Chapter 9 - The Unlikely Trio
Warnings: Angst
"Albus knew what?" George asked.
Harry shrugged. "I get some small bit, then a task. Some things she wrote I already knew about and some things are still vague."
George looked perplexed.
"Well the first one I already knew about, at least that Professor Snape and my mother were friends. I know from his memories that he loved her. I know from his diary that he really didn't know he loved her until she became pregnant with me. Her second revelation was about my soul mate." Harry said.
That got George's attention. "She said you have a soul mate?"
"Actually it's part of the requirements for release, and it's one of her secrets. Evidently she knew who it was." Harry stated, handing the documents over to George.
He looked over the beginning and started to read what was revealed.
"She knew you well even back then." George spoke softly.
"What do you mean?" Harry asked, he had not really thought about much except revealing the next secret.
"You have not had an ordinary life, Harry. Your years have been spent with one task or quest after another. You don't know how to just live, to relax and to really deal with everything. She evidently saw the need in you to have a task. I would like to help, as it will keep my mind from wondering into dark territory, and that is her greatest accomplishment I think." George stated and smiled.
Harry pondered on that. The times he wasn't focused on something, were so depressing, he knew he would fall into that black void without something to keep him going. After he had revealed all her secrets, what then? His eyes started to drift off to space, his face fell solemn. George snapped his fingers, trying to bring Harry back.
"So? Can I help?" George asked again.
"Sure, I don't see why not." Harry said, and stopped as a knock sounded on his door.
"You might want to put a shirt on." Harry said with a smile, while walking out of the kitchen to get the door.
George said nothing.
Harry opened the door to a bright eyed Draco Malfoy.
"Come in; want to join us for breakfast?" Harry offered.
"We?" Draco pressed, raising his eyebrow slightly.
"George stayed the night last night after he drank himself to sleep; Breakfast is in the kitchen, with a fresh Pot of coffee." Harry stated.
"George as in Weasley?" Draco queried.
"Do you know any other George?" Harry asked
Draco just looked at Harry, shook his head and waited.
Harry led Draco into the kitchen, transfigured another chair and went to the counter to prepare another plate. "Coffee?" Harry asked without looking.
"Sure..." Draco replied, his eyes dragging over the half-naked man at the table. George who had been lost in thought did not notice Draco until he spoke. He just looked up with his haunted eyes and nodded in greeting.
Draco had no clue what to even say. So he opted for just being polite. "Good morning"
George was a bit taken aback at the pure civility that rolled off the young Malfoy's tongue, and glanced at Harry then back at Draco.
Harry had turned to deliver the coffee and plate, when he noticed George's expression. "Draco is my friend, and has apologized. It's been nice not to have animosity in my life, so please get along George." Harry said with a sigh, hoping that for once a Weasley and a Malfoy could get along.
George nodded, Draco offered a small smile, and Harry sat down and heaved a sigh of relief.
Harry detailed the new developments in his mother's writing for Draco. This seemed to make the conversation pick up a bit. They discussed possible locations.
"Hogwarts, where they met?" "Where were they married?" "What about Grimmauld Place did your dad ever go there?"
Harry pondered it all. He had not a single clue. After a while they started talking about other things. About the next school year, and what that may be like. George would not go back; he had a business to run. Draco would and maybe he could really focus on his passion for defensive charms. Harry was just happy that school would be peaceful for once, and the other two nodded in their agreement.
Draco left after a few hours, with the notion he would return the next day during lunch. His parents had a house viewing that morning and he wanted to go with them.
George retreated to the guest room, evidently tired and weary. Harry returned to his room, wanting to take a nap, but his mind was still racing with questions.
Eventually Harry slipped into a fitful slumber.
Arms were wrapped around him, cradling him. He could not hear anything but mumbling, and still he could not see. The arms were strong, and completely masculine. That intoxicating scent overwhelmed Harry, and his head began to spin. A head was pressed against his, and they began swaying back and forth almost in a silent rhythm. Harry felt the tears, not rain, but tears fall onto his cheek from the man holding him. The visions were back with the tears, but they were tinged with a confused emotion. The first flash was of Lilly dead on the floor, a young Harry crying in his crib, staring. The next was of Harry sitting in front of the mirror of Erised, hand reaching out to the picture. But in the picture was an older Harry smiling with love back towards whoever was remembering the past.
Fingers began stroking his arm as they swayed, building a fire within Harry. How could this man not know what he was doing to him? Harry tried to speak, but his mouth would not open. He struggled to move one hand. Finally one moved, and he entwined his fingers with the other mans. They were long, soft, but firm. Then the man holding him seemed to collapse into sobs around him. A heart wrenching pain and agony ripped through Harry's heart as the last vision played over and over in his mind, Harry dead in Hagrid's arms.
Harry sat up, awake, and sweating. Nightmare or dream, he could not tell anymore. Something was desperately wrong.
Harry called for Winky. When she popped in He asked that she see to whatever George needed, and to let him know Harry wasn't feeling well and would be asleep until tomorrow. Winky nodded and set off. Harry opened the drawer next to his bed and grabbed the dreamless sleep potion. He needed some rest.
The next day brought George and Draco in on his room, flooding it with bright light from the afternoon sun. Harry blinked up at the both of them. "What?" Harry muttered sleepily.
"Winky said you were not well, but we expected you to be up hours ago." George said.
"George told me, and since you were not awake when I arrived, I suggested we see what the matter was." Draco interjected.
"Just tired..."Harry said, and then smiled at the two "I figured it out."
The two men looked at Harry with a befuddled expression.
"Our house in Godrick's Hallow," Harry stated, "That is where it all started."
Understanding dawned on Draco, but was just a bit slower on George.
"So when do we go?" George asked.
Draco looked between George and Harry, "Can I come too?"
"I don't see why not," Harry said, "How about today?"
Draco and George nodded. Harry stood up and moved towards his trunk. "Be ready in two hours?"
"Meet you in the parlor then" Draco said, grabbing George and pulling him out of the room as Harry picked out his clothes. He headed towards the bathroom with a grin. What a trio... A Potter, a Weasley, and a Malfoy.
A/N~ Next Chapter is a bit more for explanations and closer towards knowing who is the Soul Mate.
