I noticed it’s been almost a full year since I’ve updated. I’m sorry, I just got the urge to create a chapter, I dunno if you should expect me to keep up or not. I have college as of recently, two jobs. Though I will periodically update from time to time, just don’t expect it to be a weekly or monthly deal.
Thank you, to those who have read. I appreciate it! <3

The two raced down the halls. They’d already come to a realization that they both had every class together. Which was no coincidence, they weren’t ignorant to that fact. As they rounded a corner they caught sight of a large group and a teacher. Stephanie halted all movement as she called out to Adrianna to do the same. This wasn’t going to get either of them to their class any faster, they could simply ask the teacher out there – or check to see if it was their class.
“Oddy, as much as I’d love to see if we can find this class, magically – no pun intended – I’d really adore not having more detentions then I can handle.” The girl took a deep breath before pointing to the teacher outside, “how about we ask?”
“Eh, true… fine fine.” Adrianna started to walk towards the opening leading outside.
“Psh, don’t have to sound all…” she stopped speaking as she noticed the brooms on the ground and two open spots left untouched. “Well, I guess… by the looks of it – that settles that.”
Adrianna glanced over at Stephanie with a ‘duh’ expression, the teacher looking over to them as though she was going to blow a gasket. The two girls walked swiftly over, not wanting to waste any more time than they apparently already had as the teacher began to tell them that they were late. Both girls apologized and stated it wouldn’t happen again as the teacher nodded, introducing herself as Madam Hooch. With that she began to talk to the rest of the class as Adrianna and Stephanie took their spots.
“Alright, now that we have the entire class, I can finally begin. First thing is, I want you to hold your hand over your broom and say ‘up’, but with feeling – meaning.” Madam Hooch informed.
“Juuust like the movie, interesting stuff.” Stephanie whispered to herself, pretty sure Adrianna caught on. “Up!”She exclaimed, the broom flying up into the palm of her hand as she looked over to Adrianna in triumph.
“Psh, up!” Adrianna said it a second time, a sigh coming from her. “UP!” apparently the third time was the charm as Adrianna’s broom also popped up in the palm of her hand.
A few minutes into the lesson, everyone had their broom hovering and the teacher began to instruct them to straddle the broom and kick up – then touch back down. Adrianna gave Stephanie a ‘don’t even think of doing it’ look as the younger girl gave a shit-eating grin at her thoughts. Both girls straddled their broom, Adrianna continuously looking at Stephanie as she mouthed: “This isn’t the time to show off.” A frown was given in response to as she nodded, both kicking up from the ground – hovering a moment like the teacher said and then landing back down with no errors. Yet, that couldn’t be said about the rest of the class. It continued on with minor things until the end of the class was announced.
“How about we ask for directions this time?” Adrianna stated as she placed a hand on Stephanie’s back and began to direct her towards Madam Hooch. “McGonagall teaches Transfiguration, remember? We seriously don’t want to piss her off any more than what you did this morning, Steph.”
“She didn’t look that angry, just more-so flabbergasted! Though, you’re right – Madam Hooch!” Stephanie spoke as the teacher turned towards her. “We’re extremely sorry we didn’t get to your class on time, our excuse is that we’re first years and we forgot our maps. Do you have any extra or could you possibly direct us to Transfiguration with Mrs. McGonagall?” She questioned, trying to keep her tone respectful.
“Well, you two don’t need to have another teacher wondering where you are. Follow me, I don’t have classes till after lunch, you can pick up another map or get yours when you have your break.” She stated authoritatively as she began to walk off, expecting the two to follow.
“Thank you,” both girls said in unison as they followed close behind.
“See, it’s not that bad here… though it’s a little more intimidating to ask them then the teachers at our high school…”Stephanie whispered to Adrianna, gaining a nod in response.
A few minutes later and they finally reached Transfiguration, on time. Even if they weren’t both were sure that Madam Hooch would be their excuse to get out of any trouble they might be in. Honestly, the two were quite on the same level – it was wonderful they got sent to some odd dimensional place together. They might be going nuts without one another or someone at least as leveled and similar as they were.
“Thank you again, Madam Hooch.” Stephanie stated and Adrianna soon after.
When they entered and took their seats next to one another, a book placed on their desk – Stephanie went through it. She read bits and pieces, pointing out a few humorous ones to Adrianna before the class began. Once again they went through the routine of learning new things, but passing them with flying colors for the most part – there were a few flubs here and there, but they got the hang of it after the second try. It went on like this till the end of class, signaling lunch time and the time for them to find out where a map was.
“Well, Draco and I… and now you since we figured out our schedules, have Dark Arts and Potions together. So we can ask him instead of get our map, cause we’ll just waste time.” Stephanie half-heartedly complained to her friend as they walked out of their classroom and towards the Great Hall. “Plus, I’m starving – all I had was …a muffin.”
“True, but the starving thing is your fault, Stephanie!” Adrianna laughed, signaling her words were rather joking than serious. “I wonder if we’ll start any fights if we ask to sit together or have a table that we can sit together at so it’s not odd that there’s a Ravenclaw at the Slytherin table or vice versa.” She questioned. “Guess it wouldn’t hurt to speak to Dumbledore about it.” She gave a shrug.
As they reached the Great Hall along with others, entering, they were greeted with the site of students flurrying about at their tables – eating. It was basically a self-serve deal; you get it and eat it. It was almost too good to be true! Stephanie smiled to herself, it was so much better than waiting in those long lunch lines to get an overpriced meal. As hues roamed around the room she spotted blonde, immediately registering the person as Draco. Pansy was nowhere in sight, luckily, at this point – knock on wood, she thought to herself. Stephanie didn’t make any move to go to Draco at this point, it was time for her to spend someone-on-one with Adrianna, not like she hadn’t all day, but at this point they could talk freely without getting snapped at.
“So, where ya wanna sit?” Stephanie looked between the two tables, pondering.
“I don’t know, where do you…wanna sit?”Adrianna threw the question back, serious at this point.
The two didn’t want to create a problem with both sitting at the Ravenclaw or Slytherin table. They knew the Ravenclaws might not be too happy with a Slytherin at theirs, due to the reputation Slytherins had… and Slytherins – just weren’t completely accepting of other houses, period. A sigh emitted from Stephanie as she began to walk forward, standing around awkwardly wouldn’t help either of them.
“Sit at Slytherin with me, I know it’s a bit worse to sit there – but we need to follow Draco, remember?” Stephanie informed, “We might as well be as close to him as possible, so we can find him.”
“Stephanie… I don’t want to cause any issues.” Adrianna uncertainly started, “but fine – I’m blaming you for anything that happens though, since you’re Slytherin and you’re the one that stated where to sit first.” She snickered before walking over towards the snake-table along with Stephanie.
“I try my hardest to get us in the worst situations possible, Oddy, you know that.” Stephanie stated sarcastically before taking her seat in an open spot at the end of the table, Adrianna sitting next to her.
They both noticed the odd glances and even whisperings of other Slytherins – even other tables! Stephanie huffed, glaring at anyone that she caught gossiping. Can’t two friends sit and eat? Do houses really have to get between us just because they’re different? She fumed inwardly as Adrianna ignored the stares and gossip for the most part.
“It’s like they haven’t seen friends sit together and eat,” Adrianna stated – as though she’d read Stephanie’s mind. “It’s kind of humorous if you ask me.”
Stephanie chuckled as she began to fill her plate up with various foods, much like Adrianna. Really, at this point her glaring was done and she chose to ignore everything like her friend. Stephanie really needed to figure out a way to be calmer; less aggressive. She admired Adrianna and her way of dealing with things, so nonchalantly, as though things didn’t bother her. Granted, she knew certain things bothered her friend. Yet, for the most part, Adrianna would never visibly show it unless put under a great deal of stress or something horrible was going on at the moment. Stephanie slightly smiled at the thoughts; while they were so similar they also had things to work on, that’s also where having each other came in handy.
“Steph… Stephie…. Stephers…. STEPHANIE!”---
A voice cut through her train of thought as she glanced over towards the owner, an ‘oh’ expression on her face. “Y…yeah? Oh, Adrianna… sorry, I was…..erhm… spacing out. Thinking ‘bout something.” She caught the expression on Oddy’s face as she shook her head, holding up her hands in an ‘I have nothing’ fashion. “No, no! Not that something!”
“Suuuure, Steph.” Adrianna teased, not believing her friend.
“Heh, heh, you caught me.” Stephanie gave in – not wanting to get into a huge discussion over things as she finally began to eat. “So, Moody is professor in the 3rd year right?” Stephanie glanced up at the teachers chairs, finding the man sitting as she sighed. “He creeps me out, shouldn’t we tell him that’s a guy disguised by polyjuice potions?” The last part was whispered to Adrianna who merely shrugged.
“Well, how about we just let things unfold, if we change things – then other things change. You know, chain of reaction.” Adrianna whispered back before being interrupted.
“Well, well ladies. Brave pair you are, “the masculine voice spoke.
As both girls turned to see who was speaking, Stephanie merely stuck out her tongue at the boy. Truly it was easy to recognize everyone, by voice, Draco’s even easier to select. The boy raised a brow at the childish display Stephanie put on as he sat down next to her.
“Brave is an overstatement, Draco.” Stephanie began, “one would categorize me being brave if, let’s say, I faced Voldemort.”
Those around the table in ear shot gasped, eyes wide as they stared at Stephanie in awe of her accusation, much less use of he-who-must-not-be-name’s name. Wow, that was a painful thought, named ‘name… Stephanie shook her head of useless words as she then raised a brow at all the looks she was receiving. The name didn’t strike any fear in her, thus the bravery in saying it – maybe she should have stated she would be brave for just stating the name? Well, she was finished with lunch at this point, it seemed Adrianna was too. She pushed herself up from her spot and chanted her food away.
“Well, looks like I’m finished eating. Can’t really take a bite with people openly gaping, wide mouthed, at me over a stupid name.” She turned around, walking off.
Adrianna didn’t know really what to do. She knew that her friend really didn’t feel any fear saying the name and that the fact that they couldn’t name him was ridiculous to say the least. Yet, to be honest, if Stephanie wanted any brownie-points, so to say – with the dark mark holders or even just the Death Eater’s kids in general, she would have to abide by some code. Adrianna stood up and strolled out along with her friend, they weren’t making the greatest first impression, but at least they were making a historical one she guessed.
“Stephanie, wait up…”
“This is dumb, Adrianna. Seriously! We don’t belong here, everything is wrong. I don’t know why we’re here, this just stresses me out. We’re going to have slips of the tongue. We’re going to hurt people by doing that and others will be saved, but is it really worth the price?” Stephanie exclaimed in a harsh whisper – actually checking to see if anyone was around before she continued on. “It’s on our shoulders to a degree, everything. We can save so many, we can help so easily – but at a chain reaction cost, like you said.”
The look on Adrianna’s face said everything. They were so happy with the sheer fact that they were in some fantasy, different dimensional world; that they forgot to look at the big picture. Sure, they gazed at it; acknowledged it. They never really took the time to see it for what it truly was. It was going to be fun, amazing, and they’d make new memories – but they would be in danger and they would put others in danger. People they cared about would be lost and others saved. They had some power to tip the scale in their favor as well as away from it.
“Stephanie… I don’t… know what to say other than… we didn’t choose to come here.” Adrianna started. “Something did it for us. Whether we make mistakes or not… you shouldn’t blame yourself.”
Stephanie held up a hand, hearing footsteps approaching as the figure of Draco appeared. He had followed both out into the hallway as he crossed his arms, expectedly looking at Stephanie and Adrianna. Both girls frowned at the interruption as they looked between each other, the conversation would have to be continued later on tonight at dinner or even on parchment. Either way was risky if anyone caught wind of it or even saw their writing.
“I can’t help but blame myself,” was the last words to leave Stephanie’s mouth before she turned around and started to head down to the dungeons. “I’m skipping classes…you two have fun.” She waved them off as she walked off, not bothering to look back.
“Stephanie, Snape is going to kill you –you know that!” Draco called down the corridor.
“Sure he is, right after I skip his detention as well and gain some more I’m sure. Not like I have any freedom here anyway other than… stupid augh – not even going to bother with this conversation.” She agitatedly stated as she stormed off quicker.
She needed a nap, she needed to recuperate. Really, Adrianna should probably take a breather and do the same. Including when there was so much to think about now. Stephanie didn’t see it as a ‘I’m a horrible person’ type thing, but more-so of the fact… she was struggling between ‘right’ and ‘wrong’. She didn’t know which path to take, not in the ways of light or dark, but in the ways of saving this person over that person, telling them this event or that event, pointing someone in this direction or that direction. Dumbledore and Snape would understand, right? Dumbledore would more-so than Snape, including since she did have to serve detention still, she’d see if she was ready to go or not. Draco would probably force her out of her room if he had anything to say about it, even Snape probably.
“First day always sucks…” Stephanie sighed to herself.
