Chapter 9
Author’s Note: Hermione is going to be a bit dark. This doesn’t follow with OTP or HBP. Sirius Black is alive and in my story Severus is a pure blood. Just so you know.

Summery: It’s been six years since Hermione left Hogwarts. She’s been doing a secret mission for the Order. Suddenly she and Severus are thrown together. Will they be able to work together or will they end up killing each other? R/R
Our Paths Cross Again
Chapter 9
For two months Severus helped Hermione heal and she worked on the potion. Voldemort and his follower were getting more and more active. Hermione knew they would be making their final move soon. Luckily the potion was almost finished. After that first night, when Hermione had called Severus into her dream, they had stopped. Severus never mentioned it and neither had she.
She was sitting in the rose gardens thinking. Ever since Severus had been helping her, she had felt these feeling toward him strengthen. She felt she was ready for Severus to perform the spell that would break the curse that connected her and Lucius. She was hearing his voice less and less now.
“Hello Hermione.” Albus greeted as he approached her.
“Hello Albus.” Hermione smiled.
“You seem to be doing better these last few weeks.” Albus commented as he sat beside her.
“I’ve been sleeping better. The potion is nearly finished. It is now in the final stage. It has to simmer for a month. I will add the final ingredient in the middle of January and it will be ready.” she said.
“That is good news. Our sources tell us that Voldemort will be making his final move some time in February.” he replied.
Hermione nodded. Albus sat and talked with her for a little while longer before returning inside. Hermione loved the old wizard like a grandfather, but the man was nosey and seemed to talk too damned much for her taste. She decided to return to the dungeons to do some reading.
“Hermione.” Severus called out as she entered the lab.
“Yes?” she asked.
“Could you come here a moment please.” he requested.
Hermione walked into his sitting room and found him sitting behind his desk reading the book he had grabbed after their first session. She sat in the chair across from him and waited.
“We have made a lot of progress during our talks. I’ll even go as far as saying your temper isn’t nearly as bad as it was once we started.” he said with a smirk.
“What are you getting at Severus?” she asked.
“I believe you are ready for me to say the spell.” he answered.
“I was thinking the same thing. Are there any side effects to it?” she replied.
“Yes. Once I say the spell you will be put to sleep for 24 hours. That is the only side effect.” he answered.
“Could we do it tonight? The potion is in the final phase. I can tell you the instructions. All that needs is for it to be stirred three times a day ten times in the counter clockwise and clock wise positions.” she requested.
“If that is what you want then yes. I can perform the spell tonight after dinner.” he answered.
Hermione nodded. She stood up and returned to her chambers. Once gone Severus leaned back in his chair and let out a sigh. He had finally accepted what he was feeling for Hermione. He, Severus Snape was in love with Hermione Granger.
‘I hope this spell will release her and let her move on.’ he thought.
The day seemed to fly for Hermione. She finished stirring the potion for the last time before going to the Great Hall for dinner. She remained quiet as she ate. She felt Severus watching her and shuddered. Over the last two months, she had realized, that even though mentally and physically she couldn’t give herself to him yet, she was in fact love with him.
“Miss Granger, I believe we have a few things to discuss.” Severus said as she stood up.
“Of course. Excuse me.” Hermione said as she rose from the table.
The pair walked down to the dungeons. Luckily, the students had left for the holidays. Only six students remained. Hermione led him to her private quarters. Severus had summoned the book as he sat on her sofa. Hermione was sitting beside him. She was nervous and scared. Scared it wouldn’t work.
“Where would you prefer I sat the spell? Here or in your bedroom. I want you to be comfortable while you are asleep.” Severus asked.
“My bedroom then.” Hermione answered.
Severus followed her as she led the way. She grabbed a pair of pajamas and entered the bathroom. Severus conjured a chair and pulled it next to the bed. Hermione returned a few moments later and climbed into bed.
“Are you sure this will work?” she asked.
“Yes. This is the spell Lucius used and this is the counter curse. Spells like these can’t be altered in any way or they won’t work.” Severus explained as he showed her the book.
Hermione nodded and laid down. She took a few calming breaths before nodding to him. Severus stood at her bedside and began saying the spell. Hermione recognized the language as ancient Greek.
Once done with the spell Severus watched as her eyes fluttered closed and her breathing evened out. He let out a relieved breath. She was sound asleep. All he had to do was wait 24 hours. Then perhaps, he could have a chance at being with her.
“I love you Hermione.” he whispered.
Severus leaned down, kissed her forehead, and left the room. He securely warded her room and added a spell that would alert him when she awoke. The rest was up to her.
