Alright, I admit it, O couldn�t wait to finish this tale, but I�ve decided to add a small epilogue because some things were just left unanswered and it bugged me as I�m sure it did you.

Epilogue
Lou was frantic. Mandy Elaine was almost five years old, it was two weeks into the summer holidays, and Severus had been called up to help the Order and the Ministry with the Dementor problem. For several years the Dementors had seemed to lay dormant, bothering no one, hence they were left to their own devices, though not totally forgotten.

Recently however it was discovered they had bred, their numbers had multiplied ten fold and they were hungry. Hungry for souls.
They had arrived at the Maatila only a week ago, Toby, Winter and Mandy spent most of each day in the playhouse with Laina, the rest of the elves helping to keep a tight reign on the sometime wild children.

Toby, at sixteen, still had spiky hair and nothing Lou did would make it do anything other than stick out in all directions. It had to be kept short to prevent him looking like a toilet brush. He was as cheeky as Lou ever was though he had learned to control his temper quite well. He was also a very loving child, never afraid to give his mum or dad a cuddle, no matter who was around or where they happened to be. His peers never called him on it; Toby would have hexed them into next week if they dared.

Winter still had a tight hold on her daddy�s strings. He found it impossible to say no to her whenever she batted those long eyelashes at him.

Mandy Elaine had surprised them all when she was born with long, golden locks, bright blue eyes and fair skin. She was the only one of their children who inherited Lou�s Nordic ancestry.

From her third month of pregnancy, Lou and Severus knew this child would be as powerful as Lou. Albus had to ask Lou to avoid the main areas of the castle when it was busy because students and staff alike were pushed to the side by an invisible force each time she tried to walk past them.

Even Severus could not part the crowds like Lou at that time.
If the child inside her decided it wanted to sleep in the middle of lunch or dinner, the lights in the Great Hall would go out and the enchanted ceiling would black out to prevent the moon and stars from leaving their glow. This caused pandemonium at times, as everyone tried to light their wands, only to have them extinguished immediately.
At seven months pregnant, the baby decided it preferred to be active at night, so of course every torch and wand in the castle was lit, waking everyone up they were so bright.
Sudden silencing spells would mysteriously affect everyone if things were too noisy, much to the consternation of the staff. Though the headmaster thought it was hilarious at first, it soon wore even him down.

So poor Lou was banished to Prince Manor for the duration of her pregnancy, Severus apparating there each evening and weekend to be with her.
Severus instructed his solicitor to purchase every house in Spinners End, have the lot demolished and a park erected in its place.

The majority of families that were housed in the mansions run by Remus were now mostly employed elsewhere and had moved on with their lives. Now the mansions housed mostly squibs, those born of magical parents but having no magical power of their own.

They were all found gainful employment in both the muggle and magical world and were told the mansions would be their homes as long as they wanted to stay there. A good living allowance was provided for those in need until work could be found and the supervisor from each house would provide Remus with a full written account of their progress each week. There were a few who seemed unable to hold down a job and preferred to live off the generosity of the Snapes, these were soon rifled out and they were sent to work long shifts at Herb Garden farm to help them learn how to pull their weight with out expecting the world to owe them a living.
When Toby was six, and Winter four, Severus and Lou were spending a few weeks of their summer holiday at the Maatila.

Lou came across her mothers private study and she and Severus discovered amongst other things, a diary. The diary told of her life, her unwillingness to follow in her parent�s footsteps and her feeling during her affair with Sirius and her subsequent pregnancy.

She detailed the magic binding spell she used on Lou when she was born and when Severus looked it up in the library, it was found to contain traces of dark magic. It was this dark magic that had deformed Lou�s uterus. From her writings, Orvokki had no idea what her spell had done as regards damaging Lou, she only thought to protect her child as best she could and the spell was one she had heard her father speak of once when he threatened to ground her own magic if she did not conform to his ways.
The diary also told of her heartbreak at having to leave her child to the care of others, then her distress of the violent marriage she was forced into. Her husband discovered on their wedding night that she was not a virgin and performed a series of spells on her, one that showed she had given birth at some time.

His violence towards her increased as time went by until eventually the entries stopped.

It took Lou a long time to come to terms with what her mother went through, how her life led to its untimely end and the horrific things she described her husband did to her.
One of the Maatila room revealed an archway similar to the one in the Department of Mysteries. It was transported to London to sit beside the one already there, so the Ministry could experiment and see if it were possible to bring anyone back through the second veil. At first, Lou and Harry were excited, hoping things would develop quickly and that Sirius would be returned to them. Experiments are still ongoing.
Through detailed search, Lou discovered she had distant relations on both her mother and her father�s side. She was not too keen on discovering the Malfoy�s were related to her, but hey, family is family.

She also began working on Severus� side of the family. He too had cousins it seemed on his mother�s side. His father apparently was descended from squibs, his grandparents on the Snape side both being none magical products of pureblood families.

When Lou provided him with the evidence, he pretended not to care, but there was no denying the slightly haughtier demeanour he developed at discovering he was in fact, a pureblood.

Severus� father had been a cold, uncaring man, but the extended family they discovered on the Snape side were nothing like him. Mostly they were normal, happy individuals. Some magical, some muggle, but all welcomed him into their fold.
Each Christmas Lou would make sure to invite everyone she could to Prince Manor, family, no matter how distant, magical and muggle alike, friends, the staff and any remaining students at the school were all invited to Prince Manor for the Christmas period.

So ended the traditional Christmas at Hogwarts, instead starting a new and more exciting one at the Snapes.
Severus at first was resentful of this, preferring to keep his home private from outside influence. After the second such Christmas however and the arrival of his own offspring, he was forced to relent and actually enjoyed having the dozens and dozens of friends and family members around him. Children of all ages ran wild through the corridors of Prince Manor, as they never had before, laughing, screaming, shouting and generally being the children they were.
Now a darkness seemed to swallow Lou. She tried her best to hide it from the children, but the thought of Severus facing who knew how many Dementors was driving her insane.

Severus made her take an oath not to interfere this time. If anything happened, he did not want his children left without both parents.
It seemed that all hope was lost when the three hundred strong band of Order and Ministry members entered the lair where the Dementors hid.
A large underground cavern that split into a labyrinth of more caverns, housed Dementors by their thousands and as soon as the wizards were deep enough inside, the Dementors attacked from every direction.

Forty-three Ministry members lost their souls that day, along with Alistor Moody, the ever-vigilant auror and the only Order member to succumb to the Dementors kiss.

Patronus� became weaker and weaker as the Dementor started to crowd round and overcome the group.

Severus lost his wand and fell to his knees, his last thoughts with Lou and his children, silently begging their forgiveness for leaving them.

He fell to his side and felt something sharp digging him in the ribs. Turning slightly he put his hand in his robes to grab the offending article, only to wrap his fingers round the little used wand, the koa wood wand he got from the Maatila, but rarely used because it was too powerful for everyday use.
He withdrew it and thought of Lou. He thought of them both together, of the beautiful children she had miraculously provided him with. He thought of the time she first opened up to him, trusting him with every aspect of her life.

�EXPECTO PATRONUM!� He shouted, holding the wand aloft.
Severus was forced onto his back with the force of the blast that came from his wand. A dazzling bright light burst from its tip, spreading and separating, producing Patronus after Patronus. They too split to produce even more Patronus�, all of them powerful and charging at the Dementors.

Severus had no idea this would happen, or how many Patronus were actually produced by his wand, all he saw were the forms of his wife and children, brilliant white, glowing and multiplying as they drove back the Dementors with such force the dark beings exploded into nothing, leaving a cloud of fog in their wake that eventually dissipated and vanished. The painite crystals blazed in his hand, the koa wood giving of its own luminescence and causing his hand and lower arm to glow eerily in the cavern.
Severus, like many others, was unconscious before the Patronus� disappeared, continuing their work without need of his intent any longer until their was not a single Dementor left.

It was three weeks before he returned, exhausted and haggard looking, but smiling happily.
Lou ran to him, jumping and wrapping her arms and legs round him while she cried and kissed his face wetly.

The force of her impact sent him flying backwards onto the floor, but Severus did not care, he had his wife, his children and his life. That was all that mattered to him.

Again, he was awarded the Order of Merlin 1^st class and this time he accepted graciously for himself. For this time, he felt he truly had saved the day and wore it proudly.
Lou never forgot her background. The fact she was extremely wealthy did not cause her to think she was better than anyone else.

Occasionally she would venture into the muggle world, keeping a sharp eye out for lost children, or those she instinctively knew were suffering through no fault of their own.

Lou did not expect any trust from these children, hell she would not have trusted anyone in their position. She did however give each one a small pouch of muggle money and a card with a telephone number on it. They could call the number free and they would be given instructions on how to reach a safe house where they would be cared for properly. None were under any obligation to stay at the large estate of Severus� in Yorkshire, run by Ron and Parvati Weasley, though most did, and those that wished to leave were given money and aided in finding somewhere safe to live if they wanted it.

Parvati was unfortunately born without a uterus. Even Severus� Heal-All could not heal what did not exist, so the couple doted on the lost children and called them their own, having the largest family any Weasley had ever had and loving every one of them.

Over the years, those children would return to the aged adopted parents with children and grandchildren of their own, including them in the extended family and knowing love would always be there for them.
Hermione and Vithori had one child, a boy they named Tapani after Vithori�s father. Tapani grew to be a handsome boy, very studious like his mother, yet with a strong eye for the ladies just as Vithori had been until he met and married Hermione.
When Mandy Elaine finally graduated from Hogwarts, Severus retired from his position there, preferring to spend his time with Lou and work on his own experiments.
Sometimes Hermione and Vithori would come to stay for a few weeks and Hermione would cloister herself away with Severus to experiment with him.

Lou never minded when they did this, but Vithori would get jealous of the time his wife spent locked away with another man so the visits were curtailed after a while.
Mandy proved to be a handful all through her childhood. Her powers were equal to Lou�s and she learned to control her shaped shifting abilities at the age of five. This caused big problems for Lou and Severus at times, especially when she did not want to go to bed.
Lou refused to teach her the art of Solutum until she was eighteen, reasoning that she was already too adept at hiding as it was.

Once she did learn however, she discovered something that Lou was always afraid to try. Because of the ability to shift into numerous forms, Mandy was able to Melt any amount of people with her at once and was always Melting her friends in and out of the Manor or to the Maatila.

It was Mandy who eventually persuaded Lou to try it with Severus and once it was proven Lou could do it; most times, they would travel that way, Severus finding it less tiring for long distances.
Toby liked to explore and spent a lot of time checking out the various Nilsen and Prince estates that now belonged jointly to the Snapes. Lou had long since managed to get the wards altered on the Nilsen vaults so that Severus could access them if needs be. Not that he ever did.

The Black family vault was made accessible to Tonks and Remus, Lou arguing that they had as much right to it as she did since Tonks was a Black by birth.
The Malfoy�s got their new son, named Draconius, followed ten months later by another son, this one named Cygnus, for Lucius�s father. Both boys were brought up living privileged lives, but not to the extent that they were in any way mean and nasty as Draco had been.
Lou felt she had led a charmed life in many ways. Perhaps the Sami peoples were right in the stories they told and the songs they sang for many generations, about a young girl who appeared from a foreign land and was touched by a white reindeer, welcomed by the mother of the foal only hours after its birth.
