Chapter 9: Aftermath part 2
Heading towards the library to catch up on some studying in the evening Draco mauled things over in his mind. Based on what happened this afternoon he would have guessed that the Love Potion was out of effect and what had happened between him and Harry was actually real, that sprung from somewhere inside them. But seeing as he didn't know the exact effects of the Love Potion and it did say it had subtle qualities, he may still be under the influence of it. Draco wondered how he could find out if the potion was still in effect, without anyone finding out what had happened between him and Harry. He made a mental note in his head to ask his godfather the Potions Master to analyze the contents of the flask and give him some answers.
When he arrived at the library Harry was already there, sitting alone at a window with a heap of books spread out all over the table. The green eyed boy hadn't noticed him enter and his quill ran busily over the parchment. Draco's eyes lingered at the brunette, going over in his mind the events of the last two days. Pansy's voice called out to Draco “There you are Drakie, ready for some studying?” she came up to him and his eyes broke concentration to look at her, a little startled. His eyes widened and as he took a fast glance towards Harry he saw the boy looked up at him, all blushed and slightly terrified.
“Yes, let's get started then Pans” he said and strategically chose a table where he could look at Potter if he wanted, but ignore him if he needed to concentrate. Pansy wasn't unaware of the looks that had flown between the boys and she could barely contain herself. “Draco, WHY is Harry Potter blushing red like a lobster when he looks at you?!” she said just loud enough for Harry not to hear her.
Draco smiled secretively. “Wouldn't you like to know” he merely said then returned to his books. Pansy shut the book in front of his face.
“Draco, you're not serious, are you?!” she hissed incredulously.
“What if I was?” Draco raised an eyebrow and looked confident. But in reality he hoped for his friend's approval.
“You're not actually fucking Harry Potter, are you?” she whispered, looking over at the Gryffindor boy who looked scared and trying to concentrate on his studies.
“Draco, you know you can have anyone you want, but Harry Potter? Isn't this, playing with fire a little bit?” Pansy looked worried, she had never thought Draco's obsession with Harry could actually stem from desire, or whatever it was they had.
Draco felt upset now. He thought out of all people, Pansy would understand.
“What, now Potter is too good for me, is that it?” he asked defensively.
“No, no that's not it at all, I'm just saying that...” Pansy sighed exasperatedly.
“If you toy with The-Boy-Who-Lived and play pranks on him and be just, you know the way you've always been with him, then I think people would understand that and him too. But Draco, break this boy's heart and you will be the most hated person in the Wizarding World. You don't want that, do you?”
Draco looked even more upset now.
“What makes you think I'll break his heart? Truth is closer that he'll break mine, from what I've seen it's him running away from me, it's his chance to crush me into oblivion with his rejection. I didn't think you of all people would think me so cruel, and I will ask you to stay out of my business from now on, Ms Parkinson.” Draco said sternly and stormed out of the library.
Harry saw that they had been fighting, but didn't hear what it was about. He immediately felt sorry for Draco and wondered weather or not to follow the boy to see if he was all right.
He looked over at Pansy who stared at the door to the library where Draco had exited and then decided he needed to know if Draco was all right.
He ran out of the library, following Draco out into the hallway.
“Draco!” he yelled, making everyone stop to look at them. Draco turned around, his silver eyes locked with Harry's with a painful expression in them.
“Are you all right?” he asked as he had caught up with the Slytherin.
“Of course I'm all right, Potter, why wouldn't I be?” he didn't know weather to feel embarrassed over the sudden audience they had now or happy Harry actually cared about how he felt.
Harry stepped closer and whispered so the others wouldn't hear.
“It's just... I saw you and Pansy arguing about something, and I just wanted to see if you're okay. You looked rather upset.” Harry's sincerity blinded Draco, he didn't know what to say. He just smiled a little and nodded for Harry to come with him. “Let's talk about it where it's less crowded.” he said and Harry followed him into the Quidditch locker room.
He didn't know exactly what to say to him, but he supposed the truth could be a good start. The silence was killing Harry, he didn't want to push things that may not concern him but he had to speak. “So what was the argument about?” he asked. Draco looked Harry in the eyes and smiled charmingly.
“You, actually.” he said. That made Harry look down on the floor and blush a little. “Oh, I didn't realize.” he said, feeling stupid for asking now.
Draco drew in a deep breath, feeling that if he was doing the whole honesty-thing he might as well be perfectly honest.
“Apparently, I'm not good enough for you.” Draco said with a less honest smile.
That made Harry look up at Draco in surprise. He didn't know what to say, he just shook his head “Draco that's..” he started but was quickly interrupted.
“Don't bother, I know what it's like. I know how the world perceives us, and there wouldn't be one single person who would think me worthy of you. Myself included.”
he was being brutally honest and this surprised Harry to no end. He'd never heard Draco utter a single word direct from his heart the way he had now, and he was seriously starting to think that Draco wasn't such a bad person after all. In fact, he knew it, he could feel it when they where alone together. There were actually many things about Draco he liked and admired, now that he knew him a bit better.
For example he was actually very clever, aside for some poor choices, he had good work ethics and was fiercely loyal to his own house and friends, he had learned that the boy actually had a sense of humor and that he was very honest and could be an amazing sweet-talker, using his charms was definitely something Harry had come to like. You know aside from the whole tall, blond and gorgeous thing.
“Who is to decide that? What gives anyone the right to decide weather or not someone is good enough for someone else?” Harry started “The people involved should be the only ones to be the judge of that” he continued and continued observing the hurt expression poorly hidden in Draco's face.
“So does that mean you could be the one to decide ...or I?” Draco asked him in a dark tone, a hint Harry couldn't escape but notice even if he'd tried his darndest.
“Well, there's really not anything to decide is there?” Harry said rhetorically, looking more nervous now as Draco closed in on him, like a wild animal about to strike it's prey. “Isn't there?” Draco said, letting the question hang in the air, making Harry more and more uncomfortable by the second.
“Because I think there is a whole lot to explore here. ” he continued as his body hovered close to Harry's, his hand coming up to caress Harry's face. Harry found himself unable to tear his eyes away from Draco's silvery ones. His entire body frozen and his skin zinging deliciously at Draco's touch.
“No” Harry said with a weak voice, in direct contrast to what his body wanted.
“No?” Draco echoed, his lips hovering close to Harry's lips now, but his hand slowly leaving Harry's face and taking a small step back, leaving Harry some space.
Harry immediately missed Draco's touch and his closeness, he wanted to feel that surge in his stomach again that he felt when Draco was around, and especially when he was that close. He wanted to feel that delirium of being in an intimate situation with the golden haired boy, he wanted nothing more at this moment than to give in to the pull that Draco seemed to use to draw him in, whatever that may mean.
He thought all of this in a split second and as Draco had not even taken the full step back, Harry stopped him by pulling him back by the wrist, his eyes misty with desire and put both his arms around Draco's head, burying his hands in Draco's golden locks as he smashed their lips together and kissed him passionately.
Harry didn't know what came over him, he abandoned all sense and reason, he did something he never thought he would do, but at this moment he couldn't care less, all there was was Draco, his immaculate beauty and lips that he had to keep on kissing. Harry loved how strong and possessive Draco's arms felt around his torso and part of him kept thinking that it felt like Draco was half trying to take his robes off, half trying to tear them off. When Harry felt himself getting hard for the third time under Draco's touches and kisses, he started questioning his sexuality, if maybe he wasn't as straight as he'd thought he was.
“Harry?” a voice sounded from afar. It was Neville's voice, he rounded the corner as the two boys separated a little, putting some distance between them. Harry looked over as Neville came in sight, looking from one boy to the other.
“Neville” Harry said sounding surprised. Neville wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but judging by the boy's reddened lips and disheveled appearance, he could have taken a guess.
“Ron is looking for you” that was all he really dared to say.
“Tell him I'll be there in a minute.” Harry looked pleadingly towards his friend, and Neville knew what Harry meant, that he not speak of this, though he didn't understand it, he still respected Harry's wish.
Neville went ahead and Harry just looked remorsefully at Draco.
“I have to go” he said, sounding like he really wanted to stay, much to Draco's liking.
Draco just nodded, trying to act cool and smirked his usual smirk.
“We'll talk later.” he said and let the Gryffindor leave.
“What is going on Harry?” Neville asked as Harry caught up with him.
“I'll tell you about it later, seeing as I think you know already.” he said leaving a stunned Neville to go see what Ron wanted.
