He was a nervous wreck. Harry sighed and tried to flatten his hair down one more time. His dinner with the Malfoy’s was in a few minutes and his nerves were getting to him.
‘This is worse than my first day at Hogwarts!’ he thought as he went to the fireplace. With a final sigh, he flooed to Malfoy Manor. As usual, his entrance was less than graceful.
“Smooth Potter.” Draco drawled as Harry righted himself.
“Yeah, my landings are always a little rough.”
Harry looked up and caught Draco’s eyes. Draco was floored by how good Harry looked without his glasses.
“I see you finally ditched those hideous glasses. You look so much better without them” Draco said causing Harry to blush.
“Yeah, my vision was fixed when I tried to change my eye color.”
“Simply change your eye color wouldn’t do that Mister Potter.” Lucius stated as he and Narcissa joined the boys.
“It does when you use wandless magic.” Harry stated. He watched as all three fought to hide their surprise.
“Wandless magic?” Draco asked stunned.
“Yeah, I was practicing it so my wand wouldn’t be traced and it just happened.”
“How interesting. Any ways, this way to dinner please. We can continue our conversation there.” Narcissa stated with a small smile. This boy was more interesting than she had originally thought. The small group made their way to dinner. During the meal, they kept the conversation light, saving the more serious talk for afterwards. The discussed school, Quidditch, and other safe topics until they were all seated in Lucius’ study afterwards.
“Where would you like to start this clean slate Mister Potter?” Lucius asked as a house elf served them tea.
“First I would like to apologize to Draco for the last few years. Next I would like a few questions answered. After you can ask me anything.”
“Very well, what questions would you like answered?” Lucius would never admit it, but he was nervous.
“Really it’s just one question. Do you really want to follow Voldemort now that he is back?”
The Malfoy’s sat in silence for a moment before Draco spoke up.
“I know I don’t if I don’t have too. I won’t follow Dumbledore either.”
Lucius and Narcissa nodded in agreement.
“What if there was a third option? A part that didn’t follow either but was fighting for the world as a whole?”
“What do you mean Potter?” Lucius asked.
“I want to fight both. Both sides are dealing in absolutes. Either the Purebloods will reign or the Muggleborn will hold all the power. I don’t think either should and that whoever is the Minister should hold a neutral ground. Think of the Wizarding world as a whole instead of the different pieces.”
“And how would you do that?”
“Remove both absolutes and work towards healing the divide that was caused during the last war. To keep bloodline pure is going to bred out the oldest families and all that is going to be left are the muggleborns. The bloodlines need to mix to keep the pure lines strong and healthy and to integrate muggleborns into the world. The Ministry is heavily divided with mostly pureblood and half-bloods working there. Mix it up a bit and work set a goal that the whole Wizarding world can work towards, no matter ones’ blood status, and eventually the prejudices of the world will fade away.”
“What goal would that be?” Draco asked.
“Protection of this world. What Voldemort is doing risks exposure and so does what Dumbledore does. The system needs to change on how Muggleborn wizards and witches are introduced to this world and purebloods need a better education on the Muggle world so that they can protect themselves.”
Lucius couldn’t believe that this young boy saw so many flaws in their world.
“Where does this insight come from?” He asked.
Harry sighed.
“From my own life.”
With that he told them everything about how he was raised and how he was in a way brainwashed against them from day one. None of them could believe what Harry had gone through. How his relatives treated him. What he did to get free of them all and live his life how he wanted to.
“And here I thought you were just as spoiled as me.” Draco said after Harry had finished talking.
“Where would you get that idea?” Harry asked.
“It’s one of the storied that started when I was young. Everyone heard it but nobody knew where it came from. You were in hiding and were pampered because of what you did.”
Harry snorted, “I wish.”
“Mister Potter, on behalf of my family we would like to join you in your mission to bring balance back to our world. Oh, and help you with your etiquette and property management.”
“Thank you Mister Malfoy, it means a lot to me. Oh, will you have a problem with Hermione? I’m going to ask her for help in organizing everything this weekend and helping me with managing everything. She’s amazing when it comes to organizing things.”
“No, we will not have a problem with her if she doesn’t have a problem with us. If she decides not to help then I will set you up with an assistant who can help you keep your books in order.”
Harry thanked Lucius again. They spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other better. Harry found that Draco and he had a lot more in common than he thought and he felt a twinge of sadness over the lost years he could have spent with someone who looked passed his name and saw Harry. It was late when Harry returned to his inn room. He tripped over his mountain of trunks before falling into bed. He was surprised by an angry hoot from a horned owl.
“A letter for me?” Harry took it and opened it. As he read it he felt the stomach drop out.
‘What the heck.’ He though before unshrinking his trunk mountain.
