any Finish nationals out there, please accept my apologies in advance. Most references to Finnish myth and lore are taken from Wikipedia.
Darque Hart: Thank you for pointing out the wrong wording in last chapter, I have edited it. As for overkill, maybe it is, I don’t know, but to me fiction is just that, fiction, a fantasy world where anything can, and does happen in the authors imagination. This whole site, like any fiction, is a world of make believe and anything goes as I see it. I am not criticising or disputing your comments in the least, in fact I loved the review you left on No on saw, everyone has a right to an opinion and all are important to me, yours included, it’s just that this is my fantasy and this is how my mind is working at this moment. Please keep the reviews coming, I really do value them all equally. ccino : D
Chapter 83
The first thing she pulled out were several drawers, similar to the hidden one under the desk, only these contained wands, dozens and dozens of them. Some were ancient, heavy and clumsy, others were fine and intricately carved. There were plain ones, ornate ones, every type of wood imaginable, a wand collectors dream.
“I would imagine Mr Olivander would be in his element, were he allowed to examine this little lot.” Severus exclaimed in awe.
Lou laid each of the drawers on a low table and they sat and looked through them all, holding them, experimenting with small charms, admiring their quality and studying the various carvings. A silver clip held a sheaf of small parchments, giving the age, date of manufacture, wand makers name and the length and core of each wand. Those with rune symbols were explained, as were the patterns and designs on the handles. Three were supposedly unbreakable and when Severus jokingly commented that the longest of the three, a thick, nineteen-inch mahogany with a dragon scale core, would be ideal for Hagrid, Lou told him to keep it aside and give it to the half Giant. One even had interchangeable cores, a square glass case accompanying it, divided into sections, each containing a different core.
One particular wand, a twelve-inch ebony rod with a koa wood handle, caught Severus‘ attention. According to its parchment, koa was a very rare tropical hardwood from Hawaii. This particular piece of koa had a luminescent quality about it that attracted Severus like a moth to flame. Embedded in the handle were small pieces of painite crystal, orangey red coloured and so rare as to be priceless.
He tried the wand out, lost to the feel of it in his hand. The weight, length and movement of it seeming to mould to his hand even better than his own did. The wand felt like an extension of himself and even in daylight, a simple Lumos spell lit the room so brightly it was like a small sun and they both had to close their eyes against the glare.
“You should keep that one Severus, it seems to like you.” She told him, grinning.
Every spell he attempted to do with the wand seemed to happen before he’d finished thinking what he wanted it to do, as though it was a part of him.
“Would you mind? It does feel … right somehow.”
“You can have the lot for me. Well except for this one and Hagrid‘s, I like this one.” She said, holding up a seven-inch ash wand with a Hart heartstring core. Not a particularly powerful wand, but light and easy to use and Lou felt comfortable with it. “It can’t hurt for us both to have spares.”
Further investigation into the safe revealed jewellery, purses and pouches containing Galleons and muggle money. A velvet drawstring bag that to Lou’s horror contained a small human skull, an airtight glass container housing a viable Basilisk’s heart, this Severus selfishly claimed instantly, and a bundle of letters so old it was impossible to read them, the ink was so faded.
“I think that’s everything. Can you see anything at the back Severus?”
He could not, but lifted her so they could be sure the safe was empty. It was.
“So what do you reckon we should do with this lot?” She asked, waving her hand at the trays of wands.
“That is up to you. Apart from the two we are keeping for ourselves, I would advise keeping the rest here. If the Ministry knew about them and we took them back to Hogwarts, they would insist on seizing them for examination. Then they would lie in the Department of Mysteries for the next thousand years. It would be unlikely you would get them back. We could however invite Mr Olivander here to examine them at his leisure. I think perhaps Albus would also be intrigued with them.”
“Yeah? We’ll do that then. What about that head? I don’t like the idea of keeping that.”
“That can definitely go the Ministry. I shall contact Rudolf, he can take it to the Finish Ministry.” Everything else went back in the safe for the moment, apart from the three wands and Severus sat at the desk to write missives and send owls. Lou skipped of to practice with her new wand and Severus went out into the grounds to do likewise once he’d finished his correspondence.
Two weeks later, they decided they’d discovered everything of importance. If there was more to find, they were past caring.
“I think we have worked harder over these last few weeks than two full terms at Hogwarts. It is time for a break.” Severus told Lou one afternoon.
Mr Olivander had spent a few days with them, losing himself in the examination of the wands, Albus also spent three days with them, wandering round the Maatila in a kind of dazed wonder. He found a massive potions laboratory, which pleased Severus no end even the majority of the potions and ingredients stored there were well past there best, and a room with the same qualities as the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts.
He also studied the original plans for the Maatila, along with the spells that made the place self-maintaining so he could apply them to Hogwarts on his return.
Rudolf Ervast took away the skull, and sent them an owl several days later explaining that it was the skull of a two-year-old child, most likely a Nilsen infant that died of natural causes several hundred years ago.
Bik showed them the family cemetery and they managed, with the help of many detection spells to locate the grave of the deceased child and buried the skull along with the rest of the remains. Her name was Elizabeth, she was only about two years old when she died of unknown causes. No one knew why it was in the safe, nor did they want to. The fact it was there at all was bizarre enough for them.
“So, would you like to stay here, or would you prefer to go elsewhere?” He asked Lou.
“Somewhere else I think. This place is lovely, but there’s too much of it. I want to go home to England.”
Three days later, they arrived at number twelve Grimauld place. They planned to stay there for a week, go to Prince Manor for a fortnight and spend the remainder of the holiday at Hogwarts.
As soon as they arrived at number twelve they set about redecorating it, the elves heads were removed from the stairs, everything was decorated in neutral colours and the garden cleared at left blooming with flowers.
Kreatcher had sulked at first when the head of his ancestors were removed from the hall, but when Lou designated a small area of the garden as a small plot for their burial he was satisfied and tended that area himself.
Mrs Black was delighted to see Lou and chatted none stop all the time they were there. Lou removed the curtains around the portrait and cleaned the frame and peeling paint on condition Mrs Black was polite to anyone that entered the house or held her tongue if she did not approve of them.
On the last day at number 12, Severus surprised Lou by inviting all of her friends to a birthday party. She was sixteen and he thought it only fitting that she have one. Actually he suggested it to Molly Weasley then left the witch to arrange everything and supervise them while he spent the evening at Hogwarts rather than have to suffer the rowdy rabble of partygoers himself. He returned at midnight when he hoped everyone would be gone, only to find the majority had stayed for the night.
At Prince Manor, they roamed the gardens, made love most everywhere they fancied and Severus never enjoyed loving his wife as much as he did now. In muggle England at least, she was of legal age to have sex and Severus was making certain she knew it.
Their arrival at Hogwarts was cause for another celebration as far as Albus was concerned. All the staff returned early to greet them and they had a small celebratory feast to mark the occasion.
Severus was not happy about this, but suffered it for Lou’s sake and the fact he never could argue with the Headmaster.
Hermione arrived early in the final week of the holidays. She still wanted to sit her NEWT’s and return to Karkias Academy for another year. As far as she was concerned, there was still so much to learn and she was looking forward to it. Hermione also felt it would be unfair to abandon Lou now, especially as she was the one who made this extended education possible. She’d thought about staying with the Order and helping with the capture of Deatheaters, in fact the Headmaster had actively encouraged her, along with Harry and Ron. However, Hermione had her mind set, the Order had all the information they needed now and she could always return if necessary.
Lou was ecstatic that Hermione was returning for the extra year. She thought she was mad, since she had a choice, but was still glad to have her there.
Severus decided that Lou would also sit her NEWT’s along with Hermione and Lou rebelled. Still, he won the argument by pinning her to the bed and taking her almost to the brink of orgasm then stopping, until she agreed to take them.
While Hermione spent hours studying, determined to get the best scores she could in her exams, Lou skulked about the castle. Severus’ earlier spells had already made certain she knew what she needed to know for the exams and she resented being made to do extra schoolwork during the holidays.
Lou also tried to persuade Severus to let her stay at Hogwarts if she did well with her NEWT’s, but he refused.
“You will stay in Finland until all of the Deatheaters are rounded up and the Dementors under control. Get used to the idea Lou because I will not change my mind.” He told her adamantly. “When you return next summer, I shall arrange for you to learn apparition as soon as you have your seventeenth birthday.”
“I don’t need to learn it.”
“Do not be ridiculous, of course you do. Everyone needs to learn how to apparate.”
Lou, her face set in defiance and anger, Melted away before his eyes and reappeared at the other side of the room.
Before he could say a word she Melted again, took a paperweight from his study desk at Prince Manor and melted back in front of him within seconds.
“Here, I know you recognise this. Like I said, I don’t need to learn apparition.”
“Wh … what did you just do?” He asked, amazed.
She disappeared again, grabbed a handful of snow from outside of Karkias Academy and came back to dump it in his hand.
“I Melted. It’s called Solutum, Long Jack taught me how to do it. It’s a gift only Shifters can do and he comes from a tribe called the Melungeon Indians and they Shift. Well, some of the Elders can anyway, and only into one thing. Long Jack can’t Melt because he can’t shift, but he got permission from his chief to teach me in secret. I don’t have to be of age to do it and I can Melt anywhere because it’s different to apparition. The only thing is I can’t Melt anyone with me like with apparition, but I can go anywhere in seconds and back again without getting tired or dizzy. So that arguments out of the window.”
Severus for once, was at a loss for words. He threw the melting snow to the floor and dried his hand, then made her demonstrate Solutum some more, fascinated with the fact she could go anywhere at any time, even when anti-apparition wards were in place.
“And you say only those with Shifting abilities are able to learn the art of Solutum?”
“Yeah, Long Jack told me.”
“Pity, it is a most useful talent and would be of great use to the Order members. And no, that does not mean you may stay and help. It does mean however that a closer eye will need to be kept on you. I do not like the idea that you might Melt back here whenever the mood takes you. You will take an oath to stay at the academy unless I give you express permission to do so.”
“WHAAAT!” She yelled. “No. I won’t do it. Anyway, what if something happens and I need to come back in a hurry? What if you’re hurt and can’t give me your permission? I won’t do that Severus, it’s not fair of you to ask me.”
His face practically boiled with rage at her refusal. His eyes flashed angrily as he stood facing her at his most dangerous.
“You will do as you are told.” He ground out slowly, his voice low and full of menace.
But Lou was in stubborn mode. Wary as she was of him at this moment, she knew she had a point and would not give in. Still, she placed a chair between them before she spoke. “Severus, I won’t take that oath, but if you’ll trust me, I’ll give one that I’ll only come back here if I think it’s truly necessary. Please, I don’t want to fight with you over this. I’ve been Melting for months without you knowing and not once have I snuck out of school. Why won’t you trust me?”
Severus thought about what she’d said. It was true, she had not used her ability to defy him, at least as far as he knew. “You will not place yourself in needless danger because of me? I refuse to have you playing the hero and putting yourself at risk merely because you believe that one of us might be at risk. I will not be at peace unless you take an oath Lou, I will be worrying about you turning up at dangerous and inopportune moments.”
“I swear I won’t Melt back here unless I feel I have to Severus. That’s all I’m willing to promise.” A swirl of light wrapped around her and disappeared, sealing the oath. “There, I’ve done it now and I can’t change it.”
Severus was not appeased, she had manipulated the oath and there was nothing he could do to change it. A fact they would both come to appreciate eventually, but for now he marched round the chair, grabbed her and tucked her under his arm to carry her into the bedroom. Lou kicking and squealing as he went.
The squeals of fright soon turned to squeals of pleasure as he took her, though he made sure to alternate his strokes with a fair bit of spanking to pay her back for her disobedience.
Although she didn’t comment on it, Lou noticed over the last few weeks that Severus seemed to have developed a habit of inserting his fingers into her back passage whenever they made love. She quite liked it, but then again, she had no idea that he was preparing her for something much bigger when the time came.
He was also interested in the fact she was able to Melt inanimate objects with her, because of this and her ability to shift into multiple forms, he suggested she talk with Long Jack about the possibility that she alone might be able to Melt someone along side of her.
He also slipped several doses of Heal All into her food and drink on her last day at Hogwarts. He refused to admit that he did not trust her, but now she was sixteen there was bound to be a certain amount of interest shown to her from male students when she returned to the academy. It also meant that when they met again, he would have the pleasure of once more, taking her virginity. He decided he would owl her with the information of what he had done once she was safely at the academy.
With their NEWT’s finished, everything packed and all the goodbyes made, Lou and Severus, Hermione, Albus and Minerva all stood in Severus’ study as Rudolf Ervast produced the Portkey that would take the two witches to the Finnish Ministry. Lou and Mr Ervast could have apparate while Lou Melted, but as yet only Severus and Hermione knew of her ability to Melt and they decided it would be better to keep it that way.
As previously, Severus held his stoic expression in front of everyone as they vanished, then left the dungeons to roam the castle alone.
That evening he sent Lou a letter telling her about the Heal All potion he’d been feeding her.
Hermione was shocked when Lou leaped from her bed swearing loudly about Severus.
“What on earth is it?” She asked.
Lou opened her mouth to say something, then changed her mind. She’d promised never to reveal anything about the Heal All to anyone. “Just Severus being a prat as usual. You really don’t want to know.” She told her, throwing the letter into the fire and watching it burn.
Hermione knew there was more to it but said nothing more. She could not interfere between husband and wife.
The Order was busy making plans for their first raid on a small cell of Deatheaters. All the information Severus found at the Maatila had been studied meticulously. The locations of each cell was checked out and most were found to be occupied by at least thirty Deatheaters in the smallest cell, to almost a hundred in the largest. There were more Deatheaters than they originally thought.
