"NOTHING? Not their FULL potential? Zac, just how powerful ARE they?"
Shrugs came from Zac and Apollo. "No one really knows. They tend to hold back from displays like that. That they did this is...well, maybe not as surprising as I would like to think. I've seen them angry, but..." he stopped, shaking his head.
"We've never seen them like this, and for them to want to use their magic to destroy...?" Apollo shook his head, not really sure what to say about what he had just seen his beloved nephews do. "If we had a guess though, I'd say they're at least mage level."
"Higher," Boomer said suddenly. "If, that is, there WAS such a thing as higher than a mage, then those two would be it. As they stood there, their rage boiling, I could feel the heaviness of their magic building with it, responding to them."
Zac nodded. "I think...beyond what they just did tonight? They're a lot more powerful than they will ever allow to show."
"Agreed, and also why, I think, Dumbledore keeps trying to get them to return to Hogwarts."
"WILL they ever return?"
"No. They've ALWAYS wanted to be Colonial Warriors. They stayed at Hogwarts only long enough to learn the basics, how to control their magic, what to, and what NOT to do with it."
"This?" Zac waved to the still-burning house. "This was a darkly gray area. Magic should never be used to destroy, the consequences of doing so can be...unpleasant. That they chose to use their magic to do so...?" he looked at the house. "We will have to wait and see if there will be consequences to what they did. Now, I think we need to get moving."
"Agreed. Let's catch up to them."

He slid into the booth across from him, his back to the wall, his disgust and hatred for this man hidden behind carefully constructed shields and walls. Those red eyes turned on him immediately, fury boiling in them.
"You sent for me?" he asked in a tone that was not at all concerned by the fury directed at him, waving away the waitress as she approached to see if he would like anything.
"I did!" he spat at him. "Tell me, Rodolphus, why are Lt. Roark and Hadrian Peverell Potter not dead yet?!"
A sable brow rose. "Because we haven't finished playing with them yet."
"While I am WELL aware that your brother enjoys playing with his kills before he finally disposes of them, YOU have NEVER been one to play with yours. You will tell me why you are doing so now."
"Simple really. It's because he's different from any of the others. HE is extremely cool. He's calm, collected, doesn't show he's bothered by pressure. He is also not afraid of me, nor, it seems, is he at all afraid of you. I find it fascinating, but do try not to worry too awful much, Tom."
"DON'T WOR--" he spluttered. "DAMN IT, Rodolphus! Every day those little bastards keep on LIVING, is another day I lose more money. I am SICK unto death of losing money," he raised a hand in a wave when Rodolphus smirked, opening his mouth to comment, "yes, yes, I know. I can recoup the losses in a matter of a few sectons {weeks}, but that is HARDLY the point, now is it? Last night, they actually had the FUCKING NERVE to burn down one of my more popular Pleasure houses!!"
'Yes,' he thought behind tight shields, 'and what an impressive sight it was, you sick, perverted son of a bitch!' Watching Harry call down lightning in such a controlled way, and Roark...the way he had controlled that huge fireball of his...He had known they were powerful, of course. He could feel the way the power of their magic thrummed through them and he suspected they themselves really had no idea just HOW powerful they really were.
"Did they? Well, they're certainly a passionate pair about some things. I DID hear about the House this morning, AND which one it was, and if you want the truth, Tom?"
The man across from him gave a nod to go on, suddenly looking weary as his fury melted away. Tom had to admit, Rodolphus had always had that effect on him, as if his calm and steadiness, calmed and steadied him.
"I'm quite surprised burning it to the ground was all they did. I heard too that the magic they used was quite impressive."
Tom nodded, gave a sigh. "Roderick was there there they arrived. He said that Hadrian Peverell Potter called on lightning...that the bolt that struck down through the center of the house, was so bright it almost blinded him. He said that Roark Peverell Potter conjured the largest fireball he had ever seen, and threw it through the broken door of the house." He shook his head now, an odd look in his eyes. "I heard from my sources in Hogwarts, and in the Academy, that the boys were powerful, but, I had no idea...That was Mage-level magic, Rodolphus, and we both know neither of them was at Hogwarts long enough to study Mage-level magics."
"Yes, it was, and no, they weren't, but all the same...We will have to wait and see if Lady Magic punishes them for using their magic to destroy."
Tom Riddle seemed to brighten up a bit at that. "What are the chances that she will?"
Rodolphus shook his head. "What of your informant?" he asked him. "Has he sent any word concerning the brothers?"
"Nothing."
A grunt. "Then she very likely approved of their reasoning for doing what they did. No matter. We will be taking care of them very soon," he slid out of the booth and got to his feet. "Rabastan and I will be giving them their final warning tonight, though I truthfully doubt it will do a damn bit of good."
"Then why not just kill them?"
A smile. "All in good time, Tom. All in good time." Rodolphus turned to leave.
"Rodolphus."
Tom Riddle's voice stopped him before he got more than a couple of steps, and he turned. "Yes, Tom?"
"There was a new team sent to them. A total of forty men. All of them, but four Counter-Intelligence."
"I'm aware. If Zion had not failed in the last assignment you gave him, we would not be having these difficulties now. It is Counter-Intelligence pushing this case against you."
"All too true. Then I assume you already know who most of them are?"
"I know who ALL of them are. Counter-Intelligence is inundated with Durin's."
A snort of derision sounded from the man. "That damn family is so large they could be considered a small army all on their own. If you and Rabastan take care of as many of them as you can, I'll give you a very nice bonus. I'll even grant you that divorce you've been wanting from Bellatrix."
"It would be our pleasure to do so, Tom, though ridding me of Bella would be the ONLY payment either of us would need."
"Done."
