Chapter
1: Dreamscapes and Train Rides
Hermione
was panting hard, her skin wet and hot. She writhed under him in
ecstasy, digging her nails into his back, which was gleaming with
sweat. He kissed her passionately, biting her lower lip. His lips
muffled her scream and their rhythm returned to a steady pounding. He
lifted her in his strong arms, rolling over onto his back, Hermione
sat upright, straddling him. She rode him hard, pressing her hands
into his muscular chest. His face tightened and his steel-grey eyes
rolled back in their sockets as his breathing became louder and
harder. Hermione increased her speed and felt a surging sensation
inside as the pleasure increased to an almost unbearable height. Her
breathing became a moaning, as did his, his blond hair plastered
against his forehead. Harder and faster, pounding, pushing. They were
coming in unison, coming, coming.
Hermione shot upright, sweat running down her body. She was alone, in her bed
at home. "What the fuck? No way. Oh my God." She lay back
down again, wiping her clammy hands on her sheets. "Please, tell
me I did not just have one of those kinds of dreams about
Malfoy." She lay awake, confused, rattled, dreading the
train journey back to Hogwarts the next day, when she was bound to
see him. And how could she face Harry and Ron after having images
like those in her head?
The
next morning, Hermione awoke early from restless sleep. She went
about her normal morning routine; washed her face, brushed her teeth
and wandered downstairs to get breakfast. Her parents were sat at the
breakfast bar in the kitchen, both dressed and ready for the drive to
London. Freshly brewed coffee sat in a pot on the side, a stack of
buttered toast on the bar between her parents. Hermione poured
herself some coffee and sat next to her mother, who pushed the plate
of toast towards her. No one spoke until Hermione had had several
large gulps of coffee. Finally her mother piped up,
"All
ready for your final year?" she said, in a slightly too cheerful
voice.
"Yep."
Hermione mustered between bites of toast. Her dad got up from the bar
and took his empty mug to the sink,
"We
do need to leave in twenty minutes. Are you packed?" He asked as
he rinsed his mug. Hermione nodded, got down from her stool and
shuffled out of the kitchen, mug in one hand, toast in the other. Her
parents exchanged nervous looks as she left. Their unspoken concerns
at their daughter's personality change this summer lingered heavily
in the air between them. They couldn't tell if Hermione was just
nervous about entering her NEWT year, being Head Girl, or something
else entirely. They knew there was something she wasn't telling them
about school, but neither dared ask.
Hermione
got to her room and quickly got dressed into a just passed
knee-length denim skirt and fitted red vest top. She applied her
Sleekeazy's Hair Potion - Spritz, a new variety for quick,
everyday use, and combed it through her bushy hair, which was
magically straightened. She had a quick check around her room to make
sure she hadn't forgotten anything, satisfied she grabbed her trunk
and set off back downstairs. Her parents loaded her trunk into the
car and Hermione ushered Crookshanks into the back seat, sliding in
after him. The drive was pretty quiet, Hermione's parents exchanging
occasional comments about the weather or the traffic. Hermione
applied some make-up, trying not to stick herself in the eye with her
eyeliner as Crookshanks nudged and rubbed at her for attention. They
got to King's Cross with a good twenty minutes to spare, Hermione
hugged her parents good bye, it was an odd parting, a strange feeling
still stood between them. Hermione couldn't explain the distance she
now felt from them, but she assumed it had been inevitable from the
day she got her first Hogwarts letter six years ago and was only now
becoming blindingly obvious to them all. Over the summer she had felt
herself slipping further away from them, desperate to return to the
world she now thought of as home. She looked around the platform for
a hint of red or black hair, but found nothing. Students were
boarding the Hogwarts Express already, so she joined them, thinking
she would find a compartment for the others and wait. She picked a
compartment half way down the train and stored her trunk, Crookshanks
settled himself on a seat by the window and curled up to sleep.
Hermione pushed the window down and leant out, looking once again for
a sign of her friends. It was five minutes to eleven. Where were
they?
"Huh-hem"
Hermione whipped round to see none other than Draco Malfoy leaning in
the doorway.
"What
do you want Malfoy?" She said impatiently, embarrassed as hell
as images from her dream flooded back into her mind.
"Aww,
poor little Granger, all on her own. Where are you pals then?"
He drawled. Hermione refused to be drawn into anything, she turned
away and leant back out the window. She suddenly felt him close
behind her, his breath on the back of her head. He pressed against
her back, her breath quickened. He leant his head out of the window
next to her and said quietly into her ear, "They're not coming.
They've been, delayed."
"What
are you talking about?" She snapped, he put his hands on her
hips and squeezed her close to him.
"Oh,
you'll find out soon enough." At that moment, Hermione saw a
flock of bouncing red-heads moving through the crowd, she reached an
arm out and waved madly,
"Ron!
Over here, quick!" Ron looked up and waved back as Draco stepped
back quickly, Hermione turned to him, "Don't ever come that
close to me again Malfoy, not if you want to keep your dick."
"Ooh,
I'm so scared, mudblood." He spat before turning and
disappearing out of the door. A moment later Ron appeared at the
door, trunk in one hand, cage with a twittering Pig in the other. She
rushed forward and took Pig, helping Ron into the compartment.
"Did
I see Malfoy at the window with you just now?" He asked,
slumping onto one of the benches.
"What?
Oh, yes, he just came to be a prat, as usual. Where's Harry? Wasn't
he staying with you over the summer?"
"Yep.
He's with Ginny. They were right behind me getting on the train.
Can't say for sure where they are now, but to be honest, I don't want
to think about it." Ron shuddered. Hermione nodded, sitting down
opposite him. She gathered from the letters from Ron over the summer
that since their congratulatory kiss at the end of term feast, when
Gryffindor once again won the house cup, Harry and Ginny had barely
left each other's side.
At
that moment the train lurched into motion. Ron and Hermione began to
exchange notes on the holidays, Hermione told him about her trip to
Italy, she enthused about Milan and all the beautiful architecture
and amazing designer clothes, but Ron began to nod off. So she let
him go on about how much fun he and his brothers had had, how well
Fred and George's shop was doing and how great it was to have Harry
there all summer. But she could tell his heart wasn't in it. He was
clearly jealous of the twins' success, and he'd already told her how
little he actually saw Harry. She thought better of interrupting Ron,
after all, she was keeping something from him too. There was no way
she was going to share her dream with him, or anyone for that matter.
Her mind wandered while Ron kept on about Quidditch. She thought
about her encounter with Malfoy on the train earlier, what had he
thought he was doing? To her, it was intensely sexual, him pressing
himself up against her like that, but had he actually intended to be
threatening? Was it her dream making her feel that way? There was no
way he could have feelings for her. He must have been winding her up,
and it worked, she thought, I'm sitting here, ignoring my friend,
thinking about him. She shook her head and snapped back to the
conversation, "No? No what?" Ron said, looking at her with
his head cocked to one side.
"Huh?
Oh, sorry, I was, there was a fly or something." She swatted the
air in front of her and looked around for the non existent fly.
The
compartment door opened, Harry and Ginny stood close together,
grinning from ear to ear.
"Hello."
Harry said with a trace of a laugh. They sat down together next to
Ron, Harry put his arm around Ginny's shoulders.
"You
two been in another compartment all this time?" Hermione asked.
They both nodded, Ginny giggled, Ron rolled his eyes.
"We've
just seen Luna and Neville crammed into a compartment with about
seven other people, and here's us four with two between us!"
Ginny burst out laughing, "People must think we all want
privacy!"
"What?"
Exclaimed Ron, "Why would people think me and Hermione want to
be alone together?"
"Dunno."
Ginny shrugged, "Maybe it's your body language or something!"
She laughed again, so did Harry.
"There's
something they're not telling us." Hermione surmised. Ron nodded
and looked at Ginny intently. "Anyway," Hermione said,
standing up, "I've got to go and see the prefects, I'd better
change." She retrieved her robes from her trunk, her shiny Head
Girl badge already pinned on the front, tucked her wand into the back
of her skirt. "Watch Crookshanks for me." She said to no
one in particular and set off for the toilet or an empty compartment,
whichever she found first.
At
the rear of the train there was an empty compartment with Harry and
Ginny's trunks up in the racks. She halted in the doorway and looked
around, a weird feeling filling her about getting changed in a spot
that had most likely seen the recent action of two of her best
friends. She shook the feeling off and closed the door, pulling down
the blind on the window. She put her robes down on one of the benches
and slipped her trainers off, facing the window, she pulled her vest
top up over her head and removed her wand from her waistband.
Outside
the door, Malfoy peered in through the small gap between door and
frame, where it didn't quite close properly. He saw her unzip her
skirt and let it fall to the floor. When did she start looking like
that? He wondered. Her black underwear highlighted her creamy skin,
her long legs and curvaceous figure were stunning, and her hair
definitely looked sexy all sleek like that. Malfoy's hand moved over
his stomach, he slipped it down his trousers and grasped his hard
member. The show was over all too quickly though, as Hermione quickly
put on her uniform and robes and slipped on her school shoes. Her
uniform fitted her differently, Malfoy thought, her skirt was
shorter, jumper tighter and her robes clung to her figure in all the
right places. He stepped away from the door, withdrawing his hand and
shook his head. "What am I thinking?" He whispered,
and stalked away.
Hermione
looked round at the door, sure she'd heard something. She went to it
and opened it, there was no one there, but someone had just slammed a
door a few compartments up. Dismissing it, she picked up her clothes
and set off back to Ron, Harry and Ginny, before going about her Head
Girl duties. At last she would find out who was Head Boy. When she
got to the front of the train, the prefects were assembled. She
smiled and greeted them all and began checking that they were all
present. A moment later Justin Finch-Fletchley arrived, Head Boy
badge gleaming on his chest.
"Hello
Hermione, I knew you'd be Head Girl." He said, grinning.
Hermione nodded and smiled back.
"Justin.
I had a hunch it might be you."
