REALLY sorry about the delay. RL has been biting me on the ass.
I haven't checked this at all, so I'll re-read it and sort out any glaring errors. Hope you can forgive them til then, as I figured an update would be welcome! SP
Chapter Eight - Now That I Know What I'm Without
Severus sat in the headmaster's study, his study, he supposed, now, but for him it would always belong to the irritating blue eyed man whose portrait twinkled merrily behind the chair Snape brooded in.
He was hard.
Hard, horny, and Harry-less. It wasn't a good combination.
He sipped a fire whisky, hating himself for needed the crutch of alcohol. The first week back had been 'eventful' to say the least. The Death Eaters who now taught at Hogwarts had enjoyed establishing their reign of terror by beating any poor sap who so much as breathed out of place. Severus felt a slight smile twist his features.
And all these years the pupils have thought ME a cruel bastard.
He sipped more of the fluid, not really paying attention to what he was doing, which was criminal, given what he was drinking. Still, he was trying to work out where Harry might be, and what he could be up to with his two friends. Severus sneered at the thought of the Weasley boy helping anyone, but Granger was a different matter. She was coldly rational, and annoyingly gifted. Should Harry decide to exact revenge ' and who would blame him? ' Granger would be an unpleasant enemy. She, of all of them, would be most likely to realise the dangers of a failed Bond, and how to repair it.
Which left Snape, well, screwed.
He considered how likely it was that he would still be living by the end of the year. The odds weren't good.
He sighed, trying to sink into the chair and just relax, but his erection pushed against his clothes and his mind whirled with worry for the three missing children.
BANG!
'What the fuck?!' Snape cried out involuntarily, spilling his drink.
'Shit!'
He thumped the glass down on the desk and hurried out of the room, anxious to see whatever it was Peeves had done now.
It wasn't Peeves.
The massive house banners that hung in the hall had been magically altered and now all read 'Potter for President!' in flashing gold and red lettering.
Severus bit back a snort. It was a nifty piece of magic, shame he couldn't let it go. All the other Death Eaters would want to see the culprits found and punished. If only he had some idea of who it might have been. His first inclination was to find Granger and ask her who she'd taught the transfiguration spell to, but then he realised it couldn't possibly be her, because she was with Harry ... somewhere. His heart squeezed painfully.
He stared up at the banners, eyes drawn to the flashing 'POTTER' over and over again. A crowd of students and other staff had pressed into the area and now gaped and giggled (or tutted) at the disfigured decorations. Wearily, setting his teeth, Severus aimed his wand and returned the banners to their proper condition.
One of his colleagues hurried forward and began muttering in his ear, something venomous, but Severus ignored him and glided as gracefully as usual through the milling people and went back to the study. His heart ached for Harry, and his stomach clenched at the thought of the lad out there, alone, far from Hogwarts, Merlin alone knew where.

'Yeah, this was a great idea,' Ron muttered sarcastically as he squatted on his heels, crowding as close to the blazing fire as he dared.
'This was the only idea!' Hermione snapped, prodding at the flames with a long stick. 'We'd eliminated all other options, so, yes, actually, it is a good idea.'
'I still don't see why...' Ron began but Harry broke in.
'Oh, just STOP, Ron, for crying out loud. We're all miserable you know! Just let it go.'
Ron glared angrily. 'Yeah, sure, Harry, take it out on me. It's not my fault we're stuck in this stupid tent in the fucking forbidden forest you know!' He took a deep breath, ignoring the warning in Hermione's eyes, 'We can't use the Room of Requirement because of you, you fucking prat! How much longer are you going to delude yourself, huh? How much longer are you gonna forget you were taking it up -'
'RONALD!' Hermione yelled, startling both boys. 'That's enough!'
Harry held up a hand, his green eyes flashing. 'No, Hermione, let him continue, clearly I've done something to annoy him, but I don't know what. So tell me, Ron, what have I done that's so upset you? Was it nearly dying every year? Saving Ginny's life? Saving your dad's life? What was it?'
'Fuck you.' Ron snarled, 'After all, Snape has,' he added, and stalked out of the tent.
Harry stared after the red head, bafflement written clearly across his face. 'What the hell was that?' he asked bewildered.
Hermione was flushed, her eyes suspiciously bright. She chewed her lower lip for a few moments before finally speaking, voice tight, 'I don't know, Harry. Just give him time. He must be worried about his family.'
'And you think I'm not worried about them?' he flashed back.
Hermione controlled her temper with difficulty. 'No, of course not, Harry, but it's different for Ron. He's always been your friend. You have always been the one in the limelight, and he's always been in the shade. And now he's joining you on this revenge thing you have, leaving his family and friends behind. It's just a lot to accept and deal with.'
Harry frowned. 'You've accepted it, and dealt with it, Hermione, and you're as much in the shadows as Ron is. More so, you're Muggle-born.'
The girl shook her head. 'No, I've often had attention for being so good at magic, despite being a Muggle-born. Ron is just another of the Weasleys. He isn't anything special, well, that's what he thinks anyway.'
'That's just utter shit.' Harry said, 'Surely he can see we're a team?' He paused, brows drawn together. 'Everything comes back to Se - Snape, doesn't it? I don't understand everything, don't get why Ron made such a random comment, but it is all about that bastard, isn't it? We're here, now, to get him for what he did. To Dumbledore, and to me.' He stopped, confused. 'He didn't do anything to me. Why did I say that?'

He lay between Harry's legs, deep within the other, their eyes locked together, their hands entwined. Harry gasped softly each time Severus pushed deep into him, and he clenched his ass, making Severus groan and thrust harder.
'Please,' Harry moaned. 'Please! It's the right time. Now. Please! Before it's too late.'
'You're sure?' Severus whispered, leaning in to kiss the reddened lips.
'Mmm,' Harry mumbled around the other's tongue. Severus pulled away, dark eyes fixed on the other's. 'Yes, I'm sure.'
Severus nodded, cock tingling. He could feel fluid spilling out of him, slicking the channel he was claiming so thoroughly. He moaned and lowered his head so that their foreheads touched, then he began to thump hard into the lad, enjoying the feel of heels digging into his back.
Harry whimpered and came, mouth open, utterly silent.
Moments later, Severus followed, his seed spurting powerfully into his young lover. He dropped onto the other, gasping for breath.
'Ok?' he asked, when he was able.
Harry wriggled, enjoying the other still inside him. 'Yeah,' he said, then smiled softly, 'it worked.'
'Really?'
'Really.'
