- Characters do not belong to me?Im just borrowing them for my amusement?. Im American so sorry if I don?t get the British stuff right. This is my first fanfic with SS/HG and Im pretty new to this myself.
Chapter 1 Asking Hermione
Shock was clearly evident on Hermione?s face. Dumbledore had just asked her of all people to take part in a very important mission for the order. It had been 5 years since graduation and since then Hermione had been inducted and working for the order of the phoenix. This request however was becoming the testament to her devotion to the cause.
?Sir, you can not be serious. He would never agree to this even if it was for his protection.? Hermione slowly stated still attempting to grasp the full complexity of Dumbledore?s request.
?I?m afraid there is no other hope. Voldemort knows of Severus?s deception. The only way we can protect him is by making him believe that somehow Severus is still needed.
We have leaked a prophecy that has made Voldemort believe that a child born of a union between Severus and yourself would yield a great power, and above all the child would contain ambition for power.? Dumbledore added cautiously.
?May I ask you one question sir?? Hermione asked looking into Dumbledore?s blue eyes.
?Why me, and not another order member??
? You Hermione are the most plausible person that Severus would go for. Whether he likes to admit it or not Severus is a man, and as such he has needs and preferences. You are an attractive witch that is highly intelligence and shares his passion for potions.? Dumbledore said smiling lightly.
?So I am the closest thing to Snape?s type is what you are trying to say?? Hermione asked not fully believing what she was hearing.
?I am afraid so my dear.? Dumbledore said regretfully knowing the extraordinary favor he was asking of Hermione.
?What exactly are we to do to make this believable sir?? Hermione asked knowing full well that simply posing as Snape?s wife does not have Dumbledore this nervous.
? That I am afraid is what makes this request so difficult. No doubt Voldemort has his own spies and ways of ensuring that the prophesy is fulfilled, in order for this to work Hermione you and Severus will have to appear in love, be married as soon as possible and in all actuality consummate the relationship. It has come to my attention that somehow Voldemort is watching Severus very closely outside the castle as well as in his chambers. If we prevent Voldemort from observing Severus he may learn of our deception and kill Severus if not both of you.? Dumbledore finished sadly.
The room suddenly became unfocused for Hermione, her mind was reeling, and the only thought that was running through her mind was why did it have to be Severus Snape? Why did it have to be the vile potions master, the greasy bastard, and worst of all the man she had developed feelings for. Sure he was none the wiser to her feelings for him, but she had watched him through the years, with his work in the order and all the sacrifices he had made. In the beginning it was a simple admiration, that over the years as she had gotten to know him turned to an affection that at this point she could not name. No he had no idea that the friendship they had developed through their work together in potions had developed into more on her side at least.
? I will do it sir. As long as Severus agrees.? Hermione said quietly, avoiding the gaze of her long time mentor.
? Thank you Hermione.? Dumbledore said quietly to the back of the retreating Hermione.Next Chapter Severus? reaction and does he share similar feelings? Please read and review and let me know if I should bother with the rest of it!
