Chapter One: The Law of Horus
They say that Horus was a great god that rained his judgment on the people of Egypt. Of course Fudge believed that it was the perfect title for the new law, as it was he that was raining his judgment on the wizarding world. He dared anyone to go against him, for he knew many. He signed the law at once and then he put the article in the Daily Prophet. He didn’t care that he hadn’t gotten the vote of the wizarding world, he was the Minister of Magic and he did what he wanted.
Professor Dumbledore was busy looking over the O.W.L results when his paper arrived. Remus was busy looking over something to cover the gray that was now appearing, though Dumbledore wondered why he even bothered. He paid for the paper and the front page almost made him swear.
The Law of Horus Enacted.
Late last night Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge enacted the Law of Horus. This law gives the Minister the right to force pure-blood wizards to marry muggle-born witches. This law only affects those listed. The bride must become pregnant within two months of marriage, unless unable to. If this doesn’t happen the bride will be given to a new husband and the process will start all over again. If any wizard fails to abide by this law, they will be snapped of their wand and sent to Azkaban
“ Oh for the love of the gods!” Dumbledore commented, pushing the paper to Remus so that he could read it. Remus looked at it and then at ledoledore, not knowing what to say.
“ Are-.”
“ Yes Remus their serious,” Dumbledore replied. “ Fudge never learns his lessons. I thought that after last year he would of changed, but no he hasn’t.”
“ What are you going to do?” Dumbledore sighed and then answered.
“ Inform all my pure-blood staff members that are single that they will be married.” Remus looked at him and then Dumbledore spoke again. “ Which means that-.”
“ Severus is going to finally get married off,” finished Remus.
“ No thot eot exactly what I meant.” Remus gave him a hard look and Dumbledore decided to change the conversation.
Meanwhile at the Grangers house an owl arrived. It was to early for O.W.L results and when the owl landed she took the paper and opened it.
Dear Miss Granger,
You’re required to come to Hogwarts tomorrow night at seven. Please ask no questions.

Hermione put the note away and then started to pack. She had no idea how long she would be, but if Fudge was involved then she had to be there so that she could tell Harry and Ron when they arrived. The next afternoon she was on the Knight Bus heading to Hogwarts. She had been on the bus last term and hated it. It banged and made noises.
“ Hogsmead,” yelled Ernie. Hermione got off and the Knight Bus disappeared. She took her bag and headed up the sloping lawns to Hogwarts castle. As she entered the castle she saw long rows of gowns and concerned people.
“ Name?” Hermione looked to see a very stern looking women standing there. “ Name?” She repeated.
“ Hermione Granger,” Hermione replied. She watched as the women looked at the list.
“ Charlie take Miss Granger to room number four.”
“ Ch-.” She started, but stopped when Charlie Weasley appeared.
“ Hello Hermione, looks like your part of the whole mess!” He commented. Hermione looked at him wondering what in wor world was going on. He said nothing else as he dragged her to room number four. A woman was waiting and when she was forced on the stool Charlie left.
“ What’s going on here?” She asked.
“ Weddings?” the women replied. “ Now hold still.” Hermione held still as a dress was placed over her head. She was fitted and measured and then told to wait in the next room. The next room was filled with nog, bg, but witches about to get married. They all looked at her as though they felt sorry for her. Meanwhile horses were being unloaded and fathers were telling a short wizard that looked like he had other things better to do about how much land their manors had and some of the things that they could promise in their son’s marriages.
Harry and Ron were there, helping out of course. Something that they hated to do, but it gave them the chance to see which head was bigger then the other. Arthur and Molly were there as well, looking, well like the Weasley’s. Arthur was telling Harry more about the different wizards that were there.
“ That’s the Steward family, big inventors,” he told him. “ That must be his son.” He pointed to a wizard that looked in his twenties. He had long brown hair and black eyes.
“ Oh and look like Mr. Ollivander has arrived. Can’t believe that they think he’s marriage material!” Harry saw the wizard that had given him his famous wand and wondered what he would do if he found no one. He hated the idea that the Ollivanders would die out.
“ Who’s that?” Harry asked, pointing to a wizard that had brown hair.
“ Oh gods that Thomas Gryffindor,” moaned Arthur. “ No don’t look.” However it must of not worked because Thomas walked up to them.
“ Hello Arthur old boy, just finished telling Professor Dumbledore about my castle.”
“ And I’m sure that he loved to hear about it,” snapped Arthur.
“ Do you want to hear it?” He asked clearing not getting that Arthur didn’t want him around.
“ Um no. I was looking for my brain surgeon, excuse us.” And he dragged Harry away.
They continued to walk, looking at all the things that must of cost a fortune. It looked like the entire wizarding world had come out for this.
“ I can’t believe people are really listening to this law,” said a voice behind them. Molly and Ginny had found them after they had disappeared>
“ They don’t want to go to Azkaban Molly,” replied Mr. Weasley.
“ So how many wizard are here?” Ginny asked.
“ An equal number,” Mrs. Weasley answered. “ Forty wizards, forty witches. Everyone is bringing out the best hoping that the short wizard will choose them to have the best brides.”
“ Well it’s totally barbaric!” said Remus. He had just walked up when Mrs. Weasley had answered Ginny’s question. “ I’m a werewolf and therefore immune from this.” Harry opened his mouth to respond when he noticed someone. Professor Snape was setting on the ground reading a book and not paying attention to anything.
“ Professor what are you doing here?” Snape looked up and glared at him.
“ For your information Potter I’m here because Dumbledore had requested me. However unlike the others I don’t consider myself in the need to show off.”
“ Well I’m sure that the wizard will love that.” He glared at him again and then returned to his book. Harry turned and walked away feeling very sorry for anyone that got him.
The small wizard came around and looking at the things that each wizard had he handed them a number. Harry noticed that Draco was there, with his mother.
“ Malfoy you get number twelve.” He got his card and then returned to his mother.
“ What does he mean by you get number twelve?” Harry asked Mr. Weasley.
“ Well each bride and wizard are given a number and when that number is called the couple is married and they get whatever the wizard brought.”
“ Severus Snape,” the wizard called. He held his hand up and took the number. “ Since your humble Albus has given you a special bride that is just as humble as you are. Number forty.” And so all day each bride starting with number one were married.
The bride that was number twelve was a very pretty muggle-born that had been out of school for sometime. Harry watched Snape read for several more hours, but was getting impatient, which Mrs. Weasley told him was normal.
“ Number forty,” the small wizard called. By this time the grounds were empty, everyone going home to be with their new partners. Snape closed the book and handing it to Mrs. Weasley and they watched as Snape disappeared into the castle.
