Chapter 9
Sirius POV
‘For one, I hate him for being just him, for the other, I thought I made it very clear last night that I don’t want anyone else that close to you. I’m not the sharing type.’ I told her, hoping she would get the point.
Now that Snape wasn’t touching Lex anymore, I was slowly coming to my senses. But then Snape replied ‘No just the sleeping around type, that leads girls to believe you like them, just to sleep with another girl.’
Oh, how he was going to regret those words had left his mouth!
I took aim, and shot a curse at him.
What happened next was almost like a nightmare to me. Lex pushed Snape out of the way, and got hit by the curse, not having enough time to shield herself.
The curse sliced her abdomen open, blood was gushing out, she fell to her knees, trying to stop the bleeding, to no avail. ‘Lex!’ I shouted, just as Snape called out for her as well. As I moved to approach her, I saw her eyes roll back into her head, her body going limp. Panic rose, what if I had killed her?

Snape beat me to her, turning her over, while taking of his shirt, to add pressure to the wound, still trying to stop the bleeding. ‘Get help’ he snarled at me. I didn’t know what to do, by the time I’d reach a teacher she might be dead, if she wasn’t already, she was loosing so much blood.
I took out my two way mirror, and shouted James’ name. James’ face appeared. ‘Get madam Pomfrey, and bring her to the side of the lake, it’s urgent, Lex is bleeding to death.’ I said. James looked at me in shock ‘What happened?’ he asked. I saw the mirror moving, and guessed that James was running. ‘She got hit by a curse.’ I said, before putting the mirror back in my pocket.

When I turned back to Snape, I noticed Snape was talking to Lex quietly, poring a potion down her throat. ‘You have to massage her throat, or the potion won’t go down.’ He said, not looking at me, so I did as I was told. The moment I touched her I felt a faint electric current run trough my entire body. I looked at Snape, and noticed that he was also looking at me.‘What are you giving her?’ I asked, not entirely trusting the Slytherin, and trying to diffuse the tension.
Snape still refused to look at me, but answered n a flat tone ‘blood replenishing’. I nodded, not sure if Snape noticed.

It seemed like an eternity later that Madam Pomfrey finally showed up, accompanied by Mc Gonagall, whose lips were thinner than I ever remembered them being. I knew I was in trouble, I had deliberately hurt another student, I’d probably be expelled.

I saw Madam Pomfrey tending to Lex, whose abdomen started to heal immediately. I overheard her tell Snape that the potion had saved her life, if he hadn’t been carrying that around Lex would have surely died.
‘I’ll have to put her in an enchanted sleep Mr. Snape, to allow the muscles to heal, and to be sure she doesn’t tear anything back open.’ I heard her say.

‘You are coming with me Mr. Black’ Mc Gonagall told me, having assured that Lex was going to live. I nodded, not trusting my voice at this moment. I’d almost killed the girl I loved out of jealousy, I was going to be in so much trouble.
As I expected, Mc Gonagall took me to the headmasters’ office. It was a room I’d never been in before. I was still to fazed to look around. ‘Wait here for me’ Mc Gonagall told me.
I took a seat in front of Dumbledore’s desk. Mc Gonagall returned with Dumbledore.

‘How’s Lex?’ I asked, I didn’t like the look on both of their faces.
Dumbledore answered me ‘alive, she’ll be kept in a coma for a few days, so she doesn’t tear anything by moving.’ I nodded, she’d be fine, that was my biggest concern.

‘Mr Black, I want you to tell me what happened, Mr and Mrs Zabini are on their way, and I want to give them a clear view of what exactly happened to their daughter.’

I told the headmaster everything.
I started with our history together as children, about how we couldn’t be friends at Hogwarts, because she was ‘the Slytherin Princess’ even if she was in Ravenclaw, my friends would never condone it.
I told the headmaster how I’d slowly come to realise the depth of my feelings for her, I told the man about the party, my jealousy. I told him that I heard I allegedly slept with someone, but couldn’t remember doing so. I told him about Lex’ reaction to hearing that.

Somehow I found it easy to talk about such things, especially now that I’d started talking.
Every now and then, it looked as if Mc Gonagall would interrupt, but Dumbledore held up his hand, and she remained silent.

I ended the story by telling them about the jealousy taking over, and trying to hex Snape, and how Lex had taken the curse instead.

After I was done talking, there was a long silence, which was broken by one of the portraits that announced the arrival of Lex’ parents.
‘What’s going to happen now?’ I asked, I was sure to be expelled for this.

Both Mc Gonagall and Dumbledore looked at me. ‘It will depend on the stance of the Zabini family.’ Dumbledore said. ‘If they press charges, which they could, you will be expelled and it will be up to the ministry to decide on your punishment.’ I swallowed, I had expected a strict punishment, but involving the ministry would not sit well with his parents.
‘If they don’t press charges?’ I asked, hopeful.

‘I will be writing to your family tonight, to inform them of what has happened. I also need to let the board of governors know about this incident. Any further punishment will be up to professor Mc Gonagall’ He said.

‘In the meantime, you are suspended, you will not attend any classes, but you will stay in the castle. I’m sure Alexandra’s parents would also like a word with you.’
