Flippin heck. This story was gonna be a short one originally. 15 or 20 chapters. Now it’s like an epic tale. I want to finish it but more things keep cropping up in my head and wont let me be. Argh!
I also just realised that I’ve been spelling Tonks as Tonx. Sorry about that. Lol
Yup folks, it’s song time again. For link, email me. Ccino@yahoo.co.uk
Chapter 90
“If what Lou says is correct, then yes, I am willing to be your first human/wolf test subject. There is one problem however. If I am to spend a minimum of three days in … Wales did you say?”
Severus nodded his head.
Five of the eight mansions are already full Severus, and more families are pouring in all the time. Tonks still has her own job at the Ministry and I do not see how I can oversee the running of things when I am to be absent for the best part of a week each month.”
“The mansions each have a full complement of house elves I believe. I am certain that given proper instruction, they can relive you of your duties for a short period each month until the cure is completed. Any new admissions can be vetted by you on your return each time. I would also suggest you interview for one wizard or witch from each household to take on the role of supervisor, thus freeing you time further. You have the contact details for my solicitor, he will arrange a suitable fee to be paid for their employment. There is also a small gathering of elves at the farmhouse in Wales that normally tend the herb and vegetable crops. They are well versed in the care of wolverine. They have secured the property and are waiting to see to your needs while you are there. I will give you the address and you can go see it for yourselves. You however will have to remain in London during these times.” Severus told Tonks. “No exceptions.”
Tonks agreed. She and Remus had already discussed the fact they would probably have to be apart for those times, unlike now when he would simply lock himself in the basement for one night each month.
“Very well. We shall begin on the morning before the next full moon. I shall ensure the elves at ‘llvsieuvn gardd amaethdy’, that is Herb Garden farm, have the necessary potions and instruction on when to administer them and how. All you need do is turn up on time, around ten am at the latest as the first altered dose of wolfesbane must be taken by ten thirty so as to work into your bloodstream. I ask only that you send me a full written report of every detail you are capable of remembering during your transformations. Other than that, I wish you every success Lupin.”
“Wow” Lou and Tonks exclaimed at the same time.
Remus stood and offered a shaky hand to Severus, unable once again to speak for fear of his emotions taking him over.
Tonks however flung her arms about the disgruntled Professor and hugged him tight, tears in her eyes. “Thank you Severus. Thank you so much.” She sobbed.
Severus prised her from him, feeling slightly uncomfortable at her show of gratitude. Something he was still unaccustomed to.
“Yes, well if I am to finalise the details of this endeavour, I need you to let - me - go - Nymphadora.” He said, holding her at arms length, his voice somewhat strained. “I shall also have Miss Granger experiment on the khat infusion, see if she cannot make it more palatable. I do not guarantee success though.”
Lou looked at Remus and giggled while he smirked “Thank you for helping me to come to a decision Lou.” the tired, but happy looking werewolf said.
“Me? But I d …”
“I would still be dithering over whether or not to go through with this had you not decided to pay us a visit last night.”
It took a total of twenty two months, rather than the estimated eighteen, before Remus Lupin, werewolf since the tender age seven, became Remus Lupin, human being, wizard, and no longer registered as a dangerous creature at the Ministry of Magic.
When news of his cure got out, Severus and Hermione were inundated with requests, demand and pleas for the cure from families and friends of the many werewolves across the globe. Some offered extortionate amounts of money, while others had nothing to offer but offered to do anything asked of them if they would only cure their daughter, son, brother, spouse or friend.
Lou suggested having the farmhouse extended and hand over Sirius’ vault to start a trust fund for werewolves wishing to be cured. Thos that were wealthy enough to pay for the treatment could do so, while those less fortunate would benefit from the profit made from the wealthy payees. All profits from the farm crops would help towards the trust and hopefully the Ministry would be persuaded to help fund the project along with charitable donations. They called it the ‘Lupin-Oja Werewolf Foundation’, and for the next twenty five years Herb farm was constantly full of werewolves in the process of being cured.
Those werewolves who objected to the cure simply because they enjoyed killing and turning innocent victims and refused to live any other way, were captured and held in a separate secure building and given the cure anyway until it was believed that all werewolves were finally eradicated.
A full counselling service was provided to help the newly reformed adjust to their new lives and find regular employment, as well as having their names removed from the Ministries register.
It also boosted the magical employment ratings, as well as encouraging more students to take a serious interest in potion making, especially if said student had a family member or friend who was afflicted with the illness.
One year after Remus’ cure was complete, he and Tonks had their first child, a boy and they named him Matthew Louis Lupin. Louis being the nearest they could get to Louhi.
Matthew was followed by Helena Jayne, the Jayne for Hermione’s middle name. Then came Paula Colette, Samantha and Timothy, (twins) and lastly Remus Jr.
Severus and Lou attended the weddings of Harry and Ginny, Hermione and Vithori, Ron and Padma Patil, plus most of her Slytherin girlfriend. They were even invited by Lucius Malfoy to witness the marriage of his daughter Drucilla, to one Blaize Zabini. A marriage arranged by their parents and not objected to too strongly by the young couple.
Severus attended but Lou refused to go.
Each wedding Lou attended left her miserable for several days and it was on her and Severus’ tenth wedding anniversary that he surprised her with a full complement of guests to attend their own official Handfasting.
Tonks and Hermione had secretly chosen a gown from the trunk Lou still kept in the spare room. A cream, floor length gown that fell open from waist to hem, revealing a pale gold underskirt. The bodice fitted snugly, laced with a gold ribbon, a neckline that teased, showing just a hint of cleavage without being too daring. Gold and cream rosebuds were woven into her hair, which flowed loose down her back and over her shoulders in soft waves. A faint shimmer of gold was drawn along her eyelids and gold slippers adorned her feet.
Lou was overwhelmed on New years day to find herself in a different bed to the one she fell asleep in.
Tonkss and Hermione burst into the room just as she was sitting up and trying to clear her sleep fogged brain enough to place the familiar surroundings.
Severus had not made love to her in over two weeks and she’d taken to quietly crying herself to sleeps most nights, wondering if she’d done something wrong or if he just didn’t love her any more.
He’d resolutely denied her accusations and said he was tired from all the extra work he was putting in, getting students prepared for OWL’s and NEWT’s, keeping up to date on the latest potion developments and experimenting.
Lou didn’t believe a word of it but knew she wouldn’t get any more from him than that.
“What’s going on? Why am I at your house Tonks? Where’s Severus?”
Both women laughed at the look of shock and confusion on Lou’s face.
“Because it’s unlucky for the groom to see his bride the night before their wedding. That’s why we snuck a portkey under your pillow yesterday.” Hermione told her.
“What are you on about. You know full well I’m already married. Now what’s this all about?” Lou demanded.
“Like Hermione said, you’re getting married. Today. Severus has arranged it all, with a little help from us of course. He wasn’t too keen on us sneaking you away from him mind. Lou we all know how much you wish you’d had a normal wedding. Severus isn’t the only one who’s noticed how you react each time you watch one of your friends tie the knot. So when Severus came up with the idea of giving you a proper ceremony, we all pitched in and helped.” Tonks told her.
“The Handfasting is at sunset today and we’re here to make certain you’re ready and arrive suitably late.” Hermione added.
“Remus is with Severus now. He said he’s never seen the wizard so nervous.”
Lou turned to Tonks, surprise written on her face. “Severus is nervous?”
“Yeah.” Both women were chuckling now. “Remus informed me he’s pacing the floor at the moment. He cannot keep his breakfast down and his hand were trembling so badly apparently when he tried to read his morning paper, he had to abandon it.”
Lou couldn’t believe what was happening. The last couple of weeks had been so strained between them and she’d honestly believed he was falling out of love with her. Now she realised he must have been stressed out with the preparations for this. That still didn’t explain why he’d not touched her for the last fortnight, but hell, he wanted to marry her, again. So tonight he was bound to want to … “ Lou smiled even as her eyes filled with tears as she realised he must still love her, and love her dearly to be doing all of this for her. For them.
Lou luxuriated in letting the two women pamper her all day. When Molly Weasley and Ginny arrived to help, she welcomed them wholeheartedly and by three pm, she was ready to go to Hogwarts.
Rather than risk getting dizzy using a portkey, hence losing her balance and spoiling her gown, Lou said she would Melt there and meet the women in Hermione’s study, where she now worked as Professor of Transfigurations.
Severus was a bundle of nerves. He had no idea why he was so nervous, he’d planned this wedding meticulously until every last detail was perfected. The flowers, thanks to Madam Sprout, lined the aisle down which Lou would walk. Extensive charms were in place to shield everyone from the cold, blustery weather. The snow fell heavily but the area of grounds where the ceremony would take place was like a small oasis of a spring day. The charms were set right up to the main entrance to Hogwarts, and rose petals strewed the path she would take to his side.
Their brooms were set together, hovering about a foot from the ground behind where Albus would stand to perform the ceremony. They were twined together with garlands of gold and cream roses and the arch beneath which they would stand was also covered in the same blooms. All of the roses were mere buds at the moment, and were charmed to burst into full bloom the moment the jumped the brooms together.
The stress of making all these arrangements however were not the reason that Severus had refrained from engaging his wife in bed over the last couple of weeks.
Lou appeared in Hermione’s office only moments before the other four women. On the desk was a large bouquet of freesia, honeysuckle, and babies breath. The scent from the freesias and honeysuckle blending beautifully and filling the room. A small card lay beside them and Lou picked it up to read it.
My first love
My last love
My everything
Hermione and the others arrived just in time to see Lou fill up with tears, her breath hitching as she re-read those three simple, but heartfelt lines from Severus.
“Oh sweetheart, you mustn’t cry now. Your eye shadow will run.” Molly exclaimed.
“Don’t worry mum, it’s charmed not to.” Ginny told her while Hermione and Tonks took the small card from Lou’s trembling fingers and read it.
Ginny wiped the tears from Lou’s cheeks as she sniffed along with Hermione and Tonks at the simple sentiment from Severus.
“I always knew he was a romantic deep down.” Molly sobbed when she read it for herself.
Lou looked at her as though she thought she was one Sickle short of a Galleon and snorted. “Severus is not romantic Molly, believe me.”
Lou’s opinion was shaken though when they led her to the main hall and opened the massive double doors, revealing the setting Severus had taken great pains to arrange.
When Harry suddenly appeared at her side she was startled. “Harry?”
“Lou, would you allow me the honour of being the one to give you away?” He asked.
“Ye … yes. Please Harry.” She replied, stunned as he offered his arm.
Lou placed her hand on his forearm and he led her down the steps and along the flower sprinkled path.
“I know it’s a bit of a shock Lou, but the Professor was adamant you wouldn’t find out about this until today. He made everyone involved take an oath not to let anything slip while you were within earshot.”
Lou couldn’t respond to him. She shuddered each time she inhaled, so overcome was she. Any attempt at speech would have resulted in either all out blubbering, or a garbled nonsense. Or both.
When Severus turned to see his bride his knees almost gave way. Fortunately Remus was close enough to lay a steadying hand on his arm. “Steady old man.” The ex werewolf told his friend. “You’ll be no good to her on your knees.”
Severus shot him a half-hearted glare but only succeeded in making Remus smile.
“Remember I know how you feel. I was just the same when I married Tonks.”
Lou caught sight of Severus and she halted her step for a moment. He still wore black, but the fabric shimmered in the dying sunlight with a faint, golden glow that seemed to be woven into the fabric. A single cream rose with gold leaves was fastened to his lapel, and his long black hair was fastened at the nape of his neck with gold twine.
“He looks almost human doesn’t he.” Harry stated with a cheeky smirk.
“No. He looks beautiful.” Lou said breathily.
Harry thought she was taking things a bit far but said nothing as they approached the garlanded archway, Severus, Remus, and Albus.
Albus read their vows and laid a golden rope over their joined hands. The rope wrapped itself around their wrists and glowed slightly as Albus blessed their union. Then it disappeared and Remus stepped forward with a small satin cushion.
On it lay three rings, two plain yellow gold bands, and one yellow gold band with a diamond set on top.
Severus picked up the smaller of the two plain bands and held it to the tip of her ring finger. “This ring symbolises the never ending love I have for you.” He told her, slipping the ring onto her finger. He then picked up the diamond rind. “This ring symbolises the love I have held in my heart for you since the day we first met.” He slipped the belated engagement ring on to meet with her wedding band.
Remus reached across with the cushion so Lou could take the last ring.
Tears coursed down her cheeks as she picked it up and held it to Severus’ finger. “This … this ring … I … Sever …” Too choked to speak, Lou pushed the ring into place, her eyes held by his loving gaze, willing him to know what she was unable to say.
He smiled widely and gave her a nod, reading her mind clearly for the first time in many years. He could feel the love radiating from her, he did not need words to tell him so.
Albus declared them legally wed and stepped aside, revealing the joined broomsticks.
“Are you ready?” he asked, tightening his grip on her as they stepped towards the brooms.
Lou smiled and nodded and they leaped high, clearing the broomsticks with room to spare as every rosebud burst into full flower.
The guests all ohhd and ahhd at the sight, but quieted when Severus pulled Lou into his arms and kissed her long and deep.
As their kiss ended and they turned, both grinning from ear to ear, music surrounded them and a deep, baritone voice joined in, singing the song Severus searched high and low for to tell Lou just how he felt about her.
Barry White: My Everything.
The first, the last, my everything
And the answer to all my dreams
You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are
I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two
You're all I'm living for
Your love I'll keep for evermore
You're the first, your the last, my everything
And with you I've found so many things
A love so new only you could bring
Can't you see it's you
You make me feel this way
You're like a fresh morning dew on a brand new day
I see so many ways that I
Can love you till the day I die
You're my reality, yet I'm lost in a-a-a a dream
You're the first, the last, my everything
I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two
Girl you're my reality
But I'm lost in a-a-a a dream
You're the first, you're the last, my everything
Severus stood and looked deep into her eyes, holing her to him as the song played out, letting her know that this was how he felt.
More tears streamed down her cheeks, Lou just didn’t seem to be able to stop them. Severus wiped them gently away with his thumbs, and kissed her again, before he led her through the throng of guests and up to the castle.
The Great Hall was decked out in the same cream and gold flowers, interspersed with sprays of freesias and honeysuckle.
Two long tables were set at the head of the hall, a large three tier cake in the centre with a bride and groom, embracing as they danced around the perimeter of the top layer to the muted strains of My Everything.
“Mrs Snape.” Severus purred as he held out her chair.
“Thank you Mr Snape.” She replied shyly.
The elves provided a wonderful meal and then Severus led Lou onto the centre floor for the first dance.
“I love you Mrs Snape.” He told her.
“I know.” She answered, as he whirled her round the floor.

Aww, please leave a review.
Romantic Severus. I wonder how long that will last.
